This is by far one of the BEST Chinese Restaurants! The ingredients are fresh, the portions are good, and the price is good. The staff is extremely friendly. I live local but travel the country each week. I been to Chinese Restaurants all over the US. This place is special and the staff puts their all into it. I have never had a bad meal or bad experience here. This place is clean and neat too. I highly recommend this spot and supporting local.

I so wanted to enjoy my meal here. So disappointing. So to start off, as I'm waiting, one of the cooks comes out of the bathroom as the toilet is flushing. Come on man, you gotta wash your hands. He didn't even mime a wet hand motion. I should have left then and there, but oh well. The lunch special Sesame Chicken and side of lo mein were terrible. I get it, it's American Chinese food but this was a terrible representation of even that. Hard and flavorless rice, bland and cold chicken, the lo mein noodles tasted vaguely of soy sauce...and that's it. For this I was charged almost $20. I can only assume the other raving reviews are from people who have never eaten Chinese food elsewhere. But it was so disappointing and I will definitely never go back. ***I cannot emphasize just how bad this Lo Mein was. It made me stop my meal and immediately write a review, something I don't do***

First be aware the building is old. Clean inside but old. The decor and the lighting is definitely something from long ago. When I first stepped in I almost ran but a very nice lady showed up and I stepped forward. Not surprisingly a slight language barrier in her understanding my questions. I guess I should have talked louder and asked more questions. It was lunch so I thought we’d get lunch servings and prices but having not specified she gave us dinner prices. $36 for two. That’s a lot for what one gets. I ordered beef pepper steak and it tasted ok. The sauce tasted like my gravy when I make beef and gravy. None of the spices I’d expect. Meat was tender and vegetables fresh and crisp. Egg roll smelt as if it had been fried in old oil. Didn’t see much in the way of veggies. Seemed like meat and rice with phyllo dough. Thin layers of dough fried very crisp. My husband had teriyaki chicken no veggies. Good serving. He liked it. He also had wonton soup that he said wasn’t bad. The fried rice was awful. Dried out almost to point of hard. Stale bland flavor. Nothing helped it. Packets of sauce and soy in a bottle that was crusty on top. No soda refills. Fought two persistent flies. I’ve driven by this place for years and hoped I’d find a new favorite for Mondays but it’s not to be. Exceptionally kind lady and sorry to say it’s a one and done

Excellent food never fails to make my day better, the fried rice is the best I've had in years; everything is always hot and fresh, a perfect treat! EDIT: 7/29/2024 Chop Chae (sweet potato starch noodles) with carrots, beef, onion, green onion, so comforting and well made

This is a bad review because you used to be able to eat in the resurant, they delivered. Now no delivery an not a place to eat in ,I call B.S. They took over a great restaurant an now look what we have, can't even deliver but the menu shows they do. Sad that we lost a great place an now have this in place. The pandemic is over bring back the restaurant, an delivery!!!!

The food is excellent here. We weren't happy with the Chinese food in the Edwardsville, Glen Carbon and Maryville area. This is now the only place we go to for Chinese. Their pork fried rice is dark, flavorful and you can actually taste the pork. Everyone else in my family is happy with this place. This place is always busy when we go there. They cut the restaurant in half during the pandemic so there are only a few table for seating.

Best Chinese food around and they're so fast it's crazy. Most places tell you 45 minutes or so to finish orders up but they're able to do it in 20 and it's always been super good. Their rice is killer.

The food is delicious and the serving size more than ample. Friendly and fast service. Always a delight to order food from there!

This is above all my favorite Chinese restaurant which I have ordered from many many years. Their food is always made perfectly, accommodating to requests and they deliver to a wide range of areas and still manage to deliver fast. The food has always been consistently great!

Really amazing food and really great prices. We will be back for sure! Thank you!! The garlic chicken was so yummy and my daughter loved her sesame chicken and low mein. Hot and sour soup was also delicious!

This place is so cute!!! I loved my food and the way they served me the hot tea was so yummy and I loved it lol!!!! The place is quite small but it makes up for it with all the Chinese decorations. I love the fish and the water fountain you see when you first come in aswell!!!

$40 for two people to eat lunch at a Chinese takeout style resturant is insane. The food had zero flavor. No seasonings. I feel like I was robbed eating here and won't be back. Also, the sweet tea tasted like chemicals I could only take one sip.

My first time coming here and I will be back!! Called a hour before closing food tasted really fresh. I tried the Chicken St. Paul and WOW!!! That’s a beautiful sandwich really, it was so good. I loved the pork egg rolls as well as the Crab Rangoon. The rice is good without adding soy sauce or sweet and sour which I love. Great place to give a try.

The food was okay. Everything lacked flavor and was over cooked. We had chicken fried rice, general tzo’s, wong tong’s, chow main.

I usually don't bust out a review for any place I've only been to one time. But I've only been here one time. And I will be going back many more times. The Saint Paul sandwich was perfect. The egg rolls are some of the best I've had. If you're worried about the old run down building not being up to your standards then get over yourself. There is great food here. And the person who took my order made it a great experience. I can't wait to try some other food from Chong's. Call ahead if you are picking up. There is no dining room here

We kind of randomly were in this area and this restaurant came up on Google. It gives off a genuine local vibe. (I love supporting places that aren't chains!) The food was ready in a bout 15 minutes. Since they only do take out we went to Haskell Park to eat (great park by the way!) Food is good (it's heavy on the sauce, FYI) but it's SUPER hot. Be careful not to burn your mouth! We got the beef with noodles (kind of a soup, tasty), the beef broccoli (fairly saucy, comes with fried rice), and the cashew chicken (extremely saucy, comes with fried rice.) The portions are hearty (we ordered larges, which is two meals worth.) Overall, a fun experience.

This was my second visit to China Wok. It is a family owned and operated business and it was nice seeing Kelly again. The snow storm had complicated the operation of the restaurant that day so our phone in order was delayed from its estimated time. I think Kelly was more upset about this than we were. While waiting I noticed a lot of repeat customers. The food was great and we will be back.

Kelly is so friendly. She gets to know her customers, and always asks how the family is doing. And the food is always spot on. But, I do miss their buffet.

Got late lunch/early dinner yesterday. I got the special low main, NO complaints, some have complained about small shrimp but for my dish it worked great! I was confused on my 6 year old daughter’s pork and broccoli meal, it didn’t seem to have sauce and had alot of shredded carrots which I was was not expecting BUT she tore into her meal without complaint lol she wolfed down her egg roll and fried rice and filled up with half the pork and broccoli portion. Next time I know to try order an egg roll or two for myself!

I ordered garlic shrimp and do you notice there's no shrimp. There are a few in here but it is mostly it is all mushrooms. I have never had Chinese food with this many mushrooms in my life. I hate to waste food but this is by far the worst. I called because it was my mistake for not realizing they use mushrooms (not onions) as a filler . The pictures should be enough. The lady on the phone kept saying next time, but there will be NO NEXT TIME!!

I've been for lunch several times and I've always enjoyed it. The amount of food has always left me, my Queen, and my uncle satisfied. I recommend the lunch deals; as good as it is, I don't think I'd pay more than those deals. I have to say, I have incredible respect for our waitress and cook. From my dining perspective, it looks like the whole place is a three-man-show. One waitress acting as table busser and host, one chef, and one manager usually helping with the food. Each time I've been there, our waitress professionally and positively handled the entire room of customers alone with no mistakes.

Stopped by the mandarin to celebrate the end of semester and was disappointed. Don’t let the wait staff or other comments gaslight you into thinking that this is actually chow mein and we are used to lo mein a simple google search will tell you that’s simply not true. Chow mein is supposed to be crispier but I’m pretty sure someone got confused when they were making kapusta Zasmaźana (polish stewed cabbage) and added the crispy chow mein noodles to it. Chow mein is made very similar to lo mein except the noodles are stir fried creating a crispier saucy coating where lo mein has more of a saucy texture like pasta. Just in case you are confused. Anyways service was fine a little slow but they seemed a little understaffed for the rush so we weren’t too bothered. The lighting was a little bright for our taste and some ambiance music would have been nice. If you like somewhat toned down Chinese flavors this is the place for you. The fried rice was a little old and wasn’t really fried. And the sauce was lacking on your chicken but otherwise it was fine? Probably won’t be back for the amount of food you get the cost isn’t horrible but we spend less at different restaurants in the area and feel more satisfied. Anyways I’m sure a specific demographic loves this place but not us.

Well, I guess the best thing is that it's convenient and cheap. I am not sure what I was eating, but it was not crab legs or wholey recognizable. Except for the pine apple. I did have shrimp mixed in, I could tell because the tails crunched in the sauce. Unfortunately the place is dark, and when I arrived many of the entree's were empty or had been sitting a long time on the steam table. Needless to say I am alive to share with you today. The most exciting visual was the gumball machines.

If there was less than one star this would get it. The food is inedible, plateful after plateful of disgusting slop. Shame on the workers of this place. Rancid vegetables. Cold stale food.
