Grand Palace
We visited this Chinese restaurant for dinner and tried a variety of authentic Cantonese dishes. There were five of us, and we ordered nine different items to sample. Everything was flavorful and delicious. My personal favorites were the steamed fish and duck. The fish was incredibly fresh and tender, with a soy sauce base and a hint of ginger. The duck was also very flavorful—slightly salty, but it paired perfectly with white rice. The vegetable dishes were equally impressive. Overall, if you’re looking for authentic Cantonese cuisine, this is definitely a place to try!
Great steamed fish and veggies and fried rice! Will come back
Evergreen Restaurant
My family and friends loved the restaurant. It has a nostalgic atmosphere with good food. The portions are plentiful. The staff is wonderful and they are really attentive. Loved the lobster. Will definitely come back. They have a bar and make virgin drinks for kids. You will find something you enjoy on their menu. Bes spot un Chinatown! Thank you, Wendy!!
My future wifey was invited by work to come here she asked me to join her. Walked in and was greeted by the hostess. Our party waved at us and we pointed at them so she let us go. We sat down and we talked and talked. I waited for menus not knowing food was already ordered for us. Food started coming out and it looked delicious, I started salivating, and it smelled wonderful. A little of everything came out and served family style. I actually enjoyed the family style. Food was served on a glass top that spins so you can spin it and grab what you want. It happened to be Chinese New Year's when we came here. I highly recommend this place, the foods good and authentic.
Yummy Yummy Noodles
Went in on NYD for a warm soup with a group of 5. Seated immediately, the menu is printed and looks like it’s been enlarged and so the text is blurry. The service is lovely but the food was lacking. The soup broth is bland and there are no vegetables in the soups. We ordered the dumpling soup, the beef soup, beef with noodles and the bbq pork fried rice. The flavors were just very plain and bland. The beef was not a beef cut, looked like tripe or some other offal, there were also concerns about hygiene as there was a hair in one of the soups and the bathroom was disgusting. We didn’t finish our meals and I would not recommend. The price at least didn’t make this visit worse as it was only $60 for 5 people. You do get a fortune cookie at the end of the meal. Mine said “Find release from your cares, have a good time”.
I visited yummy yummy noodles and ordered the roasted duck and noodle soup. The flavor was very authentic with a good portion of duck. We had the chicken skewers for an appetizer, they were fried hard and tasted great I’d recommend visiting them if you’re in Chinatown
Triple Crown Restaurant
My friend took me here because he said this was his favorite restaurant in Chicago so I had very high expectations and I was not disappointed. We ordered a lot of food and everything was delicious down to the hot tea. We got there early so we were seated by the window and had a wonderful view of the street below. Service was quick. Everything came out hot and fresh. Empty dishes were cleared promptly. My favorite was the pan fried dumplings! This will be a must stop whenever I'm in Chicago now too.
Amazing food as always and a great Christmas dinner. The chow mein with extra bean sprouts and the corn and shrimp dumplings are my absolute favorites and I order them every time I go. They can’t wait to return. I would skip the fried rice next time or maybe order it with extra bean sprouts.
Emperor's Choice
Came here because of the reviews and I was not disappointed. I’m used to really good Chinese food when I lived in N.Y., Philly and L.A. now that I live in Houston, it’s very hard to find decent Chinese food. While visiting Chicago I was impressed. The food here was excellent as was the service. Ordered the pork fried rice, chicken Lo main, beef egg fu young and the emperors special. Next time I come I think I will order the chicken fried rice as that seems to be more popular in Chicago. Highly recommended.
Had a very good experience and throughly enjoyed our lunch.Large portions of sesame beef and sweet and sour chicken.Beautiful restaurant in Chicago's Chinatown.
Ken Kee Restaurant Hong Kong
We saw an Instagram video about the afternoon tea deal at Ken Kee, so we had to try it (this was in May). There's quite a wide array of options that you can get for their weekday 2-5pm $10 for a drink and dish deal. Since we had already had lunch, we got the HK french toast and the ovaltine french toast. We also got hot milk teas. The milk tea is literally milk+tea, so you have to add any sugar yourself. I wasn't really in the mood for it -- even after adding 3 packs of sugar, it still wasn't as sweet as I would've liked (which perhaps speaks to how much sugar goes into milk teas!) The HK french toast was not as good as the ones I have had in the past. The bread was rather dense and chewy rather than being fluffy, so it was kind of hard to get through, and the flavoring wasn't very strong on the outside. The ovaltine french toast was really cool -- when you cut it, the condensed milk filling/topping oozes out. I thought this was much better in terms of flavor. Interestingly, it tasted a bit like peanut butter. Overall I enjoyed the vibes of the restaurant with the neon lights and cute food illustrations on the table, but I probably wouldn't get the toasts again. I've been here many times before in the distant past to get dinner with my family, and I do have good memories (first time having egg tofu!) so I'll probably be back someday...
Located right in the heart of Chinatown Square plaza, adjacent to one of the main pagodas, you'll find Ken Kee which is a perfect place to try street food inspired dishes. You can't miss the neon lights! The build-your-own cart noodles are especially addictive as are the appetizers. The chicken wings are marinated similarly to Chinese duck but are fall-apart tender.
Haidilao HotPot Chicago Inc
As a busy realtor, with my husband managing his tattoo shop and our 10-year-old balancing school, finding quality family time is rare. Our visit to Haidilao Hot Pot in Chicago turned out to be the perfect experience we needed. From the moment we walked in, the entire staff made us feel welcome, setting the tone for a warm, enjoyable meal. Erin, our server, was a standout, offering exceptional service, guiding us through the menu, and making sure we had everything we needed for a seamless dining experience. The interactive dining style was a hit with our son, who loved cooking his own food right at the table. The combination of flavorful broths and an array of fresh ingredients made it both fun and delicious for everyone. Erin’s helpful tips and genuine care added a special touch, making the night memorable. Haidilao is more than just a meal; it’s a full family experience, and we’ll definitely be back.
The first Chicago Haidilao experience was amazing! My cousins took my family and I there. Atmosphere was welcoming, clean and neat as well. My kids loved the food delivery machine “kitty.” Also, not to mention, great service from servant named Erin. She was very friendly, quick, and responsive to our needs; super helpful throughout the dinner. My kids were gifted with lovely cute fan toys even though they knocked out by then. It for sure made our Chicago food adventure more pleasure than ever! Recommended for everyone who lives or plan to visit Chicago!
MCCB Chicago
Excellent. We went without reservation for lunch and had to wait for 20 minutes. The place is very casual and not that big. We ordered: chicken egg roll, pork dumplings, dry chicken, fried rice and stir fry steak. We loved everything. The only one that we didnt love as much as the other dishes was the dry chicken, very spicy. Everything was prepared fast. Would go back!
Visiting from NYC and it was AMAZING. Portions were great, food came out at a timely manner, staff is polite and attentive. This will be my go to restaurant when I want delicious Chinese food.
Dongpo Impression
You gotta love Dongpo! I came here with my work and got about a dozen different shareable items. I ate Crab Rangoons, Scallion Pancakes, Potstickers, Dumplings (Peking and Crystal Shrimp), Xiao Long Bao, Wolf “Teeth” Potatoes, Fried Rice, Flat Noodles, Dan Dan Noodles, Orange Chicken, and some spicy chicken dish. The food was delicious and I had a great time! My favorites were the Rangoons, Scallion Pancakes (this was a surprise), and Dan Dan Noodles. They played Maroon 5 music for us the entire time, which was fun. Some of the food took a little long to come out, but what do you expect when you randomly walk in with 16 people. The server gave great recommendations and accommodated to our shenanigans. This is a top tier 4 star review from me, and I only give 4 stars because some of the food wasn’t at the 5 star level in terms of quality. Overall, though, I definitely recommend
Came specifically for the dry chili chicken and that did not disappoint! Was delicious. The rest of the items were subpar I think. Staff was very fast and attentive :)
Hunan Bistro 湘缘
Absolutely outstanding Hunan cuisine! The flavors were delightful and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice. The service was exceptionally friendly as well. Among the dishes, the beef rice noodles stood out for their tender texture and delicious beef broth, while the mashed pepper/eggplant with preserved eggs absorbed so much flavor. The ground pork with mustard and the smoked pork and bamboo shoot dry pot were also standout dishes. Overall, every dish were super aromatic, and with so many more menu items to explore, I'm looking forward to returning for more.
Definitely authentic Hunan Cuisine. We ordered the fish( definitely order the whole fish as it is fresh), sticky tofu( it is crispy and flavorful), dried beef pot. Everything is so good that we are definitely going to back to try more!
Golden Bull Restaurant
Efficient, attentive and friendly service in a cozy restaurant. Food arrive shortly after we ordered. Mild and clean vegetables soup was good, the vegetables were not overcooked. Seafood tofu soup was on point, it being out more flavor with red vinegar. Not fishy at all. mild shredded chicken with sesame seeds and a hint of sesame oil served cold was one of my favorites. Flavorful bitter melon with black bean sauce were perfectly cooked with a mild crisp. Savory clams with minced pork in black bean sauce was obsessed for. Tender, flavorful Beef with Chinese broccoli over crispy noodles was so good. Our little one keep asking for more . Highly recommended.
This was some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. We came on a weekend and were seated right away. The food came out quickly and there was sooooo much - the dishes are bigger than expected, but that meant leftovers! Even when reheating, everything tasted great. The restaurant validates parking for the large lot in the area. Highly recommend coming here!
Great China House
The man was not too friendly. He seemed asked for my ID when I paid , which was totally fine. When I said the order was FOR HERE he told me it is completely different service for here orders and I should have it to go.
The food is always piping hot and the crispy things stay crispy. The soups are freshly made and they use an array of fresh veggies as well. The prices are reasonable - and you get your $$$ worth and them some.
