Tao Tao
I came cross while getting lost on Minnesota and 13th street. Chuckle The warm and welcoming ambiance of this casual restaurant Tao Tao instantly put me on ease that it will be fantastic place to have casual dinner. The food was great and customer service was excellent.
Absolutely wonderful local Chinese place. I grew up in Springfield and I've never found anywhere that could do cashew chicken like the restaurants did where I grew up, but Tao Tao will now be my home away from home. Chef Annie and her friends and family make you feel so loved and welcome as soon as you walk in, and then they make you a hearty serving of some delicious food. I came for the Springfield style cashew chicken, but now I've gotta come back to try everything else! Highly recommend!
Bo Lings
We had not been to Bolings in a few years. The atmosphere & decor was nice. The service needs work. We had to ask twice for plates for our appetizers. Waiting again for an additional tea cup. The chicken for the lettuce wraps was extremely salty. The bill was $80 for two people at lunch. Probably won’t return unless something changes.
Let me preface by saying I am Chinese and grew up eating really great Chinese food in California. So I really really wanted Bo lings to be good and I had high hopes 🤞 because I’ve had their dim sum before and it was pretty good. So we came to try their normal dinner and it was a little disappointing to me because there was definitely an American flare to it. The shu mai didn’t taste authentic. The honey walnut shrimp and chicken wasn’t the best either. Chicken was dry. Flavor was good though. The beef chow fun was great, I do like that one. And all the dumplings were decent as well 🥟. I think just the overall taste was not as authentic as I hoped for. But if you are an American and can’t tell the difference, I think this place would be great! 👍 The food did take a bit to come out also but that’s ok!
Moon wok
Love this place. Definitely a hidden gem in Lenexa. It’s a little hole in the wall but the food is fantastic. Their fried rice is one of my favorite things to get. Lunch special combination fried rice is only $10 and comes with egg roll and crab Rangoon. For the price, you can’t beat it.
The food was so yummy so hot and so fresh. The food quality was so good. Everything was so yummy. The only reason I’m taking a star off because every time I come in, it seems like the workers are standoffish and kind of condescending. I have not received this above and beyond service that everyone talks about. But it has such a nice and homey feel to it. It’s definitely a lovely family owned restaurant with great food.
Dragon Empire Chinese Buffet
We ordered two “surprise bags” from TooGoodToGo and were shocked at how much food was included! There was a little bit of everything. This is such a great way to prevent food waste at the end of the business day!
Its not Asian owned restaurants but i dont really care as long as food is good enough for what we pay. Food was fresh and they make their dumplings in house! Everything tastes good as always. As for the cook, i can bet they trained well enough by their previous owners. Please check the bathroom often and kept clean, no complaints thoo!
Sang Sang Asian Express
This is a good option if you’re in the area. The fried chicken was tasty, though the cashew chicken could have been better. Still, it’s worth a try.
100% would recommend. Very quick service inside and through the drive through. Haven’t had a bad thing on the menu. Portion sizes are great. I can usually make 2 meals out of anything I order and even sometimes 3. Although I have no issues with quality here, I would say it is more of a quantity over quality scenario. But really you get the best of both worlds. If you are in the area and are feeling Asian, this is a great place to go. Also great for if you are in a rush and need some quality food quickly. **Disclaimer: I added the sriracha before the photos were taken. Does not come with sriracha when ordered.
ABC Cafe 釗記餐廳
Always amazing! I love the ABC chicken and egg drop soup! Place is pretty small but definitely worth the wait if there is a crowd. We always go on Christmas day, and yes, it's packed, but that's how you know it's good! Have also gone just during a regular weekday and usually not too much of a wait then. Staff is efficient and succinct. Don't forget to try their hot green tea!
Fantastic food!! Beer could still be a little colder. It was at 50 degrees and was lowered to 38 degrees…… Perfect! Although, I watched the temperature start to creep back up, was at 40.9 degrees when I left. Keep it cold!! Tastes better and you will sell more! Thank You for the great food every single time!! Your attention to all of your customs outstanding.
Rice N Noodles
I had the wonton soup and Singapore noodles, Soup was good, and the noodles were very very salty, all of a sudden my tongue started to burn and my stomach was turning, I had explosiveness out of both ends in the restroom 30 min after not finishing my meal. extreme headache, I work in a doctor office and they said I had food poisoning. It was so horrible, the stabbing muscle pains all over my body and chills with a temp. I will never return. Food must've sat out or been old with bacterial growth. Its a NO for me
I love the Honey Shrimp and Crab Rangoon. The lady behind the counter is always so kind and helpful. I don't live in the KC area, but when I do go, I try to make in for my favorites. Somehow, she seems to remember me. Great customer service!
China Star
Was excited to try this place because of the positive reviews I’d seen. I order sesame chicken with pork fried rice and an egg roll. This is my go-to order that I tend to get at most Chinese places. The fried rice had a really odd flavor was not even edible for me. The chicken was fine but not as good as some of the other local restaurants. Ended up tossing half the meal.
THE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN KC. By far the best American-Chinese food place I have been to in Kansas City area. It's truly mom-and-pop. I've been here 100+ times over 12 years and it's consistent, affordable, delicious, friendly mama up front, papa is good cook in back. Quality, well-prepared ingredients. Best dish for me is simply the pork fried rice. Their eggrolls are amazing also!
New China Town
I ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice, food was So Bland that I had to add extra soy sauce & salt & their shrimps are Tiny Sized. Their customer service sucks but crack, will never return to this place! Give it 2 thumbs down 👎🏾👎🏾
The best Asian food. Always fresh , hot, and delicious. We love this place.
Fortune Wok
As a Springfield native I can attest to the Springfield cashew chicken being authentic. Way too many local Chinese restaurants claim Spfd style but have wrong batter in chicken and wrong sauce. Fortune Wok does it well. The sauce does have a more delicate flavor than some of my favorites in Springfield but it is hands down a winner. AND better yet, the egg rolls were flavorful and crispy, which is one of the items I judge a Chinese restaurant on. Get the egg drop soup, also very delicious! Price is a little steep but the portion is large enough to share. I will be back most definitely.
The best gluten free sweet and sour chicken I have hade in over 10 years. They also do crab Rangoon which I have not had since going gluten free 12 years ago. Today I tried Mongolian Beef, hands down better than PF Chang’s. Back again… we had amazing chicken corn soup think of a chicken corn soup meets egg drop soup.. Amazing. We had the gluten free spring rolls. Along with the hunny shrimp. Both were great.
Chinese Palace Restaurant
We enjoy a Christmas night meal here and it was delicious. Their egg drop soup was yummy. Our main dishes were equally flavorful. It was extremely busy but the staff did a nice job taking care of everyone. We plan on making this an annual event for our Christmas tradition.
Nice lunch menu. $7.25 for general tso chicken, fried rice, 2 crab rangoon, and egg drop soup. Knocked it down a star due to wait staff being abrupt with the order then taking awhile to get us the check. No chit chatting here!
Bo Lings
My husband and I used to eat here years ago and we loved it but boy has the quality of the food gone down hill since we moved away ten years ago. The wontons in the wonton soup were very undercooked and gummy and were pretty much inedible. The lettuce wraps had absolutely no flavor and I had to practically drown it soy sauce just so I could force it down.
When I called on Mother's Day, they said it would be a 45 mi but when we arrived 5 mins later, it was a 20 min wait. I assume they said that to discourage people from comming. Apparently there are 2 kinds of menus, the dim sum menu is what we were given, which only has pucs and the name of the dish, no ingredients or descriptors. No other option until we asked. And at that rate, the menu was slightly unclear, but not un-navagable. The waitress just seemed very annoyed, and just kept repeating "dim sum" when I asked what that is 3 or 4 times. Food was good tho
