I have always ordered from this place for years. Recently in the past year or 2 they have gotten new management or just new employees and honestly they are extreme rude and disrespectful. I had a delivery to my house. I was short on cash. I wasn’t able to give a large tip as I always do, but I have what I could. The delivery driver took the tip and proceeded to embarrass me. Absolutely disgusting. I have NEVER experienced this ever with any kind of delivery from anywhere! Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful. I will no longer be ordering from this place.

Been coming here for the past 9 months since moved to this neighborhood. I have tried other Chinese takeouts around but this one has the best taste for and my wife. Most of the usual dishes are good but I found the beef broccoli and the general tso chicken are especially good.

After being disappointed by our go to Chinese take-out place I searched Google and read some reviews and we gave New Island a try and can say we’re making the switch permanently. My husband had general tso’s chicken which had great flavor, the pork fried rice was also good, my son was happy with his boneless spare ribs, I had the chicken and broccoli, I’m not sure if I wasn’t in the mood for it or if the flavor wasn’t what I’m use to, the chicken was tender but I enjoyed the general tso’s chicken more. The egg rolls were very good too, a bonus was not getting the small packets of duck sauce, instead it was the condiment container that was filled with the better duck sauce.

I recently visited New Island, And I was thoroughly impressed with their approach to customer service, especially regarding gluten sensitivity. From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming, eager to assist with any questions I had. What stood out most was their extensive knowledge about cross-contamination and gluten sensitivity. The team took the time to explain their preparation processes, including how they manage gluten-free options to ensure safety for customers like me. They offered detailed information about ingredients and even provided alternatives when needed, making me feel comfortable and confident in my choices. The atmosphere was friendly, and it was clear that customer satisfaction was a top priority. It’s refreshing to see a business that not only understands the importance of dietary restrictions but also actively promotes a safe dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend New Island to anyone with gluten sensitivity. Their commitment to excellent customer service and deep understanding of dietary needs truly sets them apart. I left feeling valued and informed, and I can't wait to return!

Very affordable and delicious noodles. I’d recommend the golden soup with pork. This location has its own self service area with water and to go boxes. The atmosphere is also very nice.

It is not bad. The price is fairly reasonable for some savory rice noodles. The broth is flavorful and the noodles are bouncy. For a heads up, you have to order at the counter and get up to pour yourself a cup of water from a dispenser that takes a while to fill up. There is no need for tips so theres that. Overall, good yummy low budget place.

Terrible. Soup was like dishwater. Egg roll greasy as was the spring roll. Lo mein was served lukewarm with no taste. Server was not attentive. Don't waste your time or money. The nerve wanting 15.00 per person minimum.

My first time here, the food was amazing. The people was so nice very clean. Definitely will be back my new favorite restaurant

awful experience! Called and placed an order for delivery they told me 40 minutes, I gave them an extra 15-20 minutes because things happen and people get busy. I called and asked where my order was and the boy who answered the phone asked me what conversation I had with the coworker who took me order? Like what. I placed an order, gave her my CC info and my food still isn’t here. He then got the manager who said they needed another 10-15 minutes and if I can pick it up. Unprofessional. Awful. My order was never submitted. Change of ownership has ruined this restaurant I used to order from here all the time Now not worth the headache. Stay away. He didn’t even offer me anything to compensate this inconvenience of a situation instead placed me on hold several times because they have their heads in their butts.

I ordered over the phone went to pick it up and man was kinda rude when I asked for hot oil. Also told me it was $2 more just for tiny container which is crazy to me. Probably the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. I ordered pork fried rice and spare ribs. The rice portion was way too little, the rice had no taste and it was hard like as if it was old, barely and pork pieces in the rice as well. The ribs were only 3 not the usual 4-5 like other places. They were overcooked and barely had any meat on the bones. I wouldn’t recommend anyone ordering from here.

This will be our last time ever going to Great Chow. We was there around 5pm 3/21/25, had (or should I say tried to have) dinner with your kids. But the food was so horrible you couldn't hardly eat it. My husband couldn't eat because the meat was cooked way to hard, the veggies wasn't cooked enough (maybe 5 minutes) they was hard like you would go out and pick them out of your garden and eat right there. The rice was very dry to the point it had no flavor. My oldest son loved going there to eat but he even said he was done with it. He complained about the egg rolls being dry and tasteless, the broccoli to hard he couldn't bit it. The chicken being cooked to hard and being dry. He didn't even get the lo mien noodles like normal because his word they look dried out( which they was). The shrimp was way over cooked that it was either hard or chewy basically not eatable. The wings was cooked so long they was dried out. The fried dumplings was burnt and tasteless. I even tried a fresh batch that was brought out but they was the same. When you tell someone that the food was cooked to long all you get is "oh I tell someone". You want to go some place to eat something "good" but you pay for crap and all they offer is there is nothing we can do about it. You don't even get to talk with anyone in charge just an employee that is supposedly some sort of manager without the manager title. Not worth the money they charge for it at all. You will be very disappointed if you go there. Too many there while we was there was sending back plates barely with any food off it. They all said the same thing about the food. Too dry, tasteless, and over cooked. Its a shame that they can't get any better help that is willing to cook correctly. A waste of $75 that was spent there.

The Futrell family visited the Great Chow China Buffet today. We had a great experience. The staff was attentive. The food was fresh and flavorful, and the Hibachi was open. All for a great price. We will be back to try the dinner. See ya soon. 😊

We've been ordering from this place for a few years now. Often when we call the person who picks up is rushing us off the phone or hangs up immediately if we tell them to hold on. If we want to pay with card they rush us through and we can barely give them the card info. Today the woman who picked up was calm and patient and polite. It was such a positive and refreshing change.

I had to actually go in person for a refund, do to poor customer service. The place is dirty that is no where to sit and they have this dumb policy where you have to spend $15. In order to use your debt card. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Stopped to get my daughter a soup. We order from here often and it’s usually fine but today was unbelievable. Staples in the soup. I am sure it was an accident but unacceptable

Ordered wonton soup and it was OK. I ordered the sesame seed a chicken combo with pork fried rice. Was very dry no sauce and the rice seemed burnt and old. If you’re going to have a business specially in a populated area, you should definitely step up your game cause word of mouth in Staten Island goes with very far.

My food was terrible, I ordered orange chicken and it was sour asfc , I ordered fried rice and it literally was just white rice with vegetables, the lo mein noodles was really skinny and crunchy . I rate it 0/10 , DONT recommend.

I ordered bigger plate for black pepper angus beef, firecracker shrimp and black pepper chicken. I was disappointed when I opened my box, the box itself is small than the usual box I got over the states. Chow Mein is plain without vegetables. Firecracker shrimp had no beans, and the black pepper chicken was the worst, there’re no celeries, and chicken was super small like minced and not fresh.

This company needs to be shut down. The establishment is absolutely filthy and their customer service is terrible.. They have no problems making you wait long periods of time for your food. I’m a delivery driver and this is one of the merchants I pick up from, but after waiting 45 to an hour this last time for my customers food, I expressed a few choice words to them and I never received an apology or anything… Instead the red head at the register was laughing as I was talking to someone behind the counter.. Needless to say, I have banned them from being on my pick up list!! My customers mean more to me than this.. This restaurant doesn’t deserve the 1 star I gave them, but it wouldn’t allow the review without it!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!

Ordered on line. Said my order would be ready in 25-30 minutes. Get there, it's been 35 minutes since placing my order. Not ready. An hour later I get my food. The prices are not the same. If you order online, the prices are higher than ordering inside. No mention of the price varient. Tried to say it was Door Dash that hikes their prices. But I picked up my order. It wasn't delivered. Don't go to this restaurant. Very sneaky with price swap. Very unhappy.

I am eating right now and I had to call them to say it’s the best chicken broccoli in garlic sauce. Not only it’s absolutely tasty, this place tenderizes their chicken so it doesn’t look like a sole of a shoes like from any other Chinese places. Happy. Happy.

They are 5 mins away and it took them 1 hour to deliver. Terrible!! Ordered fried wontons and they were so hard and oily. Just threw it in the garbage. My Shrimp Lo Mein had no taste all. And boneless spare ribs with pork fried rice was not it, no taste, rice was not cooked well, very dry. Only the baby fried shrimp was ok, this will be the last time I order.

Can always rely on East Sushi for Asian food!! Price was very reasonable and food was fresh and delicious. Will obviously be back for more soon! Today we had the shumai, spicy Sichuan dumplings, and pad thai. Very delicious!

I drove from New Jersey just to purchase food here. This is a takeout restaurant but it is worth the trip. The crispy pork is delicious and the sushi is great. The price is very reasonable. This is my new favorite place. Food is very authentic. The staff is super nice. Love love love!!!!
