Chinatown BarBQ Cart
Always delicious late night snack and great pricing too!
I use this place often.
Mr.Liu Hot Pot
If you want a easy and tasty food go to "Mr. Liu Hot Pot", It's located in the food hall near the Columbus Circle. The plate with chicken was delicious, I was with my bf and we share a chicken plate. WAS SO GOOD! The service was good too, the gentleman asked if it was good, if we need anything else...the lemonade is spectacular! I highly recommend this place.
The beef malatang is amazing! The amount of beef was generous, and this is one of the only truly satisfying malatang broths I’ve had here in NYC. The variety of ingredients (vermicelli noodles, fuzhu/beancurd stick, cabbage, woodear mushroom) had all the ones I love too :) Also service was impeccable✨ I was debating whether to buy from this stall and the owner’s greetings and introduction to the menus won me over. All in all I feel like it was a great meal— definitely worth it’s value!
Joe”s Noodles
The noodle I ordered was amazing. I went there because my fiancé recommended it. I was amazed. The quantity and quality was off the chart. I think u will like it if you are into Chinese and full belly meals.
1st food stall to the left upon entering the food side of Canal Street Market. Kiosk ordering card payment. We enjoyed the chili oil wontons and the wonton soup. I'm looking forward to coming back.
Blue Peak Villa
New restaurant with great people I was walking past on Houston and I got the pan fried pork buns and I went back the next day and had them again
Jens Noodle House
Good Hong Kong style rice rolls. They accept credit card
Got the hot sesame noodles and they were very tasty!
Nai Brother Sauerkraut Fish 奈哥酸菜鱼 (Columbia University)
Tried Nai Brother Sauerkraut recently and was pleasantly surprised! The service was great—friendly and efficient. The sauerkraut itself was tasty and felt light, not overly sour or heavy like some others. Really enjoyed the balance of flavor. Plus, the price was totally reasonable for the quality. Definitely worth a try if you're into fermented foods or just want a healthy side dish!
The Nai Brother Chinese fish here is absolutely amazing! Super affordable and such great value for the quality and portion size. The restaurant has long opening hours, making it perfect for a late-night dinner. The dish is flavorful but not too oily, which is a huge plus. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal at a reasonable price! The bubble tea nearby Nai Brother Fish Heytea is fantastic! The drinks are not only delicious but also beautifully presented. They have a great variety of flavors, and everything tastes super fresh. Perfect for pairing with a meal or just grabbing a refreshing treat. Highly recommend
Bacang/Zongzi vendor
This kind lady is iconic and a Chinatown staple in my eyes! Growing up here, I always look out (or hear her) for her advertising to get the best zong in the neighborhood. She sells different kinds but I like her Taiwanese and Shanghai ones the most (there’s also an English menu that details what’s inside) She’s super sweet and stays out late til about 7-8 in front of grand street station just to sell her zong so make sure to support her business!
This is a must stop for me when I'm in Chinatown. Shes a fixture of this street and a long time vendor. Her zhongzhi is better than what you get in restaurants or grocery stores. It's not exactly ready to eat since it requires you to bring it home to reheat in a steamer for best results. In a pinch you can eat it right away although not recommended.
VFC Kitchen
This is a new Chinese restaurant (that replaced a former longtime neighborhood Chinese spot) and I have to say it did not disappoint. First off, they accept credit cards which the former did not. Delivery time was quick and food was hot. (The chicken wings are large and fried perfectly. I will say I tried the plantains as well and they just didn't do it, sort of dry and seemed like they needed salt or something. We also tried the general tso chicken and fried rice combo - this was better than expected. Rice was tasty and generous amount of chicken. Will be trying again soon.
I tried this place last night. I noticed they are different from the restaurant before. I like that they accept cards which is almost rare for Chinese food take out. They opened recently. I hope they keep the service and quality. Portion is decent. I was able to get something for under $10. I liked the food so far. Will be my go to take out in this area.
Raosu
What an amazing deal - $39.99 for all you can eat hotpot AND sushi …in Manhattan! The value made the food taste even better. I loved everything about my lunch here, delicious food (great options for hot pot, sushi rolls, and sides which come inclusive), super friendly service (went for Sunday late lunch so there were only 3 other tables dining), and gorgeous interior. Definitely the prettiest hot pot restaurant I’ve ever been to! Please be sure to come hungry because it’s a ton of food! And I think it was really tasty (I recommend the mushroom soup base) especially for the price! Also, they have happy hours. I’ll have to come back to try the elevated AYCE option ($79) which has a larger menu of hotpot items and sushi AND beer!
We had a fabulous hotpot sushi dinner here. Staffs are super friendly and always attentive to our needs. The food is so delicious and fresh. Definitely luxury feel for the decors inside. Update: 3rd visit while in New York. Service was slow and waiter has avoided my son’s requests. The salmon sashimi came out not fresh and super small. Don’t order their sushi, barely a super thin slice of fish, with a lot of rices. The quality of food and service is definitely going down the drain. Too sad for the business.
Chopstick House
For the desperate and closeby, Chopstick House will technically deliver "food" quickly, and cheaply. For those who care about the flavor and/or quality of the food they ingest, keep moving. There's plenty of other cheap Chinese in the neighborhood, and I imagine any other option would be a better one.
We walked from our hotel to the restaurant, We had worked up quite the appetite. The restaurant did not disappoint, they have great service with even better food. Great value considering the location.
Chi Restaurant & Bar 棋餐厅&酒吧
Accommodating restaurant for 7 people! I liked the Szechuan food here - the cumin lamb, spicy chicken, the truffle fried rice were all stellar. The soup dumplings were great, the Peking duck was decent but I’ve had better. I liked all the veggies, the eggplant and cucumber salad and all.
Our dining experience in New York was exceptional. Coco, our server, was an absolute delight. She efficiently managed carry-out orders, answered phone inquiries, and handled reservations—all while making us feel incredibly welcome, even with our two children in tow. The bartender showcased true craftsmanship; every drink we had was superb, and his stylish demeanor added to the overall experience. The food and service were outstanding, making our New York visit all the more worthwhile. We deeply appreciate the restaurant’s family-friendly atmosphere, ensuring that dining with children was a pleasant experience.
Bao Bao Cafe
Really affordable for the area with authentic flavor and good portions. Fast service and I liked the hand sanitizer throughout. Although they do seem to recycle, everything is served in plastic. Changing to proper bowls would make a huge difference. Do note that they also incentive reviews by giving free (good) popcorn chicken.
The best vegetarian value in the city! Gluten free noodles too. Love this place for a casual meal south of Times Square in the Fashion District. I ordered N3 (mild) with extra tofu skin. This establishment uses a plastic bowl and utensils, so if you prefer silverware, either bring your own set or place a delivery order.
