Cassia
This could've been a 5 stars but the service was a bit interesting. I'll start with the positives though. Phenomenal food!! The Chickpea Curry, the Mapo tofu and the Kaya Toast were all very delicious. Everything was bursting with flavor, was spiced correctly and just felt so homey. Honestly, everyone should eat here because the food is that good. Where things were lacking though was the service. It seemed like we were being rushed and there was so much space still available. I do have to say, it wasn't as pricy as we thought it was going to be either which was a nice plus.
Cassia is such a solid spot—I’ve been maybe 5 times over the past 5 years, and the food is always on point. The flavors are bold, the dishes feel creative but not over-the-top, and everything’s just consistently tasty. Last night, they surprised us with some complimentary desserts at the end of the meal, which was such a sweet touch. The only thing I’d say is that it’s a little pricey, so maybe not an every-week kind of place, but totally worth it for a nice date night or celebration. Definitely one of my go-to spots in Santa Monica when I’m looking for something reliable and delicious.”
Simpang Venice
I came to Simpang for the first time on Wednesday this week and returned on Friday! That says a lot! What a gem of a place! Great quality food that is reasonably priced, amazing flavors, super cute decor, everything is spotless and the staff is professional and friendly. You can’t ask for more! You gained a new regular customer. I’ll be back again soon to try more of your wonderful food 💛
Gem of a place! Fantastic customer service, pleasant ambiance, and good food. The menu is really well labeled for allergens and the staff is very attentive and listens well to customers' orders. The sauce with the branzino was a little cold by the time it made it's way to me, but otherwise quite good, very flavorful.
bling bling dumpling
Super Dumpling at Fox Hills Mall where Wokcano used to be is cool! The hot and sour soup was flavorful, the California roll fresh, and the complimentary spicy chicken dumpling was a great touch. Edson the bartender took great care of me. Even though I didn’t have a drink. He provided superb customer service—attentive and welcoming, he made the experience even better. I’ll definitely be back! By the way, I’m Christine the Realtor with Pacific Playa Realty—need a new home or food spot recommendation? I’m your go-to! #SuperDumpling #FiveStarEats #FoxHillsMall #ChristineTheRealtor #SupportLocalBusinesses
Great service! On time! Delicious dumplings. They catered a work event and the food was a hit. Will definitely be coming back. Much better than going with a standard chain restaurant.
Tara's Himalayan Cuisine
I had an incredible dining experience at this Nepali restaurant! The flavors were absolutely authentic, and the balance of spices was spot on. Their momo (dumplings) are a must-try – perfectly steamed, with juicy fillings and a delicious dipping sauce that brings everything together. The yak chili was another standout dish, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of heat to awaken your taste buds. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, with subtle Nepali decor that gave it a warm, homely feel. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. If you’re looking for a culinary adventure that combines bold flavors and comforting dishes, this is the place to be. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys authentic Nepali cuisine or wants to try something new. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
Tara’s is our go to for Goat curry and Momo’s. Staff is friendly and take effort to know if we like the food or need something else. Try their Red Sangria, it won’t disappoint you. I like the outdoor seating on a sunny day! Parking is very small and can fit max 2-3 cars so you have to search for street parking.
US Chinese Food
I really didn't get to try a lot of their items but the lo mien and chicken egg roll, decent although they charged me as if I had two egg rolls when I only ordered one. That's my only complain I guess. The place looked clean, the ambience is what it is in places like this. I will have to stop by and try some of their entrees to write I'm more informed review. From the look of it, they also have items that they can make to order and I'm sure will be much better than what's sitting under those heating lamps (which I kind of hate!). I will recommend it if you're in the area and are craving some Chinese American takeout! Salud!
Stopped by this place on 13 April. Been coming here every time I'm in LA for a long time. For $11, I got three meat and half and half chow mein and rice. Food was pretty good, especially the jalapeño chicken. That chicken was fire. Sweet and spicy. Can't go wrong there. Staff were friendly and they do keep the place clean. Highly recommend.
Panda Express
The ordering staff is not friendly. And I said it was confusing by misnaming Manu and it was wrong, but she looked absurd. She left without apologizing and didn't come to take the rest of the order. I was waiting to pay, but the staff didn't come and talked to me and helped me with the payment until a long time later. Severice tooooooo bad!!!!!!!!! I don't want to visit again.
I will never visit a Panda Express again. I should have went to wing stop but I wanted something quick. Anyway, I ordered a bowl at first and she put the most smallest portions I’ve seen in and for over $7. It should have been more, so I told her to switch it to the plate so I could at least feel full. It was $2 more than the plate. The food is NASTY! It was bland, even the sauce. The broccoli wasn’t even good. I’m so disappointed and now I’m forced to east this tasteless food because I paid for it. I can believe they messed up the teriyaki chicken like this. I’m so sad. Oh I forgot, another thing I didn’t like it you have to order 2 meats with the plate. Why?
Hong yeon
I was so hungry that I forgot to take photos before finishing everything! The food was delicious, and I ended up with a clean plate. I ordered the three seafood gan chachiang mein and wen lu mein, and for dessert, they served caramelized Sweet Potato. However, the dessert was brought out in the middle of the main course, which was a bit odd timing-wise. This restaurant offers valet parking, but street parking is quite difficult to find, and it’s important to be cautious since there are homeless individuals nearby. The area around the restaurant is a bit dark, so extra attention to safety is recommended. Overall, the food was excellent, though the surrounding environment felt a bit unsettling.
This is the best Korean Chinese cuisine is Koreatown. This food is delicious and it is a bit on the price side. I am telling you best the best black noodle in ktown. I highly recommend. I don’t care about the review. They have the best service. I wish they have one in N. Cali. We will comeback again.
Zen Mei Bistro
This place is a beloved neighborhood staple. The lemon chicken is one of my favorite dishes. The breading is so thin and crispy, and the dipping sauce tastes like real lemons. I also love the braised string beans and pan fried yee mein noodles. The owner and staff are so nice and attentive, and they also support several Chinatown mutual aid orgs. I love them.
The ladies are really nice, got the pork and century egg congee and it had lots of pork in it compared to other spots I’ve been to around Chinatown! Also got their Singapore noodle stir fry which came with lots of various seafood!! I wish I also tried their fried shrimp but will definitely go back for that next time.
Tian's Dim Sum Restaurant
This is a decent place for close to authentic Chinese (mostly Cantonese) food and dim sum items served all day. The actual restaurant is nondescript but we got excellent, very attentive service. Almost everything we ordered I would get again - veg and egg fried rice, scallion pancakes, Chinese broccoli, beef and udon noodles. The only disappointment was the juicy pork dumplings were not the juiciest we've had. Portions were enormous, each dish could feed at least two.
Mom and pop hole in the wall dim sum spot. Pretty good dim sum. Made to order. Served hot. Scallion pancake and beef roll served crispy and crunchy. Definitely would go again. Feels like eating in my fiancés moms Chinese kitchen. Tea served at the right temperature and not scalding hot like a lot of Chinese establishments. Only ate the dim sum but will try the Chinese dishes next time.
East Garden Restaurant
Stopped in before seeing a show near by and we enjoyed everything. The tea was a nice touch to bring out and was hot and really good. All of the food was flavorful and a nice portion to share. The egg roll were also great. Even got some mango custard at the end and it was a nice way to end a meal. Will visit again if I am back in town
East Garden in Chinatown is a must-visit for dim sum lovers. Their shrimp dumplings are huge and juicy, while the fried dough is crispy and satisfying. The beef rice noodle rolls are soft and tender with just the right amount of sweet soy sauce. We also loved the walnut shrimp—creamy and perfectly paired with candied walnuts.
HONG KONG BBQ RESTAURANT
Great place for lunch. We were in a hurry and didn’t get a chance to try their roasted duck but the dishes we ordered tasted great. Not overly flavored nor drowned in sauces neither. The fruit teas were reasonably priced. The Vietnamese style coffee was extremely loaded with caffeine.
We come to Hong Kong BBQ all the time, and it never disappoints! The food is always delicious, and the atmosphere is casual—nothing too fancy. There's a to-go area at the front counter, and a sit-down area if you want to enjoy your meal there. We always order the wonton duck noodle soup, and it's soooo good! This time, I tried the roast pork wonton noodle soup to switch it up, and while it wasn't bad, I’ll stick with the duck noodle next time! Their garlic pork chops are a must-try, and the Singapore stir fry noodles are amazing too. Always a great experience here! * Service is always good 👍 👏
Kim Chuy Restaurant
Most authentic Teochew noodle soup on this side of the Pacific Ocean. Every time I order from them and take my first sip of the broth it’s like that one scene from Ratatouille. This is what food is supposed to be.
Teochew comfort food. The auntie sounds like my grandmother so I know it's legit. 😂 Real cozy and homey vibes. A little-known gem in Chinatown.
