Pine Garden Restaurant
I’m obsessed with this place. The food is always wonderful with great service. I always get the combo and I always have leftovers.
I've gotten Togo twice from here. Very kind people! My great grandma would be happy that I found a good togo Chinese place so close to home! Salt and pepper tofu is one of THE BEST I've ever had. Please don't change this recipe. The crisp, the FLAVOR, wow. 10/10 Beef chow fun is always a go-to, huge portion and lots of flavor. 10/10 Crab puffs are good for the price with how many you get String green beans are good! I wish I could find a place that put minced pork and preserved spicy radish in it. Still one of my favorite dishes. General Tao's was good but not my go-to dish. Ordered it for my husband. Prawns with lobster sauce is ok. I tried the prawns in black bean sauce last time, I liked that better. I think I'm looking for something too specific. I had a dish in Louisiana that was crawfish in lobster sauce and the sauce was a dark brown, very flavorful, lots of onion, had black beans too. I can't find that here (not expecting crawfish but I'd like the same sauce) I think they mix the two together? Not sure but I'll be doing some research to find the exact sauce! Overall WOW this place is really good, affordable, and has huge portions!
Ocean Star Chinese Food
Some of the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. I was thinking of going to Taco Bell across the street, but honestly price vs nutrition, I decided on Ocean Star. I got the tofu lo mein and really enjoyed the tofu and noodles! The guy working was friendly. Fine portion for me for the price (cheapest meal in the entire pod). Vegetarians and vegans will most likely enjoy :)
Ordered Crab Rangoons and Chicken fried rice, the crab rangoons were good I’d give those a 4/5, the chicken fried rice was delicious I love when bean sprouts are included in the rice 4.5/5
New Happy Fortune | Chinese Restaurant
I think I've found my new fave Chinese takeout spot in Portland! New Happy Fortune is an awesome, unassuming, 'hole-in-the-wall' restaurant that has HUGE portions for great prices. I had the "U Pick" 1 entree + 3 sides meal. With Mandarin chicken as my entree, and my sides: 4 crab puffs, orange chicken, and steamed rice (All for $15.95) The platter it was served on was basically the size of my head, and the portions were piled high! It is a great meal to split with 2, maybe 3 people. I stopped by for my lunch after working at the high school nearby and had to take home a full to-go box (gonna be my dinner for later!) The chicken was super crispy and flavorful, and I highly recommend trying the Mandarin chicken! I'm definitely coming back again!
Fast service, fresh+delicious, one of the things that can turn a bad day around. Google will not let me post the video of steam rising up from my lemon chicken, but here is a photo. It was perfect, crispy and flavorful. Thanks for being here New Happy.
Steam Rice Roll King 一哥肠粉王
Everyone leaving negative reviews not based on the food...we found out when we went two nights ago that this place has only been open for 4 months! Let's cut them some slack. The food is fantastic. They stone grind their own rice flour in the kitchen. It makes the texture of the rice rolls incredibly silky, stretchy, bouncy (order from the stone ground menu). Never ever been to a restaurant that served Cheung fun that did that themselves! This is the real deal and y'all need to try it if you like this dish. The owners/staff are so friendly and when we went, service was very quick, though we were there during a week night when it was slower. The fresh, hot soy milk was so warming and pleasant on a chilly, rainy night(and free!). We will be back and we will take our whole family so we can try more dishes 😁
I loved everything about this place! The authentic food truly captures hometown flavors. It's disheartening to see others leave low reviews that have nothing to do with the food itself. We should be respectful of the hard work that goes into crafting quality dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant for its exceptional food! It's definitely worth a bit of a drive to get there. I appreciate all the effort behind the scenes—it deserves a 5-star review!
Happy Dragon Chinese Restaurant
I was here for a friend's birthday, I got to taste at least eight dishes. Everything was very well prepared, everything tasted great. This is a family run restaurant, and they care a lot about their guests experience. The atmosphere is a classic Chinese restaurant, brightly lit with beautiful brocade covers on all of the chairs. The food and service is the main focus here, and I will definitely be back soon.
Great Peking duck. It comes with 2 courses: the crispy skin w/ steamed buns then duck stir fry w/ lettuce wraps. Both are fantastic. The Chinese broccoli and pork lo mein were both well made sides. We want to go back and try the crab special. P.s. If you don't read Chinese, use translate apps to read the special board.
Canton Kitchen Chinese Cuisine
I came to this food cart due to seeing it was 5 stars and because I was craving some beef broccoli. I can say my craving was well met! We ended up ordering 3 combos with some drinks as shown in the picture. We also bought the sesame pancake as well. I was surprised to see the egg rolls and the wontons with the order. I'm not sure if it was with the combo or not, but either way we enjoyed it! The gentleman working was patient and helpful. The amount of food given was perfect! I ended up having left overs to take to work as well. Would i go back? Yes! Thank you Canton Kitchen Chinese Cuisine for the work meal and filling my cravings!
I called to place an order at 7:19, and they close at 7:30, and they happily took my order! When I went to pick up, they were just finishing it up. All the food was perfect! I ordered the Mapo Tofu extra hot, and then she even warned me when she gave me the food that it is hot, and I was! She even brought the food to my car! I highly recommend this place! They even gave us extra appetizers!
Fortune BBQ Noodle House
The food was fantastic!! And the service was great. I love that they give you hot tea first thing if you’re dining in lol. If I’m ever back in Portland, I definitely plan on making it back here!
The noodle soup doesn't come with wonton, so it costs extra to add it. The bowl of noodles itself was a small serving for the cost, and the amount of roasted pork we got in it was also minimal. The broth was seafood-y, I didn't care for it. They provide soy sauce, vinegar, white pepper, and chili oil. We also ordered beef brisket and roast duck with rice, and I also don't think it's worth $17. The duck had decent flavor, but the brisket wasn't flavorful. I don't think we'll actually come back.
The Essence of China
I had the strangest experience here. Walked into an empty restaurant save for one family. The hostess just seemed really surprised I wanted to eat there. I am Asian, she was Caucasian. It wasn't negative but just like... Being surprised to have a customer. That said, I did not enjoy the food. Menu options were limited and from the 1980s. Sweet and sour soup had way more corn starch in it than it should have. Vegetables and noodles were overcooked. Seasoning was flavorless Place was clean though!
Love the Fish filet in General Toas sauce. The fish is so tender, and the flavorful sauce is a perfect match on the dish. Also, like the taste on the shrimp and lobster sauce, this is a dish that you don't want to judge the book by its cover. Presentation was dull and starchy, but the flavor was good. Our most recent visit, we decided to try new dishes, but it was really bad or did the cook just have a bad day? Egg flower soup was watery. Steam rice looks like overnight rice and lukewarm. The honey walnut shrimp was not as good. Will stay away for awhile.
Golden Taste
We’ve never eaten in the actual restaurant but takeout has yet to disappoint! They are always very friendly upon pick up and happy to assist in trying to decide what to order. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. Always enough for leftovers the next day. The only dish we haven’t been thrilled about was the Kung Pao Chicken. Just didn’t end up being our favorite. The House Special Lo Mein is fantastic. So yummy!
The food was fine. Nothing to complain about, really, or to go crazy for. I would say a 3.5 as it was clean, nice people, and fine food. My biggest complaint would be their sides for their combinations. They vary greatly! If you pay extra, you get four pieces of fried shrimp, which is nothing - especially compared to many other similar restaurants. And, if you order the side of spring roll you get one pre-made cheap bagged spring roll. The rest was fine.
Golden Dynasty
6 stars. I came here for a late dinner with my sister at 9:30pm and i got orange chicken with steamed rice and it was so good. portions were really generous. the vibe of the restaurant was also really nice it was quiet and cozy inside. I finished my food but i was really full so full i don’t think i could eat for days. i highly recommend you come here
Price and quantity were good, but the Mongolian beef was a little chewy with no vegetables. Fried rice is also simple, egg and rice, but good. I have had the chicken before though and really liked it
Wan Lung Restaurant
👍👍For $16.75, this is definitely the place to come for a value! I had one of their Combo dishes that had both the vegetable lo-mein and BBQ fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, fried prawns (shrimp), and soup [I had the egg drop] and hot tea. Everything was super quick and hot. I liked how they put the S/s sauce down as a base on a separate plate and set the chicken on top of that so it wasn't soggy. Even the fried prawns were pretty large, so it wasn't just all batter caked up to make it look larger...that was mostly shrimp! I was able to get thru the soup, shrimp, some FR/lo-mein, and a third of S/S chicken before I had to throw in the towel🤣 It was just as good the next day too, as most Chinese food is 😉
Hands down the BEST Chinese food I’ve ever had. The service is amazing, portion sizes are out of this world and the food is absolutely scrumptious. You will have plenty of leftovers but still want to come back again and again! I had the family combo with amazing hot and sour soup (so homemade!) and orange chicken (delicious); but the kung pao chicken is beyond compare. Do yourself a favor hand try it!
Frank's Noodle House Beaverton
We got a variety of dishes but the egg fried rice stood out as the best: perfect balance of green onion & egg, slightly salted, mild flavor, and very quick to come to the table. The service was outstanding - food came out within 5 minutes of ordering. Servers were on it, space was clean, and pricing was decent.
I’ve been here previously for a team lunch, and I could not forget the scrumptious shrimp with the sticky sweet coating. I was also feeling under the weather so went for kimchi fried rice for some heat. Food arrived promptly piping hot - service was quick and so was the check out. Perfect pace for weekday meal. Would love to be back for beef soup with hand pulled noodles before summer heat kicks in.
