Happy Valley Village
This place is good! China ambiance. Food serving is big for the hot pot. I liked the way it's cooked on your own table. All the food we ordered was really delicious. We were family of three, so there's no way we could finish the hot pot. Good thing, you could take it home for whatever left over on your table. They have complimentary dessert---ice cream! Love it! Definitely we will come back with friends in the future.
Legitimate Northern Chinese cuisine, you come here for the experience when they put a giant iron pot in the centre of your table and wait for it to cook. Portions are quite big which is nice. Interesting to see people of different background come here - many are non-Asian!
Zhang Liang spicy hotpot(Scarborough)
I really enjoyed their spicy bone broth malatang. I got the extra spicy as someone who loves spicy food and didn’t find it to be as spicy as expected. Their chili oil definitely is on the more savory side than spicy so order more on spicy side if you’re a fan. Overall, everything came out to be less than $20 and came out very fast.
A pay by weight soup restaurant that comes with a variety of options to choose from. Restaurant is self serve so you just enter the shop and seat yourself, grab a bowl and then checkout. Once ordered, the waiter will give you all the utensils and the bowl you ordered. Been here a couple of times and typically end up spending less than $20 (minimum is $12/bowl). Make sure to portion right and not overestimate how much you eat; imagine it as if you’re cooking your own noodles and how much toppings you’d add to it. Tried both the tomato and beef broth soup and I honestly love the beef broth soup (got it mild though cause I can’t survive their spicy looool). Not the biggest fan of their tomato soup though but I’ve had friends who had it and they liked it more than the beef broth; just personal preferences but both is good! Definitely recommend trying out ~
Ding Tai Fung
First time trying this location. We ordered the following: 1. Braised beef noodles in soup - good! 2. Green onion pancake - first bite, no taste. second bite, salty. repeat. 3. Pan fried pork dumplings - skin is light, but not much flavour. 4. Shanghai noodles - smells great, but no taste. Would prefer the location at First Markham Place instead. At least you know there's no MSG because of the bland taste.
A nice busy Taiwan/Shanghai cuisine restaurant, bright & fresh interior with a nice vibe, great food of northern Chinese dim sum and noodles, extensive menu, juicy 小籠包, 紅燒牛肉麵 with soft succulent big chunks of beef shank, fast efficient service with helpful staff.
Zhi Xian Hui BBQ & Seafood
Fresh seafood. Delicious dishes. But private room are divided by curtains…noisy both inside and outside the room.
Service is very bad, maybe low staff. All dishes/food are super salty, portion are small, we order the family set of $158 for 4 of us, the black bean steam eel dish has only about 10 paper thin slices of eel, the fry pigeon dish has only 1 but it’s under cook, the skin like broiled pigeon, not fry. We order takeout beef fry rice noodle, the beef is under cooked, still blood running. When We need more hot water for the tea, there is no waitress available, but I saw some of them are in and out to get their bubble tea drink, they totally ignore our table/request. Will not recommend this restaurant, go elsewhere for better food, better service and better price. If there is possible not giving a star, it should be 0 star.
Dumpling Restaurant
We were craving dumplings the other day and what better place to go than a restaurant that is simply called Dumpling Restaurant. We ordered some steamed dumplings and well as some pan-fried dumplings to compare how they stacked up against other dumpling places we have gone to. I’m happy to report that they were pretty darn good. There was a decent amount of meat in the dumplings and they were reasonably priced. Other standout dishes we ordered were the Green Onion Pancake and Pork Bone Soup. The pancake was crispy and thicker than many other places while packing a good amount of flavor. The soup was a good way to keep our palate honest. The meat was extremely tender and the broth had a good aroma. Overall, this place was is a solid choice for people looking to carb-load with delicious dumplings.
Heard really nice reviews about this mom & pop restaurant but my experience was terrible. We ordered the following: lamb dumplings- these were decent Pork soup dumplings- extremely thick skin with no soup in them at all Chicken dumplings- very dry and with thick skin Their chili oil had no flavour at all. It was just oil. The server was fine but I’m almost sure we were served food that had been sitting for a while and was reheated for us.
Liuyishou Hotpot Scarborough
The wait was long; but they offered 12% off on the total bill which was the cherry on top. We did expect the wait, so not a big deal. Grace was our server. She was prompt and always there when we were ready to order. The soup base we had was the tom yum and the mushroom base. Flavors on point. The meat was excellent, especially the beef tongue and lamb.
Overall wait on a Friday night for a 2 person walk in was 90 minutes. Long wait but overall food quality and service inside was amazing. We had the special soup base and pork bone broth. I recommend this combo as one’s spicy while one’s mild for fish and veggies. Meat and vegetables were all fresh. Sauce station was clean as well. Wish there was an online app to wait in line to avoid coming in and waiting.
Lucky Chinese Restaurant
I been going to this location for 20 years and their food has not been bad, but recently their quality has gone down the drain! I order food today and came home. I live in picking. I never post about any restaurant because we are all humans and make mistakes. However, I feel like this is the last straw. So as we were eating, I found a sharp, hard green plastic piece inside their chicken pakora and my husband found a plastic sting-like thing in the chilli chicken. This is not the first time I’ve found dangerous objects in their food. A few years ago I found a GLASS PIECE in the chilli chicken and a time after that I found a piece of that metal wire from those pot scrubbers also in the chilli chicken. This just goes to show they do not follow proper food handling procedures and most likely wash their meat directly in the sink! Tonight I called back and spoke to the lady who took my order. I told her what I found and she said bring it back so we can tell the cook, so they don’t make the same mistake again. I said I am not able to as I live in picking and don’t want for her to replace the food and asked for a refund and she started getting rude and wouldn’t even let me speak. She raised her voice and said she doesn’t want to “listen to my crap” and told me don’t come back to their restaurant and that they will not be taking my order again. Instead of an apology and asking how she can can fix the issue, she made it seem like it was MY FAULT?! Tf? I threw out the food and will be contacting public health! DO BETTER LUCKYS!!
Fast service, great food, the portions are big. I got ginger beef, sweet&sour chicken pieces, honey garlic chicken and mixed chow mein.
House of China Restaurant
Can't say I know Atmosphere because I used Skip, food is always hot and tasty. I don't know how stuff is suppose to taste and if it's been altered for "canada" but Damn it's good. Love the spring rolls too.
The sweet and sour chicken balls were the best I ever had hands down, the sweet and sour sauce, the batter and three freshness. The Shanghai noodles hit too. Would definitely recommend
Lucky Chinese Restaurant
This is one of the best hakka style Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood. Their food is testy with full flavors, generous portions size, and a very extensive menu. The restaurant is clean and well decorated and has a very welcoming atmosphere. The service is quick and pleasant. They don't accept Mastercard only Visa, debit, and cash- which is a little inconvenient.
The chilli chicken didn’t spoil my mood. The quantity is great and the fact this dish comes with rice. What else we need! Chilli chicken was perfectly stir fried and you can smell the wok. And this means that the cook really heated the wok before adding the onions and other seasoning. Also the chicken was crispy. The Singapore rice noodles were great as well. It is moist and the seasoning was well mixed with the noodles. Loved the food and will definitely recommend to others try it out. Important the quantity is great. Keep it up!
Hakka Legend Asian Cuisine
Recently visited Hakka Asian Cuisine, they offer a mixed dining experience with notable strengths in service but room for improvement in the food department. We began with the Chicken Lollipop and Shrimp Wonton as starters. While the Chicken Lollipop was crispy, it lacked the bold flavors we anticipated, and the Shrimp Wonton, though well-cooked, left to leave a lasting impression. For the main course, we tried the Singapore Rice, which was generously topped with seafood, including crabs, shrimps, and calamari. The freshness and quantity of the seafood were commendable, but the dish fell short on flavor, feeling somewhat bland and unbalanced. There was a slight absence of some gravy in every variety, so we ordered chicken manchurian which was absolutely delicious, being the starters dish of the night. The highlight of our visit was the attentive and efficient service. The staff was friendly, quick to respond, and ensured a seamless dining experience, which significantly elevated the overall impression of the restaurant. While Hakka Asian Cuisine shows potential, particularly in its generous portions and excellent service, the food could use more attention to seasoning and flavor to stand out. It’s a decent option for casual dining. Cheers !
I recently ordered from Hakka Legend for a New Year’s dinner gathering with friends, and unfortunately, I was left deeply disappointed. I had high hopes for this meal, especially since I ordered in large quantity to ensure everyone would be well-fed. Sadly, the experience was far from what I expected. The rice was the first letdown. It was poorly cooked—underseasoned, unevenly cooked, and some grains were still hard. It seemed like it had been rushed, lacking the soft, fluffy texture you expect from a well-prepared dish. It was almost inedible, and definitely not something I would want to serve at a gathering. Next, the Chicken Chilli was an even bigger disappointment. The dish was completely bland and lacked any real flavor. What should have been a fiery, savory delight was nothing more than a bowl of onions with a few pieces of chicken tossed in. The lack of seasoning and depth made it taste like it had been thrown together without any thought. It was hard to believe this was the same restaurant that people rave about. To make matters worse, we found three hairs in the food we ordered. That was incredibly frustrating and made the entire experience even worse. Finding hair in your meal is a dealbreaker, especially when you're trying to enjoy a special dinner with friends. Given that I ordered such a large quantity for my friends, this made the whole situation worse. We were all looking forward to a flavorful, satisfying meal, but instead, we ended up feeling let down. I left Hakka Legend upset and embarrassed for having recommended it to my friends. It’s frustrating to spend money on a meal that falls so short of expectations, especially when you’re trying to make a special occasion memorable. I won’t be coming back anytime soon.
Golden House Chinese Restaurant
The food here was pretty good. The chicken balls especially were a stand out. The noodles were decent and the portion sizes were excellent. The red curry was the only thing I thought could have been more flavourful. Overall, a good experience.
I've been ordering food from this place for a couple of years. Honestly the best tasting Chinese food. Their wings are so tasty .. some places have food that has no flavor to it. Golden house chinese looks and taste amazing. They offer 10% off if picking up.. and are fast when delivering. I definitely recommend. Check it out!👌🏽😎
Eden Chinese Food
Very quick service. I went there just before closing, and the food was ready within 5 minutes. Ordered eden special fried rice and Cantonese chowmein. The rice was good, and you can taste the wok hay. I didn't like the noodles it was blant. I had to add more soy sauce and chili sauce to make it flavorful. The vegetable size was really big, not bite-sized. Overall experience was okah
Looking for a nice Chinese takeout dinner. Found this restaurant on uber eats really good food. We ordered 2 combo dinners #2 and #4 and Cantonese chowmein to get the best value and assortment. Our plates and tummys full and we still have left overs for tomorrow! Will definitely order here again. Another order! So delicious! So happy with this place! It's 31st Dec 2024. Ordered Cantonese Chow mein, combo Dinner #2 and #4. Still so tasty, delivered hot and fresh from door dash. I now only order my Chinese food from this restaurant as they prepare with care, include a nice amount and have a great variety in the combo dinners which saves me money but gives us a wonderful feast! I added another picture so you can see the quality is still the best!
