Jade Wok
I'm back (2nd review.) I've been craving their house-special tofu. It's like no other. And so is their smoked duck: Tender, meaty and flavorful. The other dishes were also very good. A true Hong Kong/Cantonese traditional restaurant. But most of all, the price and free parking is a big plus. I increased my food and service rating 1-star hire. Great VALUE. Family-owned and operated. I usually go to San Gabriel Valley and avoided Chinatown in the past 10 years. But now I'm hooked on the 2 special dishes. [Original post] You must try their house-made tofu dish and their smoked duck. These were the star dishes. The other dishes were good, solid, traditional Chinese dishes. Good food. Good value. Family owned. Free parking (in the back.)
Jade Wok is hands down my go-to spot for fried rice. Their house fried rice is next-level good—packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and loaded with all the good stuff. The rice is never too greasy or too dry, and they don’t skimp on the ingredients. Every bite has the perfect mix of protein, veggies, and that signature wok-charred taste that makes it stand out from other places. The rest of the menu is solid too, but I keep coming back for that fried rice. The portions are generous, so you definitely get your money’s worth. Service is always friendly and quick, and the food comes out hot and fresh every time. The place itself has that classic, no-frills Chinese restaurant vibe, which I love. You come here for great food, not fancy décor, and they deliver every time. If you’re in the mood for some legit, satisfying fried rice, Jade Wok is the spot.
Won Kok Restaurant
This place has very very good dim sum, buns, and more. It is super great taste-wise but I'll have to say that if you are not Asian, you might not be used to how the workers treat you. That's okay, just keep it in mind and if you can ignore that, you will not regret eating here. I recommend trying the buns and dim sum. Super affordable and tasty!
Ok if you’re looking for cheap Chinese food but real good…Won Kok Restaurant is the place! My brother & I got the Special Chinese Family Dinner #1 which consists of: egg flower soup, chicken wings, egg roll, pork chow mein, mushroom chicken, sweet & sour pork (my fave) and pork fried rice (2nd fave). It was a feast to say the least!! There’s a short wait to get a table but once seated it’s decent wait time to have all those food mentioned. Did I forget to mention all those were only $42?? We had to get to-go boxes bec it was a lot! Definitely worth coming. A tiny parking spot for restaurant goers is a plus. They also have a Dimsum line on the side. This wasn’t my first time here….or my last! 😊👍🏼
Broadway Cuisine
*Can you believe they got my order wrong and it was still amazing.* I order something completely different and Im not sure how I ended up with this order. Maybe I should have listened closer when she repeated back my order. Although my order ended up being really good. At first I was upset about the wrong order and decided to make the best of it and give it a try. Man let me tell you that’s some of the best fried rice I have ever had. The egg foo young was good and the gravy was probably the best I’ve had. The staff here are super quick and very friendly. Soon as I walked in they instantly tried to sit me at a table. I do feel kind of bad for the people that probably got my order because I’m sure they probably had go back and get their order corrected. Besides that I’m glad they messed up my order. I wish they would have made a mistake and tossed in some egg rolls!😂😂 I would highly suggest stopping by and giving this place a try. Just check your bag before you leave.
We should’ve walked out the moment that we sat down because we saw people at other tables walk out as well. The food is insanely overpriced, especially for lunchtime. The staff was rude and quick to walk away from the table before we finish talking. Every single piece of food that we had la flavor and when I asked for napkins because our tea spilt they brought over one. We left and the lady chased after us. Confused because we definitely paid but she said we didn’t tip. We told her that the service was got awful and the food was just as bad. “ thanks for running after us though.” is what I said to her at the end of the conversation as we walked out. Coming from someone who’s had over 10 years in the restaurant industry this was one of the worst experiences at a restaurant in my entire life . Rude service, bad food, and about two tables worth of customers at the busiest time of the day, which is lunch.
Phoenix Inn Chinese Cuisine - Los Angeles
Solid Chinese cafe food. The duck with steam buns was delicious. I do wish the skin was crispier but at this price, I am not complaining. The water spinach with garlic was the perfect accompaniment along with steamed white rice. I like to pour the water sauce from the spinach on my rice with a little soy sauce and chili sauce. Yum! The service is typical cafe service. It’s not priced for fine dining so don’t expect fine dining service. It’s great casual cafe style service that comes with great affordable, authentic Chinese cafe food. Good tea and they even sent us home with a treat of mango custard. Will for sure be back when I’m the area but not a go-out-of -your-way spot.
This restaurant is very affordable, every dish looks big and is packed with great flavors. If you come to this place with a group, there is a mandatory tip so don't get surprised by that (it will be included in your check). I got various items from the menu, some of the highlights were the garlic and shrimp fried rice and the Chinese sausage fried rice. The service was great and included tea. My party kept drinking hot tea and the waitress was always on top of it and refilling it. Even when we finished our meal and we were just chatting amongst each other, the waitress still offered tea, it was a very nice gesture and made us feel welcome to stay more. Pending on how much you eat, I recommend getting the number of plates = the number of people in your party. If you cannot finish everything, they offer boxes to take out the rest of your food. I recommend dining in, it is clean and spacious. The only bad thing is that some members of my party went to the bathroom and it was not clean, one of them even said that it ruins part of the experience. For the owner: Please clean the restroom, it would have been a perfect experience.
Full Moon House
I was searching for lunch after a long day at court and this had good ratings so decided to go here. The waiter was so helpful in finding parking he came out of the restaurant to tell me where to park. They have an arrangement with the building just past them and will validate which was a pleasant surprise. I also enjoyed the hot jasmine tea. I ordered the chicken and vegetables which was HUGE! I had been a little upset at the price hike because yelp was 3 dollars less, but when I saw the portions I understood. I was the only one there, but soon a group of Asian business men arrived and I knew I had a good spot if other Asians liked their food. What I liked about their vegetable mix is that it bol choy and a wider variety than other places. Plus, it was very tasty. I took half home to eat later, but then took compassion on a homeless guy begging and gave it to him. I hope he liked chicken and veggies too!:)
Just had a great business meeting as everyone knows that I love Asian food. So when I went on Google this was the first place that I found and set up my appointment just like that. Surprised that there was no long lines at all because usually that tends to happen. The beef stew plate and chicken fried rice was real solid to me. For food lovers this is definitely the spot to come through to it.
Golden Dragon Restaurant
It’s neat that they validate parking for 2 hours in the valet. The food was really good, traditional canton taste. Servers are quite busy though and hard to get their attention. Food wise it’s there, don’t have to look further if your in the neighborhood for that sort of food
Good dim sum with fast friendly service. Went on Sat morning. Friendly staff auntie walked around with porridge and beef tripes, fried stuff eggplants, rice noodle Chinese donuts etc. Wish I could eat more as two of us were stuff with steam dim sum already. Reasonably price. Not a fancy restaurant but it is convenient located at the heart of Chinatown. Lots of local uncles and aunties enjoying their dim sum.
NEW Hong Kong Chinese Express
The food was surprisingly spectacular, you could actually taste the citrus flavor of the orange chicken, the teriyaki was delicious and tender with very little fat, and the fried rice was not heavy with grease! Very delicious 👌 I guess you could add soy sauce if you desired more saltiness on the fried rice but I enjoyed the cleaner less greasy/salty rice so much more. Same goes for the chow mein noodles (Less grease = easy on the tummy). Employees here were very pleasant to the customer before me and I. Said customer was taking a long time digging through her purse to scrape up change as I waited behind her, my order wrapped and ready to be payed for, the employees kindly did not rush her or give her unkind looks as some rude establishments probably would have and I appreciate that. The interior was charming with lots of house plants and some knick-knacks. Not at the best location being at the corner of Western/King Blvd but I was in/out in less than 5 min and there was plenty of parking in the little plaza where this is located. Note: ATM inside but they accept credit/debit cards with purchases over $5. Think you have to have a quarter to use the bathroom, probably free for paying customers? Not sure. The interior was a little dark and meh but the house plants made a happy difference. You could tell the plants are cared for and meticulously placed hanging around the restuarant. Quality of the plants is a tell tale sign that these owners care for their restaurant, care for the quality of food and services all while working in a somewhat harsh area. (The picture of the plants uploaded does not give the interior justice, it was a quick unfocused shot of the plants nearest the register wall, there were at least 10 more plants displayed around. I think they had a bonsai tree too? Was in a rush, but if you have a min, check out the cute plants! 🌿🌱)
Their Seafood Noodle soup is the best 👌 it's made fresh and has lots of vegetables like I request. If you like the shrimp and fish, they will always accommodate with more of the meat. I prefer more veggies. I've gone to them since 2019 during the pandemic, and they're great with the freshly cooked items.
Panda King Chinese Food
I randomly walked by this place and checked it out. The prices were great and the food looked fresh. I decided to purchase. The lady working there was very nice and she gave me huge portions! I brought the food home to eat and I enjoyed it. Would recommend
A little skeptical because restaurant was empty. I got Chow mein with broccoli beef and a BBQ chicken skewer(?) Umm the chow mein had a pink tint to it but it was surprisingly ok. Broccoli beef looked like yesterday's but it was ok too. The Orange skewer was ok too. Soda machine was out so only can or bottle (I like ice on my drink). The green onions on my food were dried out (totally yesterday's food) I mean it's an okaaaay place if you must have Chinese food. CASH ONLY!
Young King 연경
Very authentic Korean Chinese. Jjajangmyun, Jjambbong, Tangsooyook were very good.
One of the few original mom/pop restaurants left in Koreatown. Been eating here since childhood and the food remains on point, just how I remember it every time. Whether it's your first or 100th time here- (간)짜장면, 짬뽕, 탕수육, 깡뽕새우 are a must! Dine-in highly recommended, it's worth the wait.
Ms. Chi Cafe
We've been watching the 5th season of TOC, and it encouraged us to finally visit, and we were not disappointed. Food is freshly served, delicious, and every bite was tasty. Service was excellent. They were friendly, helpful, and attentive. We'll definitely be returning, Cheeseburger dumplings were our favorite. And the passion fruit yogurt smoothie was exceptional.
I had a mixed experience here I would say. Food was honestly very good, had good veggie options and the beef and broccoli looked worth it. Has a good amount of steak on top of the broccoli. They also have a good selection of beverages to accompany the food. Dirty paper menus is not the move. We walked in at 8:25, the server didn’t seem very happy. Assuming because they closed at 9. Given the location and the great beverage options they have I would say 9 is very early to close for a place like that. They miss out on making more money and make the diner feel rushed. We were quick and left by 9:05. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for. 3 stars because when you go out and spend the extra money you want to be treated well. The server at 8:50 was closing up dragging chairs outside and getting ready to leave.
Fei Xiang Gong
Korean-Chinese-style skewers place. They have this setup where the skewers would *automatically* spin! 🤯 (I'm way more impressed by this machine than I should be. 🤣) Skewers are really yummy; lamb's my favorite. 😋 Also they have the special kind of chapssal tangsuyuk that is made from sticky rice flour and is really fluffy and chewy; I always get it here!
Skewer place with an interesting concept. Self bbq setup is unique and convenient. Great for satisfying cravings. Meat quality is fresh and seasoning is good. But it takes some time for the skewers to cook and there’s limited space. So it might not be a good option for large parties. What I love the most about this place is that they have the most authentic cold noodles I have had. Natural, flavorful broth with chewy soba noodles. Refreshing and delicious.
Ching hai Chinese Fast Food
Went to give this place of Try it’s ok the fried chicken weak on seasoning it taste plane a little bit and the orange chicken is dry not wet for the rice and you can barely taste the orange chicken it taste like store bought orange chicken at the grocery store and cooked it in there restaurant but if you’re trying to watch your sodium this is for you the fry chicken was fresh and hot but like I said weak seasoning barely any flavour
Food was okay, but the service was great. Really nice and friendly.
