I ordered the boneless spare ribs combination comes with pork fried rice and egg roll. It was not what I expected. My rice was filled with that sauce and the egg roll was undercooked. The rice tasted like it was sitting there for a while plus it did not taste like pork fried rice. It was bad. I will never order from the place again .

Definitely in top 3 of worst CF I have had. Ordered lg.veg. fried rice and an egg roll. Rice has no taste and some hard grains, and egg roll tastes like old oil! Cost was $16.50. For that price it should have been worth it.

3/26/25 first time here. My coworker gets food here a lot. So i decided to go with him and get some for our dinner break. I got the chicken lomein special with a soda for $11. It was good and comes with rice! Yeah i know, strange that a noodle dish comes with rice... So brown it was, good rice too! The noodles were good and i would get them again. A great deal for a NYC to-go meal. I will be back

Ordered general tsao chicken set with fried rice and soup. The chunks of meat look big but most of it are batter, meat dry. Supposed to be pork fried rice, but doesn’t have pork and lacking of fried rice taste.

The food is good. slightly more expensive than other Chinese places in the neighborhood. The best food items aren't on the online menu or delivery apps, for example their Pineapple Chicken doesn't show up in the online menu. Best to go in person or order directly from the restaurant without using the delivery apps

I know this place has gotten roasted on reviews but it’s honestly standard Chinese in NY. I got the sesame chicken lunch special on Grubhub - they have a $10 off promo. There’s no way the meal would be worth $17, but for $7 you can do a lot worse!

I was able to snatch a promotion from the Pulsd app for $39 for 2 entrees with 2 drinks (valued at $88); tax and tip NOT included. Securing a reservation was easy. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious, and the serving was plentiful. We ordered 2 entrees, which could be readily shared by 4 pax. The roasted chicken was savory, and the beef soup was perfect for the cold weather. The restaurant's decor is beautiful and interesting, especially if you like vintage and retro items. The location is accessible (a short walk from Herald Sq).

OKAY so this review is long over due. Like 6 months over due 😭. My boyfriend and I were just reminiscing on their delicious roast chicken and remembered we need to give this amazing restaurant a proper review! We were spending the day in Korea Town and stumbled upon the restaurant. Upon arriving we noticed how comforting the atmosphere is and not to mention the live music. I am not a big fan of chicken so trust me when I say their whole roast chicken was to die for. Like mouth watering delicious. Even the breast was packed with flavor. As a cook myself, I was truly amazed. We also had the spicy beef pancake roll (and it is not an american pancake btw lol) it was delicious! I do not recall the names of our entrees but you can reference the pictures to the sever if you’d like to try it they are extremely welcoming. They were both good but my boyfriend’s dish (on the right) was extremely spicy, but he loved it because he can tolerate spice. You can tell them to take it easy on the spice though. We have recommended this place to family/friends. We will definitely be back.

Seems like a nice Asian company with a nice menu and prices. Cute girls at the promotion were giving away presentation boxes for subscription . My teenage daughter loves different Asian stuff and wanted to get a promo box as a gift ) but the nice girls tricked her by saying you have to sign up for a paid memeber to get the free-box😵‍💫. Not kids-friendly. They cheat. I do not recommend . And judging by the numerous negative reviews - this company should be blocked .

Im a rider this app could be good if they got rid of the time slots and just let you sign in, and access your funds same day. The way it is right now it's pretty much a joke

The good: -The atmosphere was very homely and welcome. Something you would expect from a Chinese restaurant owned by a family and respects families. -Service: Very fast and very comfortable. The lady serving us was very kind and respectful while also efficient. -The food was very tasty anything we ordered I would say satisfied us greatly. The bad: -Prices were a bit on the high side. A meal for 2 (all inclusive with tip, side dishes and drinks) as of August 2024 came out at around 65 dollars. To me it was worth it and I would go again to support the shop.

We were staying near by so popped in one night for a quick takeaway, staff really friendly, ordered chicken fried rice, chips and some dumplings. Can’t fault the food, tasted really good, was quick and hot. Would liked to have come back and tried some different dishes.

Ordered for delivery chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce. Order was made as normal. When I called and explained the lady over the phone wanted to argue as if I don’t know the difference. This place used to be good and listen to their customers but I’m not sure what happened.

I wanted this to be so good. The staff are so incredibly nice… the rice and noodles are ok, but we had a weird mochi-like shrimp (free add on) and the orange chicken was just… indescribable. And not quite in a positive way.

I used to go to this place everyday after school, absolutely adore the service, always treated me with smiles with conversations and gave me extra packets of chips with my soup. The lo mein is amazing. Highly recommend

My order: -Kung Pao chicken (large) -Steamed vegetables (small) (Each of these items came with small white rice) The good: the service was very fast. The bad: There was little to no kick to the chicken. The veggies were alright. And all for $25. What happened to the days when Chinese food was cheap and good? Maybe I just didn’t order the right thing.

This place was great when they first opened. The newness has worn off. Ordered chicken wings last night and they were so different from the last time I ordered them, like half the size and the chicken was suspect. Didn't even finished them. Also, the employees can be a lil more hospitable in person and on the phone. Ordered broccoli in garlic sauce and got broccoli stems. The fried rice is like ordering onions with fried rice. The eggrolls are greasy. These items were so delightful and properly prepared when they first opened. What happened? Not really worth the expense of eating out as of lately. Some specials seem to be of lesser quality.

I’ve ordered takeout from here numerous times. It’s always hot and ready exactly when they say it will. Food is great. I mean, yeah, it can be a little oily at times but what neighborhood Chinese takeout isn’t? Overall definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quick bite.

A charming and classy environment. The food quality and service is exceptional. The lamb chop is well prepared and their Duck was tasty. I would make a two recommendations: 1-it was hard eating the Duck and Lamb Chop out of the tin bowls. I recommend they bring it out in a plat bowl, and 2-a sauce of some sort as an option for the Bok Choy. Overall a truly sophisticated experience.

For a fine dining the place wasn’t as I expected. Very tight space for both customers seated and the waiters. I tried the chicken satay (overrated but quite good), and other dishes but nothing stood out. For desserts, I quite liked the fresh lychees.

The chicken did not taste like chicken at all. It looked and tasted raw, disgusting and horrific, like nothing I’ve ever ordered before. I called back and got laughed at and banged on with out giving a single attitude. Don’t do it.

I have been ordering here for over 3 years. They are very nice people. The food is very good. I have tried almost all of the Chinese restaurants within a 10 block radius and this is one of the better Chinese restaurants in the UES.

Been coming here since the 1980’s. Have so many family memories and celebratory birthdays and events at Shun Lee. Just came in and spent a hour waiting for the appetizers to come out. Children fell asleep at the table before food arrived. There were 9 total tables of diners in the restaurant. No appologies. The food tasted rushed and possibly reheated. Extremely low quality. So disappointing to watch your childhood hero restaurant disintegrate into something awful. Poor quality food, enormous wait for appetizers with no contact by waitstaff, and very disappointing experience. Was embarrassed to show my children this place. 40 years later and it’ll be my last time.

Wasn't sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a great surprise. Reminded me of what I always imagined as a traditional New York Asian restaurant. Loved the General's Chicken and the amazing Egg Drop soup. May swing by and get another order. Very prompt and polite service.
