Basil Thai At Urbana
I really enjoyed going here! Before you go, know that it is NOT the same place as Basil Thai Kitchen in the Marketplace Mall. These are two unrelated businesses. I ended up getting the fried chicken with seasoned rice (I panicked and they have featured dishes on the wall to your right when you enter) and it was so baller. The chicken was very soft and chewy, the rice was a great compliment to it. The workers were incredibly kind and open to any questions if you needed it. And I saved the best for last: water is free! You get free water with your order, there's a sink by the return point with cups and you can fill one up. Lovely restaurant, will go again. I want them to know me by name.
What a super awesome place for a quick bite to eat in the college town. Wait staff was super friendly easy to order. What I like most is that they actually give you the spiciness that is required. True Thai heatš . Prices were very reasonable and serving sizes were exceptional. Definitely a return visit in the future.
Fat Sandwich Company
Fat Sandwich is such a staple of UIUC. Iāve only ever gotten the Fat MILF and itās all I could ever want in a sandwich. Iām so glad that itās still around (I graduated in 2017). ILL!
This are a go-to late night spot. The names are funny and the sandwiches are really good. One thing I really liked was that they let you control the aux. This means you can catch a stray vibe when you dine in. The place is decorated cool and I would recommend this place to anyone who wants some grub after going to the bars.
Y-Thai
This restaurant is in YMCA, serving decent Thai & Chinese food, which only open at lunch time 10:30-3:30. I didn't know this place before, but it turned out that I'm having very good experience with their food. They offer a very large serving of food and the taste is very good. The price is ~$10 per plate including Rice/PadThai + 2 toppings + 1 eggroll/drink. However, they only have ~8 dishes. Overall, I like the place and would recommend it.
I have loved and frequented this spot for over 25 years. Today was the first time I have been back since the new owner took over. I am sorry I didnāt get his name but he was delightful. I bought 5 orders of shrimp pad Thai for myself and my family. The new packaging and portion size were amazing! The pad Thai was even better than I have ever had. I can tell the products are quality and the spice was perfect. I am so glad I came in today and so is my family who was able to drive home over an hour and half and heat it up. Would highly recommend and will be back!
Thai Fusion
Are at the mini version underneath the Illini Union. I had the chicken & shrimp teriyaki with fried rice and it was made perfectly. Everything was made fresh and you can see them cooking your food incase youāre worried. Props to the chef today he did an amazing job.
I was taken by surprise with the quality and taste of the food here at Thai Fusion. The lady taking our order was very pleasant and helpful in explaining the dishes. The food portions were great and the heat levels were just right. I have had a lot of good Thai food but this was top level. Curry Fried Rice with Beef and Pad Ped.
Noodles and Company
Review written 11/02/2024. Quick service for pickup orders and usually made accurately. Nice rewards program with deals and coupons. Only con of this location is limited parking as it is on campus.
Had an amazing mouth watering rigatoni rose veggie pasta . Loved the subtle flavour . A must try .
Star BBQ
This place is fantastic. I came here with some friends and everyone was super friendly and helpful. One of the best restaurants I've been to.
Went here with a friend and had the AYCE at $34.99 per person. The portions are smaller, so if you have a smaller appetite, it will work for you. Staff was very friendly and were kind to me when I had forgotten my headphones in the restaurant. Recommend if you're a UIUC student looking to eat KBBQ!
GOLDEN WHEAT(LAO BIAO č蔨)
Delicious house made noodles with a nice view of Green Street for people watching. The restaurant itself is fairly casual and sparsely decorated but clean. You order from a digital menu which consists of a range of mainly noodle dishes and rice bowls. I had the braised beef noodle soup with egg noodles and found it delicious. The noodles were perfectly chewy and springy, and paired well with the rich, flavorful broth and well spiced (although somewhat dry) meat). The portion was huge (for my appetite at least, I say others devour the same dish) and left plenty of leftovers. I do wish it came with a few more toppings to balance out the heaps of noodles.
Solid authentic Chinese fast food option. Food is fresh and cooked well. Portions are large and about what youād expect to get for the price. Atmosphere is like a cafe and less like a restaurant. The menu on the wall is only in chinese though.
Ko Campus
The stir fry here is great. I loved the spicy beef. Itās great with the noodles, but Iām sure it would be excellent with the rice as well.
we stopped after a game and had some great sushi and other dishes. The Korean fried chicken was tasty, and the $1 individual sushi is a great way to try different sushis relatively risk free.
San Maru Korean Restaurant
We came during weekday lunchtime. The server was very friendly and attentive. I love their lunch specialāāmany options at fair prices. I ordered the beef soup. Rice was included. The food tastes like homemade dishes and not too salty.
I really enjoyed the pork bulgogi and ojingeo bokkeum (spicy stir-fried squid), but the flavor of the kimchi jjigae didnāt quite suit my taste.
China King
Very good food and definitely nice people and definitely recommend eating here!!!
The food and prices were great! It's nothing fancy in the dining area, but I believe most people get take-out. It's clean, and I will certainly go back again. Delicious!
The Wok Chinese Express
I stopped at The Wok Chinese Express during a recent trip, and it was a delightful surprise. Their crispy tofu was outstandingāperfectly cooked with a satisfying crunch on the outside and a soft, flavorful interior. The staff were polite, prompt, and very helpful, adding to the pleasant overall experience. Located just off the interstate, itās a convenient place to pause for a meal on a long drive. I highly recommend The Wok Chinese Express and will definitely visit again.
THE most disgusting Chinese food Iāve had. Orange chicken was swimming in liquid and not fresh and this was my lo mein. thick gummy noodles and chunks of grey meat with not a single veggie. I have to assume all of the reviews on here are fake bc I am not a picky eater but they were inedible. My eggrolls were some type of freezer burnt? Idk. Never again.
Mayflowers Chinese Restaurant
Carol was awesome!! Delicious food. She is the only one running the show, waitress, cook, she does it all. First time here and will be back for sure
Food was amazing and super fresh! The woman running everything by herself was absolutely awesome and is a very family safe place! I was not disappointed in anyway! I will definitely be coming back often.
