China Kitchen

The customer service is okay.Thankfully the food was delicious. We got sesame seed chicken & shrimp fried rice. It was fresh & hot. Nice portions as well.

Pictures can be quite deceptive. The food looks 1000x better than it tastes. I got the sweet and sour shrimp. The coating on the shrimp was too doughy and salty. The general chicken was ok but didn't taste like the chicken Chinese restaurants typically use for general chicken. The rice tasted old and had a funny after taste. The egg rolls had way too much cabbage. Please SAVE YOUR MONEY. THIS PLACE IS TRASH. I got a stomach bug immediately after eating this garbage.

Great Qualty great service. & large servering we ordered lunch specials. everything on the menu is excellent

1/24/2024 Respone to owner.... I give everyone another chance Will update when I do. 1/21/2024 1st review, The food is good but not great. First of all I never you the sauces on the food. I want to true flavor of the product. Soooo, Egg drop soup tastes more like vegetable. No creamy, rich egg flavor. Egg Rolls were very bland. No flavor at all tasted like cabbage, that's all. Human Beef was good but could have been great if it was spicy.

Dangela's Dumplings

I came here with my family, didn’t know what to expect, so we came curious, but left with happiness. The food is phenomenal, it’s better than some of the dumplings I had in Chicago, the flavor tastes like home, super authentic. As long as I’m in town, I’m going to stop at this place. All of their dumplings are hand made by the owner and her mom, speaking of which, the owners are the most down to earth people you will ever meet, they care about their restaurant, as you can tell from the elegant decor and cleanliness of it, she cares about the quality of the food and the customers, and treat their customers like family. I definitely recommend this place.

I’ve been here many times. I love it for excellent dumplings and conversation with friends and family, and for excellent dumplings by myself when I want to listen to my audiobook or sit down with my computer to get some work done. People are super nice. At peak times there may be a wait because the dumplings are made to order and they get busy, but it’s very worth it. If you like eggs, their tea eggs are great!

China Garden Restaurant

I was at the Genesee theater, watching “The Nutcracker” and after the show ended, I decided to get a bite somewhere nearby. that’s when I stumbled upon China Garden Restaurant! luckily there was no line they took my order within seconds and the food came out within minutes. The lady who took my order was very nice and patient with me since it was my first time there. It was really delicious!!!! I had number #10 - the chicken and broccoli (pictured below) .

I recently moved here. Their hot and sour soup is pretty good, but everything else is just OK. It's overpriced for the portions. The food lacks flavor, and the service is not the best. I was disappointed overall and hope this changes. I have chosen to go to Green Tea instead. (EDIT, I only reviewed China Garden after I tried Green Tea and realized that their food is so much better and more reasonably priced. And yes, I do love Chinese food, just not yours.)

Kuro Bistro

Very large menu with a healthy variety. we had a party of 8 for lunch and had a great experience. Fresh, friendly, and thorough!

The experience with my family here has been truly amazing. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was incredibly friendly. I would definitely choose to return to this place when I'm back in town. It's highly recommended! Thank you!

BANGKOK TOKYO Restaurant

Best authentic asia cuisine in town that now has delicious breakfast on the weekends. Wonderful place with amazing customer service. Restaurant is small, but cozy, very clean and nice. I love the drawings on the walls. Parking is limited because of all the other businesses and restaurants near it.

I have always had wonderful service here! And the only thing better then the service, is the food! I've never had a dish that has disappointed me. I have been really enjoying their lunch menu and am very excited they brought their breakfast menu back!

Teriyaki Madness

1087reviews

An excellent option for a casual bite - quick, tasty, and a nice alternative to all the other burger and sandwich places. They also don’t add any MSG. We typically order the salmon or chicken teriyaki bowl, but the spicy chicken bowl is delicious too. They’ve got a spicy “Sriracha” style sauce you can add, which brings a little extra kick. All of the locations we’ve been to have been clean and well-kept, but the Vernon Hills location is particularly nice.

My first experience ever at a Teriyaki Madness was at the Gurnee location this past early December and I'm so glad to have tried it. TM has grown on me big time, I looove this place! Roughly 3 weeks later that month, my family & I were in Vernon Hills and my wife was asking what the dinner plans were. I knew Mellody Farm boasts an extensive array of great eats so TM sounded downright mouthwatering. I figured we haven't tried the VH location yet and my stepdaughter who hasn't tried TM yet was back from college for Christmas break so it was good timing. It's amazing what you can do with a short menu and convert it into an expanding sensation. Not sure about the slightly lower ratings at this location compared to the Gurnee location but the value of the food, cleanliness of the venue and service are all consistently good. Easily at least a couple of times a month I gotta get my fill of the madness and this place will always hit the spot. I hope for continued booming business for the owner(s) for decades to come.

BIBIBOP Asian Grill

First time here. Basically an Asian version of Chipotle. You choose your base (rice, noodles or greens) and then protein, veggies and sauce. I had the sweet potato noodles with organic tofu, veggies and a sesame sauce and my husband had the purple rice with steak with gochuang sauce. Both were good for fast food, but my husband's steak was chewy instead of tender and was a cheap tasting cut. Service was very good at this location with both people behind the counter pleasant, and the dining area clean (though not too comfortable due to hard chairs). Unsweetened black iced tea with currant was delicious. Steak bowl was $13 and tofu bowl $11.

This is a dedicated gluten-free place and you can make sure any other allergens or dietary restrictions are taken seriously. It's an order at the counter kind of place, but very clean an inviting. It feels like a step up from Tokyo Joe's. The miso soup is available to anyone for self-serve. All the ingredients I had with my bowl were delicious. They even let me do the base as half and half: half purple rice, half sweet potato noodles. The bathrooms were clean too.

Hong Kong Chop Suey

I ordered Cashew chicken with no onions. Got home and my order was all onions, should call it onion chicken since there were no cashews. The canned mushrooms were a nice touch...

Been going to this place for years for the lunch special. The portion has always been extremely generous and the food has always been hot, fresh and delicious. I travel from Gurnee just for this food. Best Chinese food I've ever had.

Jun Ho

This place caught my eye when I saw it was one of the higher rated places in Mundelein, decided to give it a shot. Ordered on phone, person was very happy to help. I ordered Orange Chicken Jung-Ho special, and fried wontons. When I came home, I realized they forgot the rice with the chicken. The chicken itself was good flavor and good sauce. The wontons however, where absolutely horrible. Tasted super stale, and upon biting into one I realized they had absolutely no filling. Wontons 0/10. Hopefully next time things are better.

This is the closest Chinese takeout, but every time we 'give them another chance', they fail on all accounts. "It will be ready in 30-minutes" has never been accurate (more like 60-minutes). Prices are high especially given the small portions (come on - rice, vegetables, noodles... these are inexpensive ingredients - load it up to at least give the impression that it's a large serving size) Never a fan of the food itself - seems bland and usually over-cooked. Staff has never been very accommodating

Tang's Chinese Restaurant

Was kind of bummed because my beef fried rice didn’t have any veggies in it like advertised. Ordered takeout and everything else was alright. Prices ok and portions pretty good.

The food is so awesome. We no loner live in the area. So it’s a shame you can no longer eat inside the restaurant, when we come back to visit. So we ordered 6 beef fried rice meals to go and we packed it in a cooler to take back to our home. For various family members to enjoy.

I stopped in while in the area for work. I ordered the drunken noodle with chicken and a Thai iced tea. Both were delicious, with the drunken noodle serving up a bold and spicy flavor. It was on the spicier side compared to other places, so if you prefer a milder dish, it might be worth asking to adjust the spice level. The lunch portion was generous, perfect for a hearty meal, and the Thai iced tea complemented the dish well, balancing out the spice. Everything was extremely reasonably priced. Service was excellent—staff were friendly, and the food came out hot and quickly. Overall, a great spot for flavorful Thai food with attentive service.

Food: The food was decent. We had crab Rangoon as an app - and it was good, but I have had better. However their dipping sauce was not good. It was oily and bland not the consistency of most places I got my usually go to meal - the cashew chicken. It was good but I’ve had better. The chicken was lean with no suspicious pieces and the vegetables were crisp and fresh, just wish it had a bit more flavor and a bit more cashews. The mister got the Mongolian beef and also liked that. The meat was tender with no suspicious meats. Service: the service was good. It was not busy when we dined. I don’t believe they serve adult beverages, so we drank lots of water. Atmosphere: the atmosphere was nice too. I liked the tall booths (gave you privacy) and the elephant art on the walls. I did not care for the light music they played lol, but it was softly playing in background. It’s hard to find a good Thai restaurant in the area. This one is good but for the best must travel too far!
