Confucius Seafood Restaurant

Fried shrimp balls were very juicy and huge! It tasted a bit like fried chicken breading in a good way, crunchy exterior and the inside was full of flavorful shrimp meat. Fried lobster and stir-fried fish dish with garlic chives were good, too. I believe they had some kind of a deal/discount when you get a lobster dish and order 2 main courses, but might want to ask the server directly. Will come back!

We ordered lobster fried in black pepper. It was okay. Will get a different sauce next time. $28 for small lobsters. People say it’s cheap but not much meat even when they have two lobsters. The duck as bland and cost almost $50. Fried Rice and Calamari were good. The best dish was the morning glory vegetable which was very flavorful. Portions were big.

I enjoy dining at this place, and their food has just the right amount of spices. However, I found most of the dishes to be overly salty, with the eggplant dish with eggs being the only exception. It almost seems like they intend for you to eat a lot of rice with their dishes to balance out the saltiness. Despite this, the food overall tasted good, and it would be even better if they could tone down the salt. The service is fine; it's not top-notch but understandable given the busy times. The staff is generally attentive, though there can be slight delays during peak hours. I also tried their takeout once, and I didn't like it. The food didn't taste fresh and had a strong pork smell. For the best experience, I recommend dining in, as the food and ambiance are much better when enjoyed on-site.

One of my favorite authentic Chinese restaurants in Houston. Dishes are very fresh and flavorful and service is fast. There are many local regulars and the place is popping even on weekdays.

The service and ambiance were what you’d expect from a traditional Chinese restaurant, but the food truly stood out. The duck was incredibly tender and flavorful, perfectly seasoned without being overly salty. The marinated delights combination was exceptional—each item was packed with rich, authentic flavors. If you’re a fan of Teochew cuisine, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

This is a solid Canto spot with good food and decent flavors. As far as the food everything was decent, nothing stood out in terms taste/flavor but everything we ordered was good. Probably my favorite items were the fried sweet potato pancakes (crispy on the outside and soft on the inside), and the crab. Like any traditional Chinese restaurant, you have to break the crab shells yourself so be careful about ordering the crab if you don’t like to eat messy (it will get messy!). Service is relatively fast compared to most Chinese places, and we had a slight language barrier but were able to communicate with our Mandarin. I think I’d return here if I was in the area and craving, overall decent experience!

The best Cantonese restaurant in H town that I have ever been to. The food is amazing and delicious. The waiter and waitress are very friendly. The lunch menu is unbeatable price(10Am to 3 PM everyday). It is highly recommended.

Excellent cantonese food! Taste just like we make at homemade. Thinking about it makes me hungry... The soup is to improve, taste mostly like water, but the rest is amazing. The price is also very reasonable. Coming back and Recommended!

The dishes we ordered were all very tasty and authentic. Staff were attentive . Only 4 stars because of all the food came out just lukewarm, not hot enough per typical Chinese food standard. We will be back though because the food was yummy .

My husband and I love to order a bunch of dishes so we can try or pair them with certain meals. We don’t actually finish all of our food in one setting but everything is still great as leftovers! It looks like the restaurant was recently renovated and seems a lot cleaner than before. Everything was seasoned to our liking and wasn’t too expensive.

Dim Sum King

Best dim sum I've had! My husband grew up eating in Little Saigon in CA and this place hit the spot!! We got our food one dish at a time but it gave us time to savor each dish. The Singapore noodles are amazing!! 😍

This is my favorite dim sum place. I've dined-in and picked up foods here several times and never had a problem at all. The food is very tasty! Even when it's super hot or humid I still like to go there and eat dim sum with a pot of hot tea.

Nut allergy friendly: They have options on the ordering app to highlight a nut allergy. Some dishes do have nuts, so I'd highlight this with the staff. Time to Food: 12 minutes (crispy chicken) to 35 minutes (squid and green beans) We arrived with a party of five around 1PM and there was plenty of seating. Order through an app pretty easily. For five people, we ordered and had a decent amount of leftovers: Sichuan Spicy Crispy Chicken (4.5/5): Extremely crispy yet not too battered. They nailed the texture and meat to breading ratio. A hint of ginger threw me off for a bit, but it was delicious. Lamb Dry Pot (5/5): Awesome blend of meat and vegetables. We loved the lotus root and cauliflower here. I'd come back and order this any day. Twice Cooked Pork Belly (5/5): A classic Sichuan dish executed very well with perfectly tender pork and leeks. Sizzling Squid (4.5/5): We were expecting something different and this was a bit too saucy for me, but the texture was fantastic and the squid was cooked well! Dry-Fried Green Beans (4/5): Flavors were there but the green beans were a tad too soggy, like they got steamed a bit. X's Kitchen / Tasty Sichuan is comparable to Mala in many ways, such as having leeks in the twice cooked pork, but they do dishes in a different style. I look forward to returning!

Very authentic sichuan hot & spicy food - tastes almost identical as China! Can tell it is not preserved as some other restaurants but cooked fresh - some cooking process is very time consuming and doesn’t add a whole lot premium to the menu but nonetheless the chef sticks to the traditional way of cooking and it is much rewarded in the taste!!!

Arrived late on a Monday. Despite the hour, they were friendly and accommodating as they received my to go order. I waited in a quiet yet cheerful little dining room as the staff and I went back and forth of preferences and selection. On a humid November evening, the interior was nice and cool. Even the restroom was quite clean. I'm willing to bet this is a great lunch spot for businesses in the area.

Had to report since "oddly" my post didnt show up...... This place is no longer owned by the older gentleman. I ordered a shrimp lo mein. Noodles were so plain that they had no taste, and shrimp were small but tasty, very vague vegetables. Menu looks new with very little pictures. Not coming back, sorry..

Food is great , large portions and food comes out hot, Which is a huge thing being Asian. Have come here for multiple events , with family etc and has never disappointed. Large food selection and everyone is very friendly and accommodating

Ok, this is my favorite place in the city for Chinese food!! Every time we've been here (about a dozen in total), the service has been wonderful. Today's service was exceptionally expedient, and the food was fantastic, as it always is. We ate from 4 dishes, family style, so that everyone had a little bit of each dish. There are many selections on the menu, but I really enjoyed the different flavors of the menu items we selected today, in particular. So, if I may make a suggestion based on our most wonderful experience today, here's what we had. Whether you're new to this restaurant or have been here before, I think this combination of dishes provides an experience, rich in flavor, varied in textures, and tied well together to satisfy one's palette. Our selections: Flat Rice Noodle with Beef and Brown Sauce . Warm, savory, earthy. Soft textures, just melts in your mouth. This is the reason we come here. We order it every time. At this point, I feel it's safe for me to call this "comfort food." I'm sure it's the equivalent to a large warm towel fresh from the dryer after a shower. Seiously, if you were to throw this dish into the air, it would turn into sunshine. #iykyk Eggplant with Basil sauce. This was the surprise hit for me! I'm normally not a fan of eggplant dishes, but this may have been my favorite thing I had today. Rich, aromatics of the Basil in a darker brown sauce, that had just a hint of a kick to it. Thinly sliced onions were the perfect compliment to the sauce, along with the Eggplant. I found myself going back to it for the sauce alone. It was delicious mixed in with the steamed rice. I hate to keep going on about it, but I can't stress enough how much I just don't care for eggplant and never really have, but this dish was truly STELLAR! Tangerine Beef. (pictured) This one is SOOOO GOOD! Citrus, combined with aromatics from the ginger slices in a brown sauce tie in nicely with the Basil from the Eggplant dish, but is a little sweeter, (which in turn translates well to the 4th dish we ordered). The textures on the beef are fantastically contrasted between the soft, tender, generous slices of beef and the firm, crispiness of the breading around it. Not sure if it's doubled fried, or how they achieve it, but it reminds me of a chicken fried steak type vibe, but the sauce!!!! This was our "big hit surprise" from a few visits back. We only recently discovered it, but it never disappoints. Always a table favorite! And finally, the Walnut Shrimp. (pictured) This one has become a staple for us over many visits. This is the one dish with the furthest deviation of flavor profile from the other dishes, but hits on a different level vs. some other places where we've had the same dish. The shrimp are HUGE! Perfect, thin, crispy texture on the tempura coating. The sauce is light, creamy, and a little more on the sweeter side. Large chunks of glazed walnuts provide a soft sort of crunch. The sauce is nicely proportioned to the (did I mention they ARE HUGE?) shrimp, so as not to overpower it. All of it served atop very thinly shredded lettuce and cabbage, which combines nicely with the sauce and shrimp to give a light and sweet taste of slaw, without feeling like you're eating soggy coleslaw. Cabbage and carrots are still firm, sauce is sweet and creamy. It's simply done, no real big surprises, but the difference is, they do all of these things at an elite level. Everything is executed at the highest level with the freshest ingredients. It's just simply well done. I suggest these 4 dishes and even in the above order...just a small plate of each one, from the flat Noodle to the shrimp. Call it "around the table" and enjoy! I made more than a couple "round trips" myself!

Perla's Chinese Kitchen

I came back to this spot because I had a great experience in the past. To make a long story short, I ordered a 4 piece wings with veggie lo mein and received the exact opposite. Whatever you all do, make sure you're getting what you've ordered because they're false advertising. And to top it off, the guy with the ponytail told me, "it was nothing he could do, and there aren't any refunds." WOW is all I can say, never again will they get my business. However, I had to let you all know, make sure you're getting what you order. I'd highly advise them to revise their menu.

Absolutely amazing! First place to remind me of NY chinese food. I got Shrimp with Broccoli, it wasn’t on the menu but they made it. Definitely going back

I ordered lunch specials here. Ordered 3 dishes. $6.50 each. The lady that answered the phone hung up on me before giving me the total and time frame. I had to call her back to confirm. 30 mins wait for pickup. When I arrived she looked confused and busy calculating the ticket price for another customer. I wait maybe ten more mins there before she pack my orders to pickup. Food overall was good. Portion was good, big box of rice. The outer part of salt pepper tofu was a little hard. Not crispy. So most likely won't order that. the other one bitter melon with eggs and eggplants are good. For the price I'll go back and try their other dishes.

I feel good for my meals here despite dinner or lunch. Every time I come here, I was treated with delicious food and welcoming service. Food always fresh and gorgeous, taste very full. They know how to cook, in the picture, they provide vegetable in the dish that make the taste improved better when serving the beef stew. Price are competitive with other, which means it is better than other places, comparing for the portion and taste. Always come back.

China Gourmet 福州风味小吃

I really want to say I liked this place because of the reviews but this was unfortunately not for my tastebud. The mix noodle tasted mushy and the other noodle dishes were bland and one of the dumplings had a sour taste. The service was pretty bad. We asked for water and the server gave a group of 11 just ONE cup of water. Seems to be many workers but just 1 server. We ended up getting our own water, it was in a cooler (similar to the big Gatorade jugs) This restaurant was a little hard to find since the door was hidden behind the pole. It looked clean but don’t let that fool you. The tables were really sticky, luckily I had wet wipes handy to wipe it down a little. While I was getting my food and spinning the lazy Suzy a spider came crawling out from underneath!

This place serves authentic food of Fuzhou, China. Most food are small tasty dishes. However you can also order few larger dishes off the menu. The cost is very reasonable.
