Good Chinese food restaurant. The House rice is epic. Really good (little pricey, depending of what you buy) but awesome (worthy). The place was clean and good service.

I mean if the prices matched when I ordered I would have POSSIBLY came back but when asked they said it's priced as is and mind you the menu posted and the grab and go menu is COMPLETELY different than what they charge you. On top of that they CANT ADD TO FRIED RICE! Not even allowed to up charge it. I mean she refused out right. Y'all can have that ✌️✌️... I'm good on going back.

We got the hibachi chicken and I wasn’t too happy with the flavor of the hibachi or the texture of the chicken. I’m new to hickory so been trying to find a good Chinese restaurant. The shrimp sauce don’t have much of a shrimp sauce flavor or the red sauce either.

I stopped in on my way back home from an out of town appointment. I was there for lunch, so it was early in the day. The lady was nice & food was prepared quickly. Only had to wait about 7 minutes after arriving. Next time I'm in the area, I would definitely stop in for lunch or dinner. Enjoy the Ragoons for sure, I did! 🦀+🧀=🥰

Great fresh food expertly cooked, served in a drab dining room on Styrofoam plates with plastic cutlery. Food sat on my grouchy stomach better than any fast food ever would. Chicken and rice soup and veggie chow mein will bring me back again and again. Plenty of parking. High chairs available. Wheelchair access at door and tables. Restrooms not handicapped accessible. Return visit for egg rolls and crab rangoons did not disappoint.

The service was fine. Atmosphere doesn't matter as I was takeout. The food? Okay. It needed turmeric and soy sauce. I would think it would come with that. I added at home and it good.

Great place to stop for a quick meal. Authentic Chinese food. The people are friendly and welcoming. I ordered steak and chicken on a stick. Both were great! This place has been in this location for a very long time. I remember eating here years ago, I think the same people run it now. Wort a stop if you are in the Whitnel area.

January 8. 2025...Traditionally have been a customer of Hong Kong Express for several years. Got food to go today. The hot and sour soup was no longer what it used to be and not as good. The egg rolls were old, dried out and tough. The fried won ton had very little cream cheese and were old as well. The honey chicken was tough and dried out, the rice was a bit dry . Altogether the entire meal, which cost me $23.22 was a complete RIP OFF and I will no longer give Hong Kong Express any of my business. *clm

It's not a fancy place to eat, and lots of folks get their food to go, but the food is made to order and delicious every time. I rate Chinese restaurants by comparing their chicken with cashew nuts dish and by far China II is perfect every time. The carrots and celery have just the right bit of crunch that let's you know everything is made fresh.

3.19.2025 i was flying a kite across the street yesterday & worked up an appetite China 2 in Denver ? YES - I'M IMPRESSED ! IT'S AN EXCELLENT STOP ! I'm in the Denver 16/73 area frequently. China 2 has a GRRRREAT (Guy-Sized) Lunch Special. This is a to go & deli style atmosphere & not an upscale dining experience. BUT the great flavors i found here are definitely upscale & beyond my expectations 2 THUMBS UP & 5 STARS ! (I'll Be Back)

See photos. Ordered takeout for dinner on 12/20 and got to work, took a few bites, and noticed part of a roach floating in the food. Needless to say we threw out the entire $50 worth of takeout because there’s no way we were going to trust it was prepared in a clean environment. Reporting to the health department and anyone else necessary. This place needs to be thoroughly inspected.

$78 dollars in food and didn’t receive it all. She was ok making 4 egg rolls the next day but not reimbursing them.

I've always enjoyed china 1,but today was different.I ordered hibachi steak.The meal had excellent flavor. Flavor doesn't matter tho when you can't eat the steak..It was tough as leather..Out of the whole meal I had two bites of steak that were chewable.I was very disappointed.

There’s Way more food than anyone could possibly eat in one sitting with any order. But it’s not very good. It’s honestly like white people are making this Chinese and Japanese food, but they don’t know how it’s done. I won’t order anything from here again. But I guess the real authentic Chinese/Japanese restaurants has spoiled me from enjoying anything but the best. It’s all this town had to offer! If there’s any Chinese people thinking about opening up a restaurant somewhere, this would be a good town. Real authentic Chinese food would blow a lot of these restaurants out of a business. 🎤👏I said what I said!!👏

We ordered from here on Tuesday evening. The food was excellent and price was reasonable. I will be ordering again soon. I was very pleased.

Hi, there is currently a girl in there with a purple shirt doing the register. She is very sick coughing all over her hands I literally just witnessed a customer returning their food and as they’re showing her what’s wrong with the food she is coughing on the food as she has the box open and shes close fisting her coughs like it’s blocking them, then proceeds to not wash her hands and continues to serve guest their food That is very unsanitary. She sounds terribly sick. And that is a extreme health code violation please fix this issue and have her sent home. Thank you. I’ve called multiple times Please have her put a mask on and wash her hands consistently through her shift. It’s sad I have to write this review, but I was genuinely appalled by how much she was coughing and how her voice sounded sickly.

I asked for chicken fried rice with extra veggie. The lady on the phone clarified, “Do you want the baby corn, mushrooms and broccoli?” I told her no bc I’m allergic to mushrooms and don’t too much care for the corn……..surprise surprise! Hella mushrooms and corn n broccoli. Didn’t find that out til I got home and took a huge bite😩😭😭 CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU LEAVE!

Some of the worst fried rice I’ve ever eaten from a Chinese restaurant. They literally took white rice, then added eggs and soy sauce only. The cashiers acted weird. I will never go back. Egg Foo Young was maybe 3/10. Asked and paid for different sauce to end up with extra of the same gravy.

I don’t even trip on food like that but this was beyond straight. Mid… trash if you will. If you like bland rice, come here. & The Sesame chicken sauce was poo. Don’t come here thinking u gon be leaving wit ya taste buds happy.

This place is great. They're probably the most consistent with these type of dishes/protein dishes that they offer. I make an hour drive just to come here about 1x a month. I haven't anything from here that wasn't fresh and flavorful. There's probably only a couple of places in Charlotte that sells this type of food such as roast pork, steamed chicken, roast duck, and etc. People can complain and etc, but there's just not many options especially when it comes to trying to find steamed chicken. The service here is great though. And the people here are very nice. The only downsides to this place are the prices. I understand that everything has gone up due to inflation but the prices are pretty high, so expect to pay a pretty penny.

The cuts they use for bbq pork and roast pork leaves much to be desired. The roast pork with crispy skin is not pork belly. So the meat is dry and tougher. The bbq pork does seems to be correct (fatty pork shoulder), but not enough char and ample amounts of red food coloring.

Dumplings were a little disappointing. I tried the pork&chive and the sweet pork belly dumplings. Both came slathered in chili oil toppings, leading to a very wet mess. Couldn't really differentiate the fillings with all the oil toppings. The noodles, however, were very good. The dan dan noodles were appropriately spicy/numbing, and the shiitake chicken noodles were silky and salty. I do wish they had at least one option without spice for my kids. The location is great, tons of other options to try at Optimist food hall. Free 90min parking.
