Joy Luck Chinese Buffet
I recently visited Joy Luck Chinese Buffet and had a fairly average experience. The food options available were not bad, though I found the selection to be somewhat minimal. If you're looking for a wide variety of dishes, this might not fully meet expectations, but what they did offer was satisfying. The highlight of our visit was definitely the service. Despite the restaurant being fairly busy, we were seated right away, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff was courteous and attentive throughout our meal, which added a positive note to our experience. As for the atmosphere, it was a bit on the bland side. There wasn't much going on in terms of decor or ambiance, so it felt a little understated. If you’re looking for a vibrant or themed environment, you might find it somewhat lacking. Overall, Joy Luck offers decent food and excellent service, but could benefit from enhancing its ambiance and menu variety. A solid choice for a straightforward buffet experience.
Their dishes are hidden gems! Very tasty and authentic Chinese food at a fair price! It’s underrated in the Google Map reviews. I’ve been there several times. This is also a great place for vegetarians. This time, I went with my Indian friend who only eats vegetarian, and he liked the eggplant and tofu dishes a lot.
Happy Wok
I order our food on their website for pickup. The food is always hot and ready when I come for it. The staff here is very nice. The store is very clean and always busy. They have the best Orange Chicken and Crab Rangoon around.
Yes! Finally found a good Chinese restaurant in Jefferson County. The veg fried rice was loaded with large chunks of vegetables. Sesame chicken had a wonderful sauce and the chicken was crispy and delicious. Crab Rangoon was large and loaded. Fried dumplings which I don’t like- I really liked these! I had a feeling it was going to be good because their phone never stopped ringing with new orders being placed. I will be back!
China 1
I had not had this food for at least 6 years, and a lot has changed since this then. I ordered General Tso, crab ragoon, fried rice and Kung pao chicken. The crab ragoon was over cooked, the chicken in General Tso was old and dried out. It was barely edible. There was so much celery in the Kung Pao chicken, it was like munching on a stick of celery. I also asked for it to be as spicy as possible, I have had milk that was more spicy. I spend a lot of money for crap. I will never eat here again and and I highly advise you don't either. The quality is definitely not the same.
The food was fine/decent and plentiful so I figured they deserved a couple stars. My main complaint was that my online order was stolen and I ended up waiting about an hour before a new order was made. I went inside around the time my order was scheduled for pick up, told them my order info, and it seemed as if my order was being worked on. So I sat to wait. In the meantime, I watched at least 8 doordashers get their food. When I was finally the last person, they asked again for my order info and told me it had been taken by someone else. So I had to wait another 15 minutes for a new order to be made. If you have never been in the restaurant before, you walk in the door and immediately there are two or three long tables where the bags of food get set. The cashier and kitchen are at least 15 feet behind the table. There is no checking on if someone got the right order or accountability. So I can totally understand how someone could easily take an order. But hey, they got $75 of free chinese food.
J & I Chinese Kitchen
First visit to J & I Chinese Kitchen. This is a carry-out or delivery restaurant. Appeared clean. No dining area here. The portions were large, and the food was very satisfying and delicious. I definitely will be returning for more.
My husband and I got takeout for ourselves and our three children a week ago. The food was alright. The chicken is fried heavily, and the fried rice does not include vegetables. We also ordered crab rangoon, and three of them did not have any crab - only cream cheese.
Fu Yu Chinese Kitchen
For what it is it’s pretty great. It’s a local family owned restaurant. They are always very nice. The prices are great, and the crab Rangoon are killer. I wouldn’t expect the best plate you have had, that’s tough in Stl. We have a great Chinese food scene here, but this place is a solid go to if you are in the area.
My favorite Chinese place I won't go anywhere else. Just wish they were on doordash or a delivery app since I live far away.
Panda Express
It is hit and miss I go there for chicken teriyaki which is very very good but every other time I go there they don't have any today they told me it was still frozen last week they told me the cook didn't show up to cook it but they had everything else and then the week before that they told me they didn't get a truck and then the week before that they told me they ran out the chicken teriyaki but it's like they don't want to cook it My coworker just told me the same thing today he's been having the same problem so either they're in business to serve their entire menu or they need to just go away. I just went back today August 4th and I asked him why they were out of chicken teriyaki again and the guy told me it just takes too long to make it's too difficult they don't want to make it so I asked for the district manager's phone number they gave me 800 number to complain they just don't want to make it He told me point blank they don't want to make it unbelievable how they get away with this. At least someone was honest and told me the truth this time.
I ordered Panda from Uber Eats and it came from this store. The orange chicken was terrible! It was either mixed wrong or wrong seasoning as it tasted like their fire chicken mixed with a cleaning solution! I order Panda from a nearby location regularly to know this is not right and have also had it from here within the last 6 months and it didn't taste this bad.
Grand Wok Chinese Kitchen
Food is very good but I just spent $50 for an incompetent worker to place fried food dripping in grease into a styrofoam container, which whenever I went to pull out the said box it caused the one it had melted to, opened up spilling everywhere inside the bag. Very disappointed but food is excellent
Ordered carry out. 2 entrees and an appetizer. Took almost 30 minutes. There was only 1 table in the restaurant, so it’s not like they were busy. Food was greasy and didn’t taste very good at all. When I called and told them about my experience. His response was “ok”, then hung up the phone. I would have given this place another shot, if they would have made it right. But I guess that’s not an option. What a let down.
Old St Louis Chop Suey
Drove 35 minutes for some good city rice..this was NOT the place! Ordered for 5 people and not one order was correct. Egg fu young has gravy but not from here...the fried rice was dry, not mixed as most parts were white clumps ....I asked for onions, green onions and bean Sprouts no egg. I got plain rice. St Paul was terrible Will NEVER return
I haven’t been here in years and won’t be back ordered chicken fried rice and to my surprise my box only had about 3 pieces of chicken.I also had an egg shell in my box. To top it off rice taste burnt very disappointed.
St. Louis Kitchen
Fast service, good food. The crab ragoon could have a bit more crab in it, but it was cooked well and tasty. The rice is yellow and I usually like mine darker, but again it was cooked well and tasty. The prices are fair and the customer service was great. They made sure we had all the utensils and sauces we needed. We had a big order and everything was ready in 15 minutes so if you need something quick, this is the place.
Friday dinner take-out combination plate: Szechuan chicken + fried rice + spring roll. The food was hot and mildly spicy. Vegetables and meat were fresh. For $9.99 you cannot go wrong! I will be back next week.
Hunan & Peking Garden
The place was very, very dated and needs a lot of repair. It is very dark and is not the cleanest restaurant I've been to lately. There was a distinct chemical smell in the air as well. We ate a late dinner and were the only ones there besides one other couple. The food and service fine and the prices were good. All in all? Probably will not return.
Inexpensive and casual place for a wide variety of dishes. Standard fare but the dishes we had were solid. Sauces are a bit on the sweet side, like most West County Chinese restaurants.
Lulu Chinese Express
I used to get food here regularly. My favorite Chinese restaurant was to-go from Dierburgs! Well, today different people were working there. I selected my favorite Kung Pau, but actually got a scoop of gloppy brown sauce with a couple of chicken cubes and clumps of onion on a tray of rice. Bleh! What a shame they sold out to make their family business into a 7-11 quality franchise.
I had the veggie lo mein and it tasted good but there were hardly any veggies. There was lots of cabbage but only 4 small pieces of broccoli and maybe three slivers of carrots.
Panda Express
This location is managed by a very rude young lady name Ann that doesn’t respect her loyal customers. Yadira justified bad quality food preparation: noodles, chicken teriyaki black burnt taste, dry rice and soggy beef pepper/or hanged chicken. The fast food quality has been going down the last nine to twelve months. But the prices keeps going up. While portion size also has decreased. Several of the young male staff members cashier lack people skills and prefer texting on their mobile devices like Vickie. It’s sad that a customer that comes in five to ten times a month with family and friends to the St Louis Galleria Mall that travels across town every week missing the good taste has to experience negative attitudes by employees that are irritated by customers asking for napkins when the container is empty and straw wrappers and wet napkins are sitting in front of the register. Now we have to walk through the mall and lobby in bad odor like sewer problems. Just don’t understand how you can have only two people preparing all the food during evening hours but five staffers at 12-2 PM…? Customers also come for dinner before 6/7 PM movies showing and online orders after work between 5:30-6:30 PM. Bad experience has become a pattern and waiting for 15-25 minutes is pathetic too. While cook rushing and burning the chicken and skipping steps on the dry noodles and mushy flavorless rice. This isn’t hard but qualify goes down when customers and employees are set up to fail. Poor management too. Starts at the TOP…
Ordered on 4/19/25 around 12:30pm. I asked what was included in the plate price, and the young lady behind the counter pointed out the options. At no point did she mention that shrimp would cost extra, but she charged me anyway without me knowledge. To make it worse, the shrimp portion was embarrassingly small. Dishonest service and skimpy portions? No thanks. I won’t be coming back.
