San Maru Korean Restaurant
We came during weekday lunchtime. The server was very friendly and attentive. I love their lunch special——many options at fair prices. I ordered the beef soup. Rice was included. The food tastes like homemade dishes and not too salty.
I really enjoyed the pork bulgogi and ojingeo bokkeum (spicy stir-fried squid), but the flavor of the kimchi jjigae didn’t quite suit my taste.
Mayflowers Chinese Restaurant
Carol was awesome!! Delicious food. She is the only one running the show, waitress, cook, she does it all. First time here and will be back for sure
Food was amazing and super fresh! The woman running everything by herself was absolutely awesome and is a very family safe place! I was not disappointed in anyway! I will definitely be coming back often.
China Express
Cashier got up from sitting down feeding her family, never washed her hands , rang me up then went str8 to the deep fryer to put my egg rolls in with bare hands. Scooped out my rice with bare hands, went back to feeding her family. Cook. Never washed his hands before preparing my food. Had a glove on his left hand that held the pots, with his bare right hand touched all my food in preparation. I mentioned this to him and her and they claimed it wasn't true, offered to recook my food , told them not necessary I'll just report you to the health department , which I did.
For a small town, it's good. I'd have this over china king buffet. Veru sweet friendly staff. Food isn't like eating in China, but it still tastes good. They also know my orders and specifics when I call in for my carryout order. Food definitely is not bland. It's american Chinese cuisine that you'd get from any other city and state. Yeah, you still end up hungry an hour after stuffing your face, but they have great quantities! And I'll reheat that fir days when I rarely do reheat left overs. Yum yum git ya some!
Panda Express
09/10/2024 they have the vegetarian version of the orange chicken, as “Beyond orange chicken” and it was on my bucket list to get it again because it’s so delicious. I’m so grateful to Panda Express for bringing it back, and I’m hopeful they’ll keep it around this time. Pros: -friendly employees on 9/10/2024 visit although they were going to serve everyone else first they didn’t have my food cooked yet so I had to ask to at least pay first and not be totally skipped in line -they have the Beyond orange plant based chicken! -plenty of seating in the mall food court -cool fortunes in fortune cookies 🥠 -Panda express rewards app can be scanned here Cons: -they didn’t have any of the Beyond orange ready and so I had to wait for them to cook it -the ice water tasted weird and not fresh water
Affordable and good portion size.
Sushi Kame
Some of the best Midwest sushi available. I am really picky about tuna because I lived in Aomori Japan and I really enjoyed their tuna. The takoyaki is also authentic and very tasty. All of the staff is really lovely. It is a small space, but quite cozy. I miss their previous location, but everything here is just as good. Highly recommend
Used to love this place. But last time we went there, it took forever for our sushi to be served and the sushi wasn't good. I'm pretty sure they didnt use sushi rice. The taste was bland and sushi was cold.
Cravings
I can say the best Chinese restaurant I've tried in US or even north American. Authentic, delicious and in a good price range. The szechuan eggplant and kuey tiew beef (name is different on menu) are amazing. 10 to 20 dollar per person and in lunch hours u can get dishes for as low as 8 to 10 dollar, and free chinese tea!
My favourite restaurant on campus! Good food for a great price, especially the lunch specials. The owner is really nice aswell. Recommend checking this place out!
Bangkok Thai & PHO911#2
Two women that can really cook. Absolutely happy with my meal. They complemented the heat level that I was looking for. And the flavor was extremely perfect. Dipping the rice with the juice was delicious! CHICKEN MUSSAMUN CURRY 🍛❤️
A gem hidden away Barely noticed it, but glad we stopped in Had cashew chicken myself Flavorful, large portion and great price Quiet, cozy, calm environment Good service Fast refills Lots of yummy options
Basil Thai Kitchen
Just perfect. Good size, fair price. Very polite staff. It was my first time there and just loved
I tried Combo 2 with vegetarian options (tofu and broccoli). It tasted good within affordable price range.
Oozu Ramen
My favorite part of the experience is the atmosphere. The big bowl of fake ramen in the front, the wall decorations, the lanterns was just so beautiful and so much to look at! Never ending eye wander. I got the vegetarian ramen and my hubby got the curry ramen and both was delicious. Ageshi tofu was tasty and the fried calamari was just OK. I didn't really like the sauce. Broth was delicious and noodle was great. One thing I noticed is that they kept refilling our water which I love. Sometimes the servers never refill my water and I have to ask but not this place. None stop service. Everything was great. Will definitely come back for some more delicious ramen!
I came here hungry for some savory Ramen and left pretty disappointed. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and was sorely disappointed by it. The broth was weak and flavorless and the noddles were just okay. The eggs were really good but that's not good enough for a $16 meal.
Bangkok Thai Restaurant & Pho 911
Cashew chicken is unreal delicious — best I’ve ever had. I recommend paying a few more dollars for double chicken. Green curry is also superb. I grew up in Southeast Asia having alot of good Thai, and this place never disappoints. Food tastes really authentic and not over sweetened like many Thai restaurants in the U.S. tend to do. Have tried other Thai places in the area like “Sticky Rice” and it doesn’t even come close to here.
Highly popular joint for anyone who likes Thai food. Super fast service with a smile. One of the few places which has genuinely spicy food. Pad thai noodles and green curry with rice recommended. The crab cakes are just awesome. Clean place. Good portions as well. Standard place for students. Reasonably priced as well. One of the iconic places for all students .
YGF Malatang UIUC
This was my first time having malatang at a restaurant, and it was a great experience! There is a large selection of ingredients you can add to your bowl, such as veggies, noodles, tofu, meat, and seafood. My favorites were the crystal noodles, bean curd strips, and beef (I chose the less fatty one, and it was super tender). There’s also a little station where you can add fresh toppings/make your own dipping sauce just like at hot pot. I got the classic herbal beef bone broth, which was pretty mild but I added chili paste from the dipping sauce bar to make it spicy. The broth was amazing quality — silky smooth and really flavorful. Each ingredient was perfectly cooked in the broth, and it was a super cozy meal overall. The service was great too, and the interior is really nice. I’ll definitely come back again, especially in the colder weather!
The Mala Tang is very delicious. The environment is also clean and tidy. It is recently opened new store. Another great lunch restaurant on Green St.
Lanxang Thai Restaurant
AMAZING service and food! This place is very clean and brings out your food so fast! I was dining in with my boyfriend and felt like I was right at home, the staff are so welcoming, attentive and kind. The pho is always perfect with a rich and flavorful broth, all the fresh toppings and the bowl is huge for the price. We decided to try the BBQ pork pad Thai this time and after over 20 years eating pad Thai from many different places, this is my new favorite ever and it’s in town!! It’s just THAT good and I day dream about this dish more that I’d like to admit lol They also have a super awesome appetizer sampler that gives you some chicken satay, egg rolls and crab rangoon that I feel like is the best for 2-3 people. I always get it now. Their Thai iced tea is what it’s supposed to be. It’s rich, not watered down and the same goes for their thai iced coffee. They even grabbed me a to go to take the rest with me. Overall every time I get food from here I’m very satisfied with the fast service and the food is beyond flavorful. The prices are great too compared to others in town so this is my GO TO THAI FOOD SPOT IN CHAMPAIGN
Went for dinner. Pretty decent tasting Thai and Laos place. Tried chicken Satay, Lomien, Pad Thai along with veggie egg roll
