Shanghai Time
Ordered for pick up for lunch with coworkers. My order was ready when I got there but two of my coworkers had to wait a bit. There were a lot of people waiting to pick up their orders and also people dining in. The space is a bit small and seemed like there were a lot of takeout orders. I got the shredded beef with hot peppers udon and garlic cucumber salad. They charged me a $1 for chili oil. The noodles were oily but flavored well. The garlic cucumber salad wasn’t good at all. It tasted bitter and was not flavorful at all. Coworkers seemed to enjoy their foods esp the pan fried pork soup dumplings.
Great service, all the staff were very kind and accommodating. If you decide to come here the soup dumplings are a must try!! I wish we got the pan fried ones as well The best item was definitely the soup dumplings, then the Shanghai stir fried rice cake, and lastly the pork chop. I probably wouldn’t come back but for being in such a touristy location, the soup dumplings really took me by surprise. These are some of the most flavorful soup dumplings I’ve had with a nice wrapper texture, something you don’t always see in other spots.
Chi Restaurant & Bar 棋餐厅&酒吧
Accommodating restaurant for 7 people! I liked the Szechuan food here - the cumin lamb, spicy chicken, the truffle fried rice were all stellar. The soup dumplings were great, the Peking duck was decent but I’ve had better. I liked all the veggies, the eggplant and cucumber salad and all.
Our dining experience in New York was exceptional. Coco, our server, was an absolute delight. She efficiently managed carry-out orders, answered phone inquiries, and handled reservations—all while making us feel incredibly welcome, even with our two children in tow. The bartender showcased true craftsmanship; every drink we had was superb, and his stylish demeanor added to the overall experience. The food and service were outstanding, making our New York visit all the more worthwhile. We deeply appreciate the restaurant’s family-friendly atmosphere, ensuring that dining with children was a pleasant experience.
Chopstick House
For the desperate and closeby, Chopstick House will technically deliver "food" quickly, and cheaply. For those who care about the flavor and/or quality of the food they ingest, keep moving. There's plenty of other cheap Chinese in the neighborhood, and I imagine any other option would be a better one.
We walked from our hotel to the restaurant, We had worked up quite the appetite. The restaurant did not disappoint, they have great service with even better food. Great value considering the location.
Raosu
What an amazing deal - $39.99 for all you can eat hotpot AND sushi …in Manhattan! The value made the food taste even better. I loved everything about my lunch here, delicious food (great options for hot pot, sushi rolls, and sides which come inclusive), super friendly service (went for Sunday late lunch so there were only 3 other tables dining), and gorgeous interior. Definitely the prettiest hot pot restaurant I’ve ever been to! Please be sure to come hungry because it’s a ton of food! And I think it was really tasty (I recommend the mushroom soup base) especially for the price! Also, they have happy hours. I’ll have to come back to try the elevated AYCE option ($79) which has a larger menu of hotpot items and sushi AND beer!
We had a fabulous hotpot sushi dinner here. Staffs are super friendly and always attentive to our needs. The food is so delicious and fresh. Definitely luxury feel for the decors inside. Update: 3rd visit while in New York. Service was slow and waiter has avoided my son’s requests. The salmon sashimi came out not fresh and super small. Don’t order their sushi, barely a super thin slice of fish, with a lot of rices. The quality of food and service is definitely going down the drain. Too sad for the business.
Shui Mei Cafe
Got the Pan Fried Mei Fun W.Pork Egg & Veg. Cash only. Cost $8. Taste good. Limited amount of seating inside. There’s also a bathroom here I think.
Quick service and the pan fried dumplings + fish ball soup was delicious. Hoping to go back to try the peanut noodles!
Lady Chow Kitchen
What a hidden gem in NYC Chinatown! The 豉汁排骨蒸陈村粉 was cooked to perfection, the steamed rice rolls were silky smooth and smooth and the pork ribs on top were savory and delicious. Highly recommended! How much I wish I could find something as good in London.
The portion is very generous, and it tastes great. This food reminds me of the food I had in Guangzhou when I traveled there. One of my favorite restaurants in Chinatown!
Longjiang Pork Feet Rice
Not worth the price. Flavor is good but the bowls are mostly rice. I rather go to many other places in the area for cheaper, better, and more plentiful food.
It is a small eatery with only a few seats. Table and chair are aged. No AC. This place only serves braised dishes: meat and tofu . Those dishes are quite savory and go very well with white rice . The staff is courteous.
Tin Wong Restaurant
🥢 Roast Duck – Hands down, the most impressive roast duck I’ve had in Chinatown. The skin is paper-thin and crispy, almost like a potato chip, without the excess grease. The meat? Juicy and tender—not dry at all. 🍖 Char Siu Ribs – Don’t just stick to char siu pork—try the ribs! Crispy on the outside, tender inside, with a rich, savory glaze. The meat near the bone is irresistibly flavorful. 🍚 Yangzhou Fried Rice – Insane value for the price. It comes piled high with plenty of toppings—char siu, shrimp, egg, ham, and peas. A true feast! 🥩 Peking-Style Pork Ribs – A crowd favorite! Each rib is huge and meaty, served steaming hot with a fruity, tangy-sweet sauce that makes it incredibly satisfying with rice. 🍤 Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll – Smooth, silky rice noodles wrapped around plump, bouncy shrimp. Simple but so comforting. 🍜 Beef Brisket & Wonton Noodle Soup – A classic Hong Kong dish done right! Tender, beefy brisket, plump wontons, delicate thin noodles, and a light, savory broth—pure comfort in a bowl.
Came in to escape the cold and get some food. We left full and happy. Once we sat we were given some hot tea immediately. I ordered the roasted pork crepe and egg drop soup. Not normally what I order but I just needed something light. Others I was with ordered the friend pork chops, the a la carte roasted pork, and pork and won ton noodle soup. All dishes were exceptional. The pork tasted like candy it was so delicious. Highly recommend stopping in for a great meal and great service!
Golden Bowl
Golden Bowl harkens to the Chinatown before gentrification. It’s a very humble, no-frills spot where food is ladled by old ladies, hardly any English is spoken, and there are no tourists. $8.50 (tax included) gets you 4 dishes and rice. There are many choices, including a lot of vegetarian options. Canned soda is $1. Cash only.
A real hidden gem tucked away on a side street. Months ago I walked by Golden Bowl and saw the hot foods in front of the window and told myself I'd come back to try. Yesterday I was in the area and decided it was time. They don't have a menu, just a selection of the owners home cooking from that day. For $7 you get a plate of rice and selection of 4 dishes. All are fantastic. If you're an adventurous eater and support mom and pop shops, this is the spot. And if you've ever been to a Chinese restaurant and saw a dish that you'd be curious to take a bite of, but can't justify paying $17 for a full service - this is the spot to try as much as your heart desires for a couple dollars.
La Salle Dumpling Room
Friedman's West and La Salle Dumpling have merged into one restaurant. The good news is that two people craving different cuisines can now dine together at the same place. However, the downside is that those unaware of La Salle Dumpling's presence inside Friedman's may find it nearly impossible to locate the restaurant. This unique establishment offers two completely distinct cuisines, prepared to perfection. In particular, the xiao long bao and Chinese-style noodles are exceptional. The brunch menu exceeds expectations, and both the coffee and iced tea are outstanding.
As other reviews have noted, this place is inside Friedman's. Stopped by here for lunch today and really enjoyed the pork soup dumplings (fresh, tender, and hot, with a tasty filling). The General Tso chicken was also great, using 2 kinds of peppers (but not over-spiced). Friendly staff and attentive service!
Hwa Yuan Szechuan
Duck is slamming! Def worth it and good size. The rest of the food is very tasty but portions are on the smaller side. Not very shareable for a group larger than 4. So you’ll have to double up on orders if you’re a big party.
We didn’t even touch the food on this table! it was that bad. This place officially tops the list for the worst Peking duck I’ve ever encountered. The duck looked sad, dry, and like it had been cooked three days ago, then reheated in an air fryer as an afterthought. If anyone ever wanted to punish me, making me eat their so-called “house specialty duck” would be the perfect way to do it. The irony? This is what they proudly call their specialty. It tasted like old, leathery jerk duck left out for days. Honestly, you’re better off grabbing duck from Big Wong’s. At least there, it’s not pretending to be something it’s not. I’ve never seen a restaurant with such a nice atmosphere serve such overpriced, reheated, fridge-stale duck. It’s almost tragic.I genuinely feel bad for the duck having to suffer through so many levels of disrespect. Speaking of atmosphere: despite there being open tables elsewhere, walk-in guests like us were herded to a cramped 2ndfloor corner next to the kitchen. I could literally feel kitchen grease wafting through the air and sticking to my hair. To their credit, the servers acknowledged the disaster and canceled the order, which I appreciate. But still no one should be charging premium prices for something like that. Maybe they can get away with it with tourists or folks who’ve never had real Peking duck, but I feel compelled to speak up for them: this isn’t how it’s supposed to taste. The fried oysters were terrible too, tasted like scrap dough. I had high hopes, especially after seeing the glowing Resy and Google reviews.but now I can’t help but wonder how many of those were manipulated. What a letdown, Hwa Yuan.
DAO Dim Sum & Chinese Cuisine
The food was exceptional. Fillings were generous. Very tasty. I would definitely recommend this place. However, it took us an hour to get our meal and I found this quite slow for a dim sum place. We ordered six items and each came one by one with a long wait in between. We had the scallion pancake, shrimp and chives dumpling, crispy roasted duck rolls, vegetable trio, black truffle and mushroom dumpling and the pork and crab meet soup dumpling. Would recommend them all!
After finishing work, one of our friends from Asia recommended Dao Dim Sum, and we gladly agreed to give it a try. From the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed by a spacious and inviting atmosphere. We sat at a comfortable round table by the window that was perfect for our group of five. Rather than choosing from the menu ourselves, we left it up to our friend to surprise us with his selections and it was the best decision! While I’m not great with the names, I absolutely loved the shrimp dumplings, crispy shrimp rolls, abalone shumai, and steamed fish balls. Each dish was bursting with unique flavors and perfectly prepared. The food, the ambiance, and the great company made a fantastic experience. If you’re looking for authentic and flavorful dim sum, Dao Dim Sum is definitely worth a visit!
