Sichuan Legend Hotpot and More!
I was craving some authentic Chinese food so I looked up this place and decided to give it a try. The lady who helped me at the counter was very candid and helpful. I ordered my favorite dish Twice Cooked Pork. (I noticed the takeout receipt says Chinese style) The dish was authentic and generous in portions. I definitely would like to come back and try their beef noodle soups. One suggestion is the rice was not cooked thoroughly and can be made better to complete a wonderful dish.
Good authentic sichuan Chinese food. The dry hot pot was the star with lots of shrimp, hot pot meat, tripe, mushrooms and crunchy potatoes. Came with rice which went well with the twice cooked pork and sweet/sour pork ribs. The twice cooked pork was a little too salty for our liking though.
Hunan Cafe
When you order the simple things on the menu, and they are incredibly delicious, I just have to say, I'm going back soon...
Service is okay. Atmosphere is okay. Food is not tasty. There are many other asian spots to order from I recommend trying one of those.
Mama’s Taste
Best Chinese food I’ve had in nova so far! Crispy beef is soooo good. Dumplings are all handmade and delicious. My kid loved the lo mein because it wasn’t overly salty and all of the meat was soft (in a good way.) Biangbiang noodles were delicious, the spicy chili oil was perfect. Definitely our new go-to, will be back again!
Super clean and well run. Food, especially the spicy wonton, taste good. Mostly takeout but there's a comfortable dine-in but it's on disposable plates and plasticware. We'll be back!
Lai Lai Malatang
This place is inside the 99 Ranch Asian grocery store. We were browsing pork buns next door but when we saw Malatang, we just had to try it. The staff didn't speak English that well but at least he was able to take our order correctly. It strangely gave me a good vibe because I felt like the food would be authentic. I was correct! The Malatang was quite good but it's not the best I've had. For a grocery store restaurant, I'd rate this Malatang 7/10. The base taste is there. I didn't like that I had to pick the ingredients. I didn't know how much of what was enough. I was just checking boxes and we had a language barrier. It turned out I had too many noodles and not a lot of other ingredients. Maybe I'll get it right next time. The wait time was quite reasonable for freshly cooked food! There's a bubble tea place right across the place so you can wash it all down nicely. I'm stopping by again if I'm ever in 99 Ranch.
The sweetest customer service experience I've ever gotten! Prices are so much better than the other malatang location in Annandale and for a reasonable quantity as well. The whole experience was made so much better by the lovely man working there - so fluent in both Mandarin and Korean and made sure we had aprons to protect our clothes. PLEASE don't hesitate to support small businesses!!! It makes more of a difference!!!
Nanjing Bistro
This is my 2nd time here. The restaurant has been upgraded to be more modern since my last visit. It is still a cozy casual place with decent food, while the staff is friendly and attentive. I try to come here again for other dishes when in the area.
As a foodie growing up in China and a recent Bay Area transplant, I have been generally disappointed by the Chinese food scene in DC. However, this small bistro is a hidden gem! Google review does not do its justice, perhaps biased by eaters who were looking for American Chinese food. This is authentic Chinese food. We ordered Nanjing Salty Duck, Nanjing style shredded tofu, Nanjing Wonton, and Dry fried string beans. Everything is delicious! If you are looking for more characteristic Nanjing food, order from the “Famous Huaiyang Cuisine” side of the menu. Service is attentive and friendly too! We will be back for more!
Nai Brother Chinese Sauerkraut Fish
Easy to order & pick up casual Chinese fast food place with decent tastes prices. Its signature black fish soup is delicious, and so is the spicy fatty beef mala dry pot
It's an acquired taste, Nai Brother cooks the sauerkraut fish well, very tender. However, the sourness and spiciness tend to overwhelm the main ingredients (fish, shrimp etc) so you can't tell how fresh the meat is. Worth trying to see whether this is your cup of tea. I prefer the Cantonese style which emphasize on ingredient freshness and less spiciness, or the Vietnamese pho with beef broth.
Yu Noodles
I visited the restaurant for lunch on a chilly day and was pleased to find various hot noodle soup options. The interior was clean, and the service was satisfactory. However, the Sticky Rice Shumai with Pork was somewhat bland and seemed overcooked, lacking the freshness I had hoped for, so I cannot recommend it. On a more positive note, the Chicken Leg Noodle Soup was decent, featuring a generous portion of chicken, and the flavor improved with the seasonings available on the table. It's worth noting, though, that there was a noticeable hint of MSG in the dish, which may not be suitable for those sensitive to higher amounts of this ingredient.
New found restaurant to go to for a beef noodles soup and chicken peppercorn. However we didn’t like the beef brisket which has a sour taste, it is more than we care. But for sure if you like sour noodle soup, this is something you will enjoy. The service was really good - fast and they have a good system. The place can surely cater small to large group. This is only indoor seating. They don’t accept Amex. For two people all of our orders with one soda included got us to $50+.
Ying Cantonese BBQ
This place is in the food court area of GW Grocery store. Tried the food for the first time and I was blown away by the authentic taste and flavors of the meat. I ordered the 2 item platter for $17. Both the char siew and Hainanese white chicken was super delicious and moist. The aunty at the counter is such a sweet lady. Will definitely be bringing my family and friends here.
I am a loyalty customer and come this BBQ place in few years since opening. Cause clean and delicious food. I even recommend many people go to try. Recently two visit experiences make me so upset due to their bad attitude to me(today yell at me for two separate half duck orders by credit card, not pay at one time. )
Qing Shu Spicy Hot Pot
Edit: I got food poisoning from this place from ordering their Fuzhou fish balls and peanut noodles on 03/14. Roughly 1 hour after eating there I started to feel weird but I thought maybe I just was really full or something. Started to feel nauseous and bloated. Ended up throwing up hours later multiple times as well as middle of the night. I think the issue was their fish balls because the peanut noodles are much more frequently ordered whilst the fish balls don't seem to be as popular. Me and my husband eat here about once a week. I will not be returning for obvious reasons. This place sells fuzhounese peanut noodles and wonton soup which is amazing! Normally to get good peanut noodles you would have to travel to New York so I was extremely excited to see it on their menu. I hope they keep it long term (not sure if it's permanent). It is also for a very good price. This has now become my go to when I want something cheap and quick.
Qing Shu and Nai Brother Saukerkraut fish while looking like two storefronts are the same. You can order from either at either register. We had Mala Xiangguo 麻辣香锅 today and it was pretty solid. I wish you could choose the spice level more though because I could definitely handle more heat. It’s a no frills place in a food court so can’t expect too much. In the past we’ve had Nai Brothers and I remember the fish we got being fairly numbing which was great. I’m glad to have more options in this food court and I’ll definitely be back.
China Gourmet
This place is OLD SCHOOL Chinese complete with a full tiki drink menu! Just like in the 1950s! So cool and the food was great! I had the curry with chicken and fried rice and just about blew myself up because I couldn’t stop eating it.
A good place for Chinese food in Dale City This restaurant is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Dale Blvd and Minnieville Road. It is in a reasonably large set of stores in the middle of the group of businesses. The parking is uncovered parking lot that all the stores directly open onto. There is plenty of parking for all the stores in this lot. Our group ordered takeout from this location and I picked it up. The inside of the restaurant had a large foyer at the front of the restaurant that seemed to occupy about ⅓ of the space. There were about 6 booths lining the walls and several tables in the central seating area. There were not many people eating in the dining area but they had a healthy stream of customers picking up takeout. There did not seem to be much staff but the ones present were very friendly. The food was a little late from the time that they told us it would be ready. The food was reasonably priced and portion sizes were good. The food was very good. Overall, for the price, amount, and staff friendliness, I would visit this location in the future and recommend it to fellow travelers with the suggestion that the time the food will be ready should be viewed as an approximation. Enjoy.
Mandarin Court
This spot is doing Chinese and Japanese cuisine, and I tried to try a bit of both to see what it was all about. The owner was very friendly, and was the one making the sushi. The sushi was interesting, the California Roll was simple, basic, however the rice was definitely a bit more on the mushy side, over cooked for sure. The Spider Roll was very different that what I'm used to as it had a large Romaine Lettuce leaf incorporated into the roll. I always like to try new things, but not sure if it worked... The Chicken Corn Soup w/ the crispy Wontons and Sweet & Sour Sauce were exceptionally delicious. I also ordered Chicken in Garlic Sauce from the Lunch Special Menu, and requested it to be a bit spicier. Oh that was yummy, as I loved their house Chili Oil as well.
Incredibly delicious & amazing food! I highly recommend this family owned business! The owner & staff are super sweet & were happy to answer any questions about the menu. The choice of Chinese & Japanese cuisine is a great combination & pleases both my husband & I, he orders Chinese & I order sushi! The spicy salmon rolls are addicting & I could eat those forever! The sushi is fresh, beautifully made, & worth the price!
Hunan Cafe
Love this place. The food is always fresh and delicious, and their prices are very reasonable. Not too salty like a lot of other Chinese food places. I can recommend the combination fried rice, lo mein, and orange chicken. The sugar donuts appetizer is great too.
Will never come here again. The CHICKEN pad thai was pink and had a horrible taste. After two bites it wasn’t going to get eaten. The crab Rangoon had barely any filling. We tried talking to the manager on the phone and they never transferred us over. They didn’t care that the food was horrible. Never got a refund for what wasn’t eaten. It ended up in the trash. Orange chicken was okay. But there was barely any in the container.
