JJ Garden
The Massaman curry was absolutely fantastic. Wonderfully spicy, perfect flavor, lots of chicken and veggies both! And the best part... Tons of curry to soak into the rice. I do wish it had more potatoes, though.
Most of the food is always good.... sometimes the chicken is dry... but chicken can be hard to get right. They have some pretty young kids working there who are on their phones a lot. Despite these few things I am definitely a repeat customer.
China House
A family run business . It was steady busy with people coming in to place orders or pick up existing orders , phone orders rolling in as well. I didn’t call my order in advance (now have one of their to go menu so I can next time)Service was fast and efficient. I ordered the orange chicken and it came with the fried rice and an egg roll. It only took about 10 minutes and it was ready. Food was piping hot and fresh and tasted great!! I thought prices were reasonable . There were a couple of tables for dining but I’m assuming most of their business is take out.
This is a 5 star take out location. It’s not set up for dine in. There were 3 tables when I went and I did eat there. Very friendly at the counter, but down to business as that were hopping! I don’t know if Monday night is there busiest night? We went at about 5:30 (pm). Tastes vary, but for me, the General Tso’s Chicken was the best I’ve ever had. The pea pods in the Beef with Snow Peas were crisp, thin and sweet. Easy to chew, as in they were NOT left to hang on the vine until they were tuff. I’ll be back again for sure to try more items.
Egg Roll King
Well I went out on a drive. A long needed dinner with my son. I was hoping for the awesome food that egg roll king had 20 years ago. Wow this place has changed. Now it doesn't look so good on the outside. Which is fine. But it seems like they never clean the handles for the doors. Anyway the entree was good but the fried rice was horrible unfit for my son or I to eat. That says something. Then I ordered a house special noodles. Looks good but smells like burned tobacco. They seem to taste a little okay not good tho. So if you're looking for a good place to eat I would highly suggest elsewhere.
I eat this when ever I can. Most of the time I just do an appetizer lunch. I love the chicken skewers. It was always my favorite part of the buffet experience. Theirs are giant. I can only eat 2 and I'm pretty full. I have had the sesame and general tzao chicken. I haven't had anything I don't like. Sorry no pictures. The food doesn't last long enough for me
Panda Express
Always got the good stuff up and fresh, and if I come in right at open they ask if there’s anything not ready they can prioritize for me. Every single time Braham (receipt says Abraham but I swear his name tag was Braham!) is there he goes above and beyond to make it exceptional! Please let him know he’s super appreciated and needs a raise!
Ordered a bigger plate with orange chicken and teriyaki chicken just to realized that all the chicken was raw ! Besides the bigger plate I ordered a 12 piece of the cream cheese ragoons and ordered extra sauce to go with it , asked before leaving if it was on the bag just to recived a yes just to find out that there was no sauce and that just ruined my entire night. Came back next day and a short middle age asian lady recived me and was soo rude. I didn't even cared about the food poisoning I just wanted some sweet and sour sauce for my ragoons and she denied and yelled at me. I don't even believed that she understood me at all . I understand that english may have not been her first language but please if someone works on the front of the house let them understand their costumers.... horrible experience overall.
East China
Ordered food through Uber eats so I can’t comment on service but the food was not good. Boneless spare ribs lacked any flavor except for extreme amounts of salt. Fried rice had a weird taste, not sure what but it was not good. How can a Chinese place mess up fried rice?!? Lo mein was super super super greasy!!! Inedible. Spending $50 on take out that you cannot eat is such a waste.
This is the only Chinese restaurant I go to anymore. When the food is always hot, fresh, and delicious tasting at a very affordable price....why would I go anywhere else. The husband and wife that own this place are very friendly. I eat here about once a week. I almost always get Chicken chow mein which is beyond reasonable price. $12 of chow mein will feed two people. Chicken curry is real good too. 👍
Peking Garden
The best Chinese food in the Twin cities imo. Love the atmosphere, very family oriented and there’s parking in the back. Always delicious and a good time with family here. I only got the aftermath photo. This was the 6 entree option, 5 spice beef brisket hot pot, sesame chicken, calamari, and some wine! There were 8 people and there was more than enough leftover! Don’t forget to ask for dessert!
Very welcoming. Wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is amazing. Hot, quick and delicious!! Will be making this stop when in the area for sure.
Sui Yep Cafe
2023 updated review: the inside is still not open for seating but calling ahead is usually super fast. Tonight we had cream cheese puffs, shrimp fried rice, general Tso's chicken, and walnut shrimp. Consistency is seriously the best, I can always count on a good meal! Original review: My go-to neighborhood chinese food spot! I will often get delivery because they tend to get quite busy and I don't really like to wait for pick up as the time estimates can be delayed. My top favorites are the Walnut shrimp, cream cheese wontons, and house fried rice. Other things are great too!
The food was great. I was just in the mood for Chicken Lo mein after work and this hit the spot. The service was great too. The server made sure that I was comfortable and was more then polite.
Golden Chow Mein Restaurant
Food is always good. But this time the regular chow mein was very salty. Bought it for my sister who got out of the hospital. Her bo was a bit high so she couldn't eat it. Time before we purchased the regular chow mein it had no salty taste. Totally disappointed this time. We purchased this on April 24th a Thursday. Don't know if they have different cooks certain days.
I stopped going here last yr because on 2 separate occasions I asked for chicken and for it to be fried hard. Both times the chicken wasn’t done. The second time I went back and got my money back. Well my kids wanted Chinese food tonight so I went against many better judgment called in my order and asked for 2 orders of chicken which are suppose to be $8 each with 6 pieces. I asked for it to be fried extra hard and I also ordered a large chicken fried rice and a small shrimp rice. I was told my order was $35 over the phone after I was asked if I was paying with cash or card. I get there my order is $42. I asked her what happened to the price I was told over the phone. She said something about cookies and I told her I never said anything about no cookies. She said I’ll give them for free but I was still charged the same price. I get home and was instantly pissed. The chicken wasn’t done AGAIN and it was only 4 pieces in each order along with fries I NEVER ORDERD‼️ I’m so upset. I just had to put the chicken in the air fryer cause I don’t wanna drive back out there. And I know if I were to call that she would get an attitude cause that’s what happened last time I called. I just had to tell me kids we will never be going there again no matter how much they ask. We will go somewhere else. This is upsetting and unacceptable.
Wong's Kitchen
Bit disappointed. Grew up loving their food but no longer the same after few yrs returning. Lomein was mediocre w/diff larger noodles than before. Diff veggie types now too, not a fan of new recipe. Fried rice bit underflavored but good amount of meat cept lots of white unflavored rice pieces. Hot n Sour soup not sour at all. Chicken broccoli bland. Cresm cheese wonton & eggrolls typical. May be few more yrs till return or not at all. However, prices very reasonable compared to $15+ dishes at other local chinese takeouts.
Wong's Kitchen is a hidden gem in St. Paul. Nothing compares to the service and food. Egg rolls are massive with flavor and orange chicken is never dried out and has a good amount of sauce unlike other spots we've tried in St. Paul. Even though we've moved out of state when we come back to Minnesota we grab Wong's Kitchen and the owner still remembers us. Hard to beat that type of customer service.
Lee's Express
Super quick service. Everything looked amazing. What people are saying about the orange chicken is true. It is very, very crispy. If you don't like it with crisp fried batter, you may not enjoy it, but it is still good. Orange sauce is perfectly sweet and tangy. Fried rice, cream cheese wonton, spring roll were all good as well. I would try a different chicken dish next time.
A good place to stop for a quick lunch after the children's museum.
Cheung’s Garden Restaurant
Charged us twice. Argued with us and wouldn't refund. Horrible customer service and they were rude. Asked for chow mein noodles and was told they don't have them, even though they have chicken chow mein on the menu. The pork fried rice was pathetic. It was basically browned rice with tiny chunks of pork. No carrots, peas, onions or egg. The cream cheese and meat wontons didnt even come with sweet and sour sauce. Do not recommend!!
Sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and lo mein - all a miss for us. Even the fortune cookie was stale. Very disappointing.
Mandarin Garden Restaurant
Ordered sesame chicken and the house special appetizer platter. Only got a extra small thing of rice with the sesame chicken, not even close to enough rice. The appetizers aren't even edible, every one of them was over cooked! Not ordering from here again! What a waste.
Went to Northfield for the day and was hungary, recently had Mexican and burgers and pizza. So when we spotted this place and walk in my friend knew he wanted some sweet and sour chicken and rice. The dinning room was clean and simply but elegantly decorated. The waitress was very helpfull, I explained I have difficulty chewing and she made recommendations. She was professional and enjoyable to talk to, we received our food fresh, hot and promptly. I got the Mandarin fried Noodles, my friend the Sweet and sour chicken. We were both pleased, I had some left over, and brought home to wife who also really enjoyed it.definatly would go back.
