China One
Not sure how to rate. I wanted to order something different from a different Chinese restaurant so I order the chicken chow mein. I’m not sure if what I ordered is chow mein. I know it’s not lo mein but I thought it for sure would be a thin fried crispy noodle, however I didn’t see any crispy noodles, just chicken, onions and bean spourts in a clear sauce. Honestly I think they forgot the crispy noodles. It taste ok not great but I’m not sure this is what I ordered. The place was clean and empty. It came with wonton soup rice and egg roll so a lot for less than $9. Not sure I will be back. Please comment if this is chow mein and I will edit this review. In response to the reply from China One. I know what I order. I order chow mein. I know the what lo mein is and I know what chow mei fun is as well. This was slimy, nasty and there was no crispy noodle. The rice was not good either.
The food was discusting we couldn't finish anything that we tried! The chicken was pink all the veggies that were suppose to be cooked weren't they were hard the hibachi cook didn't know what he was doing none of our food got fully cooked so once again hard veggies! The noodles were over cooked and mushy, their cheese was was cheese flavored water cheese shouldn't run off your chips or make your chips soggy, we tried their jello and it stuck to the top of our mouths and their ice cream was extremely over sweet like they added a whole container of chocolate syrup! Everything was just nasty I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy I say go up the street to Legand of Asia! They are trying to cut corners with their food to make their money back from the renovations they made to the resturant
Jade Dragon Express
I ordered pickup. The food was being finished up as I arrived so it was hot when it was handed over. Smelled delicious! Took it back to the apartment and my grandson and I chowed down and really enjoyed it. Very tasty!
The food is absolute garbage. The chicken was tuff, rice was nasty. Definitely not worth $15
Ming Garden
My go-to Chinese spot! Food is always fresh and piping hot. And the most important thing is the great prices! You can’t beat them. If you’re looking for an affordable and quality Chinese spot Ming garden is the place!
I’ve had a LoT of really BAD Chinese food all over the metro. Ming Garden is awesome. We’ve eaten at Ming Garden 3 times and it was very good every time. The restaurant is small and not fancy, but their food is among the best in KC. We will be back even though it’s 45 minutes away.
Peking Chinese Restaurant
Great place for some quick chinese. Came in there to ask for some chicken fried rice. Guy knocked it out super fast. Grabbed an ice-cold soda from the fridge and called it a day. Very nice guys, small place, but nice.
The food was fresh and so flavorful. I decided to take my daughter here for dinner. I'm so glad we did. I had the orange chicken, and she had the peking duck. As well as a few other things. All very good.
Lucky Dragon Chinese Restaurant
I always order via postmates, so can't attest to the atmosphere. Food is great, but the takeout containers always blow out the bottom. Haven't had this issue elsewhere, don't know if simply unlucky.
During lunch hours they have a Buffet the food is always fresh and plenty of variety of food. They are priced very reasonable. I try to go there as often as I can
Bo’s Kitchen KC
Visited Bo's this weekend and the updated look and feel of the concept is great. Going in you're greeted with the kitchen and registers. The space is very clean and has a nice little dining area on the right side of the building. Food was prepared very quickly. The bowls are actually pretty perfectly sized (for me) so we tried the sesame and ginger chickens along with the crab rangoons. Price was very reasonable for the food and it's nice to have a solid chinese restaurant in the market again. Looking forward to going back
I have been here twice now to order a few different things. The sesame chicken is phenomenal! I love that it was huge chunks of all white meat and not extra breaded dark meat like you typically get in Chinese establishments. The next time I got the sweet and sour chicken. The sauce was quite tasty and the chicken was super crunchy. It wasn't a typical smooth breaded like you normally see, but rather a panko style super crunchy breading. The only disappointing part is that it does not come with bell peppers despite a picture of it in their menu. The employee said they need to update that picture. The place was clean, the staff is friendly, and the portions were good size. I really love that the menu is limited, this way I don't have to argue with myself over what to eat because of so many options. One thing I don't like is having to type in my phone number at the kiosk when ordering. I don't like giving out my phone number if at all possible because we all know what will happen once our number is out there. Another small issue I had was when the employee brought out food, it was only for my spouse. I had to wait another 5 minutes before my meal came out. Meals should arrive together or within a few seconds so the other person is not having to wait and allow their food to get cold. Finally, I would say the only aspect I really am uncomfortable with is what I see in other restaurants too. The ordering screen has a tip option when you go to pay and it starts with a recommended 20%. It comes up really big and the worker behind the counter is watching so they can see if you tip or not. I am sorry but I don't like being prompted to tip when it is the kind of eating establishment that does not typically require tipping. I ordered the food myself, typed it in, got my own drink, and never waited on a waiter other than to be brought my food like 20 feet away. To me this should not warrant a tip. The restaurant itself needs to be paying employees a living wage and not relying on guests to pay even more in tips. In all it was a good experience and I would return.
Oriental Garden
Was just ok. Food was served on paper plates and takeout containers. Had only one person out front so service was a little slow. Take out diners were priority. Seems backwards to me. I would take care of the customers who took the time to dine in. Anyway, it wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special. I had the General Tso's. It wasn't very spicy at all. Good, but not spicy. Crab Rangoon was ok. The wanton wrappers were quit a bit thicker than most places. Tasted like frozen and fried instead of handmade in house. Still wasn't bad.
We are from out of town and thought we would gamble on the OG. Was delightful, fresh tasting, and quiet. Seem they have a lot of togo business. Walked in, and I thought maybe this was a mistake ( we was looking for a buffet), but it wasn't available, idk?? I'm glad we stayed. Hunan Chicken was very good, spicy! Fried Pork Dumplings were good, oil must be really fresh, and you taste the pork. Wife said here Sweet and Sour Chicken tasted good as well. The same goes for their Egg Rolls, so good tasting, not an oily taste. The Lady's inside were friendly and nice.
Bo Lings
My husband and I used to eat here years ago and we loved it but boy has the quality of the food gone down hill since we moved away ten years ago. The wontons in the wonton soup were very undercooked and gummy and were pretty much inedible. The lettuce wraps had absolutely no flavor and I had to practically drown it soy sauce just so I could force it down.
When I called on Mother's Day, they said it would be a 45 mi but when we arrived 5 mins later, it was a 20 min wait. I assume they said that to discourage people from comming. Apparently there are 2 kinds of menus, the dim sum menu is what we were given, which only has pucs and the name of the dish, no ingredients or descriptors. No other option until we asked. And at that rate, the menu was slightly unclear, but not un-navagable. The waitress just seemed very annoyed, and just kept repeating "dim sum" when I asked what that is 3 or 4 times. Food was good tho
New Peking
Food was great, a little sweeter than I expected but it was good. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the food.
Can't beat it. The portions meet the price and then some, service is quick and frequent. Every time I've dined in, it's been the same guy waiting my table and he is fast, polite, and efficient. The food is hot and delicious, best Chinese restaurant in the Metro.
Chinatown Express
I HAVE EATEN AT THIS RESTAURANT ON MARCH 30th 2025 AND WAS HOSPITALIZED MARTH MONDAY 31ST FOR A WEEK THE FOOD NOWADAYS THAT YOU ARE GETTING FROM THIS RESTAURANT ARE THEY REALLY FRESH FOOD ARE THEY REALLY FRESH VEGGIES ARE THEY JUST BEING LEFT OUT YOU SEE I GOT FOOD POISONING SO YOU HAVE TO BE REALLY CAREFUL WHAT RESTAURANT YOU GOING TO CHOOSE TO EAT AT NOT ALL RESTAURANTS ARE GOING TO HAVE FRESH VEGGIES OR FRESH PRODUCE IF I COULD I GIVE IT A ZERO STARS NOT EVEN A ONE-STAR AND THAT WOULD BE MY LAST TIME EATING THERE I WOULD NOT EAT THERE ANYMORE
Me and my family have been going to this place for 20+ years classic Chinese takeout. Highly recommend the Chicken & Broccoli in garlic sauce
China Chef
I got egg fried rice which was like the perfect combination of sauces so it wasn't bland, and some wonton soup which was also super good. They wait wasn't horrible and everything was really fresh I definitely recommend. Staff was super nice too.
This is my & my partner's favorite spot for Chinese food. We always get the dinner combos - such great pricing and one always comes with enough food for two meals. The food is soo good, comes out quickly, and service is friendly & welcoming. Amazing local spot, if you live nearby then it should definitely be your go-to!
Heritage by Bo Lings
Bo Lings recently rebranded/restyled their plaza location. We’ve been coming here for several decades and the food is always good quality and definitely some of the best Chinese in the KC area. For this visit we had a large party of 21 for our Grandmother’s 86th birthday, we had one of the private rooms with 2 large tables, which was perfect for our group. The staff was impeccable including Daniel who we have always had and takes great care of us, as well as Joseph. Despite the large party our food was delivered in timely manner and nothing went missing! Overall fantastic dining experience and we love the new updates!
Still the best Chinese food in town. Thank you Richard NG for bringing excellent and authentic Chinese food to a hungry Kansas City for over four decades. You continue to set the standard that all others must try to achieve.
