Lai lai Chinises Jarrell food truck
Ordered pick-up for dinner, and the process was smooth. Customer service was great, the chef was nice, and the food was hot enough for the drive home. Got a variety of items and this is how we rated them. Combo fried rice was okay, a bit bland, but cooked all the way. Wish it had more flavor in the meat. Yakisoba Beef was good. Side of white rice was good. The General Tso chicken was okay. Chicken Katsu was good! Crab wontons were good too. The chef also recommended a dessert, which was sweet. We would come back again.
Very well served portions. We got Sesame chicken and chicken fried rice. They were very good. About $13-$15 each.
Hunan Palace
Under new management! It’s recently reopen with brand new menu. Nice atmosphere and kids friendly. They have the most authentic Taiwanese beef noodle soup in the area. Tried their today’s specials spicy won ton in hot oil and they are delicious! If you like spicy food, you need to try them all out! My kids love won ton soup as well. I’m glad we have something in the area that tastes like home to me.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hunan Palace is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The menu offers a fantastic selection of authentic Taiwanese dishes, each bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The staff was attentive and friendly, making great recommendations and ensuring everything was perfect. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and the quality of their food. Whether you’re craving a quick bite or a hearty feast, Hunan Palace is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back soon! Highly recommend!
Oriental Cafe
The atmosphere is unimpressive. It is less of a restaurant and more of a fast food joint. It seemed that most of the food was in warming trays behind the counter though they do prepare some things to order. I got a fried rice combo which was pretty good and reasonably priced. I will go back for the convenience.
This family restaurant is great!
Taiwan Dragon Chinese Restaurant (台灣龍)
this is my absolute f a a a a v o r i t e chinese restaurant that exists in all of killeen, my family and i have been coming here for years (my mom worked here in her teens), and the food never disappoints. We probably have a couple of family photos hung up on the walls around the place (: portions of the food are great too, the lunch portions are just enough.
Very dissatisfied and disappointed. I grew up eating here and hadn’t been in YEARS, so I decided to stop by tonight after a long day for something nostalgic. I went inside, ordered my food to go and sat down to wait. I ordered the chicken fried rice, that’s it. I’m in there all of 5 minutes and the lady comes out of the back with a bag and head nods me to the counter. Shocked that my order was out so soon, I got up, go to the counter and asked for my condiments (duck sauce) and leave. Get home and open my food and the first thing I noticed was no green onions!! And no eggs. This plate is nothing but steamed brown rice with chicken and carrots in gravy. Nothing fried or flavored about it. HIGHLY disappointed. The quality is not what I expected and I am thoroughly upset. It’s edible, hence the 2 star rating but not good. Won’t be doing this again.
Super Rice
Its better than eating out of a vending machine. But its pretty much a step down from Panda at a premium price. Bland general tsoa chicken, fried rice and iced tea for $20.
Amazing food. The general tso and spicy pork rice was sooo delicious definitely coming back. Service was A1 good 😊
Szechuan Chinese Restaurant
We got take-out from Szechuan Chinese Restaurant in Copperas Cove on a Thursday in our quest to find good Chinese food in the Central Texas area. The restaurant is located well off the main road in a large strip mall. Except for the sign, from the outside it doesn’t even look like a place to eat. Inside, it looks like what you would expect of a Chinese restaurant. The owner was working at the front counter and was very friendly. We got the Bo Bo Platter (for 2) as an appetizer. It has (2 of each) egg rolls, beef steak (sticks), fried shrimp, BBQ ribs, crab puffs, fried chicken wings. The egg rolls and fried shrimp were okay, but we wouldn’t get them again. Both the beef steak and BBQ ribs had good flavor but were overcooked and not worth getting. The crab puffs were our favorite and we also like the chicken wings. Next time, we will only get an order of crab puffs and skip the rest. For our main courses, we got the House Special Lo Mein and the Orange Chicken. The House Special Lo Mein has chicken, beef, and shrimp. The Lo Mein had good flavor and just the right amount of sauce. We both liked it and would get it again. The Orange Chicken was okay. The flavoring was right on, but there was way too much sauce and breading on the chicken. It sometimes seemed like we were eating only breading and no chicken! The fried rice that came with it was good. Finding a good Chinese restaurant is challenging in Central Texas without going down to Georgetown, Round Rock, or even Austin, where there are a lot more options. Szechuan Chinese Restaurant is a family owned and operated local business, and the owner told us that she has been in this location for 30 years. I have been pretty critical of some of the food, but overall, I recommend that you give this local business a try. I’m confident that you will find something that you would like to eat here (without having to drive all the way to Austin!).
Been in Cove for 3 years and never tried this place, wish I’d tried it sooner. I’ve tried the Szechuan and kung pao chicken, as well as the chop suey. Excellent, and the portions are huge. It’s really for take out, (looks like it used to be full service restaurant years ago) but they have tables and the owner will bring out plastic plates and forks if you want to eat there. I go once a week or so and she has a regular stream of folks picking up food or sitting eating at the tables. The owner is very friendly, but she is the only one serving up front, so if she’s not there when you walk in, ring the bell on the counter or yell - she’ll come right out 😀
Mei Yuan Chinese Cuisine
The food is DELISH! Definitely made to order with sublime flavor profiles. We also ordered the pork egg rolls which are packed with flavor. I could eat the egg rolls as a meal by themselves! It is nice to have another option of cuisine in Lampasas. Good Chinese food is hard to find these days. This is a hidden gem in rural Texas if you’re in the mood for fresh vegetables and tender meats. We’re lucky to have Mr. Wong here!
We have been hearing about this food for so long in our small town. We picked a busy Friday night to try it. We did takeout and they were kind in letting us know it would be at least a 45 minute wait. But gave us the courtesy us a call to let us know when it was ready. The Brisket eggrolls and Rangoon were amazing. Between all of us we got sesame chicken, General Tsos chicken, sesame chicken and lo mein. Everyone was impressed. And to be honest I usually find Chinese cuisine too sweet and over sauced. Mei Yuan made me a believer!
First Wok
I'm not impressed even for Cleburne. The spicy options weren't spicy, the steak was too bland, some of the vegies seemed to be frozen. I heard good things about this place, and the first time i went they said they only accept cash so i thought... man this place must be really good. it was okay, but missed the mark for us.
Our food here is always very good. Service is great, and we're always on our way in a very short time.
Lin's China
I do eat here fairly regularly, but only because it's more edible than Texas Teriyaki and they give you enough food to be worth the price. That's all there is to say about this place, though. My biggest gripe is that they use the same sauce for all the sweet chicken. The difference? For example, sesame chicken will have sesame seeds and general tso's is kinda spicy. If you can get around the fact that you won't be getting good Asian food here (or anywhere else nearby), and just treat it like cheap and decently tasty "fuel", then you'll do just fine here. But don't come here expecting better than the leftovers you have in the fridge. I just come here when there are no leftovers and am too hangry to cook something.
I don't understand the high ratings at all. This place is absolutely disgusting. We ordered 70 dollars in food tonight and the only thing that got eaten was the chicken on a stick. And even that was grisly, burnt, and flavorless. My 13 y/o son ate the chicken. The shrimp was OLD and was not cleaned before breading and frying. Poop in the shrimp. One bite and the whole order went into the trash. Lo mein was watery, overcooked, mushy, and also flavorless. Fried rice was crunchy and had an old grease taste with a funky chemical aftertaste. It was also burnt and clumped all together. The Orange chicken, I can't even find the words to describe how gross it was. I took one bite of it and it caused me to dry heave. Even the fried biscuits were awful. They were burnt and tasted like straight up old grease with sugar on it. I have nothing against the restaurant personally and I hate leaving bad reviews but this was the worst food I think I have ever gotten from a restaurant. Literally threw 70 dollars into the trashcan.
Tang Street
They serve traditional Chinese dishes and American-Chinese dishes to cater to those who are not familiar to the culture. We usually order the eggplant with shredded pork, mapo-tofu, the spiced lamb, and the basil fish. It's wonderful. My daughter loves her sweet'n'sour chicken and combination fried rice.
Won ton soup broth is excellent. Pepper beef was very good, especially the sauce. Lemon chicken was nice and crispy. Liked the pork fried rice allot. Egg roll was fresh cooked and tasty. Over all very good Chinese food.
555 Grill
Best crawfish in town!! Chinese flavor crawfish is just amazing. My favorite Chinese restaurant here. Hope there will be more dishes! Very good service. The manager is very responsible for the food quality.
I ordered spicy beef hot pot and jammy fan chicken with rice. I wasn't expecting beef hotpot to have shrimp in it, but I'm not complaining. Be mindful if you have allergies and check with the kitchen before ordering, I guess. There's sliced potato, cilantro, ham, imitation crab, and thinly sliced beef with veggies. So good! Jammy fan chicken is basically braised chicken in gravy with potatoes and shiitake mushroom. Meat was very tender and flavorful. I will go back in person and try other menus as well. Very authentic flavors.
FRICE CHINESE RESTAURANT
Love this place! Opened a few days ago and they're offering 15% off until 1/15/25. Tried it yesterday and the food, service, and atmosphere were wonderful. I recommend their fried noodles and walnut shrimp, both tasted homemade and very fresh. Both orders were large enough to split between two of us.
Food here is so good. I'm working my way through the menu. Prob best authentic Chinese in town. Service is great, too. The guy who serves here is friendly and responsive. Presentation is good and restaurant is nice and clean. I'm a little sad at how busy it's starting to get, but I can't fault the place for gaining in popularity - it's good.
