Tea Horse Sichuan Bistro 川知味 0

In the course of two days, we came to this restaurant twice! The setting of Tea Horse is gorgeous, newly renovated and with creative integrations of Chinese culture and modernness. We ordered a sweet and spicy soup, and to start off, it was delicious. I’ve been to restaurants where the soup is too watery and has no flavor, but this soup is authentic and the tofu is soft and silky. Next, the spicy beef tripe also met our standards. it was flavorful, with just the right amount of spice, and chewy beef tripe. For veggies, we ordered stir fried green beans, and when I say that they are DELICIOUS, they really are. The toasted mustard stems and minced meat bring out so much flavor and the green beans themselves are extremely crunchy. Finally, the fried pork kidneys were here. Unexpectedly soft but crisp on the outside, the pork kidneys were simply amazing. Complemented with bok choy, wood ear mushrooms, and spicy sauce, the dish is scrumptious. And don’t be afraid: even though pork kidneys sounds scary, don’t worry, it’s so delicious and you’ll forget about what it is entirely.

Amazing. The crispy spicy shrimp was great, so crispy so tender and flavorful. The green beans, man that was the best execution I’ve ever seen. The pork bits and the dryness of the beans were flawless. Egg tomato was nice, really tender and balanced sweet flavor. The rice was super good, great texture and moist. the spicy beef soup was a bit too strong for me Cool vibes and decor. Nice lazy susan, and place mats. And the detail of the wooden chairs and the door ways and open windows, lovely. And the tea map was fun. Great atmosphere overall

Came here for dim sum and it was scrumptious! Service was excellent - staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Food was excellent. It was very authentic, just like in Hong Kong. Decor is nice and the atmosphere was relaxed, comfortable and happy. Wish we lived in Baltimore so we can come here regularly!

First time visit. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Food cart came out quickly and portion sizes were great. Taste was solid aswell, everything was hot. Definitely easy to over order due to the huge portions. All day Dim sum is a great selling point non morning people.

Here’s the short version: The food was wonderfully flavorful. A lot of cilantro and chili oil, so keep that in mind if you’re among the “tastes like soap” or anti-lipids crowd. Here’s the long version: We ordered 1) Soft Tofu Rice Noodles with pork 2) Roasted Pork Belly Ramen 3) Spicy Garlic Cucumber Salad 4) Sesame Balls 5) Yunnan Puer Hot Tea Pot 6) Xiao Long Bao 1) the soft tofu rice was delicious. Slightly sweet, faintly spicy, cilantro and chili oil heavy. If you’re like my wife, you’re fishing every morsel out of the broth and savoring the flavor. If you’re like me, you’re drinking the stuff by the end of the meal. The Tofu was soft (rather than the typical blocks of tofu) in an appetizing way, and it made for a good mixture/medley. 2) My ramen was also fantastic. I’m a fan of spicy, and I’m a fan of ramen. The noodles got pretty soft before I finished the soup, so keep that in mind if you have a texture sensitivity. I thought it was delicious, but if youre a save-the-best for last type and have a texture preference, you might have to tackle that part first. Same goes for the roasted pork. 3) Cucumber salad cut the flavors really well. It was a pleasant little palate cleanser. 4) Yes. Sweet, chewy but firm, excellent flavor profile. A lovely dessert pastry. We were scraping honey off of the plate. Ask me if I’m ashamed. (No) 5) We were warned that the tea would be sour. I guess? It tasted more like unsweetened green tea. Tasted wonderful to me, and sugar was an option to add. 6) I mean.. soup dumplings. They were perhaps somewhat small? I’d still say they were worth it flavor wise if you’re not doing a cost-value analysis (which I often am). Delightful food. Great presentation. Kind staff. 5/5 will eat again.

This was our second time here and both experiences were excellent! The service is great and the food is so good. The lemongrass pork and shrimp dumplings are a favorite. The long green pepper with pork was spicy and flavorful, perfect with the rice. The Kunming style sticky rice cakes were some of the best rice cakes I've had anywhere. They were soft but still chewy and the sauce was sweet and savory. Don't forget to try the pumpkin cakes for dessert!

Just ordered a regular sized Mongolian beef in theypiled onions and green peppers at the top of the dish and left me with a little bit of beef at the bottom I just paid $24.75 for this meal and two egg rolls that weren't even fresh I will not order here again very unhappy customer

How in the world does this place have so many good reviews ????? The food is mediocre for the location it's in with so much foot traffic. I bought the beef and broccoli with white rice the sauce was way to thick and lacked good quality, the beef was that chewy beef and the white rice was WAAY UNDER COOKED or they added way too much water it was mushy and soggy and so bland that i couldn't even eat it. Rice should be tender not sticky. On a good note the lady working there was accommodating and nice and she replaced the rice. I gotta give this place one star based on the quality and pricing it's way overpriced for such poor quality food.

This place is small and no one else dined in when we were there, but the phone rang off the hook and the doorbell often sounding. The most significant detail I want to mention is the portion size. WOW! I’ve never gotten so much food for my money at a Chinese restaurant. The food is literally served in glass pie plates, to give you an idea of size. It was tasty, too! Many vegetarian options. Veggies were crisp and not overcooked too, which is another great plus!

Call around 8:45 pm to place an order for string beans and rice and I said that I wanted a small order. The person that I spoke with said that it was a lunch special only and she would give it to me. I said that okay I don’t want to place the order, it’s too much food. She said, this time I’ll give it to you, I said okay. I told her that I didn’t want eggs in my rice because I am vegan, she said okay. I arrived about 1 minute before closing to pick up my order but when I got home it was all rice and no string bings. I called the next day to let her know that I didn’t receive the string bings and it was only rice. She argued me down that I wanted all rice. I said to her, you can order small rice anytime it does have to be a lunch special which was the topic of our original discussion when I placed the order. She was so rude and over talking me until I told her that I would not be returning there to order any food. She said okay and hung up. Mind you I have been going there for at least 13 years but with her attitude I will not be returning. How you treat people makes a difference. She called me back to say , okay we can give you the string bings. I told her no, I will not be returning, period. We need to be careful how we treat people, especially customers. Social media is a powerful tool and once the word gets out you loose customers. This situation could have been handled better than she did so it’s their loss, not mine. I chose not to be disrespected!!!!!

Sun Hing always comes through in the clutch! The Orange Chicken combo was spot on—plump, juicy chicken with a perfect crunch, coated in a tangy orange-based sauce. The pork fried rice was loaded with flavorful morsels that made every bite a treat. I also ordered a noodle dish online with a few modifications. When my note didn’t quite make sense, they called me right away to clarify. Not only was my order adjusted perfectly, but the delivery was on time, and the dish turned out exactly how I wanted. Fast, friendly service and great communication—Sun Hing has earned its spot as my go-to for takeout!

I've ordered takeout from here twice now, and I've been happy both times. I ordered the lunch special chicken with garlic sauce, and I got it medium spicy, and it's exactly the spice level I'd expect. The sauce is a little tangy, and it comes with chicken, snow peas, broccoli, carrots, baby corn, green bell pepper, and water chestnuts. Since it's the lunch special, it came with a couple scoops of rice and a side of soup or a can of soda. I went with the egg drop soup, and it's pretty good. I also ordered steamed pork dumplings. They're very good! The dumpling is a thicker dough, and the dipping sauce is on the sweeter side.

I can't recommend this place enough for takeout—it's always my first choice when I'm craving something delicious. Their Beef Lo Mein is a must-try; the noodles are perfectly cooked, the beef is tender, and the flavors are rich and savory. I also love their House Special Fried Rice; it's packed with fresh ingredients and has just the right balance of flavors. The portions are generous, so I always have leftovers for the next day. The staff is friendly, and my order is always ready on time. If you're craving delicious, reliable Chinese takeout, this is the place to go!

Great portion, good value, very tasty. Thank you.

Disappointing Experience at This Peter Chang Location I’ve enjoyed dining at various Peter Chang locations before, so I was quite excited to try this one. Unfortunately, this visit turned out to be a significant letdown. Upon entering, the atmosphere felt more like a food court in a grocery store than a restaurant. When I approached the counter to inquire about seating, the cashier responded rather condescendingly, saying, "You pick up the menu, read the menu, come back here, order the food, and pay for the food." His lack of courtesy was surprising and unprofessional, especially he was just a cashier and he was treating a new customer this way. The food selection was diverse, which initially seemed promising. I ordered the Peking duck (half), bubble pancake, and pork soup dumplings. The Peking duck was decent but felt overpriced for the portion size. The bubble pancake was visually interesting, but unfortunately, the taste was underwhelming and excessively oily, not resembling the typical Chinese pancake I expected. The pork soup dumplings were satisfactory, but again, the portion size didn’t justify the price. It’s worth noting that utensils and water are self-service, which further detracted from the dining experience. Overall, I wouldn’t return to this location, especially considering there are other nearby options like Red Pepper or Tea Horse that offer a far better experience for a similar price.

My date and I stopped here for dinner. I was intrigued by the dim sum (they are kind of like appetizers). So we chose crystal dumplings, cumin lamb skewers, and an order of combo meat lo mein to share. Food was hot, dumplings were freshly made, noodles had good flavor.

Terrible food The shrimp is very tiny, the egg rolls were mushy and flavorless. Shrimp toast was so oil soaked salty lomein. Sweet and sour chicken?? Should be called Sweet and sour breading overly fried.... the only plus was the staff were friendly.... i would never eat again unless I was constipated

Whether you get carry out or delivery the staff is always kind and helpful while placing your order and then you get the food……it’s a flavor explosion in your mouth! The fried dumplings are delicious and the shrimp egg rolls are the best I’ve ever had. And I have never gotten anything that wasn’t yummy!

The food here is always amazing, fills me up everytime

I am on liquids for now from my doctor so I decided to get egg drop soup and if I'm being honest I couldn't consume my soup because it was super bland and taste burnt so I didn't eat anything for the evening because unfortunately I was at work on lunch break

The service was good, and the food exceeded our expectations. The General Tso's chicken was delicious, and the scallops were very good. The complimentary salad was also a nice touch and tasted great. Our only negative observation was the dried rice—it came molded in the shape of a plastic container, which made it look like it had been sitting pre-packaged for some time. Improving the presentation of the rice would make a big difference, especially since everything else was plated so well.

We’re new to the area from a very Asian neighborhood in Southern California and went to East Moon Asian Bistro for the first time after shopping in the area. We entered around dinner time and I saw the signage at the hostess desk about Chinese pork bun (something I loved while living in SoCal) so I was hoping the server would elaborate. Sadly, that didn’t happen and the lack of communication and customer service would be a constant reoccurrence this evening. I liked that being seated (in a booth for the two of us) was quick and that we were given salad with sesame dressing and a glass of water almost immediately. The ambience and decor was nice too. The restroom was also clean. I didn’t like sitting for nearly 20-30 minutes afterwards with no server returning for our order. When the server did come back around, she didn’t say hello, introduce herself, ask if this was our first time or recommend anything from the menu. She also rushed us by trying to take our menus before we had finished ordering. We ordered a Japanese beer, an East Moon alcoholic drink, udon noodles with beef (to share and for home), a happy family entree and a Thai lemongrass meat entree. We would’ve asked for a sushi or appetizer order to eat there and a pork bun order to go BUT our server didn’t seem to want to hear it. I tried to ask a question to signal for her to slow down and communicate but she whirled away without answering. She came back to deliver the drinks, then the food and once more at the end of the meal when she asked if we wanted more water when it would have been more appropriate to ask whether we wanted dessert, to-go boxes and the check. A check-up on water and the current food should have been conducted midway through the meal. Again, I would’ve liked to order pork buns to go but wasn’t given - again - the opportunity before our server was gone again without communicating. After ordering, I went to the restroom to wash up. I was pleased to find it was clean. Upon return to the table, I was also pleased to find these HUGE portions of food - and it was delicious! Overall, we’re getting closer to finding delicious Asian food here in Maryland that compares to my Chinese, Japanese and Korean community in Los Angeles, California but too bad service here was lackluster (long wait til ordering, no intro, no follow-up and rushed). The food was very good and given in generous portions but the dine-in service makes take-out seem like a blessing.
