The best chinese food on the southside as far as I'm concerned. The price is very reasonable and they use fresh quality ingredients. It's primarily a carry out store, but they do have seating if you would like to eat in. They do not have a fancy looking dining room, but it's clean and the food will keep you coming back. Generally if you call in your order it will be ready in 15 mins by the time you get there. If your ordering a dinner item after 3pm it's way more than one person can eat. One dinner item $10 to $15 will feed two easily.

Roast Pork Egg Roll ( 1 count) x3 $7.17 For the amount they charge for each individual Egg Roll. They should put more roast pork meat in it. It’s filled with normal egg roll veggies stuffing. Plus tiny diced roast pork in it. The ratio is probably 5% roast pork and 95% veggies stuffing. Might as well be a veggie egg roll with that ratio. You can barely taste the roast pork in it. The veggies aren’t seasoned also. Fried wonton (10 count) $6.25 Don’t waste your money ordering this on their menu. I ordered it thinking it’ll be cream cheese stuffed wonton like all other Chinese restaurants I’ve been to. But nope, it’s literally just fried wonton wraps. It was pretty disappointing when I received the food. It’s just oily friend wonton wraps. Beef Fried Rice Quart $10.85 The fried rice itself has no flavor. It just tastes like oil. The beef is gray and tasteless. It’ll be nice if they seasoned the beef and cover it in cornstarch. And cook it before adding the rice so it’ll have a nice texture and flavor. Teriyaki Chicken on a stick ( 4 count) $8.99 This was one of the best teriyaki chicken I’ve had in a long time! It was moist, hot, fresh and full of flavor. With everything on my order, this is the best one. I’ll definitely order this again if I ever do decide to return. Overall the food needs a lot more attention and flavor. Food like the fried wonton needs descriptions and details. So customer knows what they’re ordering. I gave 5 stars on service because they were fast and all the food came out fresh, hot and still steaming. Even after a 10 minute drive it was still hot when it arrived.

The buns were so good that I still think about them a year later! This spot, located in Saraga, is truly authentic. mainly a to-go place, though they do have some seating. The food was hot, flavorful, and served quickly, all at a great price. We also picked up a few things to take home to snack on.

i am Chinese just have a lunch today, this place is doing very well, Great taste just like Chinese Food, highly recommend, will try again for sure. 肉夹馍i will try next time

Impressively large quantities of food, when buying their inexpensive lunch plates. The dining area is clean, but not attractive; and the interior lacks public restrooms. Bottom line: If you are looking for lots of good Chinese food at a low price, then this place will be hard to beat.

I went around to several Chinese carryout to look for fried rice. The lady at the desk took my order with no problem. I've never had fried rice with vegetables. I opened the box and it was fragrent. It was delicious! I later ordered it without Napa. Doesn't change the flavor. Still delicious 😋. This family restaurant is a hidden gem!

This is perfect chinese food- had the orange chicken and lo mein and they were both flavorful and came out hot. The orange chicken was EXCEPTIONAL. Portions are large. Can't reccomend enough!!

This is the best Chinese take out you can get. Everything is hot and freshly made, if you get something that's supposed to be crispy, it's actually crispy every time. Generous portions, well cooked, delicious. I come here 2-3 times a week and have been for like 3 months, they're so fast, nice and no nonsense. Crab rangoons, spring rolls, lo mein, fried rice, broccoli in garlic sauce are all so good, every single time

We go once a month. Food is always hot, tastes fresh, the staff is nice & there has never been an issue! We normally get the orange chicken & it comes with broccoli. Sometimes we order the crab Rangoon. Never had bad food from here. I like this little family owned Panda restaurant.

Food isn't terrible, Like I don't think it will kill you if you eat it. Otherwise it's very lackluster. Safeway quality chinese food. The pan fried noodles were good, the fried chicken was a 3, but even the sweet and sour sauce was watered down. The kungpow chicken and the cashew chicken were soup kitchen level entrees.

Some of worst chinese food I've had. Almost completely flavorless, yet still burned my tongue. One vegetarian option on the lunch menu, no veg soups. The spring roll was bland, and the duck sauce to go with is was the worst I've ever had. The meal was only bearable once I basically drowned it in chili oil and soy sauce.

We had not been in several years, so my smoking hot girlfriend and I dropped in to give dinner a try. Everything we ordered was very good. We got everything we could at spicy hot levels. And it wasn’t too super spicy. The staff were nice and attentive. They have lots of menu options for vegetarians and vegans. Had a good time. Would come back again.

Great food, large portions, friendly staff. I had the spinach ravioli and it was SO good! My future son-in-law had a mountain of chicken fried rice. Would definitely recommend this place!

The best war wonton soup! Enough to share and have leftovers. When you order take out, they package the broth so the veggies and wontons for the best meal at home! One of the few restaurants in town that offer Chow Fun! And it is wonderful. I had heard they recently changed hands, the store had kind of gotten run down. Pandemic didn’t do downtown Salem any favors. The new owners have cleaned the restaurant up and it’s much better! The chefs are the same. After rediscovering them a few months ago, it has returned to one favorite downtown restaurants. Parking in back makes it easy to get my elderly mom into the restaurant.

This place was something to remember. The booths were extra sticky. The table top stuck to my forearms… all of the condiments, sitting on top of it, were also extra sticky. We ordered crap puffs and a combination D dinner. They brought us egg drop soup and it was very good. My dining partner did ask if he could have hot and sour soup and was told no because that was extra. This was the first time we have visited an Asian restaurant and not been able to have either soup with a combination meal. The crab puffs were big, but they did not have any of that fake crab in them. It was all cream cheese, and zero seasoning. The appetizer plate was fried shrimp and barbecue pork. The fried shrimp was fine but the barbecue pork was dry and tasteless. It was really bad. Next came the Mandarin chicken, which was a delight. It was actually really good, but it was not mandarin at all. It was more of the sweet-and-sour sauce that came with the crab puffs just poured on top. It was a big portion and our favorite thing that was brought to the table. The fried rice was also pretty good. It had big chunks of what looked to be frozen peas and carrots in it and it well seasoned. They brought us something called Cantonese steak and it was 100% not steak I could not physically chew through it, so I cannot tell you how it tasted because it was too tough to eat. There was a vegetable dish that was good. It had normal vegetables, but they were also too big to eat in one bite, and we weren’t given knives to cut these vegetables to eat them. It was also covered in more of that nasty barbecue pork. The service was great. Everybody was really nice. The bathroom was mostly clean, but if you do go and visit, please look up to the ceiling because by the look of their vent, it has not been cleaned in half a century. It was gross. I probably will not return to this restaurant, because there are so many other places that make better food in my opinion. If you’re looking for quantity over quality, however this place gives you a ton of food. There’s not a lot of parking, but there’s a sees candy store next-door if you come out looking for something sweet.

It’s still so hard to rate Chinese food after eating at Kwan’s for so many years, but China Gourmet is a wonderful hidden gem in north central Salem. The service is great and the restaurant is cozy yet small. The food is delicious and flavorful and was fresh and hot. Pot Stickers were amazing. So was the Kung Poa Chicken and the Garlic Sauce Chicken. BBQ Pork fried rice was as expected and we will try a different fried rice next time.

I've been coming to this great little place since about 2014. The flavor and the tastes have not changed. The first time I came I pulled into the parking lot and thought to myself. I don't know if I want to stay, but I am so glad I did. I've eaten a lot of Chinese food all over the place and I have to say that when I come to Salem this is the only place I will eat if I'm hungry for Chinese. The staff are very friendly. The outside doesn't look like much, but inside is a very warm and inviting atmosphere. Nice tables. Nice lighting chopsticks on the table and the food is exceptional the sauces are thick and have loads of flavor. Also the portions are huge. The vegetables here are always fresh, never frozen. I don't believe I've ever had anything here that I didn't absolutely love. As you can tell by the photos it's always done hot and fresh and if you can't eat it all ,not a problem Take it home and warm it up later. It'll be just as good. Most everyone that we see there usually takes home a box... I usually get beef and something. The beef is always tender never cuts with a fork and as I said the vegetables are crisp and very good. If you're in Salem or close and you want to eat some of the best Chinese food, stop into China gourmet...

Not Chinese restaurant anymore? No signs that it’s 21+ the lady was very rude. When we walked in we thought she was another customer because she was sitting at the bar on her phone. Overall wasn’t a good atmosphere.

Canton Garden was absolutely delicious. We got the family dinner and it could easily feed four for a very fair price. Our server was pleasant, kind, quick, and very professional with a smile on her face and a sense of humor. She treated us with exceptional 5⭐ service the moment we walked in. We will 100% be back

Went for the lunch special specials. Wife got the daily special (sweet sour shrimp, pork chow mein, pork fried rice) and i got the conbo 4 (see menue photos). Restaurant had 10 to 12 tables full. Our order was taken quickly, hot tea came out right away. Moments later, our food arrived. Good quantity for the price and was filling. The menue items were fresh, tasty, and did not disappoint.Place was clean and the servers were friendly even though they were clearly busy. Upon my request, they brought out hot oil and chilie paste. They do have saracha. Personal preference though for golden crown chow mein instead(less celery). Oh, the fortune cookies are fantastic, something to look forward to as we finished the pot of tea. Overall, lunch was very good and will go back again.

Always have great Chinese food! We never get a bad entrée from here. The prices are good and the service is great..

My husband and I were looking for a new Chinese restaurant. We were not disappointed. The food was wonderful. We let our waitress know it was our first time here and she made several wonderful suggestions. Starting with the egg flower and hot and sour soups, very flavorful. The Dimsum was wonderful and full of flavor. We ordered BBq Pork egg foo young and the flavors popped. We also ordered the Mandarin chicken which was both spicy and sweet but not too spicy, just perfect. My husband also ordered a combination plate with Sweet and sour pork, shrimp, and chicken lomein and fried rice. Our over all experience was great and we will be back. They are a hidden gem here in Salem.

This restaurant is a standout. The booths are very comfortable. It has a nice decor it looks very Chinese. The little small egg rolls are nice and crispy and hot on the inside. When the food comes out it's very hot and it stays hot for a long time and it's delicious. They have the best prices for Chinese food of any place in Salem and food wise they are right up there with the best
