Bamboo Garden Restaurant

Possibly my new favorite late night spot?? 🤔 This place is amazing if you're looking for plentiful options that satisfy your late night (and any time) cravings. Sizable portions, great flavor, and classic Chinese yumminess.

I had driven past this spot so many times and as a New Yorker in diaspora it reminded me of the thousands of hole in the wall Chinese restaurants we have in NYC, a restaurant category that in my head I associate with easy to cook, consistent, delicious and cheap food. I ordered chicken and broccoli because it’s simple and delicious and it was my favorite dish at these spots since I was a child, when I took my first bite of my chicken and broccoli I was surprised by a dominant flavor of shrimp, something that has always disgusted me, something that chicken and broccoli just shouldn’t ever taste like. They must have cooked it in a wok that they had just previously cooked shrimp in and not had cleaned the wok. Absolutely unacceptable and absolutely disgusting. The cold sesame noodles, another dish that should be even harder to F up was the worst cold sesame noodles I’ve had in my entire life (a dish I’ve ordered hundreds of times). I called them and told them about the chicken broccoli and they gave me a refund for that dish only, which deserves some respect but anyhow my food was inedible. Don’t come here

Food was awful, it was tasteless and my pad thai was not done. Worst food I had in a long time. I had to throw it in the trash. Just received it 47 bucks wasted

Horrible tasting orange chicken. Has no taste. I know it’s picky but rice cost cents and they couldn’t fill the container to the top.

Golden Chef Chinese Kitchen

I ordered a Chicken Kow that is basically chicken with mixed vegetables, and I asked if I could have it with Black Bean Sauce and Spicy. Black Bean Sauce is like the dark sauce they would use for a Mongolian beef. And when I got home with the order I picked up I got this watery ass soup almost worth some soggy ass vegetables and it looked disgusting. I called them back right away and they said they had a new cook and next time they would ask a different cook to make the order the way I wanted. I don't think there will be a next time.

I've been getting delivery here for months now. The prices aren't bad, but the food has declined. I hate to say that the Wonton soup used to be a weekly staple for me, but as of the last 2-3 months a recipe change has happened and I'm not very fond of it. I will say the same thing about the quality of the rice, as well as the Mongolian Beef. It used to be prepared much better with so much flavor and heat, but now it's a shadow of it former self. I'm assuming there was a chef change at some point earlier this year. In my opinion if you can't get the last chef back, then find a new one. Everything was bland this time, the meals have progressively gotten worse. My soup tasted like water and the Wontons were under seasoned. I would recommend Wok You Want if you don't mind spending a little more, or really for anyone looking for a better place.

House of Hunan Chicago - Lincoln Park

This is quite literally the worst Chinese food in Chicago! The sad thing is I used to order from them years ago and they were actually quite good. The Mongolian chicken was absolutely horrible with no flavor except for the gritty meat. The shrimp chop Suey was disgusting, and the steamed potstickers were literally globs of glutenous dough around lukewarm pork filling. The eggrolls and chicken wings tasted like they were fried in month old rancid cooking oil. I would avoid it all cost! $80 flushed down the toilet.

Enjoyed Country Tofu and Korean Chicken...both very good and generous portions. Avocado was great too.

First time here and was surprised by the stuff not greeting me back!!! we ordered one meal to try (boneless spare ribs) it was served as a dish of rice with boneless pork next to a wonton soup… honestly speaking; soup was served warm not hot enough and almost tasteless! when it comes to rice and boneless pork it was very hard to chew and won’t do it again.

Sometimes you just crave saucy Chinese food and this place always hits - fellow Asians you know what I’m sayinnn👌 Eating their lo mein as we speak with Mongolian beef. Lunch special is GREAT value. I live nearby so the fact that I can order online and pick up my food in 10 minutes is incredible - they’re always ready and kind!

The food was delicious. The inside is simple sit down. When I ordered 2 lunch specials (includes a side of chicken fried rice or white rice, egg drop soup & an egg roll). So I ordered pad Thai & beef fried rice entree. Both she said were lunch specials & wonton soup. Order came with the 2 lunch specials, one wonton soup, 1 egg drop soup & 1 egg roll. The 2 sides of rice, 1 egg roll & 1 egg drop soup were missing. Now when I order I had the woman repeat the order back due to the language barrier. So when we received the order I brought the missing items to her attention. Now she stated when u order the beef fried rice u don't get a side of rice not even the white rice. Then she states that the pad Thai is not a lunch special, so no rice or egg roll. When I placed the order she stated they offer the pad thai as a special & when I had the order repeated back to me it included 2 sides of rice, 2 egg rolls & 2 egg drop soups. Now the menu clearly states that all lunch specials come with those. Bait & switch... We didn't even get napkins. The food was tasty, the service was deceiving & terrible.

The food was average. Not great. Not awful. Just average. The egg drop soup was good, and the egg roll was a little crispy, but O.K. The problem is the price for average food. Two lunch specials cost close to $30. If this was the best Chinese I've ever had, I wouldn't be so negative.

Miss Egg Roll

The food was freshly made. It was still in the wok to keep warm until I returned to pick up. The lady was very nice and food is delicious. The $6 lunch special (tax included ) comes with a palm size egg roll which is yummy. I can’t believe you still can find $6 freshly cook hot lunch in 2024. Im grateful ❤️🙏

Small home kitchen type place with all the feel of a hidden gem. Ms Egg Roll provides a generous selection at unbeatable prices! Ms Egg Roll really piles it on. Freshly prepared-to-order meals well worth tipping for! 4513 N Sheridan Rd Chgo

Have to start this review with mentioning I’ve been ordering carry out from this restaurant for about 10years. Never fails to miss. Highlights for me & my family: combination fried rice, combination egg foo young, egg rolls, chicken wings, Kang bao beef, orange chicken & sometimes soup if I’m feeling under the weather. Will update with more pictures.

I ordered Mongolian beef but what I got was pepper steak gravy and meat passed off as the Mongolian beef. It was horrible and I have been getting Mongolian beef from them over 15 years, but this is the second time that I’ve tried it and it was horrible. I’m done.

I just ordered shrimp fried rice and egg roll. The fried rice was greasy and puffy smh! Then the egg was half cooked taste like mushy meat EW! And the customer service sucks, read the OTHER REVIEWS! I wish I can give this place -0 stars.

This Chinese takeout spot is pretty much what you’d expect from your go-to American Chinese joint. Nothing really stands out, but nothing’s bad either. It’s the kind of place you hit up when you just need to fill up—maybe after a night out. It’s not amazing, but it gets the job done.

LEE WING WAH

Stopped in on a whim, and glad we did! Started off with egg rolls and beef sticks. The egg rolls were large and fresh, the beef sticks crispy and tender. Then decided to go with the scallion pancakes and garlic spare ribs... yum! The ribs were also crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, the order more than enough for two. Scallion pancakes light and tasty...would reccommend!

The owner was so gracious in allowing our larger party to sit outside with various food given some allergies. The level of kindness in ensuring we knew what we were ordering was unrivaled especially in comparison to other service lacking in the chicago area. The chow mein was truly a standout from the entire trip!

Lao Sze Chuan

We had a great lunch at Lao Sze Chuan in Chicago’s Chinatown! Went with a group, and while the service was a bit delayed, the food was absolutely worth the wait – every dish was packed with flavor, authentic, and delicious. Perfect spot for anyone looking to enjoy tasty Chinese cuisine. Despite the slower service, I’d definitely recommend it for the quality of the food!

This place was very good. Service was great and portion sizes were just right.

Tried the roasted duck and the soy chicken. It's very flavorful and tender.
