Yu Grilled Fish House (Qia Yu)恰鱼
Unique grilled fish restaurant which is served in a soup, and a heated pan keeping the dish hot. It's on the pricier side, but one fish can be shared amongst 2+ people along with other dishes. Food tastes good, and servers are polite. They can speak Cantonese and Mandarin. Worth trying if you're in the area. The tables are spacious.
Grilled Fish Lovers, This One’s for You! Crispy skin, juicy meat, and a spicy kick that hits just right Loaded with veggies, bold flavors, and seriously addictive sauce. I often eat at this restaurant. All the dishes are delicious.
Yin Ji Chang Fen (Hwy7)
Kinda small inside and quite busy for a weekday lunch. Food was good, decent value. There's a step at the entrance so need to be careful and it's not wheelchair friendly.
The taste of food is good but the congee was quite watery and our oyster congee just had about 6 oysters and cost 10 bucks something. The service is not as expected. We did dine in and take away, we asked the staff to help with the order of take away during our meal, she responded that we have to do it online ourselves. But actually the online ordering page was not so user friendly. First of all, it sometimes stuck and cannot be scroll down. Secondly, it did not provide the option to choose dine in or take away, you have to do it in the remarks of every items you ordered, and before that I thought it was only for the special arrangements for the ingredients only, kind of confused. Finally, there was no options for you to choose the bundles for breakfast since there is a discount in the morning. We used 10 mins to figure it out that we needed to do it online and the staff help to give you a hot drink for free. I did not know why they just made it either online or by staff. Anyways, while we figured it out, the staff told me that I was late for 2 mins so I did not get the promotion.
TAI ER SICHUAN CUISINE 太二酸菜鱼 (MARKHAM)
The food was so-so. Not much kitchen staff, only 2 people working kitchen as opposed to 8 servers outside. The food took super long to come out. The food wasn’t good either, pretty generic tasting food. The portions were small. The chef recommended fish dish wasn’t even good, I would say your average cook from frozen type food. The braised pork belly was tender, but super dry. I think best was the noodles. I guess those tasted the freshest made. Everything else tasted like it just “restaurant reheated” Bill was $55 plus tip for 2 people, we ordered 2 dishes and an order noodles.
The fish dish is fresh and delicious. We ordered 2 people combo. The portion of the food is relatively big. The interior design of the restaurant is modern and you will love eating here. It is clean and services is very good.
Wonton Hut Noodle Bar
A small no-frill Wonton Noodle place, limited menu of noodles in soup & lo-mein only, with a few selection of toppings, authentic Cantonese dumplings, shrimp wonton, fish balls and braised beef brisket, very tasty broth, beef brisket very soft & succulent, service was a bit slow, popular with take-outs.
I've driven by this restaurant many times but had never tried until this weekend. We went after 1:30pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. Got seated right away. We ordered via QR code on the table, and the food came quickly. We got the wonton noodle soup with egg noodles, beef brisket rice noodle soup, and hot milk tea. Wonton noodle soup - 3/5 - nothing special - they were a little on the salty side for my taste, and noodles weren't as flavourful as some others I've had but the texture was good. Beef brisket noodles - 4.5/5 - the brisket was very good. Tender and flavourful, and not too fatty. It needs a little more broth for the noodles. Milk tea - 4/5 - hot, strong, and tasty. No complaints
New City Restaurant
We came here for lunch as I have been craving a HK style dish that I haven't had in a very long time: baked ox tongue with tomato sauce over rice. We also ordered baked Portuguese chicken, and a bowl of noodle soup. After a short wait that was less than 10 minutes, we were seated at a booth. A complimentary cup of tea or water is included. The service was fast, and efficient. New City has different menu specials for breakfast, lunch, or tea time (2:30pm to 6pm). We liked that a choice of soy milk, hot lemon water or HK tea was included with the meal combos that were all reasonably priced from $13 to $14.50 each. You can choose to start with either a borscht or cream soup for the baked specials. The portions were also pretty good as we had to pack up some of the chicken and noodle soup to go. We will definitely be back and with friends and family next time to try the sizzling plate set as well as other specials.
Frequent here and food has been consistently great. Beef is well marinated and tendons not chewy. Services awesome. Thanks so much for the meal 🍽️
Xin Jiang Restaurant/Halal西域食府.清真
Came back to this place after a strong recommendation from a friend. Xinjiang cuisine turned out to be greasier than I expected, and most dishes had the same mix of onions and bell peppers—whether it was the stir-fried lamb tripe, mushroom dry pot, or the lamb meat wrap. The lamb skewers were a bit tough to chew and had too much fat, so I wouldn’t recommend them. We ended up getting a membership card because of the discount, but it was quite inconvenient—the discount is only applied if you physically bring the card. Simply providing the phone number or a photo of the card doesn’t work, which makes things unnecessarily complicated. Aside from the food and the membership issue, the service was pretty good overall.
We are always impressed with the food here. However, the service can be disappointing at times. We had to request tea multiple times before it was finally served. Even getting takeout boxes is a hassle—they’re extremely stingy with them. Instead of providing enough from the start, they bring half a box, then make you ask again for another. It’s frustrating, especially considering how much money we’re spending. Expecting us to fit a beef burger and skewers into the same box is just unreasonable. On top of that, our dumplings never arrived. We finished all our food, yet they still hadn’t been served. When we asked the waitress, she insisted they were coming, but it was clear from her reaction that they had been forgotten. Overall, while the food is fantastic, the service leaves a lot to be desired.
Green Tea Restaurant 绿茶餐厅万锦
On Chinese New Year’s Eve, our family of three decided to find a place to enjoy a reunion dinner. The restaurant only allowed reservations for six or up people, so with just the three of us, we had to go early. I arrived at 5 PM, and it wasn’t crowded yet. However, their sign was too inconspicuous. Our family, arriving in two batches, both mistakenly entered the Japanese restaurant next door. As soon as I walked in, they asked if I was there for the all-you-can-eat option. I was so confused! We ordered simple dishes. As for the Peking duck, I couldn’t tell the difference between that and the roast duck. For a dish that costs nearly $60, I didn’t think it was great value for money. I also ordered Stir-Fried Beef with Chili Peppers (杭椒牛柳) because a few days ago, my daughter made this dish, but the beef strips she cut didn’t seem quite right. So I decided to order an authentic version for everyone to compare. Well, turns out the beef here was cut even thicker than my daughter’s. I guess I misunderstood what this dish is supposed to be like. The roasted pork, supposedly their specialty, was also a bit dry. Overall, it was okay. When we left, it was snowing heavily outside.
We have been to green tea restaurant a couple of times, so far we are happy with the food that we ordered, especially the braised pork belly and abalone ( $38.99 very tender and tasty, big volume), smashed potato with sliced beef ( $25.99 tasty, kids would love) braised sliced eel ( $32.99 unique dish, recommended if you like eel) we love the interior decoration and tableware. The atmosphere is very welcoming and elegant. The service can be improved, not consistent. Overall, it is a good choice if you would like to try some unique dishes from Southern China, such as Hangzhou and Shanghai.
Shaanxi Restaurant
Two of us went for dinner and ordered three dishes: Xi'an style cold noodles (凉皮),Picked bun with lamb in Shanxi style(羊肉泡馍),and Big platter spicy chicken with hand pulled noodles(大盘鸡). Everything tasted so good and authentic except that there was only very few pieces of lamb in the picked bun with lamb dish and most were fat. The chicken dish was very big portion and would strongly recommend.
Plenty parking at Commerce Gate. Authentic northern china-style restaurant. We visited on Wednesday late afternoon, there were only 2 tables and not many people. Good customers service. Believe the lady is the owner. She was friendly and attentive. Prices are decent. We like our sour fish in soup. It's one of my favourite dish anywhere, anytime. Lamb Skewers are flavourful and little spicy.
Chinese Dumpling House
Good dumpling house claims themselves made to order. They have a dumpling station and make it in front of you. I went there last time was very fresh but this time the dumpling wrapper is dry but the filling is juicy. Price is very affordable, $10.99 for 15 pcs. Worth to give it a try.
This is a spot my family and I have been coming since I was a wee tod. So comforting and so nostalgic, the dumplings are unbearable. Also the Cong you Bing is insanely good they really load it up with the green onions. Respects
Ming's Restaurant
Wanted to try this restaurant after someone showed us a social media post about this place. Have to say I wasn't really impressed. The place has some nice deals for afternoon tea where you get some decent value for money, but to be honest I wasn't overly impressed with the food. The hainanese chicken was decent, but the rice in oil served with it wasn't really well made (was a bit too soft) and was a bit bland. The seafood rice dish also wasn't really flavourful either. We did get a free dish of salty and spicy pork because the restaurant was offering it free if you pay cash and spend more than $40. That dish was decent. Service overall was okay. The people working there are pretty nice, but the waitress who took our orders seemed a little absent minded and got our orders wrong.
With a very affordable price, you can enjoy a quick meal! Perfect for when you're in a hurry or for a lunch break. The set meals come with a soup and a drink, and you can pay with a debit card. The day we went, the card machine was broken, and the nice lady just asked us to pay on our next visit. Awesome service!
369 Shanghai Dim Sum
The soup dumplings here are hand made, tasted great! My dad's usually a pretty picky eater when out but this is one of the places where he'll such every dish. I had the 紅燒魚, one of the better iterations of the dish I've had. On top of that, service was great and very caring. Would recommend to anyone looking for authentic Shanghai cuisine.
Had a delightful time here! All their food is so good and very authentic. And service is super friendly! We got the Xiao Long Bao and pan fried dumplings - both were so good and dumplings were perfectly juicy and crisp. Also got the crystal spare ribs and beef noodle soup , so good and very homey 😊 perfect for a cold day ~
Canton Wok
Fast legit canto take-out food court restaurant. I mean the food was good enough and worth more than the price paid. Great alternative to cooking at home. Or sitting down at restaurant paying a more premium price plus tip. Price was $26 tax-in, cash for 2 dishes and also a box of rice. I would say, it’s enough 2 ppl, plus also pack a lunch for next day. Pretty legit deal! Definitely will return when I don’t feel like going to dine-out or cooking. Just grab some take-out on the way home.
This is my 3rd time buying 乾炒牛河 from Canton Wok and I'll never go back again. It's way too oily and I can't even finish half of it. The first time was really good and the 2nd time was so so. This time is extremely disappointed :(
