Saen Thai Cuisine
Been coming here for over 30 years! Great Authentic Thai food. Owner Boon is amazing. Yes it’s mostly take out now and you will be served in takeout containers but don’t miss this gem. Make sure to eat here every time I’m in the Poconos and always bring home a second meal to have back home!!!
Saen Thai, a culinary oasis in the heart of the Poconos, where Boone, the spice sorcerer, orchestrates a symphony of flavors that dance on the taste buds. With a mere mention of "Thai spicy," Boone, the maestro of heat, crafts a masterpiece tailored to my fiery cravings. His mysterious wife, the enchantress in the kitchen, weaves spells of culinary delight, though her name eludes me. On this gastronomic escapade, I embarked on a journey that transcended ordinary fare. A celestial offering arrived – smoked salmon adorned with the intrigue of scorpion peppers, harmonizing with onions and capers in a dance of flavors that left my palate in awe. Drunken noodles, a daring duo of chicken and shrimp, performed a culinary ballet, showcasing the artistry of Saen Thai. This audacious combination, a testament to their innovative prowess, left me wondering, who else dares to reach such heights? Reflecting on past encounters, two stalwarts of Thai cuisine graced my palate – Pad Thai, a delicate dance of noodles, and Green Curry, an aromatic embrace of coconut and herbs. Each dish, a testament to Saen Thai's commitment to authenticity and culinary excellence. Saen Thai stands as a beacon of Thai gastronomy, a haven where every dish is a love letter to tradition. The staff, an ensemble of hospitality virtuosos, adds warmth to the culinary spectacle. To label it the best Thai restaurant in the Poconos is an understatement; it's a gastronomic odyssey that transcends the ordinary, a haven where authenticity meets innovation in a symphony of flavors. Update food is still amazing just wish I got to see Boone when I went in I keep going on days he's not around he makes my day
Just Good Food
Food is amazing, I'm always pleased with the service and flavor, lots of quality control. I can always expect quality carribean cuisine when visiting. As the name say " just good food". That is what you'll get. Price Is very affordable. Energy is always good. I love the mother and daughter team. It's always great to work closely with family. Shout out to the chef in the kitchen who's behind the curtain. Keep doing yall thing. I'm raising kids on this food right here.
Food quality highly inconsistent depending on the day & the cook. Large oxtail & goat for $12 & but full of bones. 4 tiny pieces of plantains. They do rip you off with a simile. These people should be ashamed of what & how they serve. Keep your money!
Thai Orchid
We're in the area, and had a craving for Thai cuisine. Upon looking for a Thai restaurant in the area, we were surprised to see several choices. We decided to try out Thai Orchid because it was open, and close by. Their menu offers a wide selection of Thai curries, and other flavorful dishes. Seating area is not large, but accommodating. Staff was friendly, and service was fairly quick. The most important aspect was that all entrees ordered hit the mark. It was all nicely prepared, with just the right spices. They do offer take outs as well.
The red curry is awesome! I’ve had the others and they’re just as good too, but the red is my favorite. Always a great place to stop when driving to or from New York City to break up the monotony of the drive. Pretty easy on and off the The red curry is awesome! I’ve had the others and they’re just as good too, but the red is my favorite. Always a great place to stop when driving to or from New York City to break up the monotony of the drive. Service is also amazing - the servers are attentive and kind - even while handling a bunch of to go and delivery orders at the same time,! They even sell local honey and baklava at the counter… And they are fantastic!
Derailed Taphouse
Next up on the list. If you’re stay at Great Wolf Lodge Poconos travel to Derailed Taphouse in East Stroudsburg. Only a 20 min drive but so worth it! The Burg wings are a must on the appetizer list. The pork belly bites I would’ve liked a little crispier, just my preference. The preztzel sticks were awesome as well. My burger, was the one way burger, one of their most popular ones there and it was fantastic! These burgers are thick and fresh and amazing. My only thing is I wish the burger has a sauce on it or to go with it, like an au jus would’ve topped it off perfectly! Kids loved their meals, very great service and staff. I give this place a 4.2 outta 5. Well worth it!
They were short staffed and busy but our server did an amazing job! The food was fabulous! The vegan mushroom panini was so delicious and huge! I took half home for my son who also loved it. My boyfriend had the drunken mussels and shrimp tacos and loved them. The only complaint was my pickle looked sketchy and dried out lol but that was no big deal. Editing to add they changed the menu and the mushroom panini is nowhere near as good as it was... I really hope they change it back
Sycamore Grille
Great place in Del Water Gap. We were driving from Chicago to NY and stopped here randomly for dinner, to allow time for NY traffic to die down before we crossed into NYC area. This restaurant is a gem. It was very comfortable and quaint. Old style charm and friendly. The server was a middle age to older woman, and was great ! Food was fabulous. Prices were very reasonable. We would definitely go back !
We came for restaurant week. They were definitely short staffed and a bit slow but the wait was worth it. Everything was delicious. The beet and burrata was incredible. The mussels with peppers were amazing. The butter tasted like pumpkin. I could eat it plain. And the pumpkin cheesecake tasted like it's right from your kitchen. Didn't care for the squash gnocchi. Very gummy. Otherwise, great atmosphere. It was kind of chilly inside. Ample parking lot or street parking. We really enjoyed the experience
Trackside Grill & Bar
I cannot say enough good things about this place! This is my go to spot for both a drink or a bite to eat. Our server Kaitlyn was such an inviting and bright personality. Her service was unmatched as she was attentive, kind, and gave great suggestions. If you’re looking for a nice place to try, give this place a try!
All food except the onion rings was amazing, they burnt the rings. Another server cleared our table and I again expressed the rings were burnt and he took it upon himself to have them make more for me to take home ♥️ Had to wait a few minutes before someone actually spoke to us & seated us. Several servers seen us but just kept walking by. The hostess apologized and said they were busy…maybe 7 tables had people at them…
kitch-en
Freshly prepared and the most delicious breakfast in the area. This quaint little breakfast restaurant is a real gem in the Poconos. The owner and staff are always so friendly, and this is a safe place for the LGBT community too!
Kitch-en is one very special little spot. Holly, the chef, works masterfully with simple fresh ingredients to bring out their magic. She has a sense of nuance, balance and acidity in the way that Michelin chefs do. She also knows her way around a pancake and a quiche. Front of house Dean, June, Sunny and Sophia radiate kindness and warmth and are quick to meet every need or whim within their capabilities. Locals are greeted as friends and made to feel like they’re in an extension of Holly and Dean’s home. The spot is small and cozy so they can’t seat parties more than 5, but if you’re looking for a good meal with a small group of friends or a breakfast or lunch date with your boo you absolutely need to try. I also want to add how inclusive and lovely these folks are, they have regulars of every gender, race and sexuality. As a queer nonbinary community organizer I wouldn’t go there 2x a week if they alienated or ostracized any marginalized community.
NYC Street Grill Halal
Stopped by here for lunch on the way east. We were expecting Mediterranean food. Ordered two rice platters and two wraps. The good: 1. Quantity: a good amount of food. 2. Service: the person there was very nice and helpful. 3. Clean bathroom. 4. Wide selection of desserts. The not so good: 1. Table we sat at could use some cleaning. Leftover rice and sauce stains. 2. For me, there was WAY too much white sauce all over my rice dish - all over the meat, salad, vegetables, bread. Nothing escaped it. I was not used to this And have never experienced it in any Mediterranean restaurants I’ve eaten. I don’t know whether this is the norm but I basically couldn’t eat my food. The wraps were also drowning in the sauce. The falafel were dense, a bit hard on the outside and shaped like pucks - not round with thin crust.
Trade out the spot this evening with my family absolutely loved it fantastic service from a young gentleman. It was very polite and very helpful and kind. The food came out very quickly hot and absolutely delicious. The sweet treats are fresh and absolutely delicious had a hard time choosing which ones we wanted will come back again and again!
The Sarah Street Grill
Nice restaurant Great food Wait was an hour to get food almost but very delicious. My friend had pasta and I had the blackened salmon. It was very flavorful moist well cooked and not fishy tasting at all. It was a melt in your mouth kind of delicious savory of Salmon and I havent had that in a while with a kick of spice and perfect texture. The vegetable medley was seasoned and flavored really well. I was so excited they had organic coffee to drink because all the coffee shops were closed on Sunday evening. A wonderful delight and great food. Service seemed slower here as far as time for food to come out but nice and good area upstairs away from the bar to eat.
4 of us were able to sit at bar without reservations at a busy time (Saturday evening). Food was excellent and didn't take long. Bar service was attentive even though they had a lot going on at once between tables and the bar. Food was delicious and burgers cooked to order. Loved the pickles and peppers. Only improvement would be not as dark (as all bars seem to be but hard to see at times) and soy sauce available for sushi at the bar.
Paradise Hibachi Steakhouse
Ambience: 3/5 Presentation: 3/5 Taste: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Hygiene: 3/5 Average Hibachi Experience – A One-Time Visit We decided to give the hibachi a try, but it turned out to be just okay. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t memorable either – very average across the board. The flavors didn’t stand out, and the portions were standard, nothing that left us wanting more. The experience itself was fun, as hibachi tends to be with all the show and interaction, but unfortunately, the quality of the meal didn’t quite match the entertainment. It felt like more of a novelty than a truly great dining experience. Overall, it’s worth a one-time go if you’re into the hibachi atmosphere, but we probably won’t be rushing back anytime soon.
Fresh sushi, and the establishment is beautiful and clean. I love the separate room for those who are not eating at the hibachi tables. The service was fast and attentive. I have zero complaints and I am super ecstatic to have this spot nearby to order sushi from. Keep up the great work :)
Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant
My experience here was Good and believe me when I said is good. The food was good not oily it felt fresh. The young guy at the counter has good customer service. I moved from new York so I'm still searching for places to eat . I live in mount Pocono, I will definitely stop here again in the future for food. I give A + bathrooms are clean, for me is very important it show's how clean you are.
Been going here since previous ownership and since its been changed it hasn't been good. Went and it was relatively busy, a young child was taking orders and using the register which I thought was a bit strange. The problem I had was that my mom who doesn't eat seafood got 2 pieces of shrimp in her sesame chicken. Mix ups happen and I understand that, but this could be worrisome for people who have serious allergies that things like that are being found in their meals. The pork fried rice was bland and the sauce didn't have a taste. I wouldn't come back here again.
China III
I really wanted to give 5 stars because the food was actually really good. It was our first time trying this spot, we have a family tradition of Chinese food on Christmas Eve. Anyway I was so annoyed that they put my husband's messy, super saucy beef and broccoli in a paper container and not the plastic one with a lid like my sesame chicken was in. All our food was sitting in a puddle of sauce. Not realizing it right away I ruined the tablecloth I just washed! Again......Christmas Eve. What an inconvenience, and that was pretty unprofessional of them. Would I go back? Yes even though some of these other reviews are a turn off. Hopefully we didn't just catch them on a good night where they recently changed the oil
Update: I decided to give it a try again because it's the closest one and it was rush hour. Today we found a screw in our chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce. Picture attached. I won't be going back. I've been going to this place for years and I gotta say their food has gone to crap. Today was the last straw. I bought wings ( they say 4 but it's really 3.5 ) also got an egg roll and dried out old fries. They were all cooked in VERY OLD oil. The fries were so old and had been fried several times. They were dried out on the inside. I thought maybe they were just a bit overdone... But nope they were just hard shells that resembled fries. My 2 yo almost choked on one. See pictures. The egg roll was also hard and dried out. I don't get it. They charge more then they have in the past but the fried foods are not worth it. Disgusted and a waste of money.
