Tenth time. Always good. Always fresh. Great hot and sour soup
San Dong Noodle & Dumpling House
We came here on whim and it was a good choice. I’ve seen this place a few times getting a tea next door but never tried it. I forgot to take more pictures bc I was busy shoveling food in my face but we got the bean sauce noodles, the dumplings in beef broth and the pork & chives baozi and chives baozi that’s pan fried. Everything was SO good, flavorful and HUGE portions. My husband and I could have split one order of the buns and 1 entree. The prices were crazy good and the portion sizes are astronomically huge. Everything was fresh and each dish had a different taste profile. I will def be back. So so good 🥰🥰 Also, everything is self serve—water, condiments, cutlery and to go containers
My absolute favorite restaurant in all of Houston!!! The most delicious roast beef soup you will EVER have you in your life. Service is fast and price is very affordable. Massive portion sizes! The dumplings are divine as well. Highly recommend coming here!!!
Sinh Sinh
Sinh Sinh is one of the staples for locals and travellers alike in the southwest Houston area, the go-to place for family dinners and late night diners. With such a large menu with a vast variety of dishes, from Chinese to Vietnamese, there'll be plenty of hits and misses. Most of the times the flavors are there, but sometimes it can be quite bland or even unsavory. Trust the locals, they'll know what's good. Service is great overall even though it's noticeably understaffed. Parking lot is safe with a security officer on site every night.
Great food! I ordered the general Tso’s chicken and the curry beef. Very great dishes by them self but I’ll admit these dish are not good together as the Tso is overpowering compared to the curry. The curry beef today was spicy but spice did not linger and bother much. At 3PM there wasn’t many of us there to dine I imagine during peak hours the noise in the room might make regular conversation difficult so this is more of a casual place to dine. In general the design of the room was nice. Would appreciate more artwork around but no biggie. This was one of the only restaurants that served enough rice for two people(see photo). I really like this detail. Also, when the water was refilled it was with cold water👍. Great job!
Hu's Cooking
Nut allergy warning: The kung Pao chicken, Dan Dan noodles, and perhaps some other dishes have peanuts, but we were fine with what we ordered. We had no issues getting a table for 6 at around 8:30PM on a Saturday evening. Food came out extremely quickly (less than 10 minutes for almost everything). However, our lotus root order was seemingly forgotten and that took longer, almost 30 minutes. For six people, we ordered: 2x Spicy Chicken (Fried): Two orders because our first vanished so quickly. The chicken is nicely crispy, surprisingly more airy than other Szechuan places I've had. The onion soaks up some peppercorn flavor too. Twice Cooked Pork (4/5): I thought the pork was a little tough on some pieces, but it was overall very good! Mapo Tofu (4.5/5): Excellent portions, great flavor Beef Slices in Golden Hot Bowl (4.5/5): Love the amount of vegetables it came with, very well balanced and goes great with rice. Sauteed Lotus Root (3.5/5): I thought this was a little too oily, but they nailed the texture and crispiness. Matcha Soy Milk Tea with Boba (2.5/5): The matcha flavor is quite nice, but the boba is nothing special. The texture is a little grainy. Overall, a solid option in the area. I'd come back if I was around again but I think I have other favorite Sichuan places in other parts of Houston.
The selection and prices were great. We shared 6 dishes among our party, and everything tasted amazing! The service was so friendly and fast! I can't wait to come back!
Xiaolong Dumpling
Unbelievably good. Surprisingly large servings. Extraordinarily friendly service. This place is the real thing. Try the crystal noodles. Even the wanton soup is elevated. A small place in a former gas station means that there is so,times a wait. But. Worth it.
We had an amazing lunch here, the service was really good and so friendly. We can really recommend the mapo Tofu, won tan soup and the veggie crystal dumplings, we almost forgot to take pictures becauseit was so good. The Thai and milk tea were also delicious and very reasonable priced. We will definitely come back when we get the chance.
Central China
I’ve gone here multiple times and the food is delicious. I’ve had cumin lamb, cabbage and vermicelli (it’s really glass noodles), winter melon and egg soup (it’s actually fried egg and not egg drop), seafood tofu, salt and pepper ribs, and steamed fish (it was drowning in its sauce). The staff was friendly and great. I will definitely come back here.
Went with a friend. Food was fast and flavorful/spicy. Portions were pretty good but a bit oily. There were a lot of good dishes. Be prepared for lots of peppers. The meats were fresh. Some dishes were a little salty but would be perfect beer food. We wanted fried chicken wings with no sauce for the kids and they delivered; there was a good batter and they put in scallions and ginger (surprisingly good). They may want to put this on the menu.
Chow Wok
I absolutely fell in love with this place since the first time I went earlier this year, I get made fun of it for going so much! It’s so delicious though and budget friendly compared to fast food restaurants these days, especially if you’re going for those lunch specials. I love the service as well, since I’m a regular they always greet me with a smile and awesome attitude. If y’all read this, it’s Nathan and this review was long overdue lol!
Staff service is amazing!!! Owner comes out and ensures your food is good and is very sociable! Quick service, it was busy but I didn't wait long for my food and I dined in. The general tso wings are to die for!!
Golden Dumpling House
I went there to order frozen dumplings (pork and shrimp, pork and leek) for takeout. Also, I dined in and ate wonton soup with noodles (was okay) and scallion pancakes (very oily). You order from the front and help yourself to the water, utensils, napkins, and sauces. Make sure to get some of their homemade chili oil. The takeout boxes are also there for you to take if you need it.
This spot offers authentic northern Chinese dumplings. The scallion pancake (葱油饼)and steamed beef dumplings (牛肉蒸饺)were a bit oily, but quite flavorful, the wonton soup was just average. $20 is unbeatable for 3 items with big portions.
Hunan Plus
Once again, the food disappeared before getting photos. Trust me, the food looked great and tasted better. The waitress, who was the owners sister, was friendly and fun. We were accidental travelers and lucked upon this place. What we found was that the place was better than any of the reviews currently out there. Making this a fun little side quest on the way to Galveston. If you are in the area, make this your own side quest. You will not be disappointed.
I love the food on this place but since they raise up their prices which most other restaurants did. Ordering a take out, they need to at least make sure that the food doesn’t burn the styrofoam box. They should at least put an aluminum foil underneath especially when you order pork ribs.
Peking Cuisine
November 2024 We came here from out of town for their family set meals and Peking duck which was one of their signature offerings. We enjoyed the cold appetites and their dessert. The duck was fantastic with the thin pan cake. We also enjoyed the smoke fish. The pricing was very affordable with all great selection. The owner was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant and will come back again. Previously, the parking light and safety was a concern. Good thing the landlord reinvested in this property.
This is our families go to place for great Peking duck among other dishes. The food is always so good and the restaurant can accommodate big party sizes.
FuFu Café
This restaurant is spacious and has a great atmosphere, perfect for both formal dinners and spontaneous visits. The decor is modern and relaxing, making it a great place to unwind. They also offer a large private room, which is ideal for special occasions or group gatherings. As for the food, we enjoyed a variety of dishes, including Hot Spicy Chicken, Sizzling Beef with Black Pepper, Sizzling Beef Short Rib, and Pan-Fried Pork Buns. Initially, We were concerned the Hot and Spicy chicken was just Kung Pao chicken rebranded but the server assured us it was a separate dish. Also, I somehow ended up with a fork…thanksfully I was provided with a fresh bamboo chopsticks before the meal was brought out! Overall, a great experience with delicious food.
The restauarant atmosphere was modern, warm and welcoming. We were disappointed that we were seated and given forks but they made up for it with the delicious food. We ordered Pan Fried Pork Buns, Sizzling Beef Short Ribs, Sizzling Pepper Beef, and Hot Spicy Chicken. All four of the dishes were delightful. Most restaurants will have at least one of the four that are just OK but Fu Fu Restauarant hit the spot with all four dishes. The experience was excellent and we will be returning. P.s. They did bring us chopsticks upon request 😉
W Kitchen
I absolutely love coming to this Asian restaurant! The fried rice is incredible, and the middle options are just as amazing. Every time I visit, the staff is always so attentive and welcoming, making me feel right at home. I always leave here happy and satisfied. Highly recommend this place!”
looks can be deceiving… This had decent reviews on DoorDash for the chicken fried rice so I thought I would get it. Finally, after an hour, my food arrived, and it tastes like somebody dumped an entire bottle of soy sauce in it and that’s the only flavor there is. Absolutely disgusting and the sesame balls are so small. I have never seen any of that tiny from any other Chinese restaurant and they did not have a description of the filling for them on the menu so I don’t care for the flavor.
