China Cottage
Visited on a slow night around 5:30. We were greeted very welcoming by the ladies. Food was good with huge portions so we have enough for lunch tomorrow as well. I recommend trying the fruit tea, it is not too sweet but just sweet enough. Very good meal š
I tried their lunch special today for the first time and as soon as I walked in I didnāt have good vibes. The place looked old and outdated and had a weird smell. They only had one table with two customers and it was a lunch hour. That didnāt look good but still gave a shot. I ordered kang pow combo with chicken and shrimp and beef? But I hardly saw any beef and just a few pieces of chicken and maybe three shrimp. Rest was all veggies. It was not a disaster but too salty. But the worse thing was the fried rice. It was just plain rice with soy sauce. Nothing else. It also tasted kind of funny. I ended up not eating it after tasting it. The hot n sour soup was okay. As far as the service there were two ladies one was a cook and the other one cashier. They were nice not rude or anything. But unfortunately I can pretty much tell why they didnāt have a lot of customers. Hopefully they will improve with all these honest feedback. However, Not sure I would go back sadly to say.
Mia China
I ordered 3 hours before closing time, so Iām very disappointed by the Old fried rice, old and hard cream cheese puffs, old and hard wonton chips, and old zoo animal a$$ tasting egg rolls.
I hadn't been here in years, the quality took a dive for a little bit. But I decided to give them another try as I was craving fried rice noodles. I would normally get the veggie version but I got beef this time and oh my! The beef was juicy and succulent. The whole dish was rich with flavor and they didn't skimp on the meat and veggies. The plate was sagging from the weight of the food. I also got the spicy chicken wings which was pretty good with lots of fragrant herbs. The fried biscuits were the only thing I'd pass on next time; they were fried a bit too hard for my liking and I only got them to help meet Uber's purchase threshold. Otherwise, everything was so fresh and delicious. The price was amazing, given the quality and portion sizes. We barely put a dent in half of the food but were filled and satiated.
Taste of China
Good flavor and taste. Positively surprised by their soup dumplings - were freshly made and the skin had a good thickness. Also can recommend Lionās head The layout of this place doesnāt make a lot of sense - tables and chairs block the room too much. But I come for food, not aesthetics :)
What a hidden gem! Everything was so fresh and filling and the server was very attentive! Given the supply chain issues/inflation happening in the US right now, the prices and portions were amazing! The ambiance is great too. I highly recommend! The menu isnāt too big so itās not overwhelming either.
Wing Kee
Itās a little restaurant on Wilcrest just south of Bellaire. We ordered a combo of roasted pork ēč ©ä» and roasted duck ē铨 and it was delicious especially the crispy skin of the roasted pork (just love it)!! We also had the deep fried frog é „ēøē°é that was great! And a veg dish of braised tofu å¬čč±č with black mushrooms! All good.
Came here for a family lunch and was plesantly pleased with the authentic cantonese dishes. They specialized in cantonese BBQ such roast duck, char siu, crispy skin pork belly, soy sauce chicken and more!
Peking Impression
My mouth was full of fat & oil aftet this meal. My stomach was floating because all of the dishes were too oily. Iād expected a lot about the peking duck but it was the one disappointed me the most. The skin wasnāt even crispy. As soon as I bited the skin, my mouth was full of the duck fat. Only the sting bean was 4/5, a bit salty to me. The beef, kidney, and salt egg shrimp were so ā¦ š«š« The servers didnāt pay attention to us.
Best Peking duck in the Greater Houston area! Other dishes are very good too.
General Joe's Chopstix
I ordered the orange chicken with fried rice. They have bugs in their chicken, & when i called to report the incident they told us to come back the next day to either get a full refund or to remake the order. We went up there the next day to get our refund & the manager was being rude, didnāt even apologize for the incident.
I haven't eaten at one of these places since I was a kid. I saw this place on Westheimer and decided to stop in for dinner last night. They give you a ton of food. The prices are very reasonable. The staffless friendly. My order was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Most importantly, the food was delicious. I'll definitely be back.
Lucky Village
Located on a busy street Lucky Village was a pleasant surprise. They have the traditional buffet fare, but had a whole row of mostly seafood dishes which were all tasty and different from typical buffet offerings. They had a small sushi section as well. The deserts were fresh and they had a special treat with their jello offerings. I don't remember the name of the technique but the jello had a solid and clear mix which made it look like a slice of cake. Really a nice touch. I believe for two we spent $38 - $39 dollars for dinner service. I liked the coconut shrimp and pork ribs. I think the flavors were good on everything I ate. Would recommend.
Pretty good for the price! The waitress was very attentive, she kept the glasses filled and the table clean. There was hot food coming out to the buffet often too.
Spicy Hunan
After work on Friday, my colleagues and I went to Hunan Bistro for dinner, craving grilled fish. This long-standing Hunan restaurant did not disappoint. We ordered: - Double Pepper Fish Head: Tender and flavorful, with noodles soaked in a delicious broth. - Spicy Grilled Fish: Well-marinated, served with cabbage, cauliflower, and seaweed. Not too spicy and very tasty. - Stir-Fried Lotus Root Balls and Black Fungus: Crunchy and refreshing, a perfect balance to the spicy dishes. - Maoās Braised Pork: Tender and savory, with a perfect mix of fatty and lean meat. - Long Pickled Beans with Chicken Gizzards: Tangy and refreshing, a great dish to end the meal. We were fully satisfied, and the cost was under $30 per person. It was busy, so service was a bit slow, but overall a great experience.
I use to stop in for the smoked pork fried rice as it was one of my favorite dishes. Through the years either the chef or recipe has changed. Went in today to give it a try and I wasnāt a fan. No smoked flavor and rice was barely fried. Guess it is time to try something new.
Lucky Dragon
Always on the hunt for the best chinese restauarant in Houston. We didn't want to miss out on the Lucky Dragon. Although our server did not speak English, we were able to identify some tasty dishes. We ordered the Honey Sauce Shrot Ribs and the Sizzling Beef. Both of these dishes were fantastic and highly recommended. Portions were decent size but you will definitely want to order one dish per person at the table. They brought out a good initial portion of rice and refilled it when needed. Enjoyed the authentic homestyle experience. P.s.- They brought out forks but they were kind enough to bring chopsticks upon request.
They must have a new chef because the food is so good! This is probably my favorite family style dining on Bellaire now. The lunch portions and pricing is fantastic. I've came here for dinner as well. Get the honey sauce with beef short ribs and the lobster. Restrooms are clean as well and the place doesn't have a weird smell.
Timmy Chan's
Mennnnn!!!!!! I'm stuffed! This place is š£!!! Tasted freeeessshhhh I tasted the rice and it was sharper then a pencil tip ON POINT! ... i love me some timmy
PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE SERVING IT! I ordered here tonight after a 16 hour shift at the hospital because I was too tired to cook and their food is usually decent and affordable. I ordered a large sweet and sour chicken, a large egg drop soup and 2 egg rolls for $20. The order came out quick and I headed home to unwind and eat with my family. The chicken was a little tough and drier than usual but I was happy that everyone had something decent to eat until my husband went for his second serving of chicken and found a HUGE metal shaving in the chicken. I tried calling this location 5x with no answer. We were both too exhausted and needing to do bed time with our kids so we decided to forego going down there. Iām disappointed we werenāt able to contact anyone about this but Iām glad this didnāt end up in one of my family memberās stomach. Besides this incident, everything here had been decent.
Happy Fast Food
I paid for extra shrimp in my special lo mein dish I received a total of 5 shrimp for the whole order. My mistake, I went off of a 2 year old picture that looked good. I guess I'll update it for you guys. Id leave a better review if the food was cooked a bit more. First time trying this place so I tipped the person in front almost half the price of my order.
I've been coming here for about 8 years! I believe they switched owners a couple years ago. The new owners are great and way more welcoming than the previous ones! The food is pretty good and it isn't too pricey! Try the Jalapeno fried rice! You won't be disappointed! It's some of the best fried rice in all of H-Town and I don't mean that lightly!
HONG KONG BBQ
My favorite Chinese BBQ spot but some times you come too late they will be out of rice so they can't sell you the Combo box. The meat are some of the best in town and it is not too salty The price here is still fair for the amount and the quality of the food. The price is still family run and the people here area very nice. It is such a hidden gem in this center.
Fantastic Chinese BBQ spot. They only roast baby pigs so the roast pork (especially the pork belly) is tender and flavorful. Chat siu & roast duck is excellent, and the two-item rice plates are still so affordable, $9.25! Prices are great compared to Sinh Sinh and Wing Kee, and its quality. Go early (before 1pm) for the best selection.
