Hunan Express
REFUND/REPLACEMENT REQUESTED I appreciate your reply. Hunan Express. Yes, any credit for future use or even a redelivery of another menu item of equal value would be fine. I am attaching another picture that represents what the tofu I usually receive looks like from other area Chinese restaurants. Thank you I have ordered tofu from multiple Chinese restaurants and never was it like what I received tonight. The tofu was in a gravy-like brown sauce. I first found it odd that it was packaged in a container used for liquid items rather than a bowl or usual entree container. That was because it was swimming in gravy. Additionally, that gravy sauce was so salty that alone made it unedible. I don't know what kind of recipe was used or if the cook was a new employee, but this was unacceptable. I have ordered from this location in the past and been pleased. Not for this order. I feel a credit to use on a future item would be an acceptable resolution to this issue. I look forward to your reply. Thank you
Staff/cooks are friendly, attentive, and just plain great people. While the food tasted really, really good (IT DOES), I feel I should have received a little more protein, and just a little bit less of the vegetables. I get it, they are trying to keep costs down. But I don't think that the supply-chain issues that existed at the start of the pandemic are an issue, any more, and suppliers need to start easing back on how much they are gouging the businesses, which pass the buck on to the customer. I'm off the soapbox. The food is great, the staff are great. If you like really good Chinese food, you will not be disappointed.
Panda Express
Ordered a bowl of chicken teriyaki with chow mein and it was really good. Place looked clean and service was good. I commented how good the chicken with green beans and onions looked and they gave me a scoop of that in my bowl to try out. Thank you, will return again. Another good trip to and had beef broccoli and chicken teriyaki again. Great place to eat. Updated 7/15/24. Stopped for lunch and got beef broccoli and chicken teriyaki and this time it wasn't so good. Got kinda skimpy on the BB and it wasn't very tasty and there were several small bones in the chicken and now they have only packets of teriyaki sauce. Maybe it was a bad day but it seems the quality isn't as good so I lowered the rating. Not good
The food is consistently good. The portion sizes are generous. The seating are could be cleaned better. All in all I recommend this restaurant.
China Wok
The best Chinese food I have had in a long time! Everything was good, fresh and delicious. The chicken was good in all the dishes (lo mein, sesame chicken & sweet sour chicken) Crab Rangoon was handmade crispy perfection. Can’t wait to go back
Great food. Friendly staff. Clean restaurant. Easy to find. We ordered to go, the food was hot and delicious once we got it home! We will be back!
China Bistro
If you go to China Bistro you will understand the lines in my pictures. For an incredibly reasonable price, you can enjoy some of the most authentic home-style Chinese cuisine in the area. I enjoyed pig feet (猪脚饭)for the first time and will certainly be coming back to try to rest of their menu. The meat is cooked perfectly tender.
Delicious and authentic. The #1, beef pho, is my favorite. The stir-fried rice is also really good and crisp and browned just right. This is not your typical Chinese-American restaurant but the food is fantastic and made to order. Be aware they close typically from 3p-3:30p every day for staff lunch.
New China
I just moved nearby and was looking for a new Chinese food spot. St. Louis is hit and miss on Chinese food, with mostly a lot of misses. I was super happy that the food was terrific at New China! I had the Kung Pao chicken lunch special. Came with fried rice and an egg roll. It was the best I've had in the area. The crab rangoon and fried dumplings were on point. 10/10, I'll be back!
Ordered a large variety of food. None of the shrimp seemed to be finished cooking, the same is true of the honey chicken. The breading on both was still doughy. The lo mein was decent enough to eat. There are only 3 tables inside, so this location is not really set up for customers to dine in.
Bo Fung Chinese Kitchen
This is not Bo Fung that was awesome on Morganford. This is completely a different experience. Do not expect the same level of quality. Generic Chinese food nothing special about it.
Excellent customer service. When I made a mistake and went to pick up from the old location, I called and asked for delivery instead. They were at my door in no time, with a smile. The food was still hot, too!
China King
Quality has been very consistent over the years. The clientele can be sketchy.
Food is GOOD...but... This floor is Filthy McNasty. Way to dirty for a store with at least 6 people working. Makes you wonder about what's going on in the kitchen side. I'll give them a pass today, but next time will be my last time if it looks like this at 1pm.... And I'm dropping pictures.
China Garden on Gravois
So had one of my worst experiences. Live in Arnold/ imperial, easily 25 minutes to get the food home. Hoping the food will still be hot when I arrive. Surely it was. Got the egg drop soup out of the bag, put some ice cubes in it to help cool, went to eat it after blowing on it. Had to spit it out as it burned me immediately . Got a thermometer, the temperature was still over 150 degrees!!!! That is after a half hour, and ice was added, so how hot was it served? Upon further inspection the lid was even warped from how hot it was served!!! I can't comment on atmosphere as I was a pickup order but I can assure you I won't be eating here again. The egg drop soup was WAY WAY WAY too hot!!!
I ordered delivery, House Lo Mein, Orange Chicken with Pork Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Hot Butter Chicken. The person who took my order was great, patient, polite and helpful without being chatty, I got off the phone thinking if they care about making the food as much as they do about taking the order I won't be disappointed and I wasn't! Everything was fresh and packed with care. There is a bit more sweetness to some of their dishes than I prefer, but it fully satisfied my Chinese food craving.
China King
China King is hands down the best Chinese food in Oakville! The staff is always friendly and the food never disappoints. I absolutely love their beef and broccoli and egg rolls! They’re my go-to! They have great hot and sour soup too! I love their party platters! I’ve been coming here for years and will continue to recommend it to everyone!"
4/10/25. Online menu is out-dated. I picked out $32 worth of food on the menu and it ended up being 50.02 after credit card fee and the secret price increase. In another post a reviewer posted a picture of beautiful large, and heavily stuffed crab rangoon. What looks like a quarter cup of filling oozing out of the sides. What I received was maybe a tablespoon of crab meat. Crab Rangoon had about 1/5 of the filling I remember it having. I was mislead on quality and price of every item. I grew up eating here but even if they were upfront about cost it is still a bad enough deal to boycott. This is the last day I eat here. 1)Crab Rangoon(8) Menu-$5.75 Paid-$7.85 (37% increase) 2)Lg Pork fried rice(Qt). menu-$7.95 Paid $10.75 (35% increase) 3)Combo Plate. Menu-8.95 Paid $10.99 + $2.65 [to make rice pork fried] (%53% increase) 4)Hot & Spicy Chicken (Qt) Menu-$9.55 Paid-$12.65 (27% increase) Credit card fee: $1.93 expected subtotal: $32.2 actual subtotal: $46.82 45% increase. To the owner: Before you start offering your condolences on the quality of my visit, know that you are stealing from your customer by using less crab meat. You need to lower your prices and if you can't do that at least meet me halfway and be honest and transparent about your pricing and not a liar. So you are a thief and a liar. I wouldn't bother offering a response unless it says "1) we have updated our online menu pricing. 2) we have lowered our prices. 3) we have gone back to preparing crab rangoon how we used to and it is now more full of crab meat. Any other response indicates you are not genuine so save it. You don't need a $50 bill for a Qt of chicken, Qt of rice, a combo plate and 8 tablespoons of crab rangoon. Can you charge it? sure. Will people pay it? yes. But I won't. To the owners response. I see you have updated the website immediately after my review. You could take responsibility and just say that instead of trying to Deflect. Your prices are still out of control and your crab rangoon no longer looks like the picture. Also you must still be paying for the domain "chinakingoakville.com" Scroll down there is a "trademark 2025" in the bottom left. So you have edited this site within the past 4 months, not 10 years. Try again lady. So you accomplished bullet point 1 at the expense of trying to make me look uninformed then updating your website. Work on bullet point 2 and 3.
China King
We use to love the food here and this was our go to for several years. We had mildly gotten sick from the food here before but thought it was a one off or that it was some sort of bug we caught. Recently got dinner here though and we were sooo incredibly sick from the food. I hope the owners take this review into consideration and make the necessary changes. We truly hate going elsewhere.
I think they have the best egg drop soup in town. They also never raised the price during the egg shortage. The beef broccoli is very flavorful and the broccoli is fresh.
Fortune Express
Really good food. I had a special request for curry sauce with my chicken and broccoli, and they made it perfect. Egg rolls are really good. Fried rice was better than I expected. The crab Rangoons are generic. I guess you can't have it all 😉
This place is a gem. The food is pretty darn good and they give you a lot of it. The prices are very reasonable. They are actually pretty cheap compared to prices in restaurants these days. They stay open pretty late, especially for St Louis, and the service is excellent. I moved into the neighborhood recently. I'm a 3 minute walk from this place. What a great find. They're open until 10:30 which great if you like to eat later like I do. They're very fast as well. I usually pick up, but I ordered delivery a couple of times when I wasn't able to get out, and it was super fast. Also if you live in a 2-mile radius the delivery is free. Deliveries that are farther than this have a pretty low fee also. This is pretty much unheard of these days. Considering most restaurants use a delivery service now, not only do they jack up their prices but you pay an exorbitant service fee. Do not use doordash for this restaurant, you'll do much better letting them deliver it and you'll save a couple bucks too. Also use the menu on their own website. It is more complete than the prices are a bit better than doordash. On one pickup order I didn't check my bag they left out the egg roll. I called them and she they told me that they would include an extra one in my next order. My next order was a delivery because I wasn't physically able to get out. Not only did they give me a replacement egg roll, but they gave me 3 free ones as well. Just great service! Also very considerate. The lady who runs the front is always really busy but always super nice! Great little find in this neighborhood.
Wan Fu Asian Cuisine&Bar
My family and I have been looking for a new Chinese place in St. Louis to find and try out. We happen to stumble upon this one and I'm very glad that we did. I got the hot breast chicken and it was very flavorful and it was a great portion size. We also decided to try the fried rice which was also very tasty. They also had 50% off sushi rolls that day so we tried a shrimp California roll which was great. They have a lot of options on their menu so it was hard to choose so I will definitely have to be back to try some of the other menu options. The food didn't take long to come out And it wasn't too busy. This is a very cute place and had some adorable decorations.
Good service, clean restaurant, and the food came out quickly. The volcano roll is among the best I’ve tasted, but the majority of food did not stand out. We ordered a volcano roll to share as an appetizer, Wan Fu’s version is terrific. Easily our favorite item at the restaurant. The Wan Fu garlic beef was flavorful, both beef and garlic are prominent; a dish worth ordering. Bland - Beef fried rice, combination lo mein, and deluxe seafood. All tasted like they came from an inexpensive Chinese buffet, definitely edible; but not the sort of item you’d expect to order individually. Extras - the ginger had an undesirable taste, it had an off putting taste suggesting it needs thrown away. The wasabi was dry and gritty. Sliced lemons we requested were bad, three slices were brought to us; one cut the same day, another appeared to have been sliced hours before if not the day before, and the last lemon was orange in appearance suggesting it needed thrown out days ago.
