New Fresh Wok
Note to readers: Please read the entire review I’ve provided as there is both good and bad elements and in fairness to the business I want to provide a complete overview. Thanks! First the not so good stuff: Food is standard / unspecial and my meal seemed very heavy and dense. The offerings are mostly what you might expect from a standard Asian-fusion menu. One nice feature of the menu is that in addition to Chinese cuisine, New Fresh Wok also offers a sushi bar. Personally, I was not impressed with the food and the three other people I dined with, all of which ordered different items, generally felt the same way but as a vegetarian I was particularly underwhelmed. If you do find something on their menu that you like, then you are in luck because the portions are absolutely enormous!! I mean huge, like massive. So expect to go home with to-go containers as well. The other unfortunate report is that the bathrooms are very unclean - it was sort of nightmare getting my toddler to use the facilities giving that every surface was basically a petri dish. They could definitely do much better in the house keeping department without question. Now for the good and even great stuff: This restaurant features a very unique serving staff! You order your food up at the front of the house but then……wait for it…..soon arrives a robotic kitty waitress who brings each table their food, equipped with under-glow, LED whiskers and a little musical tune announcing its arrival and departure. This was A BIG HIT with all the kiddos at the restaurant, including mine, and it was fun to experience this novelty in action. Hard not to smile. Additionally, the restaurant features another playful automation system - cotton candy machine! For $5 you can choose from a wide variety of shapes and colors (flowers/hearts/domes etc) and the machine spins up a sugary confection and everyone who did this while I was at the restaurant left with a big smile. The kids generally loved the cotton candy machine as much, if not more, than the two kitty robots zooming around the modest-sized dining room. I hope this review helps folks make some informed decisions in your eating-out adventures in the Twin Cities!
New Fresh Wok – 3-Star Review I recently visited New Fresh Wok in St. Paul, MN, and had a mixed experience. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and a Philadelphia roll, but unfortunately, the Philadelphia roll didn’t taste as fresh as I expected. The restaurant has a unique concept with a robot server, which I actually found to be efficient and fun. However, the customer service at the register was a letdown. The receptionist was rude, making the ordering experience unpleasant. If they’re going to require customers to order at the register, they should at least ensure that the human interaction is welcoming. Otherwise, why not just let the robot handle everything? Overall, the idea of robotic service is cool, but the food quality and human service need improvement. I’d rather go somewhere else for fresher sushi and better customer service.
China Express I
Standard Chinese-American food. Sushi. Food is freshly prepared when you order and served hot. It's okay ... Nothing special. Good deal on Lunch Specials and Family Combination Meals. Many options to try. $10.99 Lunch Buffet Tuesday-Friday 11 am to 2 pm. Includes one can of soda. Buffet is not a big selection. Did not look appealing. Server turned off heat lamp over the food when people were not around. Was not interested in trying it. Fried rice is delicious. Egg rolls are disappointing. Good size, crispy wrapper. The inside has too much cabbage and is sour. Chunks of bright pink mystery meat inside.
Sorry, but food was Very Bland. Egg rolls not very good. Chow mein, veges were not cooked. Rice was chewy. Won't be returning. The people were nice, not very talkative. But was very disappointed in my spending of $40!!
House of Wong
Always get your money's worth here. American or Chinese. Such varieties there is something for everyone. The sesame chicken with fried rice gives me a second dinner the next day. Comes with a piece of pie. French silk is highly recommended.
Finally got to go to House of Wong today. There's a reason why they've been open for over 50 years! Their food is wonderful. Service was a tad slow for our liking but our server might have worked here since the beginning of the House of Wong inception. We were not in a hurry so not a big deal. The sweet and sour chicken was as advertised, impressive! The fried rice was above average and the egg rolls were on point. Turns out with an entree, you get a piece of pie and they had many to choose from. Wow to the banana cream. Sad it took me so long to visit and look forward to another visit. Thanks for a lovely Sunday dinner with friends.

Staff doesn't fully assemble delivery orders. Grab a pack of cookies on your way out he says. I think you should have put it in the delivery bag if the customer ordered it. I don't work for you. Buffet of food looks drenched in teriyaki sauce anyway and wasn't clean.
Our favorite place to dine in Shoreview. The food is always fresh and delicious, the restaurant clean and welcoming but the staff is what makes this location the best! Wonderful service!!
South China Island Inn 2
I order my chow mein on Uber eats expected to be fry like other store but instead they sent me a fried noodle and I have to put it in a sauce and it taste so bad they put all the dishes in this weird sauce which taste all the same and no flavor !!! I wasted my money
This food was delicious! We ordered chicken egg foo yong, chicken with cabbage, lemon chicken and chicken lo mein. The flavor of the food was amazing. The chicken with cabbage had nice heat to it. Not too spicy - just enough. The lemon chicken is the best I've had. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Panda Garden Buffet
We got some buffet with good curry rice 🌾 but good serves delicious Chinese food 🥘 so they offers different meals from Chinese and Hmong and Thai cuisine. Spring roll - good French Chip with curry 🍛. We cannot eat dessert with different color jelly. No ice cream here unfortunately
Keep in mind; this is still just your average American Chinese restaurant for the most part and I’m reviewing it with that in mind. It’s most likely not going to blow you away by any means, but keeping that in mind and how it’s more so a guilty pleasure kinda food, it’s not so bad. Prices are fair, when me and my friends stopped by for what we expected was cheap lunch, it was about what we expected. 14.25$ for all you can eat buffet, fairly cheap. It’s not the biggest buffet ever, so selections are a little bit more limited. But you still get mostly what you need and the food is pretty good. I was surprised to see calamari honestly, those were quite good. They also had good string beans. All in all a good pleasant experience. They also have self serve ice cream and some cakes in the back against the wall so that was a good treat. All in all, solid buffet and would come again in a blue moon for a quick grub.
New Asia
I’ve been coming here for literally 5+ years and the food before the new management was phenomenal but in 2025 the food has gone down. I order food tonight egg foo yong chicken two egg rolls, egg rolls when I bid into it raw raw ! I called the manager at the store he hung up on me in my face because I told him my circumstances about the food that wasn’t properly made now if I would’ve ate the food and I got a food poison that would’ve been on them, but I didn’t get even a chance to even say a proper message to him about the food or even get replaced about the food, I’m very disappointed in Asia and I really hope that the management gets terminated the business gets terminated, and the health department comes evaluates the place because for the last five years, it has been gone downhill and the food has been not good. Just take a look at the rates.
The only decent thing were the egg rolls. My orange chicken had no flavor and was tough but mushy on the outside. The fried rice was bland and cold. The lo mein was sooooo disgusting, no amount of sow sauce could save it. Threw it all away😡

Asked for beef and broccoli. Let me repeat that one more time for the people in the back, BEEF AND BROCCOLI. Instead I got carrots and carrots, they’re not even good carrots. I wasn’t even gonna say nothing and was just gonna try and eat my food but with each bite I just got more and more flabbergasted by how many carrots kept showing up. You’re cooked Leann Chin, do better.
Terrible customer service. It was about 5 p.m. on a Tuesday.i walked in, and there was one customer ahead. Two employees, a young lady (asian), had no name tag standing and did nothing. Later, I found her name was something like a young man who took my order. I was confused as he looked puzzled by the order: 2 Lemon chicken with fried rice with no vegetables( I have a child with allergies) plus one side order of rice. Difficult? NO I have ordered this same order for years. The rude Asian girl got involved even though she didn't hear me ordering. God only knows what she told the cook, but they messed the order. She was snarky, entitled, and told me I was rude, making faces at me. Then she told me everyone thought I was rude because I made sure they understood the order. She went running to the back and called the Mexican girl that normally works in the evenings, who is nice as long as you tip her $5 up. Then she asked me, "Where is my tip?" I didn't have cash then she said yesthis is to much and its rude of you to asked for a special rice. Shame on these employees how rude, talking about your customer I was standing there listening to both of you talking about me and your tip The order was WRONG
Panda Express
Do NOT do online orders from this location! It’s like you guys get rid of all the old crap in the case that’s about to go in the trash on online orders. The amount of beef in the beef and Broccoli compared to broccoli is laughable I can’t believe Somebody actually put that on a plate you can also tell there was part of an old batch in there too because I had some soggy broccoli and some rock hard broccoli. Same with the honey sesame chicken and the Beijing beef (didn’t even bother filling the container either) old, cold, not much meat. And it’s just so sloppy just throw in the box. I KNOW if I had come in I would have left satisfied and received great food. But because it’s an online order I get what should have hit the trash can. Waste of money for sure
I have went to this location multiple times and usually get good quality food but not today. For lunch I stopped by for a 2 plate combo that included chow mein, Beijing beef and the new blazing bourbon chicken. Unfortunately the peppers in the bourbon chicken was burnt to a crisp giving thee entire entrée a bad taste. I understand this location is always busy but serving burnt food to paying rewards customers is unacceptable.
China One
We came to order some take out. It wasn't busy so we got in and had our order taken right away. The fried rice was good, chow fun was okay but not too bland. The chicken wings was bland, not much flavor. They are pretty affordable, and convenient.
I don’t usually write reviews but this one, I can’t refuse! I got an order of pork lo mein and it is one of the best lo mein I have ever had. The pork can be better but even without the pork, the noodles wind my heart!! The soft and chewy texture which I crave is perfect! It’s not too oily and not dry, just perfect moisture to it. The veggies taste so fresh and does not taste like chemicals like those in fast food chains. They are just generous with the pork and veggies. I love it!!
Pagoda Restaurant
What!?! No chop sticks, no napkins….Egg roll looked good, but inside not so good. Couldn’t tell you what what inside, but it was soft and undistinguished, so I couldn’t tell you what veggies it had and/or if it even had meat price is $8.95 for two rolls, wouldn’t recommend the egg rolls. $12.95 shrimp fried rice, had a shrimp in every 4th bite, so I think it was lite on shrimp compared to my (far away from work) favorites , literally had to spit out a shrimp, because it tasted funky spoiled. Also ordered sesame chicken +another $21.95 and disappointed in the more breading than chicken than breading and a weird sauce. Sauce had a twang and breading was thick, soft, and soggy and don’t remember seeing any sesame seeds, so maybe she got my order wrong.. I bought this much so I would have som left overs that I could have over the weekend. EPIC FAIL AND LESSON LEARNED, to not buy for leftovers till I know the place is worthy😞 I was super hungry and usually that fact gets an extra star because it is so satisfying to be full. I won’t recommend or go back to Pagoda. Had tables barricaded at the door for take out. No table restaurant dining. No chair to sit and wait for your order (I stand all day at work). Probably not gonna let you use a bathroom if needed….and location is in a beat down old strip mall location. 😬👎 $36 lunch, best serving was to remind me “anything is possible with faith” in my fortune cookie (except a decent Chinese lunch close to work).
This is my new chinese spot. It's definitely worth the money for. The beef brisket is literally to die for. It is so tender and basically melts in your mouth. The beef congee is so simple but delicious. The salt & pepper pig feet delicious, as well as the pepper getting a nice kick. The soft shell crab was amazing, it's was amazing they some how had it during the outside the season. This is possibly my opinion thr best chinese restaurant in the state of Minnesota.

Something changed and not for the better! The Cream Cheese Wontons were all Wonton with about one or two pea size amount of cream cheese. They were more like wonton chips. What shocked me even more was the fried rice... Did they change the recipe?! The fried rice I received in the bowl of beef and broccoli was dark and saturated in some kind of sauce and had mushrooms and bean sprouts in it. ????
Highland Park has turned into a extremely uppity place where codes on restrooms, including at this Leeann Chin. Just makes it feel less friendly. I waa bot impressed by this location or the food, which is usually good. Corporate has gotten stingy!
