Kung Fu Tea
Good place to hangout with friends. Provides games too. Good ambiance and quick service. One of the good boba places in town.
This is one of my favorite places in Champaign. Great food and bubble tea, but pricy. Their food quality is great. We ordered a customized sushi burrito and sushi roll, and both were awesome. Our favorite thing was the crispy tofu. The drinks were also good, but even with the 30% sugar they were very sweet (some of the drinks have pre-added sugar so keep that in mind). As for the price, for the 2 drinks and 3 food items it was $50. Even though it is a little expensive for a college town spot, I’ll still come here weekly because it’s delicious.
Great Wall
The hot & sour soup is my favorite. It is the best around. The rice is a bit greasy for me. I ordered the lunch portion of General tso's chicken, and the portion was large enough for two.
I don't know if I am spoiled or not coming from Columbus, but this entire experience was bad. GFS could sell a better Chinese restaurant. Pictured 21 dollars of lo mein and 12 dollars of 'fried' rice. On top of the unimpressive food, the service was deplorable and lacked any sense of urgency. Maybe it's my fault for ordering at 6 pm on a Sunday, but 62 dollars is a lot to spend on reheated Kroger meals for 2 people. -10/10 do not recommend.
EVO 重慶
We prefer takeout from EVO any day rather than the P place. The EVO dishes change every day?!!! EvO just tastes better and is a really good value for the lunch special plates. The staff are as friendly as expected, generous on serving sizes, and fast.
The foods are little too oily and salty here. But concerning the price and portion and flavor, can’t ask for more in tight budget.
Northern Cuisine
We recently visited Northern Cuisine for lunch over the weekend. Despite the crowd, the waiting time was relatively short, around 5-10 minutes, even though we hadn’t made a reservation. Once seated, we were impressed by the flavorful dishes, each bursting with rich, authentic tastes. The portions were generous, ensuring we left feeling fully satisfied. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, both in terms of taste and value.
Pricier option for Chinese food but you pay for the environment and service. Food was good but I wouldn't say it's superior to other places nearby, and all the chillies in the dish didn't provide the heat.
Cao's Hot Pot
Food is fresh, soup bases are super flavorful. They have a wide variety of vegetables, meat and noodles. The owners are so sweet and very accommodating & attentive!! They have a nice little selection of fresh fruit and desserts.
Excellent food in a friendly, family-like atmosphere!! The food was fresh and served with care. The broths were delicious! Awesome flavors! You can tell they take pride in their business! One of the best hot pot restaurants I’ve been to in Central Illinois!
Panda Express
I had a disappointing experience at Panda Express recently. I stood in line for 20 minutes because the staff was incredibly slow. Despite seeing a long line of customers, they didn’t speed up their service or show any urgency to help people get their orders quickly. I was running out of time and eventually had to rush, which completely ruined the purpose of a quick meal stop. This is not the level of efficiency I expect from a fast-casual restaurant.
The experience I had today at Panda was pitiful. I already avoid this location because of the general manager’s attitude towards customers. However, I wanted to give them another chance in case things miraculously changed, but I was unfortunately reminded of the exact reason why I never go to this Panda in the first place. On top of the food rarely being fresh, the manager Brianna’s demeanor is distasteful and unwelcoming. Panda needs to do a better job when considering the staff and their choices of management.
Panda Express
I already had low expectations considering it's Panda Express but this is a new low. Cold food that has been sitting around for hours . I would suggest you stay home and eat Top Roman it would be more filling.
Food is aways good. But Esse helped us and was a complete under disgrace and very disrespectful and rude to my family . I kept my mouth shut, normally don’t. Talked to the manager and he talked to her as she tried to deny it. She also messed up our order and her reply was that she gave us what we asked for.
Szechuan Taste Champaign LLC
We were just visiting the town to pick up our child from the camp. We were looking for a typical college town Americanized Chinese food and found this one on the street. The outside looks hip and it sits between the trendy bubble tea shop. Make no mistake, we had a great authentic Chinese flavors here. We ordered Beef Noodle, Bang Bang Chicken, Combination Friend Rice and Pan Fried Flat Noodle with combination meat. All four of them were so very delicious. They also have Panda Express type of cafeteria style order, but our cook was made to order and ingredients were very fresh. The price was a bit higher than what I would expect from a meal in a college town, but the portions were so generous. Definitely recommend it!
Delicious Chinese food with generous portion size. I would definitely recommend scrambled egg with shrimp.
Shiquan Wonton
Ordered from DoorDash 1️⃣ 蒜蓉粉丝竹蛏/Bamboo Razor Clams with Garlic and Vermicelli- The flavor was extremely salty, but the vermicelli was quite filling. The razor clams were tender and springy, and the garlic sauce was excellent. However, you’ll need a lot of drinks to wash it down—my throat felt dry after eating. 2️⃣ 蒜蓉粉丝扇贝/Scallops with Vermicelli in Garlic Sauce- Similar to 1️⃣—also very salty but with a satisfying texture. The scallops were fresh and paired well with the garlic, but again, you’ll want to keep a drink handy. 3️⃣ 番茄雞蛋麵/ Tomato and Egg Noodles- The portion size was huge, definitely enough to share. However, like the other dishes, it was overly salty. The eggs were generously portioned and perfectly cooked, adding a nice balance to the dish. 4️⃣ 紅油炒手/ Wonton with Hot Chili Oil- The chili oil had an aromatic, rich flavor, and the wontons were stuffed generously with a flavorful filling. This dish stood out as a highlight despite the overall heavy flavors. 整體: 不要這麼鹹,會給高分 很可惜
I would have given them 6 starts if there’s a choice. Food is always amazing and authentic. My extra star is for their service. I ordered spicy wonton but the first bowl was just full of broken wontons, stuffings and warps were separate. They replaced with a second bowl and told me they were trying to boil a third one because there are still some broken wontons in their second try. Finally they gave me a perfect bowl of wontons! See the picture. The first two bowls were wrapped differently so they were so easy to be broken when boiling. Very good service If you want to know what does good hand-made wontons look like, see the wrinkles on the skin. They attached so tight to the stuffing that they wrinkled like that.
DD Fish 炙鱼
Easily one of the best restaurants in Champaign. Authentic fresh cooked chinese dishes, and quality grilled fish. Braised Beef Brisket is amazing!
Gorgeous environment and delicious food! I highly recommend the grilled fish. You can choose from different kinds of fish and add veggies of your choice. The fried shrimp is very crispy. Nice dinning experience here :)
Rainbow Garden
We ordered Curry Chicken, Princess Chicken, and Noodles and had it delivered. It was nothing short of awesome. Very good food. Loved it! And we love Rainbow Garden.
I have been searching for a good hot and sour soup that is not oily and I have found it! Best soup and the general tso chicken was out of this world!!!! Amazing, I wish we had this in belleville illinois.
Peking Garden Restaurant
I had Sal-Cha Triple Delights with noodles instead of rice and 2 spring rolls. Man....it was amazing! Made and delivered in record time. Love this place! 😀
I didn’t get to feel the vibe that makes go “wow” when I walked in. The crab rangoons was golden and crispy with melted cream cheese filling inside. There was little to no crab in that filling. The BBQ pork fired rice was dried and I didn’t taste any BBQ sauce. There was chunks of fried pork in the rice. The vegetable lo mein was good. Noodles coated in seasoned sauce. Well done juicy duck was tasty and meat was soft and not too “tender.” The lettuce in sauce was very mushy for me. Either it was blanched or cooked too long with the sauce. The beef stir fry with mushrooms and bamboo shoots was good. Meat was tender and veggies not overcooked.
