Chung Hing
Cash only! Luckily I had cash on me that day. I wanted shrimp lomein for lunch so I googled it when I was in the area. What I got was not shrimp lomein (lunch combo #12). It was quite bland shrimp stir fry with celery and bean sprouts over fried wonton skins. The chow mein and fried rice were plain too. The lunch was cheap and I think maybe that's why it has all these great reviews. Food was not good. A lot of people were ordering the #1 combo with the char sui (bbq pork) so maybe I should have ordered that instead. The two older Asian ladies working there were nice and friendly to me. They were quick getting everyone's orders ready and the customers all seemed happy.
I ordered #4 to go and unfortunately I was not looking when the lady was putting the food in my to go box. When I got back to work and opened there was no pork. The #4 supposed to have roast pork, egg roll, lo mei. And fried rice. Not a good experience specially that I drive 15 mins to get it and I am not driving back to get my pork so basically I wasted $13 for no meat food!
Chin's Szechwan - La Jolla
I was skeptical about a "great" Chinese spot in La Jolla, but Chin's delivered in a serious way. The service was very slow to take our order, but once we got started, the service was great the rest of the night. The staff was warm and inviting, and they made sure we had everything we needed. We got the pan fried pork potstickers (solid - more dough-y than I prefer), tangerine beef (a little too fruit-forward with the glaze), Szechwan crispy pork (delicious), ku ting shrimp (a hit across the table) and spicy honey & sesame chicken (the crowd favorite of the night). Not pictured: crispy wontons and seafood fried rice (the table liked both). The space is small, but the portions are HUGE. Four of us were eating, and we took home at least half of three entrees. I'd love to return to try more savory dishes...and hopefully more veggies. Well done, Chin's!
Their food is great. Their spicy scale is 1 to 5 and the 5 is hot, I was not disappointed. Their chicken wings are delish. Be prepared to wait. It is a small dining area and very popular. take out order is a wait as well. They are not fast, but they hustle and it is worth it.
Mandarin House
This place has been my go-to Chinese restaurant for 30+ years. It’s so good and. Orbing has changed (in a good way)! The portions are huge; the flavors are delicious; they don’t skimp on the meat/don’t use a bunch of filler veggies; and the service is always so friendly and quick. I just love this place!
Dropped in for lunch. We heard this place can be busy. Lunch is a good time to go. Food was amazing! Better than expected. Thought we would have leftovers, but could not stop eating. Highly recommended. Nelson, GO BLUE
Village Kitchen家湘味
The sour and Spicy shredded potato was just so-so. The flavor was plain. I would not recommend it. The Chicken intestines and hunan stir fried pork are really spicy. They are good along with white rice. BUT they are BOTH SALTY. Really salty. You have to drink lots of water. Many people have recommended this Chinese restaurant and they think this is the best Chinese restaurant in San Diego. If so, I would say maybe Chinese restaurants here are less competitive than I expected. Or maybe three dishes is a small sample size. We need to try more dishes to have a fair review
I had 4 dishes all very salty. I’ll not plan to come back again ever. Only shrimp fry rice that we can eat not too much salty.
Ma's House
Just wow experience! I try to locate the authentic chinese halal places across the US and this was a hit. The location sign is dimly lit and hard to find but once you enter the restaurant they welcome you with a smile. Great Hospitality, helped me out with menu options. Here is the item specific feedback Pan Fried Dumplings were great. Goes well with the soy sauce Triple fried curry rice - More on the spicy side and I really liked it Jalapeno Sliced Chicken - The sauces in this was amazing. Highly recommended Noodle Soup - First time trying noodle soup and the broth was awesome Garlic Chicken with Jalapenos - Fried variation of the sliced chicken. Again Awesome. The sauce is spicy and tangy
Found this gem when I was trying to find halal spots in SD. The food was so gooood! Like besides being halal, this was one of the best Chinese spots I've tried. I'll definitely be going again. Also prices were great for the portions.
China Quick Wok
Wow wow. I’ve been getting take out from Quick Wok for years now and their food remains so delicious. Please support this small business if you’re ever craving great Chinese food. Seriously I’m writing this as I’m eating because I wanted to express gratitude for the chef. 10/10 food quality.
I just discovered this place. I ordered war won ton soup and they made it even though it’s not on the menu. It was so good! For $16 I got two war won ton soups and fried “chips” with sweet and sour sauce. It was SO good!!
Sunny Dumpling House - San Diego 小哥包子铺
Super fresh, great dumplings with traditional fillings. The staff really loves what they do. The pork and shrimp Xiao loong bao has big chunks of fresh shrimp. The chicken and mushroom bao were plump and juicy. The boiled pork and garlic chive dumplings had lovely chewy skins and lots of juicy meat and plenty of garlic chives in them. They served them to us fresh from the pot. So very good. There is red chili oil, black vinegar, and soy sauce available. We were lucky enough to get to see the staff at their lunch, too.
Hell yeah Having a bad day? Coming here So good So chill Eat here, then do your groceries Get a box of 9 egg n chives Then order more, go home and freeze egg n chives Pig ears are rather tasty as well
San Wo Chinese Restaurant
This is a no fuss, no influencer gimmicks, just good food type of Chinese restaurant. I mean really good food. I used to live in the Clairemont area 5 years ago and would eat here frequently, but I moved away and had it again this weekend. And let me tell you--I ate the best duck wonton soup ever. It was everything I remembered Sam Woo to be. Too many restaurants have fallen to changing their menu and interior decoration to follow trends and losing out on good flavors. I'll go to Sam Woo for life if they don't change a thing!!
I ordered delivery from Hungry Panda, and this is my first time to try this restaurant out. It was beyond my expectations. The roasted duck is so delicious and flavorful!! Highly recommend this dish. I also loved a daikon beef tendon dish it was super larger portion, with a reasonable price. The fried rice is very large optioned and yummy too, I loved the sweet sausage inside. The red bean & mung bean drink is tasty as well.
Phoenix food boutique
Ordered a few mochi. They are okay not great the fillings are too little. The concept of this place is confusing: It sells desserts, drinks and also savory old dishes. probably better focus on making one type of food great rather than making and selling all types of food.
Terrific durian roll!!
Sieu Sieu BBQ Noodle House (小小燒臘)
We went there today to get Whole Roasted Duck. We had them chop up and box. When we got home, open the box, almost half of the duck were missing. What in the box was not the “whole” duck! Where’re the rest of it?!? We can only assume, while we distracted, they chopped and boxed up in the back, their people didnt put all our duck meat in the box. For over $35+tax and tip, this place Really suck! We got ripped off in the end….
Meats are cold As a Asian tasted really Cantonese cuisine, Roasted duck is ok, roasted belly is bad.
Mandarin Wok Restaurant
I was in disbelief that gluten free Chinese food actually existed. I have enviously watched my family consume Chinese and could not partake so many times in the past. I ordered the orange chicken and beef broccoli and was impressed with the taste of both. The restaurant was clean and beautifully decorated. A lovely family run business and you can taste the love inside of each bite.
If you have a Gluten allergy, then this should be the only Chinese restaurant you go to. Their Gluten Free food is beyond amazing. Almost anything can be prepared to be Gluten Free, so you won't have to worry about no options and the flavor profile brings the same punch the regular Gluten version has. I'm basic, but the Orange Chicken & Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings and some of the best I've had in San Diego. Please stop by and give this place a try.
Spicy Noodle
Stopped in for a bite to eat on the way home from San Diego Airport- after dropping off the family I needed some comfort food that wouldn’t be totally unhealthy. What a great find! This is really authentic Chinese food and I was so pleased with the quality and layered flavors. The service was outstanding. The lunchtime diners were also friendly. My server was great and giving me suggestions because this isn’t American-Chinese fare, so no sweet & sour pork combos. Don’t let that stop you because the place packs a tasty punch! I had some of the best sautéed cabbage ever and I am of heritages that have an international monopoly on cabbage cuisines. I followed with a spicy 🌶️ dumpling dish and steamed rice. 🍚 I left full and satisfied. The fact that the owner was wearing a Tshirt in honor of veterans made the whole, impromptu stop even better. So glad Google maps helped me find the place. I definitely recommend this lovely spot for a yummy meal.
This is an excellent spot for Sichuan comfort foods. Whenever I crave that numbing spice flavor, I come here and eat Chongqing noodles. The restaurant is very meticulous with the details and it shows in all the enhancements of flavor and texture. It's a family-owned restaurant and the owner is very involved and also just so personable. And parking is easy here. Good spot overall.
