QQ Chinese
Short Review: Favorite Chinese Food in the Area Long Review: In total, we ordered a spicy General Tso's Combo Meal, a Beef with Broccoli Combo Meal, an order of Cheese Wontons, and a pint of Pork Lomein. All of the food was absolutely delicious. The General Tso's was meaty and had great flavor. The Beef with Broccoli was cooked well and had plenty of beef in it. The Pork Egg rolls were crunchy and not too greasy and the Pork Fried Rice that comes with the Combo Meals also was tasty and plentiful. The Pork Lomein was cooked perfectly and had a good amount of vegetables and meat in it. The only item that was questionable was the Cheese Wontons, which while they were good, tasted more like Crab Rangoons, which seemingly isn't on their menu. We ordered the Cheese Wontons in the past and they tasted differently, so that is something to keep in mind. Overall, the food was great and I would definitely recommend QQ if you're looking for good Chinese in the Scranton Area.
You will not find better Chinese food and service in the area. For a while, I enjoyed the buffet. This place was the hookup during college/covid. I can’t tell you how many nights this place has fed me. The price is reasonable, there are so many things to buy outside of the food, and the take out is actually amazing. I recommend the mango shrimp with lo mien instead of white rice. Best Chinese dish I have had. I am welcomed like family and will never forget this place. Whether you are in college, local, or passing by, give qqs buffet a try. They also deliver!
China Moon
This is the best chinese spot in Scranton PA!!! I’m originally from NYC and this brought me home. So good! Highly recommend! I had sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and my hubby had the fried crab sticks with house special fried rice and an egg roll. Everything was delicious and a good price as well. Staff is super friendly.
I love me some China moon ... best Chinese food around they make sure everything is done with so much flavor plus they make sure it's also done fast.. it's better to call and order your food you can find everything on the website and they also do portions for party's which I've done. I've had other Chinese food but only once because for me nothing compared to the flavor from China moon.
Ghalley’s Family Food Mart Restaurant and Bar
It smells weird inside and most of the vegetables were not fresh at all. They do have some interesting non-food items. Most of the stuff is it priced and I find that super annoying. I did find a large butcher knife that is very sturdy
The store is amazing and the staff are very nice! The food is also always fresh. They have a variety of items ranging from South to East Asia. If you want a diverse palate without wasting your time going to different stores you will be very content at the Ghalley Family Food Mart!
HALAL KENNEDY FRIED CHICKEN & Gyros king 2
This review is for Halal Kennedy on Keyser, not a japanese place or whatever is going on with this page. Gyro is excellent, fries are excellent. Lamb over rice is excellent. I got the fried chicken once and it was good too. Everyone there has been friendly. The food here is delicious and the portions are good. What else do you want?
We mostly take out from Oishi since their dine in option was unavailable during the pandemic. They recently reopened their dine in service. We are thoroughly impressed by the wide array of Japanese cuisine on offer. The menu boasts a fantastic selection of dishes that cater to various tastes and preferences, but our absolute favorites are the shrimp teriyaki and steak teriyaki bento boxes. The shrimp teriyaki was perfectly cooked, with a delightful combination of tender shrimp and a savory, slightly sweet teriyaki glaze that complemented the flavors beautifully. The steak teriyaki was equally impressive, featuring succulent, juicy pieces of steak, cooked to perfection and drenched in a rich, flavorful teriyaki sauce. Each bento box was thoughtfully arranged, including rice, fresh salad, and a variety of sides that made for a well-rounded and satisfying meal. The portions were generous, and the presentation was both appealing and appetizing. The staff are attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. Overall, Oishi is a must-visit for anyone who loves Japanese food. The variety, quality, and flavors of their dishes, especially the teriyaki bento boxes, make it a standout dining option. We can't wait to try more from their extensive menu! #JapaneseCuisine #Teriyaki #BentoBox #FoodReview #MustTryRestaurants
New Sun Gourmet
One of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever had in my life. Hands down the best bourbon chicken I have ever ordered. Loved everything we ordered and was very surprised how good the food was. I promise anyone reading this they will not be disappointed when choosing New Sun for takeout or to eat in the cafeteria in the mall. Highly recommend trying all the food here and will return for more.
9 dollars for fried rice is not a bad deal, but 9 dollars for an unseasoned heap on a styrofoam place is ridiculous. No seasoning, no vegetables, no substance, bland. Maybe list it for 2 dollars because it costs them 15¢ to make it.
Hot Wok
Best Chinese food in town! Reasonable prices and good portions. Very kind staff as well. Highly recommend!! I’ve been ordering from Hot Wok for over 4 yrs now. I always place my order on their website, never had any issues.
I was there recently and ordered vegetable chow mein and as you can see in the photo, there was absolutely no chow mein, it was very disappointing.
King Star
I’ve been ordering from King Star for months now, and they never disappoint. The food always arrives hot and fresh, and their sesame chicken is absolutely addictive. Friendly delivery guys too – makes the whole experience even better.
I recently tried the chicken broccoli dish, and it was absolutely outstanding! The chicken was perfectly tender, and the broccoli retained its fresh crunch while being infused with a delicious, savory sauce. The balance of flavors was impeccable, making every bite a delightful experience. It's clear that high-quality ingredients were used, and the care put into preparing the dish really shows. This has easily become one of my favorite meals, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a healthy yet flavorful option. Five stars, without a doubt!
China King
Very topical Chinese restaurant the food was advetge and service basic. I ordered , but there is seating available if you like to dine in. There was a strage table behind the register that a worker was preparing wontons out in the open without a hair net and no gloves.
I've ordered from here a few times and I'm always satisfied with my order. It's usually done pretty quick. The food is always delicious and well made and great portions. It's a favorite spot for sure
China Wok
Ordered delivery. Lady was nice but she banged on my door like crazy. Food was honestly disgusting. I don’t know why kind of oil they put but I’m guessing peanut. Everything taste like peanut. Lo main taste like frozen veggies /shrimp with peanut oil. Bourbon chicken , same just straight up peanut oil. $36 for two orders and small fries and it was nasty. By far the worst Chinese food I’ve had like ever . I would’ve rather it tasted plain than just literally whatever the heck overpowered every single thing
Very disappointed in my experience with this place. My pregnant girlfriend has been craving lo mein, so we decided to order from China Wok. The food didn’t look fresh at all and the taste wasn’t that great, but the biggest problem was that there was a metal shard from a scrub brush in her food. Thank God she noticed before she ate it. They need to be more careful. Would not recommend this Chinese place.
Wow Bao
As others have said this is a ghost kitchen run by Wow Bao through TGI Fridays. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and disregard all the bad reviews. I’ve grown up with fresh home made bao and just had that craving. This isn’t a knock on TGI Fridays as they are operating under an agreement. Having had TGI Fridays food in the past, I’d say their cooking of Wow Bao foods is limited to the constraints of an unsteady customer base and frozen supplies. I’ve been told by TGI Fridays this operation has been ongoing for over a year. If this food is representative of Wow Bao’s quality and business model I’d be ashamed to work for their leadership. TGI Friday’s food is markedly better than what I just received. Service from TGI Fridays was nice, very cordial and accommodating staff. There is a dedicated person for handling of the ghost kitchen orders. They do not have menus but were happy to verbally describe their offerings. I used the online google page to search and decide. The ordering and checkout is typically door dash or the like, I ordered at the checkout and pickup area which is their drink station in the back of the main restaurant adjacent to the kitchen itself. I was advised my order would take approximately 20 minutes and my order took in fact approx 20 minutes and I’ll assume I received it just as it was completed off the ticket. No significant complaints with the service other than a physical menu would be nice. Now the food. The bao is the main desire i had and as their name is Bao Wow I was excited to try what I’ll assume their prized offering is. The bao is clearly frozen. They are very tiny, soggy, and they came out luke warm to cool. Their fillings of Mongolian beef and teriyaki chicken had a lack of true flavor. You can taste the flavors but they are so distant from existing frozen on a shelf until called upon to be steamed. The buns, I can anttest, taste ans if and are in fact steamed, which from frozen will lead to a soggy bottom that falls apart. You also will get a sticky heavy chew rather than a moist fluffy and soft texture. The chicken egg rolls seem to suffer the similar issues from sitting frozen. They have a fried crunch but the filling is where it’s apparent they have sat again frozen. The color of the chicken appears dull, dark, and blended to its close neighbors of vegetables. Again the flavors seem to be there but still lacking and bland. I would prefer a run of the mill corner store Chinese food restaurant egg roll to this. Clearly those are frozen as well, but these seem to carry the appearance of freezer burnt innards. The orange chicken had an air fried appearance. I have an air fryer and have been able to produce chicken with a slight crust but flavorful, juicy, tender chicken inside. This is not what I received. What was not coated with orange sauce was dry, hard, crispy, overcooked possibly. The chicken had a crunchy outside and dry dull flavorless inside. Also cool despite receiving my order supposedly at the time of completion. My assumption is the frozen aspect affecting all of the food except the rice. The rice honestly wasn’t too bad. Fresh, soft, fluffy, slightly soggy w parsley and a few tiny bits of veg. Wow Bao should rethink if this is how they want to be known. Stick to your dedicated shops and rethink the frozen foods. Quality over quantity. Selling food like this will not create a repeat customer. I would however visit TGI Fridays with my family again for legit TGI Fridays food. Additionally, I have had excellent food from other ghost kitchens and pop ups. Even some food trucks are more impressive than this Wow Bao offering. The portions are small, the food is mediocre, the price you’ll pay for what you’ll get is shameful. You’ll be left hungry, lacking, and wanting, and lighter in the pocket while not understanding why.
Ordered this through Uber eats and I was concerned because of all the reviews. I had it at the airport before and it was pretty good so I gave it a shot. Genuinely it tasted good. All food was heated correctly and did not taste freezer burnt or anything. The bao wasn't hard like some other people have said. Unsure if I just got lucky this time or if other people had waited too long to pick up their orders? And yes, apparently this is run out of TGI Fridays kitchen. I got this at like 8: 00pm on a Sunday night and genuinely I'm super happy with the food. If you think that portion size is too small for you then I would order something else. I enjoy the food so I don't mind.
