Far East Chinese Food
I really wanted to like this and there were some successes. Overall kinda mediocre. Food was hit and miss with some dishes tasteless. Customer service was horrendous. Value for money was good overall and vegetables were super fresh. If I went again we’ll avoid certain dishes and recommend you do too but there are some wins. - Spring rolls: $1 each: these are terrible. Small. Tasteless. Clearly frozen and bought in. 1/10 - Vegetable Lo Mein: actually really nice! Best part of the meal. 9/10 - Tofu in black bean sauce: completely tasteless and watery: 1/10. - Chicken fried rice: a little light on the amount of chicken and the rice was a bit sticky, but it was a hit overall with our family: 7/10 - Bok Choy: great texture but completely tasteless even though it is fried with garlic. Can’t hate it though as it was cooked well. 7/10. - Beef with vegetables: Very watery but, tasted nice. 8/10. Now, let’s talk about customer service. It’s horrendous! I got yelled at down the phone and then yelled at again when I came to pick up the order. I actually don’t care but, it’s not professional. 2/10. Forget all of the above… the restaurant is absolutely filthy. There is dirt everywhere. If the front is so gross, who knows what’s in the back. 1/10. Advice for management: put someone polite on order taking. Improve the quality of your frozen fried foods that you bring in. And give the front of house a wipe down.
Best Chinese food in the West End, no doubt. My family have literally been ordering from them since before I was born, and nothing else has ever quite compared. My personal favorites are the Cantonese chow mein, General Tao chicken, and the egg rolls are excellent. Only downside is paying with cash, but after working in small businesses, I know the debit card readers are expensive to keep. Helps keep costs on the menu down, however.
Cha Lau: The Dim Sum Emporium
This place is so good we’ve only ordered through Uber eats never been there in person but my god their food is amazing we crave it so often and their chili oil is to die for I wish I can have a whole bottle of it! Look forward to eat a meal from here again.
Very pricey. Regular dim sum dishes(3 har gow) for $10+. Quality was subpar. Too greasy and tasted sour. Dry dumplings and greasy fillings, overall. Pork steamed bun was the worst.
Mai Mai Chinese Restaurant
WARNING! VOMITED WITHIN 1 HR OF CONSUMING 25% OF THE FOOD Please save your self, I read the reviews after eating. I had the general tso chicken with noodles. Forget about the 90% breading to 10% chicken, which is true. Something was very off with the chicken, I think the noodles were below mid but everything was covered in soy sauce and tasted burnt. The chicken had a horrific after taste, I think it went bad or something else was wrong with it. I ate 25% of the food because I was starving but I had to stop because I couldn't bare the taste anymore. I started feeling bloated and had an oily horrible aftertaste in my mouth. I started feeling worse and worse and had to vomit the food out to prevent food poisoning. I do not want to attach disturbing images, just take my word for it. Also the vegetables were near if not expired. All ingredients aren't even worth for consumption by animals. I am by all means not a picky eater and I understand that this is a cheap place, but you have to be able to atleast eat it without getting sick. This place needs to be inspected, fined and SHUT DOWN!
I ordered for the first and last time. I took only few bites of the beef and broccoli with chicken fried rice combo and feel sick. Had to throw it in the garbage, tasted horrible. The beef looked white with no sauce, the rice had no taste to it, even the veggies tasted old. I'm pregnant and was craving some good Chinese.. very disappointed. Should've read the reviews before ordering!
Golden Wok
Known this place for long time, and I think it gotten better over the years. Recently ordered a take out, Ginger Beef and a box of 12 fried chicken wings from appetizer section. Everything tasted fresh, beef was amazing.
Ordered a simple Szechuan chicken with fried rice and wasn’t awful but I know they have made it better before. Rice didn’t taste the same and they cut the amount given. The service wasn’t bad or amazing just in the middle. Lady looks tired which is understood since it’s family owned business (has young child behind counter with her sometimes). All the chairs are removed, so there is no where to sit which I understand since there is a high school across the street that must cause some issues. Overall it was just mediocre and I expected more which I’m sure they are capable of. Would be beneficial if they could find another worker if possible. Furthermore I hope this restaurant improves for the next time I come back and becomes more passionate about their food.
Szechuan Express
They offer literally the best combo in cf fair view ,but the ladies are bit rude, impatient . I've faced that every single time unfortunately
Terrible experience! I picked my food, and then another server came and took items off my plate and put them back. That’s extremely unhygienic and unacceptable. Will not be coming back.
Szechuan Express
We had the veg platter with noodles, spicy tofu and veggies, and veg dumplings on the side. It was really bad that the veggies were raw and couldn't even chew it. The noodles were blant, spicy tofu sauce was a little bit seasoned as it was soy sauce base, the dumplings felt like Bao instead of dumplings. Noodles were blant, had to throw it all out as it was not good, waste of $20. Don't try the veggie option as it's not good. Maybe meat products are good, but i won't recommend the veggie items.
I asked for a shrimp and veggie noodle soup. The lady got my order wrong. Very disappointed. I spent $13 on this bs and had to ask for a bag for myself and had to get my own utensils. Wait was long even though there were just 2 orders that were being prepared. NEEDS MORE FLAVOUR, not boiled vegetables.
Manchu Wok
Extremely Disappointing The lady serving food was extremely rude and unprofessional — no basic courtesy at all. On top of that, the food quantity was very small and the taste was awful. After 3 years in this building, this was by far the worst experience I’ve had.
Wish I read the reviews before going. $13 for plain noodles and a handful of chicken. Bland taste and terrible value.
Oriental Chopsticks
September 9, 2024 I had the spicy pad thai and the spicy orange chicken. Neither were very spicy. It's the first time I've ever had skinny pad thai noodles, and with 50% bean sprouts. The carrots with orange chicken definitely could have cooked longer - I couldn't pierce them with the plastic fork provided. The diet Pepsi was good. Certainly not worth the $18.
Horrible service to start with. Ended up buying a slice of pizza that must’ve been sitting there for days. Please service some quality food at a hospital where people are in need.
Manchu Wok
I sais three vegetable item. They gave me two because noodles are not vegetables. 14.69 is expensive and the cashier was very rude telling me that eggplants are more expensive than meat and making assumptions about me not knowing about it. Vegans, don’t waste your money here. There are better options and kinder people elsewhere.
I have nothing to say, just look at this picture and you will get it. They charged me 14.69$ for this 3 item veg special and he gave me only 2 veggie and said that’s 3 item.
Asian Gourmet
The 炒面was literally the worst ive had ever, also had their eggs with tomato(西红柿炒蛋)which was literally tasted like water and eggs. 报吃
Terrible! Bought lunch today, tasteless chicken and noodles and all floating in dirty oil! Can’t get worse than this. Avoid!
Szechuan Express
The lady offered me a plastic plate and told her I don’t use plastic so she gave me a paper bowl. Then offered me plastic cutlery… same response. Then she suggested chop sticks. She made my dinner 200%. Very accommodating. I’ll definitely be back! Thanks ladies!!
I really like the food here, and the friendly staff. But if the owner is reading -- you need to do something about these new cardboard containers you guys started using a couple weeks or so ago. It leaks on the bottom, and the lids are not secure. Also the cardboard ends up folding in half easily with the food, which can cause accidents. This is not acceptable for takeout. Twice already my food was really messed up by the time I got home, and sauce leaked all over inside the bag. Did you change to these cheap containers to save some money? You will probably end up losing more in business and customer satisfaction if you don't correct it soon.
Panda Chef
Terrible everything. I ordered 4 dishes last night. Not only did it take an extra hour. Which is excusable because it was heavily snowing. But the portions were very small and tasted awful. Try and cold. Gross. It came up to $42 before tax and tip and it only fed 2 people. Honestly one of the worst places I have ever ordered from. Never again.
***This must be a business now operated out of a home kitchen and does delivery only*** Don't bother going to this place as a walk-in, it doesn't exist. However it is one of the only decent delivery Canadian style Chinese food places in the area aside from Tender Trap. Panda delivers super fast and the prices are reasonable.
