Lucky Wok
This place has great reviews, so we tried it. It has a large selection and great service, but it doesn't compare to Bo Lings or Fortune Wok. It's on par with Yummy Chinese.
The food is great. Prices are great. Lunch specials are only $7.95 and runs from 11am to 3pm. Food is done fast. Some seating indoors but mostly seems to be known for takeout. Staff are hard working and nice and the place is always busy with people picking up take out orders. I really enjoyed vegetables and lightly fried tofu with garlic sauce and broccoli. They made it with a perfect sauce that was flavorful with real garlic and didn’t include starch and gelatin like some places add. Plenty of parking in this strip mall where Lucky Wok is located.
China King
If you're looking for a traditional divey strip mall date spot, this is your Chinese restaurant. It doesn't get more divey than this - with frosted bamboo stalk pattern windows, your traditional backlit plastic menu board, and little tiny red booths with glass koi fish dividers for extra privacy. I've done takeout from here mostly And see lots of Uber Eats come through Only one or two tables sat every time I've come in So it's definitely a quiet spot. They don't take AMEX, and they love cash. No bells or whistles, but the food is good. Nothing fancy all exactly made as you'd expect.
The food is better than China 88 the other easy carry out Chinese restaurant in town. Food is always great and lot! They use their phone line for the Internet they said ?? so after not telling me anything on the phone, when I went in one time, she told me that I couldn’t pay with a debit card because I had a certain amount and the internet deal..? Made no sense. But I went in a different time and she got rude that I want to use a debit card for just one order again. So bring cash or don’t order just one item unless you want to get snipped at. They also told me 35 to 40 minutes just for this one dish today, seems like a long time for one thing and that she didn’t even ask my name and hung up. Ordered chicken and vegetables, and it came with this brown sauce… It was pretty bland, but it was all right… Last time it came with a nice pleasant white “clearishsauce”
Aikou Chinese Restaurant
Aikou is hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. My family and I have been going to this restaurant for years. I wanted to touch on a couple of notes, the quality of the food being first. I have never had a bad meal at Aikou. Their fried rice is top-tier, especially the combination fried rice. My favorites include generals chicken, combination fried rice, egg drop soup and the crab rangoons. The portion sizes are MASSIVE which is well-appreciated. 10/10. The price of the food is absolutely fair for how much you get. The atmosphere is lax and casual. It is a family-owned restaurant. I have watched the owners children grow up and it’s nice to have that familiarity. I even moved away for 3 years and came back and they still remembered me. That’s service. Do yourself a favor and give them a try!
The food is generally really good, but it’s a real bummer when you were looking forward to a delicious meal and the food falls short.
Dragon Inn
I stopped in for lunch. The food was good and the quality was better than most of the other Chinese restaurants in town. The lunch special is a great deal. Very inexpensive.
Went a couple weeks ago. Great setting and atmosphere here. Staff were very friendly, our server very very quick and a bit caught off guard when we didn't just speak our orders at him, but asked how he was doing; probably used to people not being too chatty. Loved going here on a date, and my dad's recommendation from coming here years ago. The food was good. Got General Tso's chicken and vegetable lo mein. The food was good, but it was the kind of good you find at a Chinese buffet, which is to say that it seemed to have substituted a lot of nuanced and diverse flavors of traditional Chinese food for the kinda of cooking that just makes everything really tasty, but the same. The crab rangoons were very good! All in all, give it a shot. Definitely worth it. It's located in a cute little town area that's great for walking around in.
China Rose Chinese Restaurant
I consider this mostly a take-out restaurant. There is a dine-in space and you will be served with take out utensils. The egg fooyong is great. You can also request them to customize your sauce to your taste. Serving is good for two people with free rice-really good deal for your money.
This is some of the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had and trust me when I say I’ve had a lot of bad Chinese food. the orange chicken was so overcooked and dry but the worst part was the fried jumbo shrimp appetizer that was $8.95. Look at the picture. They were so overcooked all breading they were not even edible. I could buy 50 of these from Walmart . These were frozen and I can buy these for $11 and they charge me 8.95 for six tiny overcooked tasteless shrimp.
China Garden
We were pleasantly greeted immediately. The food was great! The Szechuan chicken was spicy and full of flavor! The Hot & Sour soup was well balanced. The lunch serving was plenty. The atmosphere leans towards take out, however, there's plenty of seating to dine in if that's your preference.
The pricing is great, the food is okay (you do get a decent amount for what you pay for). Egg drop soup has been consistently bad, don't get it. I'm not sure why but the last few times I've gotten it, it has had an off taste to it. Employees are great and super nice, I'll still come back because of the decent pricing.
Yummy Chinese
Some of the best hot and sour soup I've had in a long time, rice and orange chicken were delicious too, and it wasn only $23 for two entrees and drinks!
Travelling from Colorado we made a stop here. They don't have a big dine-in area, as you can see from my photos only 2 sides of dining area and table is very narrow. But I cared less for the dining cause the food was awesome 👌 it taste really good... the fried wanton was yummy...
Sichuan Dynasty
Sichuan Dynasty in Overland Park is hands down the best Chinese food spot in the Kansas City metro. Every dish we tried was packed with bold, authentic flavors, and the experience exceeded all expectations. The highlight of the meal was, without a doubt, the cumin lamb. Perfectly cooked and bursting with aromatic spices, it was rich, tender, and completely unforgettable. It’s a dish that alone makes this place worth the visit. We also ordered a variety of other dishes, and each one delivered. The crab Rangoon had the perfect crispy texture and creamy, flavorful filling. The Sichuan spicy wontons were tender, with an addictive, fiery sauce that brought just the right kick. The beef with cilantro and peppers was fresh, savory, and balanced, while the chicken wings were fried to perfection—crispy and juicy in every bite. Even the wonton soup impressed with its warm, flavorful broth and perfectly wrapped wontons. To round it out, the stir-fried green beans were simply amazing: crisp, garlicky, and bursting with flavor. Sichuan Dynasty’s portions are generous, the menu is extensive, and the flavors are unmatched. Whether you’re a fan of spicy Sichuan cuisine or simply looking for the best Chinese food in town, this is the place to go. The cumin lamb alone will keep me coming back, but every dish proves that Sichuan Dynasty is a true hidden gem. Five stars all the way—do yourself a favor and try it.
I've FINALLY found my go to Chinese restaurant after 4yrs of trying most of KC Chinese food! Pro's: Egg drop soup is drinkably delicious and the chips are really tasty, Milk and Honey shrimp 🍤 is excellent and better than Panda's Honey walnut shrimp, Chicken fried rice has a grilled flavor instead of skillet flavor and it's fantastic, Szechuan dumplings are really tasty and worth the try, Dan Dan noodles are really good too! Con's: Like any fast food restaurant consistency of quality is a hit or miss regarding the "freshness" of the food. It's not bad per-sé but you know when it's fresh or a little older than you'd like. Also the Dan Dan noodles need more sauce because they were pretty dry but what little sauce it had was delicious! Conclusion: I've been to many Chinese restaurants in KC and have been mostly disappointed but even with this place's flaws it still hits harder than the MAJORITY of Chinese restaurants in KC, therefore earning my attention and should earn yours too!
Panda Express
We had a late lunch at this Panda Express. The food was excellent as always. Didn’t like the tea though. Kung Pao Chicken and prawn were best among the dishes we tasted during this lunch. The people at the counter and kitchen were very helpful, and full of smiles. They were patient and even suggested dishes when we were uncertain what to order. The restaurant had plenty of space on that Saturday afternoon around 2 pm or so. And as I mentioned, we spent quite a while at the counter asking for recommendation and finally choosing our dishes. Plenty of parking space as well at the front.
Ever since the restaurant changed mgmt, there is a new guy there who has been giving out very small portions on the entrees. This is what I got for a panda bowl with pepper steak. The food did taste good, but all I got was 5 tiny pieces of steak. They used to give out bigger portions. No longer worth it for me to come here. Will try a different location next time.
Bo Lings
This had to be one of the most healing meals I have ever had, full stop. I woke up with a sinus infection and was having a really bad day until I stopped here for lunch, and ever since then, I’ve been walking on air. The General Tso’s chicken is decadent. House Jasmine tea was smooth, floral, and aromatic. The egg drop soup was warm and filling. I came here during lunch and the service was wonderful. Waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful. I will definitely be coming back!
The restaurant is very beautiful. The food came out pretty fast and I enjoyed my order of Beijing Beef. The service was excellent as we had a courteous server, we were even given to go drink cups that we didn’t ask for. I will go back to this restaurant to try another menu item.
JOY WOK Super Buffet - Overland Park
Amazing buffet. The sushi and sashimi is Japanese level and for 25-30 per person, I would pay that much just for the sushi. There is also a large selection of food, hibachi (i was so impressed), Pho, and of course crab legs on weekends. This buffet was amazing and I will be back often.
This Chinese buffet is one of the better buffets I’ve ate at in the Kansas City metro area. My family and I ate here on New Year’s Day 2025. The restaurant wasn’t busy. This Chinese buffet had a large variety of different options but not too much to where you can’t try everything. I tried white rice, steamed asparagus, green beens, sushi, roast beef, fruit, cheesecake, ice cream. The prices were reasonable. I would definitely go back. The location was in a nice area on metcalf Ave.
Chinese Garden Restaurant
This is a reliable place for tasty take out Chinese food. The Crab Rangoon had more filling than most places and was very good as well as their Egg Drop Soup. The pork fried rice was very good as well. The beef and broccoli did not get rave reviews from the family...one said Hy-Vee's Chinese beef and broccoli tastes the same.
It's decent. Good price and quality my kids go for general tso chicken I tried triple delight crav Rangoon is good my bf don't like Chinese but he enjoys their chicken fried rice
