New Star Chinese Restaurant
We ordered here because our favorite Chinese restaurant was closed. After paying 85 dollars for the absolute worst meal I have ever eaten in my life, I have decided that we will never, and I mean never, order from here again. I ordered chicken lo mean. It was absolute tasteless. The few pieces of chicken that were in this dish were rubbery with no flavor at all. This place prides itself on the 5 pounds of spaghetti noodles and rice for the rice dishes thinking that this will appease their customers. Never again. They are also open 7 days per week. No reset day. This is disgusting, and further underscores why the food is so bland and disgusting. If it is Tuesday, and Forst Garden is closed for their reset, do yourself a favor and pay the extra money to order from Mr. Is or Ja Mai in Madison.
I was going to give this place 2 stars because it was the only Chinese place that delivered in the 3 neighboring towns-but, they recently took that feature away. I placed a big order tonight. Egg food Yung, beef and broccoli, chicken lo mien, chicken cashews, bbq chicken sticks, fried dumplings and I think ,something else it doesn't matter. So to start..the egg thing...(see photo)...we asked for no vegetables but that request was completely ignored. You couldnt even taste egg. It just looked so unappealing and it had no taste accept for the onion chunks. Just completely overpowered with onions. The fried dumplings were only half fried. The chicken in the chicken lo mein was rubbery and there was barely any chicken just a bowl of noodles. The bbq chicken sticks were mostly fat. The worst was the beef and broccoli ( see photo). Freaking grey colored meat. Flavorless and honestly didn't even look like real meat. And in today's world unfortunately that's a thing, so,...never going here again. I would not recommend anyone else wasting their money either. $70 down the drain. So pissed. It's completely unacceptable when everything is so expensive and restaurants want to charge up the a$$ these days...then they have zero room for error. SOOO obviously we called to say what happened, and they said we could DRIVE 15mins back there to have them redo the beef and broccoli since we didn't touch that yet, and for the other meals, since we had tasted ( and I mean we didn't eat even a quarter of any of the portions) the food they couldn't do anything but offer us ONE FREE EGG ROLL. Are u serious? First of all, you know the restaurant is a low class place if they ask you to bring back the food. Or they give you a hard time because there was a bite out of something... One egg roll?? And why would I want to have you remake anything you wasted my time and money on in the first place. We only had ordered once before and only gave them another shot because they used to deliver. Once they broke the news it was already late and my family was hungry so we took a risk. Never again New Star..never again. Completely low class place with poor quality food and/or fake food and management from the Twilight Zone. The only reason it's still in business is because Madison and Guilford are deprived of any decent restaurants..so the towns folk are used to mediocre, sub-par dining experiences.
Flavors of Nawab Restaurant & Banquet Hall
This was our first time trying an Indian restaurant specializing in Hyderabad cuisine, and Flavors of Nawab did not disappoint. We went early on a Sunday evening and sampled a mix of street foods, classic dishes, and their signature chicken biryani. Everything was flavorful, with highlights like the perfectly cooked tandoori chicken and the paneer and cheese dumplings. A great find on the Berlin Turnpike!
Went here for the buffet on Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t as crowded when we reached. They did have a good number of variety of food including pani puri, chai( which was very good and homely) , juices, kebab, chili chicken, chicken tandoori, pakoda and so on. We saw they also served falooda and tried that as well. It was after a long time we got to have it and enjoyed it.
Tan Po Po Wallingford
This review is long overdue. These people know me by name already haha. I know it’s been a while but I think about this place faithfully. The lunch special is the best in the state and the special rolls are made special per order. This place does not disappoint not one bit. Love it and them.
Exceptional dining experience! The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Generous portions and excellent value. I left full and satisfied. Will definitely be back.
Sirinan's Thai & Japanese Restaurant - BYOB
Picked up our food and was greeted by such a friendly smile! The gentleman at the counter was warm and inviting, the table of dining elephants at the back was absolutely ADORABLE! The food was amazing, the peanut sauce and Thai iced coffee were the best I have ever had. The fresh spring rolls were perfect. Absolutely coming back again and again!
Stumbled on this place on the drive from Boston to New York and we're so glad we decided to stop here! The food was delicious and the owners were very nice and helpful. There's also a ton of elephants! The whole back of the store is filled with tons of stuffed elephants and figurines and other cool stuff for sale and for very reasonable prices.
Iron Chef
These shrimp aren’t deveined, unclean and I didn’t eat this or none of the meat or veggies in this particular bowl. This is literally shrimp feces they want me to intake? I was totally disappointed. I will never eat here again.
I’ve ordered takeout from Iron Chef many times and have never been disappointed! The hibachi meal is always incredible and the sushi is amazzzzing. If you’re in the area I would highly recommend stopping in! Posting a picture of my sushi for tonight (spicy tuna, spicy salmon, California roll + Kani salad)
Sushi Palace
One of the better bang for your buck ayce sushi places with a decent selection of items to choose from on the menu.Started with a kani salad and seaweed salad both were fairly refreshing and pallet opening for what came next .The sushi was fresh with a good rice to filling ratio with a few unique rolls and chef creations .Tempura only had a few to choose from but still very tasty with a nice crunch especially the shrimp and the veggies.Grilled items were decent and flavorful but the squid was a bit tough .The beef udon soup was amazingly good and highly recommended order. Come hungry and try everything , we came between lunch and dinner perfect time before the dinner crowds packed the place. Thanks
Honestly the best Sushi place in CT. I have never been to one that beats the quality of your food and the pricing. Believe me i have searched EVERYWHERE. This place will always be my go to! 10/10
Lucky
We used to love lucky, but their food has gone downhill:( General tso chicken has about 2 pieces of chicken in the entire meal. Beef sticks were so tough and chewy we couldnt eat them… Fried wontons & golden fingers are OK
BEST PLACE TO GET CHINESE FOOD JUST MAKE SURE YOU DON'T FORGET TO BRING CASH... THAT'S ALL THEY ACCEPT!!! (I order them well done)
Sono Bana Japanese Restaurant
This is our favorite sushi in the area. After we moved, we're too far out for delivery, but we'll still often choose to pick up here over getting delivery from elsewhere. That is a testament to this restaurant because we can be pretty lazy. The spider roll is my fave.
Very reasonable pricing, very generous portions of very good sushi. I really liked the volcano roll, the different tunas. Quiet, friendly atmosphere. I think it's a good sign when you see Japanese people eating at a Japanese restaurant.
KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot
CJ was an excellent host and all the items were great quality. It can be overwhelming to have both the hotpot (which costs about $5.99 extra) and the BBQ. The sauce table had a lot of items like fried rice, crab leg, and crawfish. This place is great for large groups and the staff do an excellent job of replenishing broth and changing the grills.
I recently visited here with a friend, and we both had a fantastic time! It was our first experience at an all-you-can-eat restaurant, and it didn’t disappoint. The food was great, with plenty of variety to choose from. A special shoutout goes to our waitress, Tiffany, who made our visit even more enjoyable. She was incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed and providing excellent service throughout our meal. Her friendliness truly made the experience memorable. If you're looking for a place with great food and outstanding service, Here is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend it!!
Diner's Haven
Excellent meal and service! I especially love that they give the crispy crunchy noodles with duck sauce as a free welcome appetizer! 20 years ago those were standard with all Chinese to go orders, but that seems to have been phased out of most places, so it was such a welcome surprise! The crab rangoons are stuffed to the brim and are incredible! A must get. We will definitely be back.
Our first visit to this recently re-done and newly managed restaurant. We were impressed with both the food and the ambiance. Everything was delicious
Bangkok Boulevard
WOW! Tried first time, I was amazed at how beautiful my dish was. Very fancy for low price. Garlic fried rice was amazing! Fantastic Thai iced tea. I'll go back for sure!
High quality food. Allow customized meals, gluten free upon request. Delicious and satisfying. Really enjoy the drunken noodles with a little spuce. Salmon fresh and large portions.
Sakura Garden
It’s taken me 10 years to talk my husband into giving this restaurant a try. Its location (at the end of a strip mall anchored by Hamden’s supermarket for poor people) made him suspicious. And when you’re eating raw fish, you want to be confident in the quality of your food. Despite the somewhat shady location, it’s a totally different experience once you step inside. There’s a little pond with fish and turtles in it, some fake glowing cherry blossom trees (fun fact: that’s what “Sakura” means in Japanese), and a circle-shaped bar that all contribute to much better ambiance than you would expect in the price rite plaza. I’m only giving it four stars for ambiance though because a) my husband was weirded out by the fake fish on the wall in the bar area that he had to look at during the whole meal and b) the hibachi section is noisy and full of kids crying, people screaming, etc. If they could isolate the hibachi section a little better, it would be a more pleasant dining experience for everyone else. Everything we ate was outstanding (including the “outstanding roll” - my husband’s favorite). Service was absolutely perfect - better than I’ve had in fancier restaurants. For example, we ordered a bunch of stuff including a couple soups. He asked if we want the soup first or everything as it’s ready. I really appreciate that. Too many times at other places they’ll give us our entrees before our starters arrive. I find that so annoying and it ruins the meal. Anyhow, excellent food, perfect service, and surprisingly nice vibe inside (if you can ignore the loud hibachi people and fake fish mounted on walls).
Server only once came to our table to drop off our initial drinks. Never came back again. We ordered hibachi and never got our soup our our salad either. Also noticed s forced 10% tip, I always leave 20% (and we did regardless of the poor service). Just thought it was a little shady.
