Ting Ho
I have eaten from here for years, but the last few years I have been a patron of a different chinese spot. I am SO thankful I found the OTHER spot. 30 minute wait and $42 later, I get burnt/cold crab rangoon, stale tasting mild sesame chicken that would burn the roof off of a house (I dont even know if it is really chicken), pork fried rice that could only be described as FLAVORLESS yellow rice with 2 pieces of pork and a cold over cooked DRY as hell egg roll. I'm NOT even going to torture my stomach and try my chicken noodle soup. In the garbage it all went..... RUN people .... RUN!! 🤢🤮
One of my favorite Places to eat I noticed they have more combo options on their menu compared to other Chinese spots. We ordered the Beef and broccoli. The broccoli was well cooked and the beef very tender. We please try the steamed pork dumplings delicious, the dumpling come with a great dipping sauce 😋
Takumi Sushi Ramen&Lounge
Literally my FAVORITE sushi place in the New Haven area and overall, just one of my all time favorite places to eat. This is the best and most affordable sushi. I love the sushi lunch. The price is great for soup and 2 rolls. The sushi is the best and my favorite! I’d eat here every day if I could.
This place was recommended by someone and I came with high expectations. But the food and ambiance are rather mediocre, not terrible but just not very good. Service was only so, so and that with an almost empty restaurant at lunchtime midweek.
Mẹcha Noodle Bar
I visited this restaurant over the weekend traveling from DC and I’m really glad I chose it. I’m usually not a dumpling person but you must try the red oil dumplings! They were packed with flavor and I honestly could’ve ate the whole plate whole. I’m still thinking about them. The ramen was pretty okay I wish the presentation was better and the taste was pretty alright. The service was also great super nice staff.
I just had pho at this place, and I have to say, the service was exceptional! From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming and attentive. They made sure my order was perfect and checked in on me regularly without being overbearing. The atmosphere was cozy, and they really made me feel at home. The food came out quickly, and the quality was top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming back for both the great food and the amazing service! Highly recommend!
Niu Sushi & Ramen
SUCH an amazing sushi experience!!!! We loved every second of it. First off, L who runs the place is AMAZING - so attentive, kind and friendly. Second, the sushi eating experience just wow. We decided to do the all you can eat which we definitely had big eyes for but the fish was so fresh and the rolls so creative. I mean look at that boat!! They also had great Gluten free options including tamari sauce. And L brought us mochi for dessert on the house which was so sweet! The atmosphere is also really cute for being right off the highway. Perfect sushi night, with even better people!! Thank you L❤️❤️❤️
Can't say enough good things about this place. My Gf and I are in town visiting and we were lucky to find this gem up the street from our hotel. First off, the service was amazing. Our waitress was so friendly and patient as we asked questions about the menu and about the all you can eat sushi options. There was obviously a lot of work that went into presentation when everything was brought to our table and our waitress was on top of everything. And the food- well above average. The spring rolls were literally the best I'd ever had. The chicken ramen was well above average. The sushi itself - some were great and some were just okay, but to be fair we had ordered a lot of things to try so it was a matter of personal preference and we'd ordered some things that may just not have been our cup of tea. Overall, really great value for $30 and even if we hadn't have done the all you can eat the menu had a lot that looked great and at reasonable prices. Well done Niu!
9 East Hibachi & Asian Kitchen
The entrees are to die for always delish and fresh. I've tried several different dishes each one as good as the last. I always enjoy 9 East
Sad when you go to this restaurant and the last times it was really good and this time so terrible! I was very disappointed. The chief needs to be retrained or the kitchen manager fired. Pork rice old, orange chicken dough tough could not chew it, spicy mango not spicy and cold, wasn’t sure there was any mango! The white rice was the only good dish on the table. Rangoon dough was tough and chewy, chicken lettuce wrap to much salt and dry. This was at lunch but not excusable. Bummed
Thai Smile
It’s hard to find a winner for taste, service and price. Thai Smile checks off all 3. We enjoyed pad see ew, appetizer and bubble tea. It was all tasty and served promptly. The place is small but clean and bright, and lunch ranges from $8-$10. Will definitely return next time in that area.
We've ordered from here several times already. Every time we try something new. The food is top notch quality. You can tell someone who knows what they're doing is running the kitchen. Delicious and authentic!
China Garden
A yo let me tell your something righ, I’ve been through many parts of America and have tried boneless spare ribs and this is the best spot to go to, Ya heard! Truck drivers bring your tractor for there’s spots out here to park at night to cop and go
We got: shrimp egg roll, crab rangoons, hot&sour soup, beef & broccoli, shrimp in garlic sauce, moo goo gai pan, shrimp lo mien, and general Tso’s chicken. It was all way WAY too sweet and otherwise flavorless. They used way too much cornstarch to thicken all the sauces; everything felt “goopy” The crab Rangoons were sweet enough to be desserts. The hot&sour soup was neither hot nor sour; it was cool&bland. My two teenage sons tried the beef & broccoli and said it wasn’t very good. Then they wouldn’t eat the shrimp&garlic sauce at all! We ate the moo goo gai pan, which was exactly as bland as it was supposed to be. That’s the dish hot sauce was made for. I ate the shrimp egg rolls, which were also bland but I wasn’t expecting much flavor to begin with. Everyone ate the General Tso’s chicken, but it too sweet and simultaneously bland. The place was clean and the service was pleasant
Lion City Chinese Restaurant
Worst Chinese I've ever had. Giving it an extra star since the service was good. Seriously BAD FOOD. The eggrolls are bland; it's like they have one ingredient in them. The crab rangoons- I had to throw them out after one bite! They were....grainy and slimey... like they were made with tiny bits of dry cottage cheese. The general tso should be a safe bet but no. The sauce is plainly okay (though it is very thick and gooey and they give you far too much of it) but the chicken they use has a thick, rubbery layer of bread and the chicken itself is sparce and dry. Definitely avoid this place.
Lion City has been there for many years - and offers a unique homemade sauce on their BBQ ribs. They offer standard Chinese food.. See photos. I think they make the best wonton soup around. The staff that works there is very pleasant, and Ming the owner will go out of his way to make you happy. Food is good.
El Buen Chapin Restaurant
Our party of two stopped in this quaint restaurant for dinner. We got the chips and guac (the best and freshest I’ve ever had -look at the color!) and split 2 birria tacos-the meats was so juicy and tender! They were just fabulous and the consume that accompanied it was so good I wanted to drink what was left. I had horchata for the first time which was wonderful-rice milk with almond and cinnamon. We capped off dinner with a shared lava cake which was rich and fudgey and a hot chocolate. I asked about the eloto hot beverage (made with corn!) and it was very tasty but not something I might order again. Will be back again for the grey, friendly service and fresh perfectly flavored and cooked food.
The best Pupusas in all Connecticut!!! Excellent Latin music and hospitality ❤️
Pho Thai
Hands down, some of the best food I’ve had recently! They use the freshest ingredients and make sure each dish is done the right way. The Thai Tea, Drunken noodles, fried rice was especially memorable. Must try! From appetizers to desserts, this restaurant exceeded all our expectations! The service was top-notch! The staff is friendly, attentive, and goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience.
I have to say I’m so impressed by Pho Thai! This hidden gem is right in plain sight on Orange Street. You HAVE to go on a Friday night when they do their braised lamb shank special - it’s by far the best lamb I’ve ever had in my life. It’s so tender and flavorful! It’s available for dine in only every Friday. We tried a variety of their most popular menu items and weren’t disappointed by any of them. The staff was very attentive with the food coming out quickly, and the restaurant had a nice vibe, especially near the coffee bar with some hanging, swaying chairs. We even had a couple lattes before we left and were impressed by the quality. I would definitely come back here!
Koon Thai Restaurant
There wasn't a wait when I walked in and service was beyond quicker that I expected. The coconut shrimp appetizer was absolutely delicious and the main course of Pad Thai I had was very filling. You can share a main course with someone which is what I did and still have leftovers. The food is very delicious and very affordable compared to other Asian eateries that I was nearby.
Food was delicious and the staff very polite and welcoming. Food came out quick and flavorful. Can't wait to be back in New Haven to stop in for a bite!
Pho Zaaap
Pho Zaaap in New Haven is a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Lao and Thai flavors! Having tried most Thai food in the States, I can confidently say that this place comes closest to what I've experienced in Thailand and Laos. The selection is fantastic, with each dish bursting with bold, fresh ingredients. They craft everything with quality and care, from rich, aromatic curries to perfectly seasoned noodle soups. The pho is the absolute ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ flavorful and perfectly balanced. The service at Phozaap is as welcoming as the food, making you feel like part of the family. You can tell they take real pride in every dish they serve. If you're after a spot that combines authentic, high-quality flavors with a down-to-earth, inviting atmosphere, this is the place you don’t want to miss!
Thai iced tea + crag rangoon + pho = heaven. Great service and super friendly.
