Fortune Cookie 8
Ordered a dinner plate of lomein and garlic chicken. Only got 2 pieces of chicken. Super disappointing because the only 2 pieces I got were pretty good.
Been going there for a couple of years now. But my experiences of late have not been good.the young guy at the counter wearing the surgical mask for one. His attitude is not great for business. As you approach the counter his stare isn’t good his interaction isn’t good. His customer service skills suck. So I won’t be going back. Don’t act like you’re doing me a favor by serving me or my kind. I won’t be back !!
The Wok
I will never order from here again. I’m tired of restaurants with subpar food. The teriyaki chicken on a stick was dry as a desert and burnt, the subgum wonton soup had ZERO flavor, there’s no way that’s a customer favorite, the egg rolls were just ok as was the beef and broccoli. The hibachi steak and scallops barely had steak and scallops in it and was just ok.
We have only ordered from here for pickup before. Tonight we tried sitting in house. The aroma of disinfectant and fried chinese foods hit when I walked in. The restaurant looked very clean. I love clean! We were greeted immediately though we were the only couple in there. After debating on what to get hubby ordered and our food was soon delivered to our table on thick plastic plates. We first ordered the fried dumplings. These are literally fried, not steamed and pan fried to get the crisp. NO these are like deep fried the whole thing was crispy. Instead of pork they use chicken. Still it works. Hubby got the sesame trio. It was full of flavor and the rice perfectly fried as usual. Lots of broccoli and a huge portion of meat. He even had leftovers! His shrimp had more breading than shrimp but the beef and chicken were fried and doused in sauce Yay. What on this green earth possessed me to order Japanese food from a chinese food restaurant is beyond me...but I did and I lived though to tell you about it. I ordered the hibachi shrimp and chicken. Before I go into this please understand that we have ordered from The Wok a total of 3 times before tonight and never had I ordered anything that wasn't good. With that being said. I was disappointed with my food. There was no flavor. The chicken tasted like broiled chicken, the shrimp like steamed shrimp there was nothing spectacular about this. The "shrimp" sauce that came with was the most flavorful thing on my plate. The rice was really good though. I am disappointed in the hibachi food. I am hoping sitting in the sauce will help it taste better tomorrow at lunch. Since the service was good and hubbys food good they are getting a 3 star. If tonight was my first time here I would never come back. So for now a 3 star until next we go back and I have something different to add.
Shun Lee Palace
I’ve ordered from DoorDash a few times, but today I decided to dine in. This was some of the best special fried rice I’ve had in a long time. I asked if they could make the rice darker, and they added soy sauce—it turned out fantastic. The chicken wings were perfectly crispy without being overcooked. While there were only seven people dining in and I ate out of a starfoam plate, it was clear they have a strong takeout business. I recommend ordering on-site and asking for the fried rice extra dark if you’re craving something reminiscent of classic New York-style fried rice and wings. Side note a robot brings your food so kids are so amazed!
Ordered Szechuan shrimp & scallops and special fried rice among other things. Deliberately decided not to order something else because it specified the shrimp was battered. Guess what - although not mentioned in the description on the Uber Eats menu, the Szechuan shrimp & scallops are in fact battered. Wouldn't have paid such a stupidly high price if I had known that beforehand. (And absolutely no sauce AND the sweetest Szechuan sauce I've ever tasted, not spicy at all?) Also the special fried rice is not fried, FYI. If they say it is, this it the whitest most unfried rice I have ever seen. The spring rolls were mushy inside (so nasty I couldn't take more than a bite) and had two crunchy layers (I mistook it for an egg roll), the pad Thai was bland, and they didn't include fortune cookies! The rest of the food was just mediocre if that, cannot express how disappointed I was with this order. Plenty of better restaurants to order from, don't waste your money.
Panda
Kinda a small place you might otherwise overlook! I was headed to get a sub before I realized Chinese was an option. This was a quick lunch stop…fast, friendly, and courteous service. I ordered Shrimp Lo Mein and a Pork Egg Roll with a drink. This was my first opportunity to see my order in Chinese!
Some of the best Chinese takeout in town. I have been going for years and always like to get their sesame chicken as some comfort food, although everything I have tried there has been good. The inside is a little run down and does not have the greatest atmosphere, but I am never disappointed by this place, except for when it's closed on Mondays.
Tops China Restaurant
Order sesame seed chicken from them and they just sent me hunks of bread with sesame seed chicken sauce on it no chicken at all. This will be the last time eating from them
Sesame chicken was amazing. Hands down the best I’ve ever had. Hope this isn’t a hit or miss Resturant because I will be back
FU SHING
In my opinion, THEE BEST Chinese spot in the Charlotte!! I’m originally from up north and this is as close as you will get. Yes the shrimp fried rice is flavorful and made with yellow rice!! (Yes yellow rice makes a difference 🙌🏾, it’s the best 😂) oh and they have shrimp rolls! I always get extra duck sauce for my rice and shrimp rolls 😋😋 To top it all off, you gotta get the BIG Chinese tea from the fridge with the lemon floating at the top. This is truly a Chinese restaurant classic & 10/10 recommend.
Im only giving 2 stars because the woman at the front counter was extremely nice. But the food is terrible here. I wouldn’t waste your money. I got cream cheese wontons. Which were HOLLOW!! Pictures below. I got the lunch special bourbon chicken and it was so dry!! First and last time for sure at this place
Lotus Cafe
Ok wow 3 years ago this place was the best in Ballantyne for the $….. The past two visits food has been a nightmare…Anything chicken comes out dry regardless of how much sauce it has . I think that is their coverup but ends up a mushy mess with string chicken. Avoid beef at all cost unless you are a boiled in a bag .. “MRE” kind of person .
My first and last time here. It smells horrible like bad eggs and is way too thick like slime. 😓🤢🥴 I was very hungry but I could not even swallow a spoonful.
China Wok
The food was old, chicken was hard and stringy, the shrimp was so dry you could not take the shell off. I asked if fresh food would be coming out soon as the buffet was awful. The waitress asked and told us the woman running it said no more food would be brought out until what was their was gone. The salt and pepper chicken and shrimp had no shrimp in it. When I asked why the buffet bar had no heat to keep the food at temperature, I was told it had not worked in years. The woman running the place was rude to her staff. I heard her tell them she didn't care how long the food sat out there, and she would not put anymore out until it was all gone. You could taste the old oil the egg rolls were cooked in. For 45.00 I had rice and a few pieces of broccoli because from the honey chicken to the paper steak I could not find a piece of meat worth eating mostly hard and dry. My daughter had 3 plates of oranges because she could not eat the first plate of food it was so bad. I will never eat their again. Another couple who came out at the same time had the same experience. As I was talking to another gentleman outside who said " no you don't want to eat there." I asked an employee why the health department had not done something about the food bar and food. We were told she was friends with them so she got away with it. But that is just hear say... we are at home now and none of us feel well from what we did eat. If you want to throw your money away, enjoy it. We will not grace the doors of this establishment again.
Today was the first and the last day I will visit this restaurant. The buffet was the smallest I’ve ever seen. So I’m like ok, since it’s small, maybe it’ll taste delicious….uhm, nope. Lo mein was over cooked and bland. Chicken on a stick, overcooked…Why does the Chinese restaurant’s food not taste Chinese??!! How does that happen? Everything was over cooked…🤦🏽♀️ The only thing I enjoyed eating was the banana pudding. That’s all. Even the fortune cookie is bootleg. 😩My husband didn’t get a fortune in his and mine had a slit of paper in it with most of the words cut off.🤣 Do not recommend!! I thought it would always be reasonably priced for such a ridiculous food spread, but y’all already know…😩🥲😆 🍌 That banana pudding got it that 2nd star. 🌟
Dragon Garden Chinese Restaurant
I'm a contractor in town for work. Stopped by this place on the way to the hotel and I couldn't even make it out of the parking lot before the smell made me dive in. This place is definitely a hidden gem. I ordered a cashew chicken combo and it did not disappoint. Wish I could put this place in my pocket and take it back to GA!
I travel all over mostly NC.,SC,TN, and VA. I live on the road and eat out 7 days a week. The hot and sour soup was neither, very bland with heavy amount of a julienne root vegetable . The pan fried dumpling were good, but unfortunately, we're packed in a Styrofoam box, which made them soggy. The orange chicken was decent, nothing great, the general tso chicken tasted as if it were freezer burned, and the accompanying broccoli was slimy and mushy.
Great China
Never been here, but I ordered sweet and sour shrimp along with two shrimp egg rolls and a soda. The darn egg rolls were magnificent and the size of the shrimp were incredible and delectable. Rice had no vegetables but I'm not complaining it was delicious regardless. It didn't take too long to get considering I was there ordering it and walking out in the span of 15 minutes. It doesn't appear anything was twice fried so I'm not complaining once again it was absolutely phenomenal the whole experience and how quick it was so I'm happy... I will return!!!
Tables and chairs were sticky . Tried the roast pork for the first time and it was not good. Stomach ache. Egg rolls were mid. but My uncle got the chicken and it was good.
China King Buffet
Horrible experience all the way around. For me and my wife it was $38 and some change. Payable as soon as you walk in the door For that amount I would expect food that I could eat. The food was like warm at best and just completely disgusting, I wouldn't feed it to my dog. Wait staff couldn't even do a 1/2 sweet 1/2 unsweet tea, not that we had ordered that but that was on our ticket. I wouldn't just give it zero stars if I could but rather negative stars.
I have been going to this Chinese restaurant for around 9 years. Food and service have always been consistent and relatively good. Today was a different story. First our meal for three meals (2 adults and one 8 year old) was $54!! That's about a $10/$15 increase from previous experiences. The wait staff was walking around getting food with bare hands off the bar and walking around eating. Most importantly the menu was COMPLETELY changed. Majority of the food was Hispanic and American based (tamales, elote, wings, mashed potatoes, fried fish, Hispanic chicken and beef). The Asian-American dishes that were available were terribly flavored and not regular. My main issue with the menu change is the complete lack of notice. Sad to say will not be dinning here again. Which is unfortunate, considering it was one of the best dine in options for Chinese over burke and McDowell county.
Hunan To Go
It's the first time ever buying from here and I ordered a chicken broccoli white rice. The biggest problem with this dish is the brown sauce they used tastes horrible, it seems to taste like a weird nasty beef sauce. On top of that it's like a SOUP! This is not supposed to be a soup or stew.. Horrible flavors, will not be coming back here. The other Chinese restaurant beside them has some awesome chicken broccoli and their sauce taste the way its supposed to!
This is NOT the place to go wow! So disappointed. absolutely. No flavor very greasy and expensive plus they got the order wrong
