China Wok
I haven't been to this establishment in a very long time. Five of us, my husband, two teenagers and our 6 year old son. My son was not planning to eat but once we sat decided, in fact, he did want food but this worked out because we had paid for 4 but my daughter stated she wasn't hungry so we just let him take her place and she chose to sit out. The girl working the front obviously could see we had changed things by staring at us on the camera which is honestly quite creepy, and decided we were trying to get away with being dishonest. Next thing we know a young man walked over to our table to tell us we only paid for 4. It was an uncomfortable experience and the food was really not that great. Mostly everything they put out seemed fresh but the taste was very off. We had to ask for refills. The girl working the cash register came over to get our cups and had a very rude demeanor. Overall, an unpleasant experience. I Don't think we will be coming back.
This was always our favorite restaurant when we lived near Bennington. Now we ALWAYS stop whenever we're down that way. Their fried dumplings are absolutely the best. Everything is delicious. The buffet has a great selection with things you won't find on the take out menu, like amazing stuffed mushrooms, and these incredible potatoes with a sweet filling. Clean and fast. Highly recommend.
Hong's Chinese Dumplings
I love Hong's Dumplings so much. She is open in January 2025 from 11am-7pm on Saturdays. I hope she continues to have hours throughout the year. I love the thick, chewy dough and delicious filling. The fried rice, cold sesame noodles, and scallion pancakes are delish too. I hope this recent review helps her get some good winter business!
This spot has earned its many awards for a good reason—it’s an absolute gem for authentic, delicious dumplings. The freshness of the ingredients is evident in every bite, and the handmade dumpling shells are a textural delight, unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere. If you’re on the hunt for truly outstanding dumplings, look no further. While the menu is small, it’s thoughtfully curated, and you genuinely can’t go wrong with any choice—every flavor shines in its own way. The owner is incredibly warm and welcoming, adding to the charm of this cozy, hole-in-the-wall spot. For those who value authenticity and flavor, this is a must-try.
China Express
Good place if you’re are craving for some Chinese food along Shelburne Road. It doesn’t look much from the outside but for me, food is good and serving size is good as well. General Tso’s chicken with pork fried rice is my go to (just the right amount of spiciness) and a soda. It cost me just about $12. Parking is limited, no drive thru, limited indoor seating and not much interaction with staff. You can order ahead for pick up.
An old chinese resto which clearly needs upgrading to attract more customers. Food tastes okay, usually this type of resto in asia tastes the best(in asia, the older the place looks the more delicious the food is but this is different) they have combo meals. service is okay, not much joy and entertaining to customers. Clean restrooms. Has one high chair. Accepts credit and debit. Parking is ample outside. Signage says there is a drive thru but there is NONE.
Zen Gardens
These were the best crab Rangoon I have ever had at any Chinese place. We also ordered beef, broccoli, and some beef and vegetable rice noodles. All of our food needed no additional sauces to eat as it was extremely tasty. I also ordered a strawberry smoothie and will definitely be going back.
Terrible experience! I ordered sesame seed chicken and was served orange chicken instead. There were no sesame seeds on it, and it very clearly tasted like orange chicken, but the staff insisted it was what I ordered. After a lot of back and forth, they refused to give me a refund but grudgingly let me choose something else. I then ordered teriyaki chicken on a stick, and the portion was shockingly small – about half of what I should’ve received. Overall, the food was disappointing, and the service was even worse. Definitely not worth the hassle.
Hung Tao
I thought they accidentally gave me pork instead of beef first time I got food from here. I wanted to give it a second chance today, just to get something that is either only beef fat or pork. Quality is horrible. Everything I got goes to trash.
All the food was not good. Felt sick immediately. Couldn’t finish it. Low quality meat. Bad oil. Just pretty gross overall and I’m not a picky eater
Chef Leu's House
We decided to check out Chef Leu's House, and I'm so glad we did! The Dancing Volcano Roll was absolutely amazing—it left me totally speechless. I also tried the lunch special with shrimp and broccoli, which was pretty good and came with a nice portion, plus soup and an appetizer. I can’t wait to go back! The atmosphere is really pleasant and cozy. They don’t serve alcohol, but it’s great that you can bring your own!
Have been coming since I was a kid. The food was great and staff always welcoming. The sushi came out amazing! My partner and I will definitely be back.
Wokky's
Pork fried rice has no vegetables no egg and is bland. Chicken fingers were fried until they became rocks pork egg rolls have no pork ..the beef sticks are really good!! Lee is awesome customer service is great the food needs more love and attention! The chicken lo-main is well balanced veggies noodles and plenty of chicken. The. Pork fried rice is what gets me upset! No egg at all .no veggies not a green onion in sight.no peas not even a sprout.. it's browned white rice a hint of soy sauce three pieces if diced pork and covered in whatever side u ordered I used to love this place chef Lee u lost the love I don't like to say it but your food is not good anymore u need to out the live back into your passion
This is a small hole in the wall place that I highly recommend trying. I've always gotten delicious food, the portions are solid, and the prices are very reasonable. The owner is also a very nice man, and seems to remember his regulars.
Oriental Kitchen
I have tried this place several times. People are always nice, unfortunately the food isn't. Recently spent almost $70 on 3 meals, and all of it was not good. I got sweet and sour shrimp. They put half of a shrimp in the breading! If you charge me full price, I want a full shrimp. I know times are tough, but that's just unacceptable. Every rice we got was dry and tasteless. Chicken lo mein maybe had 4 small chunks of chicken, greasy and no flavor. I won't be going back.
This is based on my dine in experience while passing through the area. The best part of my dinner experience there was the young lady behind the counter. I gave her 5 stars. The food itself was some of the worst Chinese food that I ever had. The rice was not fried at all, it was yellow colored rice. The happy family meal had zero flavor except for the shrimp and scallops smelling weird. Such a huge portion, too bad I threw it all out. Did not complain when I was there but it was a waste of 40.00 for my meal and the beef and broccoli combo. I normally would give the place a second chance to redeem itself but since I am traveling through I would not be able to try it again.
Eastern Dragon
I have ate here since I was 17. It was my go-to spot for sushi. I moved out of state 8 years ago and always made it a goal to get sushi here when I got home and chicken lo mein. This is the first time I can truly say this place is awful now and super disappointing. The pork fried rice is not the same and flavorless, the chicken lo mein meat is tough and gross and the sushi did not taste right and was incredibly soft. I don't know what y'all are doing- but you are going to lose long-term customers and new ones if you stick with this new cook/management. Not good at all. 😞
We got takeout here over the weekend. The price was quite good. The mu shu vegetables and the vegetable rice were surprisingly bland. The cheese raggoons were good. The spring roll was as to be expected. The dumplings were really quite good. The tempura cheesecake was good but heavy as I would expect. The tempura vegetables were good as were the sweet potato and vegetarian California roll sushi that we got. The seaweed salad was also quite good.
Lucky Buffet
Overall I enjoy this place, my wife and I go there about 1-2 times per month. Food is decent, prices are decent and atmosphere is pretty much what one would typically expect for Chinese buffet. HOWEVER I have two complaints: 1- it's air conditioned year round and it's like eating in a meat locker. And 2- lately they've come to the table with the check about 20 minutes after we sit down, barely enough time to finish a meal. We are not people who eat plate after plate after plate of food. Both myself and my wife take two moderately filled plates of food at most. Typically when a restaurant brings the check to your table it indicates that you have reached a point in your dining experience that is nearing completion. I can't help but feel like we are being rushed to eat and get out when the check arrives 20 minutes after you sit down. It's rather off-putting. Will I still eat there? Most likely, but maybe not for much longer if I continue to feel like my dining experience is being rushed and cut short.
I went for take out at almost closing time. They were low on a couple of items. They offered to cook me an entire pan worth, just so I could get a scoop of the product. (Only take 2 minute) I didn't make them. The white rice was gone so they packaged me up my own box of white rice. They saw me struggling with my containers and soup, and cane right over and offered a hand and carried and packaged it for me. Super helpful and kind.
Shuen Lee
The food was very good, it was all freshly prepared. In my opinion the food, in general was a little bit oily/greasy. The Crab Rangoon, were hands down the best in the region. The breading on the chicken fingers was a bit to thick. Same with the General Tso chicken. The flavor the freshness.... all there...just heavy breading. These are personal preferences not a bad report on the food. Grade A+ for the food. Nice dining room, very clean and bright.
Spicy house special fried rice was good, I did add some spice at home as I prefer it a little spicier. Beef with broccoli (w/garlic sauce) was tasty, and we enjoyed the boneless spare ribs appetizer as well. Thank you for the excellent service.
Rice Chinese, Thai, Malaysia Restaurant
If you order the “chicken in garlic sauce,” you actually get “onions in garlic sauce”. I’ve attached a picture of how many onions my meal had. I highly recommend Shuen Lee in Vergennes instead.
Amazing crab ragoons & dinner combos! Ready at the time stated :) great food
