Sake Asian Fusion

Overall, a pretty underwhelming experience. The Summer Rolls lacked the freshness you’d expect, and while the sushi rolls were acceptable, they certainly weren’t good. The interior had a noticeable strip mall feel, which didn’t help the atmosphere. I was initially unsure if I was being overly critical, but the moment the sake arrived in white wine glasses, it confirmed that something was definitely off about this place. To top it all off, it’s kinda pricey. 2 stars is a gift.

I’ve loved sake since 2016. The people here are so friendly and polite, every time I dine in they’re so warm and welcoming. I’ve never had a bad experience here. The food is great (try the sweet potato tempura!) and better priced than other places in the area. Love this place!

Sonny’s Asian Grinders & More

I can rate as a FAIR the food wasn’t good but wasn’t bad either. Plenty parking , we arrive 5:00 pm said Hi no answer. The food can be great but staff make whole experience bad , food took like 35 min. We told the guy bring everything together include appetizer , he did the opposite. Appetizer pork egg rolls (4) My husband ordered bbq Korean and cheese grinder, me hibachi shrimp salad, kid chicken tenders and fries. Egg rolls small size less than my fingers $7 . Grinder was ok husband like it , wasn’t great but good . My salad was ok shrimp taste ok. Look like fresh salad . Sauces taste bad $52.00 include ice tea and 2 Thai ice tea. Husband get grinder first , so me and my kid wait 20-25 min after for get our food. The server apologize. Chicken and fries in my opinion was more great than our food, looked more delicious. My kid love it . Restaurant has potencial but need a little extra effort for employees. Food need improvement

Service is good food takes time but it's made fresh. Not much of an atmosphere but the Sonny who owns it is a great guy to chat with very knowledgeable on cooking. Can chat with the register person and other staff too. I've only ever been here when it isnt busy so I'm not sure how slow service can be. That said the food is PHENOMENAL absolutely love the food. Made well, packed with flavor, and the best seafood ingredients are used. The shrimp flavor is fresh and juicy. I got a tune poke bowl that was packed with fresh top notch tuna, not that dyed flavorless tuna. Prices are good considering quality

Shing Jet Restaurant

They played the brocoli & garlic sauce so full that liquid seeped out all over the bag, and the rest of the items. Be CAUTIOUS if using the business: they only accept cash, and there is one chair in the eating area that’s literally falling apart. Has nails sticking out a solid inch. Take a look before you sit. Pointed the chair out to three employees, all acknowledged me then left the broken chair out to be accidentally sat in. Save your money and go down the street, much better option just by CVS. Sadly won’t be returning.

Ordered the shrimp and broccoli combo with veggie fried rice. It was hands down amazing. I love a good fresh chinese take out place. The shrimp were a great size and super flavorful. I asked for mine spicy and the sauce was on point.

Cheong Hing Kitchen

Food is very good. Best in the area but they really need to remove all that messy storage from where the waiting area is. Seeing that mess is a turn off. If the front of the store looks like that what does the back look like? Other than that the food is great!

Ordered boneless ribs for my daughter and she couldn’t even eat it. It was all clear fat and very little pieces that were actually ribs. Will not be going back to this place!

Hashi Asian Cuisine

We went there on the weekend for lunch. Love the food and ambiance. We will definitely go back to this restaurant.

For a town the size of Derby that doesn’t have a lot of Asian options, this is a GREAT place to choose. They have a Chinese, Japanese, and Thai menu. My wife and I have tried a few of their options and we both agree, the sushi here is fantastic. It’s good quality, with a generous amount of seafood meat and little rice. Often times, restaurants try to fool you with affordable sushi by giving you a ton of rice. But here, they hook you up. The wonton soup here is excellent as is mosh of the Chinese dishes we tried. We are excited to try their Thai menu options in the future. Service was absolutely excellent. This place deserves way more dine in business than what they are getting.

Maggie McFly's | Southbury

I had such a delightful experience at Maggie McFly’s restaurant today! The atmosphere was fantastic with good vibes from the people around, delicious food that hit the spot, and just the right tunes playing in the background. The service was exceptional, especially thanks to Adan, our attentive and friendly waiter. The modern style of the restaurant added to the overall ambiance. I must say, the food was not only great but consistently impressive across multiple visits. While my rating would be a solid 9 out of 10, it does vary depending on what you order from the menu. The chefs really know how to deliver! Additionally, I appreciated the ample parking space, including the thoughtful allocation for disabilities. Overall, Maggie McFly’s exceeded my expectations, making it a go-to spot for a wonderful dining experience.

We decided to go out for a family dinner last night "5" of us and it was our first time there so we were taking a gamble but boy did it pay off. The food was outstanding standing and prices were very fair considering today's economy but most of all our waiter was awesome! By far the best waiter I've ever had the pleasure of being served by. I believe his name was "Jacob"? The very polite gentleman with the long hair. By far the best! Always asked if we needed anything at all. That Man deserves a very good salary and great tips as the service he gives will keep us and others coming back for sure. Thank you to all staff for a wonderful dining experience. Arthur Tooth

Samui Thai Cuisine

Food was excellent. They were really busy with takeout orders and it seemed there were only two people working the back so it took a bit of time to get our food. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem but we were trying to catch a show at the movie theater down the street, and we cut it very close. I will definitely be going again, and if eating in I’ll just budget more time.

After some shopping in the area, my mom and I were craving Thai and decided to try a new place. When we opened the menu, we were super excited to discover Samui is the sister restaurant to our usual go-to, Bangkok Room in Ansonia! We were met with the same quality in food and service that we know and love. The beef pan fried and the pad Thai were delicious. I will definitely return when I find myself in the area wanting Thai!

Man oh man… this spot…. this RED SAUCE… THE SAUCE!!!!! My wife are posting this in the car in the parking lot of the restaurant simply because I’m too blown away and too full to drive yet hahaha. The food here is and was too good to even describe please check out the pictures!

Cozy place with crazy amazing fantastic food! You will not be disappointed. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The pizza is out of this world. A must try.

Cheng Square

One of the better spots for Chinese food in the area. Good wonton chips with duck sauce to start, and they have a great variety on their menu. The food is a little more on the greasy and salty side, but overall it’s good. Our server was friendly and attentive. Good option for dining in or takeout.

Whether you dine in or take out, in my experience the food is always good (although I think it is more pleasant to eat in). Last time I dined the food was piping hot and they gave us free fried noodles and sauce to start. The waitress also seemed very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend for sure!

Highland Garden

I had not had Chinese takeout in a while,so I ordered from here. We ordered the vegetable fried rice with an order of fried chicken wings. The rice was good, but the peas 🫛 were all frozen, also the texture of the rice felt like they didn't fry it, but only boiled it. The wings were very good and crispy, however the price was $10.00 for six wings. I wasn't happy with the price! 😞

The first time I followed reviews and I'm disappointed. I started off with an eggroll as they're my fav. I know if I don't like it I'm not going to like the food. The eggroll was bigger than typical eggrolls. The texture was off. Instead of crunchy and was tough on the outside and hard to bite. As if it was baked or something instead of frued. The filling was okay maybe i would've liked it fried longer. The rice was definitely not fried. No oil, no flavor, as if it was booked. The chicken was the best thing I had but still not the greatest. I spent about $75 and I regret it. Will definitely not order again. I guess I recommend for someone looking for a not fried healthier version of Chinese food.

New Moon Chinese Restaurant

Sauce was a tad bit bland. I got extra sauce. The ribs were tender and juicy, just wish sauce was a-little better. Pork fried rice was tasty . Egg roll, portion and price was also good!!

This was always our favorite take out Chinese between Waterbury and surrounding towns. No other New Moon location in the area or other Chinese takeout could compare to the tasty general tsaos, crab Rangoon, fried rice, and other food. When we got takeout about 6 months ago, it was still the same excellent food. We got it twice in the last few weeks and it has been subpar. They changed the general tsaos to the point my husband was disgusted of the taste to where he had to go drink something to get the taste out. The crab Rangoon weeks ago was not the same quality and taste, nor is the fried rice good. I know they raised their prices, as did everyone else due to increased cost. I would rather pay just a little extra for the same quality food rather than pay a higher cost and get Chinese food no better than the other take out Chinese in the area. We're highly disappointed. We really hope you change the way you make your food back to how you used to make it earlier this year, and the years previously.

Minami Sushi

180reviews

Minami is my closest all you can eat sushi spot, and I couldn’t be happier! A great variety of Japanese, Chinese, and Thai dishes in addition to all of the sushi. Everything was great quality and delicious! Friendly staff and the restaurant was very clean. We will definitely return!

I must say, this place is totally fantastic. I will most definitely be coming back here. The food was plated beautifully, and the atmosphere was bustling and friendly. Though, my soup spoon had a giant crack in it and I couldn’t eat my food properly. Other than that though, it was delicious.
