空谷幽兰 Orchid Tea Cafe (8th Ave)
Cozy place and looks like they have live music sometimes. An easy spot to grab something to bite. Food-wise, it was average based on the wonton noodle soup I ordered ($14.99). It did not look like the photo at the door. The noodles were overcooked and too soft. The beef was flavorful, but the texture was tough like a jerky, not tender as what a proper piece of 牛腩 should be. Overall, it solved my craving for wonton noodle soup but I wouldn’t go back again for wontons.
This is my second time order here. First order for togo, this time order for stay. The food is okay, but they took a long time to cook. I waited at least 45 minutes for both orders togo and stay, they were not busy, only 2 tables for dining. I think they only have 1-2 staff in the tiny kitchen. Very disappointed for that. I won’t eat there anymore.
Tian Shun
I had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. I went in to confirm a detail from the menu since it was in Chinese, and I wanted to make sure I understood it correctly. However, when I asked, the staff responded extremely rudely and with a bad attitude, even making disrespectful comments like, ‘Can’t you read?’ It’s unacceptable to treat customers like this when they’re simply trying to clarify something. How would they feel if they went somewhere where only English is spoken and didn’t understand? Imagine someone saying, ‘Can’t you read? Don’t you understand?’ Disgraceful behavior. I definitely won’t be coming back and won’t recommend this place to anyone.
The food is very affordable here. Customers can get 4 sides and a cup of soup for $7.50. The food is good and fresh. And the eating area is clean.
Xia Chao
This restaurant is pretty much hidden. The food is good, service was definitely on point and the pricing is good too! The salt and pepper pork chop is on point and definitely should be ordered!
I ordered a takeout malatang with 8 ingredients that cost $20. The portion size is small and not even filling for one person. However, I only received 5 of the 8 ingredients I ordered, and there were more noodles than ingredients. Also, they added other ingredients that I don't like, like the seaweed you see in the picture, bean sprouts and corn . Additionally, the beef looked like leftovers because is small like nail-sized pieces.
China Gourmet
While ordering I mentioned less salt and less oil. On the order ticket it said less sauce instead of less salt. I requested the lady who took my order, several times, to make sure to correct it to less salt. She was so busy on the phone and kept nodding yes I had a feeling she will mess up the order. Sure enough the food had less sauce. The egg roll was dry. On my exit I said thanks and mentioned politely the food today was dry to which there was no reaction. If you are in the hospitality business shouldn't you say something like I'm sorry or next time I will make it up to you.....nothing !
Food was good, but i ordered fried rice and got yellow rice (unless that’s the new fried rice). Service was great here! Update on my second time buying food here!! I ordered sesame chicken and pork fried rice. The moment I started eating I knew something was off with that chicken. Lo and behold, food poisoning the following day that lasted 4 consecutive days of constant stomach pains, diarrhea and vomiting!!! Never going back!
Tasty China
This is a new eatery in the underground mall at 59th Columbus Circle. I usually hate leaving negative reviews for a new place but this place was awful. Terrible food for the price - ordered some roast pork buns, scallion pancakes and spring rolls. An hour later my husband was constantly vomiting, got terrible food poisoning. He normally eats healthy so we knew it was this place. Overpriced and horrible. Never again.
红苹果 Jiang’s Bistro
I had an extremely bad experience at this restaurant today. One of the staff members, a woman with small eyes (I don’t know her name), had an unbelievably rude attitude. It was like she couldn’t hear anyone speaking—she completely ignored people and only responded after being asked multiple times, and even then, she was visibly impatient, incredibly disrespectful. The food was ok,but with staff like this, I will never come back.
First time ordered food from here. Worst delivery service and food quality.I found a staple while eating. They charged me for delivery fee and the delivery guy asked for more tips. He said he wouldn't deliver if i pay the same amount again. I only ordered $9.75, he got $2.25 tips. I called the restaurant, they said i suppose to give him two to three dollars plus the delivery fee, and about the staple, They said it never happened in the restaurant.
China Wok
Food was fresh and extremely hot. Everything was good. there was no left overs today. Very nice staff. Short wait time.
The food is always fresh and delicious! The owner is very nice. We enjoy their food!
New Dynasty
3/26/25 first time here. My coworker gets food here a lot. So i decided to go with him and get some for our dinner break. I got the chicken lomein special with a soda for $11. It was good and comes with rice! Yeah i know, strange that a noodle dish comes with rice... So brown it was, good rice too! The noodles were good and i would get them again. A great deal for a NYC to-go meal. I will be back
Ordered general tsao chicken set with fried rice and soup. The chunks of meat look big but most of it are batter, meat dry. Supposed to be pork fried rice, but doesn’t have pork and lacking of fried rice taste.
NG'S KITCHEN INC
I’ve been coming here for a couple years, and the real standout isn’t the BBQ, it’s their amazing congee. Try it with white fish and ask for extra scallions. My girlfriend & I wouldn’t even think about getting congee anywhere else in this neighborhood. As for BBQ, it’s really good with a few exceptions. The roast duck is thin mostly fat not a lot of meat, I would skip it entirely or get it from somewhere else. But the Char Siu and roasted pig are actually really good, I like to get the combo with both pork options. They are very generous with portions if it’s over rice and give lots of vegetables with your meal. I don’t think this place deserves most of their bad reviews, it’s not perfect, but the staff are friendly and the food is good and affordable. Definitely more clean and higher quality compared to other options in this neighborhood. Don’t listen to people who complain about every little thing, give this place a shot.
In this shop ordered a beef porridge, found that there are a lot of pieces of steel ball, when I told the boss, she actually said that it doesn't matter can eat, but also said to my son don't be afraid to eat, I am really speechless this is wire ah actually said it doesn't matter can eat, really only make money regardless of others.一点卫生常识都没有。
Gongfu Xiao Long Bao
We ordered the Peanut butter noodles, Steamed buns, and pig stomach soup. The soup was a little bland but everything else was good. Service and atmosphere is a 10/10 we love little Chinatown. 😌
Recently open and the place is phenomenal. The food is cheap and affordable. Service is superior aka fast and no tip unless you want to. We had the steam pork buns, the fuzhou wonton soup, noodles with peanut sauce and the mei fen with beef tripe soup. I got the pan fried pork buns to go. It was super good and tasteful. I will so come back again with Jo regrets. I recommend it 297372727%
New Double Fire
Cost went up, portions went down. This place is no longer a value per meal location.
Overpriced compared to Ng’s Kitchen next door. Congee also does not taste as good. Very watery. $6 for a container of soy milk is crazy.
Hong Kong Boy
This place might not look like much on the outside, which is part of the reason why I've lived here for 12 years and never thought to come inside, but boy am I glad I did. Everything I ordered was seasoned just right - not so crazy salty that I have to eat them with rice. I''m definitely coming back to try their other dishes.
They had removed all the indoor seating, but they set up outdoor seating for customers who needed seats to eat. It was for self service. The outdoor seating area had AC, but they only turned it on when they saw customers were seating there. We went for a quick lunch, so ordered a few noodle soup. The food portion is big given the price charged. They gave lots of meat for each order. The roasted duck was very yummy. The only problem was that the wait was a bit long and they did not enforce social distancing inside.
