Hong Kong City II
I was very surprised 😮 Very good food. At least what I ate at 2:00pm in the afternoon. I recommend this place of your on the go and fast. What really impressed me was how clean it is. Even the restrooms were super clean. Nice clean restaurant. The food stations are nice and clean. Floors and clean. Very impressive 👏 Good job 👏
The food was good, but the employee kept on rushing us within just less than 20 minutes of arriving.
The Rice Box
Saw this place on social media and gave it a try. There’s a million items to choose from. The food was delicious and super fresh. I ordered the walnut shrimp fried to perfection — they had a light airy crisp to them and just the right sweetness. I also ordered the house fried rice with shrimp. The shrimps in the rice were fresh and deveined and a good size. All rices come with an egg roll. I was not a fan of the egg roll or the sweet and sour sauce, personally didn’t like the taste. I wish they had alcoholic drinks other than just beer and had more variety of teas. I would definitely return.
I have been waiting to try this place since I moved to Houston and I am glad I did. My boss decided to buy us lunch and we picked this restaurant and doordashed it. I am a vegetarian and they had many options. I picked the curry rice with cauliflower. First of all the portions were great. It was flavorful, spicy and tasted amazing. I also had hot and sour soup which was amazing too. Everything had so much flavor and I can't wait to try other items. The only thing I would change is maybe cutting up the cauliflower so the pieces are smaller instead of leaving them big and remove the limes. Other than that, it's my new favorite Chinese spot.
US China Express
Best jalapeño chicken ever. Highly recommend
Food is amazing and cheap. Don't get put off but the decor or location. Place is amazing and family owned/operated
China Cottage
Visited on a slow night around 5:30. We were greeted very welcoming by the ladies. Food was good with huge portions so we have enough for lunch tomorrow as well. I recommend trying the fruit tea, it is not too sweet but just sweet enough. Very good meal 😋
I tried their lunch special today for the first time and as soon as I walked in I didn’t have good vibes. The place looked old and outdated and had a weird smell. They only had one table with two customers and it was a lunch hour. That didn’t look good but still gave a shot. I ordered kang pow combo with chicken and shrimp and beef? But I hardly saw any beef and just a few pieces of chicken and maybe three shrimp. Rest was all veggies. It was not a disaster but too salty. But the worse thing was the fried rice. It was just plain rice with soy sauce. Nothing else. It also tasted kind of funny. I ended up not eating it after tasting it. The hot n sour soup was okay. As far as the service there were two ladies one was a cook and the other one cashier. They were nice not rude or anything. But unfortunately I can pretty much tell why they didn’t have a lot of customers. Hopefully they will improve with all these honest feedback. However, Not sure I would go back sadly to say.
Mia China
I ordered 3 hours before closing time, so I’m very disappointed by the Old fried rice, old and hard cream cheese puffs, old and hard wonton chips, and old zoo animal a$$ tasting egg rolls.
I hadn't been here in years, the quality took a dive for a little bit. But I decided to give them another try as I was craving fried rice noodles. I would normally get the veggie version but I got beef this time and oh my! The beef was juicy and succulent. The whole dish was rich with flavor and they didn't skimp on the meat and veggies. The plate was sagging from the weight of the food. I also got the spicy chicken wings which was pretty good with lots of fragrant herbs. The fried biscuits were the only thing I'd pass on next time; they were fried a bit too hard for my liking and I only got them to help meet Uber's purchase threshold. Otherwise, everything was so fresh and delicious. The price was amazing, given the quality and portion sizes. We barely put a dent in half of the food but were filled and satiated.
Taste of China
Good flavor and taste. Positively surprised by their soup dumplings - were freshly made and the skin had a good thickness. Also can recommend Lion’s head The layout of this place doesn’t make a lot of sense - tables and chairs block the room too much. But I come for food, not aesthetics :)
What a hidden gem! Everything was so fresh and filling and the server was very attentive! Given the supply chain issues/inflation happening in the US right now, the prices and portions were amazing! The ambiance is great too. I highly recommend! The menu isn’t too big so it’s not overwhelming either.
Wing Kee
It’s a little restaurant on Wilcrest just south of Bellaire. We ordered a combo of roasted pork 燒腩仔 and roasted duck 燒鴨 and it was delicious especially the crispy skin of the roasted pork (just love it)!! We also had the deep fried frog 酥炸田雞 that was great! And a veg dish of braised tofu 冬菇豆腐with black mushrooms! All good.
Came here for a family lunch and was plesantly pleased with the authentic cantonese dishes. They specialized in cantonese BBQ such roast duck, char siu, crispy skin pork belly, soy sauce chicken and more!
Peking Impression
My mouth was full of fat & oil aftet this meal. My stomach was floating because all of the dishes were too oily. I’d expected a lot about the peking duck but it was the one disappointed me the most. The skin wasn’t even crispy. As soon as I bited the skin, my mouth was full of the duck fat. Only the sting bean was 4/5, a bit salty to me. The beef, kidney, and salt egg shrimp were so … 😫😫 The servers didn’t pay attention to us.
Best Peking duck in the Greater Houston area! Other dishes are very good too.
General Joe's Chopstix
I ordered the orange chicken with fried rice. They have bugs in their chicken, & when i called to report the incident they told us to come back the next day to either get a full refund or to remake the order. We went up there the next day to get our refund & the manager was being rude, didn’t even apologize for the incident.
I haven't eaten at one of these places since I was a kid. I saw this place on Westheimer and decided to stop in for dinner last night. They give you a ton of food. The prices are very reasonable. The staffless friendly. My order was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Most importantly, the food was delicious. I'll definitely be back.
Lucky Village
Located on a busy street Lucky Village was a pleasant surprise. They have the traditional buffet fare, but had a whole row of mostly seafood dishes which were all tasty and different from typical buffet offerings. They had a small sushi section as well. The deserts were fresh and they had a special treat with their jello offerings. I don't remember the name of the technique but the jello had a solid and clear mix which made it look like a slice of cake. Really a nice touch. I believe for two we spent $38 - $39 dollars for dinner service. I liked the coconut shrimp and pork ribs. I think the flavors were good on everything I ate. Would recommend.
Pretty good for the price! The waitress was very attentive, she kept the glasses filled and the table clean. There was hot food coming out to the buffet often too.
Spicy Hunan
After work on Friday, my colleagues and I went to Hunan Bistro for dinner, craving grilled fish. This long-standing Hunan restaurant did not disappoint. We ordered: - Double Pepper Fish Head: Tender and flavorful, with noodles soaked in a delicious broth. - Spicy Grilled Fish: Well-marinated, served with cabbage, cauliflower, and seaweed. Not too spicy and very tasty. - Stir-Fried Lotus Root Balls and Black Fungus: Crunchy and refreshing, a perfect balance to the spicy dishes. - Mao’s Braised Pork: Tender and savory, with a perfect mix of fatty and lean meat. - Long Pickled Beans with Chicken Gizzards: Tangy and refreshing, a great dish to end the meal. We were fully satisfied, and the cost was under $30 per person. It was busy, so service was a bit slow, but overall a great experience.
I use to stop in for the smoked pork fried rice as it was one of my favorite dishes. Through the years either the chef or recipe has changed. Went in today to give it a try and I wasn’t a fan. No smoked flavor and rice was barely fried. Guess it is time to try something new.
