China Wok
Really, really good vegetarian dishes. The General Tso's Tofu was absolutely killer. Also Vegetables in Hot Garlic sauce was delicious. I was able to sub a veggie roll for the free egg roll promo as well; the staff were accommodating. Delivery was faster than expected as well.
Hands down the best Chinese food in Madison. My son and I have been patrons of this fine establishment for more than a decade. Our favorites are Chicken Lo Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Beef and Broccoli and their amazing Chicken Fried Rice! All excellent meals! I cannot even recommend them enough! You must try China Wok right NOW! You will not regret it!
Chili King
Welcoming place. It faces a busy street and doesn't have a parking lot; I found curbside parking behind the establishment on one of the side streets nearby. I enjoyed my dish and thought it had a very authentic taste and preparation (reminiscent of spicy Hunan cuisine). The owner is helpful and explains English/Chinese translations of the dishes. Most dishes besides appetizers are $10 and up but they offer large portions for the price. Will come again!
So good and authentic! Highly recommend this place. It is spicy, but in a good way!
A8 China
The food is delicious and the price is very affordable. It is a very good party experience and I will continue to place large party orders.
My friends and I order from A8 China almost every time we are craving Chinese food. I had originally heard of this restaurant from my work place a couple of years ago and have been recommending them ever since. I have had nothing but great experiences with this restaurant. I've never dined in, but delivery is always quick and they're always incredibly friendly when I come to pick up. The food is always hot, delicious, and the portion sizes are excellent. The chicken is tender and doesn't have any gristle, which is something I've experienced with other restaurants. Plus, again, they do NOT skimp on any of the food! Every now and then, they won't have a specific drink if you order online, but they always substitute it for something else. A lot of the times, they'll include a drink with your delivery as a curtesy! I can't express how much I truly enjoy ordering from here and I highly recommend it if you haven't tried them yet. :)
Madison Cuisine
Ordered right before closing, but the food was still decent. Definitely American Chinese food with a ton of oil. I liked the coconut shrimp and peanut chicken. The peanut chicken has a very light flavor of peanut. Again, everything was very oily. Customer service was below average. They couldn't get my debit card to process. Just paid with cash. They gave me 85% lo mein and 15% of the two entrees. Not super impressed. I would recommend trying other Chinese American Madison restaurants over this one.
The food here is real good, but depending on how late you go the choices start to get pretty limited because they aren't willing to make another batch (hence the four star rating). Otherwise it's a good cheap Chinese place. I'd recommend the Mei Fun noodles and the Honey Chicken.
Chang Jiang
We ordered $50 worth of food and it was awful!! I ordered spicy chicken not spicy! Crab Rangoon taste like it was fried in old grease. My veggie roll tasted like a cabbage roll! Just a waste of food and money.
Well, this is heavily sauced Chinese food! Which I like. Madisons Chinese food scene is either authentic and greasy or Hyvee and dry. This place is a nice change. Reminds me of my middle American hometown saucey goodness. I did get their Szechuan tofu - it was a level 1-2, but a little too spicy for me. The tofu was a soft tofu, which I thought was unique and yummy. But if you're not sure you like tofu soft, talk with them. I also like the sautéed veggies with lo main: so good.
Chang Jiang
Perhaps my favorite place to get Chinese takeout ever. Always kind and reliable, no frills but I always look forward to eating here. Love the beef with broccoli!
Got both wonton soup and fried wontons. Both dishes had shockingly little filling for the wontons, making the meal little more than fried or slightly under-cooked dough. Extremely disappointed.
Dragon City
In an era of online ordering and everything being digitized, I still consistently get the best, quickest, and easiest service calling into Dragon City. Like, I've timed it before and I've had calls for 4+ people that last under 45 seconds. Every order is accurate and absolutely packed to the brim with food.
Got a lunch special chicken Lo Mein. Generous serving and came with a pork/egg roll. I wasn't a fan of the Lo Mein unfortunately, but I think the overall speed of service, portion sizes, and reasonable prices help balance things out somewhat. The staff greeted me in a welcoming and friendly manner. There were chairs to sit on while waiting for the order to complete. Be aware that seating for dine-in does not appear to be an option, at least during lunch hours.
Hy-Vee Chinese
I was in Lane 7 to checkout. Did not even say hello. I said hello to her. She said PAPER OR PLASTIC? I stated plastic. Please put the sugar by itself. Thank you. There was no response from the young guy bagging. Him and tge cashier were joking between themselves. Not much interaction with customers prior to even me. The bagger left the groceries on the labr. Didn't put them in the cart while I was paying. I had 2 bags. No worries. I will try not to come to the checkout while these 2 are working. If I was a big shot working for HyVee. I would have fired them on the spot for disrespect and not even a smile.
Hong Kong Station
Words can’t express my extreme frustration and anger with this restaurant. Arrived at 11:50, placed order for 4 entrees, paid in cash, there was no food came to our table at all. I started questioning them at 12:20 why there wasn’t any food, and the guy finally gave me two of them, while the other two entrees were still no show at 12:45. My family all hungry and angry at this point, I asked for a refund for the other two items, the guy initially was very reluctant to give me my money back and still told me they were working on it. The only orders they were working on were the to-go, that was it!!! Finally I got the money back and ate McDonald’s. Your time is worth more than waiting for them, what they should have done at the first place was not to take so many orders and remind people there is a long wait, like any other restaurant would have done. What a joke and I would never be back. Ever. Not an apology for the whole experience by the way, they didn’t care. Picture of all the customers and to-go orders waiting for their foods.
I would say their food is definitely nice, a little bit pricy, but definitely delicious. It is probably one of the best (or even, the best) Chinese restaurant you can find in Madison. The Taiwan Beef Noodle and their meat platters, or meat over rice, is amazing. I haven't try other menu yet, but they offer a variety of selection. But, as other said, there is some issue with this place as well, in their service is pretty bad, and their attitude can be intimidating sometime (well, they don't ask for tip, maybe that's why), and food can be slow, and hygenine is not great. Still, food is good, and I would rate them 4/5 overall.
Panda Express
Great food! Sometimes you might have to wait because it's a popular spot but that's very much to be expected– you'd have to be a pretty unreasonable person to think otherwise! Employees are very hard workers, especially Madison and Eve.
Workers were nice and food came quick. I don’t normally leave reviews but the orange chicken was so BUNZ (bad) Like genuinely just made me wanna cry.
Chinatown Kitchen
4/8/25 It was 4:00 PM, a quiet time: buffet filled, good food, nobody to bother. Was five (5) stars. BUT ... The cashier had a cold and kept sneezing all over instead of staying home. NOW, It's 9:00 PM, and my turn to be sneezing. Result: 1 (one star)!!!
This was the first time I have been to this restaurant in 20 years, because i had moved away from the area. They pretty much got rid of most of the indoor seating for fresh ordering & only have seating for the buffet area. I got my order to go, & it was good tasting food still hot even though i had a little ways to drive to give some to my wife & kids. There are 3 parking spots on the back reserved for this restaurant customers without charge, free parking anywhere during the weekend. Otherwise it's paid parking during the weekdays.
Hong Kong King buffet
Our new go to place in Berlin! Really good food and huge portions. Our waitress was the sweetest young woman and very attentive. It's clean with comfortsble seats in the booths and plenty of table seating also. Nice relaxed atmosphere .
The food is always VERY good every time we've ordered from there. Also clean and friendly. Definitely worth it.
