1 star is too much. Most disgusting restaurant I've ever been to. I ordered a rice dish and the food literally had a dead COCKROACH in it!!! Then when I complained to the manager, he basically giggled and asked if I would like something else instead. I got up and left. Avoid this awful restaurant. I've reported them to Food Safety and Inspection Services.

Firecracker chicken was just the right amount of spicy and crispy and saucy. Fried rice was a lot better than my expectations. Really glad I tried this place!

I heard that this Chinese restaurant has reopened recently. I tried it today. The food tastes much much better than before, 😋👍 And they open for dine-in. The environment is nice, the service is great. It is a very pleasant dining experience. I definitely recommend. My family and I will be back soon.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The food is absolutely delicious, with generous portions that leave you satisfied. My favorite dish has to be the beef flat noodles—perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The staff is super friendly. 10/10 recommend!

Below average food with poor service. Waitress delivered bill when I sat down with my second plate. I was clearly not done, but by the time I came back with my third plate, she had already cleared the whole table, so I paid and left. It was busy, but she actually pulled a napkin from my table dispenser to pick up trash on the floor as she walked by. Professionalism was non existent. Parking was easy.

The exterior of the business may be deceivingly attractive, but let's get straight to the point – the food here is downright awful. Save yourself the trouble and money because this place is not worth a visit. During my first and last visit, I was met with stale, flavorless dishes that left much to be desired. It's clear that this establishment is far from its glory days and has seen a noticeable decline in quality. Having sampled various Chinese restaurants across Houston, I can confidently say that this one ranks at the bottom of the barrel. In summary, skip this place and opt for better dining options elsewhere.

Waited 30 minutes, understandable due to Beryl visiting us on Monday. My cousin orders before me and is abruptly told there’s a limited menu. It was pretty obvious since we waited for so long in line, visibly seeing the limited menu. The food was still tasty! Kung pao chicken had a great kick to it. The peppers and beef in the Beijing were perfect sweet and savory balance. Rice was a bit dry overall.

I ordered teriyaki chicken and ‘broccoli beef’ But there are only one piece of beef under many broccolis. I won’t order broccoli beef again😡

This place is absolutely amazing! The dishes are incredibly delicious and stand out as truly unique compared to the standard options you’d find at most Chinese restaurants. You can really taste the quality and freshness in every bite—it’s clear they put a lot of care into their food. Since coming under new management, the improvements are noticeable, and everything feels so much better than before. Even though they don’t offer dine-in, the takeout experience is fantastic, with everything packaged perfectly and arriving fresh and hot. I’m so happy to have discovered this spot—it’s quickly become a new favorite for me. Highly recommend giving it a try; you won’t be disappointed!

Food, service and price are good. You can come and have a good meal. It’s a clean cafe. The atmosphere is great and the seating is just enough for maybe 40 to 50. 4 stars cause I tried other places around that are just a little higher in quality with identical prices, but I would def recommend this place. It’s a good value and you def get what pay for.

The beef not cooked well! I ordered the bowl has just 4 slices of beef and broccoli, she is saving amounts of food, for what? not even delicious. That’s so funny! I am not ordering anything from Panda Express

Store was extremely filthy. Smelled like someone threw up in the store. An Employee served me beef and broccoli with one tiny piece of beef- then yelled immediately after serving me, we need beef and broccoli- when it was time for beef and broccoli when i was being served. Soda machine was smelly and broken. One employee was emptying the trash and the trash bag was leaking fluid on the floor- they didn't bother to clean it up. The food was not cooked correctly and and people were serving food while Multi tasking - cross contaminating stuff. It was a undesirable experience, place hadn't been cleaned properly in monthes. When tried to inform manager about some of these issues, the employees informed manager was gone. Just a bad deal. I regret eating this slop and not to mention one of the cooks was pulling out beef in eye sight out of a plastic bag, didn't wash and just didn't look proper- maybe that's how's it's done but never coming back to this location

We're always a little hesitant to try any new restaurants with review stars lower than 4, but the recent power outage left very few options for food. Many restaurants were still without power, but we found out Masala Wok was in operation and open for business. The staff was friendly at the counter, and we told them that it was our first time dining in their restaurant and that we might have a few questions. The gentleman was nice, and he answered all our questions and explained all the different options. We've been to many different Indian restaurants, and we know a good chicken biryani when we taste one. The biryani had nice flavor and spices, the chicken was tender, and the sauces added an extra touch of flavor for the entrée. We also ordered the Mongolian chicken with vegetables and Jasmine Rice. The meat had a good, rich flavor, and the vegetables still had a nice crunch to them and weren't soggy or overcooked. We came here not really knowing what to expect, but we left pleasantly surprised and happy. We hope other new patrons can experience the same great food and service we've experienced. We wish Masala Wok the best and hope future customer reviews will take them over the 4 start ratings. We'll be back soon!

Went here for the first time this evening. It’s Indian / Asian fast food- nothing more. For starters we got the 2 soups- Manchau and Hot & Sour and an order of samosas. For the main course- Paneer 65 and chicken 65 wraps. We also got a kids meal (chicken tikka with rice). The soups were okay. Samosas were just okay too. The wraps were better taste wise and portion. My kid’s meal was a ton of basmati rice, with 4 little pieces of tandoori chicken on a skewer and some tandoori sauce on the side. Not enough chicken or sauce for the portion of rice. It was good to try out the place. We may come back to perhaps try out some of the Asian dishes. Service was quick and the place was fairly large and clean.

I ordered 3 orders of Tuesday special, look this is what i got. I got 6 dried old of chicken thighs no drum sticks at all. Those pieces hard like a rock and nasty, why would they do that to us.

They are lucky that I did not feel like going back up there because I’m right next door. I asked the cashier 4x to fry everything fresh. I even told her I would wait. I ordered 8pc spicy, cook to order. Ten minutes later she tell me that my chicken is ready . I told her that was very quick , and she continues to tell me it’s fresh. Tells me to touch the box and everything. A part of me knew she was lying but I didn’t want to be difficult. .I gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe they had just fried some up. I get home and it’s 8pc mild with three legs and some mystery pieces that have been recooked to make it seem fresh. She could have made her job very difficult that day by not simply fulfilling the order. The sad part is they were not even busy so there was no excuse. She barely spoke English but she spoke enough to lie. During this whole exchange I was very polite and regretted it instantly. She almost had a bad shift. So whoever was working Sunday night around 6:30, you should be careful because some people are not as nice as me.

The staff at this location are always amazing! Smiles and keeps the line moving quickly. The one downside of not just this location (although it happens 100% of the time at this location) is when going through the drive thru, my food never seems fresh. It's always soggy and mushy. When taking out like this occasion, I always get much better quality product.

Decent food but if go during off hours it seems like been sitting there awhile. Lots of homeless people sit in lot or at patio and harass you when you go in. The staff are super nice at this location. Updated... Seems the homeless folks have stopped hanging out which is nice.

Doordashed from here and while portions are ok size the food is flavorless. Ordered the spicy chicken and asked for extra spicy but it had no spice. Not 1 pepper found. In addition the lo me in was flavorless and mushy. Pu pu platter was ok on egg rolls but wings appeared undercooked. In addition they left out my ribs appetizer that was ordered. Definitely would order from some of the other local Chinese places and avoid this one.

Just had the worst experience ever. Ordered my food. Cook was playing with cell phone, put on his hat, hands touched his hair, etc. He began cooking without washing his hands. Then he grabbed a handful of broccoli from the cooler and put it directly in the pot. ALL OF THE ABOVE WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS!! I immediately asked for a refund. He was offended that I asked for a refund. He said he didn't know why I wanted a refund. I explained to him that he was not following the proper food handling procedures. His excuse was that the hot water in the pot was cleaning the broccoli. He didn't understand that fact of him crabbing raw food with his unwashed bare hands... BEWARWE!!

Generic food court quality food. Not quite authentic Chinese, but nice attempt. I had the Singapore noodles, which needed a little more curry powder flavor. Potstickers were rubbery.

I’ve had Bao all over the world, but these Bao buns were incredibly disappointing. The BBQ Bao steam buns were mostly bun with very little filling—about 95% bun and only 5% filling. The sticky rice was stale and slimy, unlike anything I’ve had before. The shrimp balls were the only redeeming part of my meal—they were actually good. However, the portion of sauce provided was ridiculous. I spent over $50 on my order and received just four BOTTLECAPS of sauce, which was honestly laughable. As for customer service, I didn’t stay long enough to fully assess it, but I did notice the staff member at the front ignored a paying customer with which they were in midst of an order with, to speak to me about my order. Take that for what it’s worth. Long story short, there’s much better options at Post HTX for the price point such as Chop’n Blok across the hall.

Inexpensive Chinese food. If this is something you enjoy, China Ocean will not disappoint. Egg rolls are good, and their green beans were great. I had orange chicken, it was good. Service was fast and friendly. There's a lot of places to eat in the downtown underground, and this one is decent enough to eat at more than once. Not impressive enough for five stars, but it is good.

Came by super early before they even opened, they had a couple of items already ready to go. They were super good and fresh you can tell they were just made and not something re heated.
