Go there at 7:30pm, it only has 4 tables, usually it is full house. Maybe it is because the freezing rains. We order 6 dishes, they all come within 15 min. The dishes size are smaller than we expect. We have to order 3 more later. It sounds a lot for 7 people. We are too hungry and forget to take the photo. Prices are reasonable. The deep fried small fish (椒鹽白飯魚), Taiwanese style spicy mixed are good.

Food 5/5 Service 4/5 Vibe 3/5 OG OG Chinese restaurant near Bayview and Finch. Literally a very old skl vibe Chinese reso. Service people may say it’s bad, but as a Chinese place, i rate it very good😂 yes they rush you, but it’s been like that since I can remember~ (so be prepared) I loved their salted fish chicken fried rice and bitter melon with fried beef. Very flavorful. Also, their fried squid is to die for!! So flavorful and so perfect for another bowl of rice. Also, all dinner order comes with soup, which is also greatly appreciated. Overall 4/5!

The ambiance was decent and the staff was friendly. As for the food, it was over-seasoned, with too much salt and MSG. There is potential, but improvements are needed in food quality and service efficiency.

Ordered grilled fish with mild spice, but it wasn’t spicy at all. The fish was very good—tender and with few bones. The dish was served at room temperature, so it needed to be heated before eating for the best experience. After the meal, I felt very thirsty, possibly due to the seasoning being a bit salty.

Just wanted a quick bite for a mid morning snack. We got the hot and sour soup and the sticky rice and minced pork. The sticky rice was just was I was expecting and extremely hot/fresh and delicious!! This is just like the sticky rice you get at dim sum. The hot and sour soup was hot but not what I was expecting. I don’t usually see it with mushrooms and I thought it was light on the egg and very mild in terms of spice. More peppery than anything. However, there wasn’t a line so we were able to walk up and get our order quickly. We ate downstairs at the public tables so everything was still hot.

Smashing IT! Nestled in the heart of the historical St. Lawrence Markets this Asian Hot Food Take-Out has been serving the community for many years now. They have some amazing selections of food served tasty and fresh. Great customer service. The owners always strive to go above and beyond.

ROBO SUSHI 0

I went to Robô Sushi for the robots, and I was really impressed! It feels like stepping into the future — the robots bring the food to your table and even make cute little faces. It’s a super fun experience, especially for kids. But the real surprise was the food: the sushi is excellent, the beef and chicken teriyaki dishes are delicious, and the desserts are great too. The human staff is friendly and attentive, and the prices are fair for the quality and portions. Now my husband and I go back almost every Friday. Highly recommend!

I had the pleasure of celebrating my sister’s birthday at Robo Sushi yesterday, and it was an incredible experience! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, setting the perfect tone for our lunch. The food was delicious, offering a wide variety of fresh and flavorful dishes. However, what truly stood out was the exceptional service. The staff was not only quick but also incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home. The highlight of the celebration was when the robot delivered my sister’s birthday cake, complete with a special birthday tune! It was such a fun and memorable touch. We enjoyed our meal and conversation for quite some time, and the management was kind enough to let us stay without any rush. Overall, a fantastic spot for a great meal and a fun, unique experience. Highly recommend!

Really glad that I found this place. It’s a bit hidden, up a flight of stairs on Dundas St. Walked in on a Saturday afternoon and was able to get seated pretty quickly - beside the windows too. It’s a nice interior - feels bright and airy and they have some music playing that my friend from HK said reminded him of home. The staff are super welcoming and attentive throughout. The food portions are pretty generous and reasonably priced. They’re tasty and definitely filling. Would come back to try their other dishes, and recommend others to try it when they are in the area.

Chinese comfort food sums it all up. Staff really friendly, helpful, and attentive. Very lengthy menu. They sat me near the front of the restaurant where it was somewhat cold. Bring a sweater. I had the stewed beef brisket with radish. Just like mom used to make!

Wok Theory | 新天虹 0

Wok Theory | 新天虹

Visited Wok Theory 新天虹 in Toronto’s Chinatown, and it’s officially my go-to spot for authentic Cantonese food! The environment is clean, spacious, and perfect for family gatherings or even business meals. Must-tries: 🦀 Steamed Garlic Vancouver Crab in Lotus Leaf Rice – The crab is fresh, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with the rice steamed in lotus leaf. Every bite screams umami. 🍲 Canton style chicken hotpot – A winter essential! The broth is rich and comforting, with just the right amount of peppery kick. The meat is tender, and the side of handmade beef balls is a delightful bonus. 🦐 Mango Shrimp Balls & Grapefruit Shrimp Balls – Perfect for those who love fruity, refreshing flavors. The mango version was my favorite! 🍳 Seafood Egg Tofu – Silky tofu combined with fresh seafood and a flavorful broth. A must for tofu lovers. 🥧 Salted Egg Yolk Bun – Soft buns with molten salted egg yolk filling—perfectly balanced sweet and savory. The best part? It’s super affordable! Two people can easily share a soup and a main for $20–30 per person. Highly recommend for anyone looking for top-notch Cantonese cuisine in Toronto. 📍 Address: 530 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M5T 1H3

They serve some good dim sum here. Some items are better than others. Prices are okay. Portions are okay for the price. Can be busy. Seating is tight. Suggest you reserve for weekends. Shared tables are an option too. Free WiFi. No credit card surcharge. One can get a VIP card for discounts. Clean facility. Clean washrooms. Friendly staff who can speak English Cantonese and Mandarin. The kitchen is fairly quick. Floors are very slippery when wet.

I would agree with some reviews that it is indeed authentic chinese cuisine, looks yummy But my taste buds beg to disagree.. In short the bbq duck and pork bbq doesn’t taste good. The noodle soup so plain. Even my 100% chinese boyfriend said he doesn’t like it. Thanks to the free tea but the container is so rusty and looks unhygienic didn’t have the picture though.

Nov2024 Authentic Chinese food if you ever have a craving for it. This no frills eatery is a good place to have your bbq fix and the rice topped meals are also popular. Menu is extensive and covers most basic dishes. Service is simple and efficient with counter payments before you leave. Layout is basic but not comfortable for disabled esp the basement toitet with narrow stairs. Ideal for quick bites and small groups.

Mother's Dumplings 0

Mother's Dumplings

Great atmosphere but the food didn’t wow me. It was very enjoyable with interesting flavours in the dumplings, but the dumpling filling didn’t really bring any new flavour profiles to the table and none of the filling combinations I had tasted bold. I had the beef and celery, pork and pickled cabbage and shrimp, chive and egg fillings. These dumplings have very traditional tasting flavours and I will say, the big plus of this place is that all the ingredients taste relatively fresh. Even the dumpling itself and pancake batter taste very light and clean. That being said I personally would prefer a spot that had bolder flavours, but if that’s not your vibe then maybe you’ll like this place

Located near College and Spadina, Mother's Dumplings has earned a spot in the Michelin recommended guide for 2024, which prompted our visit to try it out. The restaurant is fairly good in speed and quality, and the food served was generally good. However, it fell a little short due to the flavours that we were expecting in 'standard' dishes that we try at places to set the initial experience. During our experience, we ordered several items from the menu like the Pork and Chives Dumplings (boiled), Juicy Pork Bun (essentially soup-filled dumplings), Green Onion Pancake, Hot & Sour Soup, and Potato Salad. The Pork and Chives Dumplings were flavourful but did not stand out compared to other preferred dumplings in Chinatown. In contrast, the Green Onion Pancake was well pan-fried, and best in crispness and taste. The Hot & Sour Soup was filling for its medium size, although it lacked the expected sourness. The Potato Salad presented a unique twist, being slightly sweet and spicy, with shredded carrots and thinly sliced potatoes. However, it deviated from the traditional expectations of potato salad, which typically includes a vinegar-based dressing. The service at Mother's Dumplings was very quick to turn around our food and attentive staff who promptly noticed that our dumplings did not include the right amount and proactively told the kitchen to begin cooking additional portions without delay. Additionally, they offer the option to purchase frozen bags of dumplings to take home for later. Lastly, they only take cash or debit.

For a food court the soup is great! The 3 star atmosphere is because the food court itself is dated.

Very popular lunch spot in this area so I decided to give it a try. Reviews are all about the spicy beef noodle dishes so of course I went with something else. :). I tried the pork on rice dish, which comes with a side of veggies and a healthy dash of BBQ sauce. I found the pork a tiny bit dry but the BBQ sauce came through here. Overall still an excellent lunch option that fills you up. I will definitely be returning to try the other dishes.

Qin's Garden 0

Qin’s Garden is a fantastic find! The decor is charming—clean and fresh while still feeling warm and welcoming. It has a casual vibe, and the service is super prompt, which makes for an easy and enjoyable dining experience. I was drawn here after seeing it all over Instagram, especially for the soup dumplings. While they were definitely the largest I’ve had in Toronto, they weren’t the best in terms of flavor. That said, the rest of the meal was excellent. The non-soup dumplings, noodle dishes, and rice dishes were all standouts—well-balanced in both flavors and textures, with generous portions and bold flavors. The extensive menu means there’s plenty more to explore, and I can’t wait to go back and try more dishes. If you’re coming for the soup dumplings, they’re worth a try if you prioritize size over taste, but otherwise, skip them and dive into the rest of the menu.

Amazing restaurant. Went there for dinner, and the soup dumplings were delicious, same with the pan fried dumplings, and had one of the best fried rice I’ve ever had. Food wise, it was extremely good. The restaurant atmosphere did not disappoint as well, it was beautiful, and the environment was great. The server was nice and friendly. Overall would highly recommend the restaurant, 10/10!

My favorite spot for a hearty carb meal that also doesn't break the bank. I came here on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm and it was able to get a spot for 2. We shared 2 rice rolls and a bowl of congee. The rice rolls were super thin and filled with stuffing. Highly recommend and would come back.

Friendly staff, opens really early. Food is cheap and cheerful, tasted good in general. Tried alot of stuff and everything was tasty, I like the durian balls and truffle rice rolls, the chinese donuts were good too. Only complaint is the congee was thickened with starch so if you leave it for a while it turns watery. It didn't bother me but I know the connesiurs will hate it

Came here for lunch trying to take advantage of the HST holiday and it didn't disappoint. There was no jacking up prices with prices remaining as before. They have all day breakfast for $12.99 and lunch special for $14.99. Portion size is generous and all lunch combos come with a drink. It looks to be a hot spot for the lunch crowd as the premise is filled the entire visit and there were constant stream of incoming customers and takeouts. We ordered 3 sets of meals for 3 adults and ended up taking away one of them. The Portuguese Chicken rice has the rice fried before baking giving it a good texture. The egg and ham sandwich is of thick bread and egg, easily completing a hearty meal. And the staff didn't mind food sharing and brought extra bowls. Overall a good experience and will come for another visit

Pine House Cafe appears to have become a neighborhood staple in the few months I've noticed it. Situated in the convenient location right beside Sunny Supermarket, it's a great option on the weekend right before or after grocery shopping. The restaurant opens at 11AM and will normally have a line-up a few minutes beforehand. Once it opens, they seat you strategically so the people near the door are people first in line, and they take your order starting from that side. If you arrive before 11:10 or so, I'd say you have a high chance of getting into the first seating. Our group of three ordered three different lunch combos. The price I noted for everything was between $12 - $18. These combos come with a drink (+$1 for a cold beverage) and soup of the day. When coupled with the generous portion of the entree, this is an extremely good deal in my opinion. You could even share two entrees amongst three people, depending on what you order. I saw many older couples sharing one order of Hainanese chicken. Pictured is the Hainanese Chicken, Black Pepper Beef, and Portuguese Chicken on Rice. As you can see, the portions are big! The taste was also great and what you would typically expect of a HK cafe. The service is very fast, if hurried at times.
