Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
I hate to give negative reviews, but this one is just unavoidable. A take-out order of chicken chow mein was quite possibly the worst I've ever eaten. Upon opening the container, one could clearly see two different colors of noodles. The darker noodles had some flavor, but the lighter colored noodles had almost no flavor. Even worse, the lighter noodles had the texture of overcooked, soggy spaghetti. Absolutely terrible. ☹️
We were in the area and we stoped by to get lunch however it wasn’t great. I ordered chicken teriyaki with sauce on the side, chicken was drenched in sauce couldn’t even eat more than 5 bites. We got a plate Mongolian bowl it was super salty my husband didn’t even eat it. I ordered the drunken chicken noodles. These noodles were very dry no flavor at all! It was disgusting to be honest. Wouldn’t dine again at all.
Panda Express
I went here over half an hour before closing. Not only had they emptied out all the food pans except for 2. They didn't even come over to ask if I wanted to order, just stood in the back. I get doing some cleaning before close. But people should still be able to get food 40 minutes out.
Chicken Kung Pao not edible, just gristle and fatty parts AND small PIECES OF BONE! When I told them they said that's how they get it, so that's how they serve it!!! I told them to remove it before someone breaks a tooth or chokes on it! They got defensive! Also all the food was super greasy and others were complaining about that!
China Chef
Wonderful, quaint place with fresh delicious food! We shared the Fried Dumplings, House Fried Rice and Lemon Chicken. Lots of flavor, generous portions just enough for two (maybe 3 but we were hungry... hahaha) Definitely will be back when in La Jolla... just a short walk from our favorite hotel too.
The food is edible but totally bland and eminently forgettable, if abundant. We ordered egg rolls that were dry and tasteless, but crispy. The crust was the best part. We also ordered shrimp fried rice, which lacked seasoning and required generous applications of soy sauce or sweet and sour sauce for any flavor at all, but had a goodly number of shrimp. Our "spicy" Kung Pao shrimp had a few peppers in it, but totally lacked spiciness. We won't return. Bland, bland, bland.
Panda Express
Brand new location, I’ve been a couple times and it’s extremely clean and the employees are all nice and proactive. Shout out to Joseph who went above and beyond to take care of my order and ensure everything was up to standard and I was taken care of. I can tell the team here is thoughtful and I will be back specifically because of the team here - great customer service makes a difference and it’s great to see a chain restaurant take that to heart!
For some reason this panda seems like a training ground for employees. This means that the service is incredibly slow, they have gotten my order in person wrong 2 out of 5 times which is astonishingly high for a couple service food. They also seem to leave there food out longer than most other pandas in the nearby area. Overall food taste old and they take way to long.
Chinese Kitchen (King Bistro)
When we entered there wasn’t anyone, and tbh the restaurant’s design looked a little bare… it almost looked like it wasn’t doing well. When the food came, my entire family (with three kids) loved it. We were here for lunch and ordered noodles, and I could just say it’s comfort in my belly. Tho they took our order wrongly and served us an extra bowl of noodle (and we paid for it), we took it bcos we wanted to try something else from the menu. A senior lady (I suppose she’s the one who cooked the dishes) came out and asked if everything was alright, and even gave us a free bottle of drink. Oh, there was also a small crowd also flowed in during our meal as well. Would recommend!
Haven't been here since the place seems to be a younger and hippieer place, however, the food attracted me to bring the family here. It's called a "bistro", it's a little bit like a bar with real food. When we arrived at about 8pm on a Friday night, the place was almost full, with a couple of bigger parties. They serve Kirin on tab, you can order in like a table side keg with pour, it looks like at least a couple gallons. They serve Chinese style skewers/kabob, with spicy or mild tastes. These are made to order, freshly charcoal grilled, great for drinking. They also serve Chinese hot pot, that's what I will try next time. They also have a few other dishes, like fried rice, some noodle dishes, and Mantis shrimp, pepper and salt style, best you can get in San Diego. The services maybe something they can tighten up a bit. They were friendly and attentive enough, however, since it was busy, they did forget one of our hot soy milk drink. Overall, a great place to relax and enjoy the evening.
Cha Cha Tea Spot
I get overwhelmed when a place has so many options for food and I don’t know what to order. While we were waiting for chicken next door, we got an almond milk tea and Vietnamese coffee. I can’t find many places with almond flavor and order it any chance we get. It was a tad bit sweet but great flavor. I can’t say the same about the coffee. That wasn’t on the menu but she said could make it so I guess she tried her best.
I rather go here for takeout than any other! We're hooked. The gentleman that took our order was friendly and helpful. I couldn't remember what I ate the last time, but once I described it, he knew. It was the Singapore style noodles that came with shrimp, beef, and veggies. My son got the salt and pepper wings, and I had to try them. They were delicious! Crispy! We also got the orange chicken. Highly recommend.
Panda Express
Panda is one of the few fast food Chinese restaurants remaining in my neighborhood. I only go there when I don’t have time to make the trek to the Convoy Asian Cultural District and I’ve just “gotta have” my wanting and Chinese food fix. In the future, maybe I should just order it intravenously, because the flavors and freshness were definitely NOT there this May Day (1st of May). I ordered an “easy” to please two-entree plate with orange chicken, broccoli beef, and noodles. Basic fare, right? One would expect these entrees to be spot on, since they are the Panda’s flagship dishes. Wow, was I disappointed. Yes, they were takeout and it took me 10 minutes or so to get home with my meal, but the coating on the chicken was gummy and lacked the intense flavors of the sweet orange battling the vinegary tang that makes this dish so very good… sometimes. The broccoli beef was similarly lackluster with overcooked broccoli, not enough onion, and grissly, tough beef. I hoped that the lo mein noodles might save the day, but the batch mine was drawn from had spent too long sentenced to steam table prison. Gummy noodles are the bane of bad lo mein. (Sorry, didn’t mean to rhyme.) On the bright side, the wait staff was very crisp and on the ball. They handled the light crowd masterfully and had me in and out and on my way in under 10 minutes. Very good presence and focus, as well as good customer service. Nice! The store was very clean and presentable as well. Fix the food, and I’ll be back. I promise!
I ordered foods via UberEats. The items I paid for were missing because they did not give them to the driver. But, they ended up saying that they cannot send the missing foods, and lied that it is driver’s fault. I was with the driver talking to them on the phone. They earlier said they would bring the missing foods to me, but then changed as they said I need to go pick up the foods (lol - such a non-sense). It is because they have to charge the driver for it happened because of their mistake. They have serious moral and crime-level issue; guiltifying the driver and not delivering stuff were paid for. I am sure that they will go bankrupt and close the store in a year. They never say sorry.
Panda Express
It was December 4, 2024 and my wedding was to be December 5, the very next day. The caterer my husband and I picked fell through and we were left with less than 24 hours to figure out what we could do. We went over the possible restaurants which could help us with catering without breaking our now non-existent budget since we had not yet gotten our refund from our previous caterer and will not for the next seven days. My husband suggested Panda Express catering, at this location, since it was very close to our wedding venue, and we love the food. We ordered the food after hours on the Panda Express mobile App, which was very stressful because the poor workers were not aware of such a huge order ahead of time. I can only imagine the looks on their faces and curses uttered when the employees went into work that day, December 5, 2024, only to see a catering order to be placed. I have had many times when I say, "I should have called out," and I would not blame the employees if that was what was said. The morning of, however, there were no problems or complaints from the employees when they called my husband to ask what accommodations we needed (plates, forks, chopsticks, napkins, etc), and when my husband informed them of the family members who will be picking up the catering, the employees made it easy. So, to everyone who made my wedding day an easy process, for coming through for my husband and I on the most important day of our lives, THANK YOU!!! The only issue was, I should have listened to my husband and ordered more orange chicken because those dishes went FAST!! Thank you so much again!!!
They have become very stingy with the food servings. I ordered the bigger plate and my plate was so light even the chow main was half full and the beef broccoli was only broccoli couldn’t find one piece of beef. The prices have gone up and the servings are way smaller.
Yummy House
The food is absolutely delicious and truly authentic Northern Chinese cuisine, highly recommend!
The food and service were decent, nothing to complain about. However, parking was a bit of a challenge. Just something to keep in mind if you're planning a visit.
Taste of Hong Kong
We went here for the first time tonight on Christmas. We were easily able to make reservations this morning around 8:30 for a 5:30 sitting. So if you're going on a holiday, make sure you make the reservations. When we got there it was already kind of full because it's a very small restaurant but there were people who were waiting because they hadn't made reservations and they were on a wait list and it seemed like they were there for a while. However, we went in and we were seated within seconds. It took a while for us to order because I think they were not paying any attention to us. I don't know. However, the lady that took our order is the same lady that was trying to bust tables and be the hostess so I don't know why the others weren't doing as much as she was. We got the three combo barbecue special with Hong Kong roasted duck, Macao roasted pork and some kind of chicken. My husband was the one who wanted the chicken. I didn't like it that much. It didn't have much flavor and it was kind of dry. The duck was really good but fatty but you know it's duck so I don't blame the restaurant for that. The skin on it was really crispy. And the pork was chef's kiss. Really delicious and crispy. We also ordered the shrimp with garlic and chili which was the most amazing dish that we had while we were there and I will go back there over and over for it. The shrimp were like big prawns, not just large shrimp. And they were fried perfectly and they were tender and juicy and it was almost like a salt and pepper shrimp. I keep thinking about it even though we've been home for a few hours now. We also ordered the salt and pepper chicken and my daughter thinks that they tasted sweet but I think it tasted Smokey. I don't know it was really good but it was a much different taste than for instance if you were getting it from Royal Mandarin. And then my mother-in-law got chicken and vegetables and that was really delicious. Very tender and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. Our combo plate came out within about 2 minutes of us ordering it. So fast that we thought it wasn't even ours at first. And the other dishes came out pretty quickly except for the shrimp that took a while but we had all the other stuff to eat. Even under the Christmas pressure, the food was excellent and came out really fast. Please note: when you first get there, they put a hot tea on your table. THAT TEA IS NOT FREE! It's $2 per person and it's just charged automatically. You have to let them know you don't want it and then you have to also check your receipt because they just automatically charge it. Also prices on tonight's menu are higher than they are online so I don't know if it's for the holiday or what.
Fast service, extensive and authentic menu, very clean restaurant. The fresh steamed fish was absolutely stunning, tender and caught just the night before and brought to the restaurant that morning. It tasted just that fresh and three chef treated it with utmost respect as there was a very light sauce with scallions and ginger and that was all it needed. The tofu and fish hot pot was tender and delicious. The snow pea leaves were crisp and cooked just to tender. The garlic chili shrimp were very generously sized crisp from the fryer and doused super generously with red and green chilies and at least a handful of garlic. And the orange wagyu was decadent meat candy in the original Chinese style of orange beef, redolent with chili and fruit. My parents had been here once before and liked it enough to come again, as it had made a great impression on them and they were born on the Mainland.
Little Chef Chinese Take-Out (Ocean Beach)
The reviews on this place were so mixed. But I decided to go for it and order takeout anyways. And wow! So fresh! Entree was a huge portion (for 2 people) and the fried rice was nice and moist. Not dry like Panda Express. The wontons were fresh and crispy. Honestly the food was great quality! They even put extra sauces in the bag for me! And two fortune cookies, utensils and napkins!
DO NOT BELIEVE THE HATERS THIS FOOD IS INCREDIBLE I was a little hesitant to eat here because some of the reviews, but I thought I would give it a try. And, I am so glad I did. I got the Kung Pao chicken with steamed rice and it was delicious. Hot and spicy in just the right way and even came with a fortune cookie that actually gave me a fortune. The house made hot mustard was also awesome. Worth noting that this place is no longer cash only and accepts online orders, but there is an ATM right outside if you want to help out a small business.
Panda Express
Ordered beef and brocs last night and this is what I got. Mostly brocs and barely any beef. Double check your order or else you’ll be disappointed when you get home.
Stoped at the Panda Express on are way back from the beach the staff were very nice and moved the line fast the restaurant was very quiet and clean the food was as I expected for a panda
