I couldn't wait to leave the restaurant before leaving this review. The food is phenomenal, I had the Mongolian beef. And there's so much I'll need Togo boxes! But the main focus is the woman serving and running the front, she is the nicest, hard-working woman. There's been a steady line, because of the great food, but her service is impeccable. I'm glad to see them busy and happy... and if you come here, please treat her with the sweet kindness she is treating everyone.

I'm very picky when it comes to Chinese food, especially the meat, and this is one of the few places I've found that uses very lean cuts with no weird textures. The food has been consistently great every time I've visited, and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming. The portions are generous, and it usually ends up being less than $20 per person, which I think is a great deal.

Absolutely disgusting! Found bugs in both rice and sweet & sour sauce! Chicken was burnt to a crisp. Nothing in the order was edible. My kids love Chinese and wouldn’t even touch it. Will never be back!

So dirty!! I ordered lemon chicken but whatever I got was definitely not lemon. The crab wontons were stale and not edible, wonton soup had 0 flavor. The restaurant was filthy and smelled like a cigarette.

My bf showed me this place when i first moved out here and haven’t ate anywhere else (not like there’s many options anyway lol) was very shocked that such a small town had an amazing chinese restaurant . some days are better than others as far as food goes , but their service is what makes it really worth it ! I typically stick to Orange or Sesame chicken when it comes to chinese cuisine , so that’s what i get here . their orange chicken has actual orange peels which gives the sauce more natural orange flavor . haven’t been disappointed yet either ! if you come to Wrens and are looking for an actual nice meal in this town , go to Blue Star . It’s literally next to Jet on the right hand side 😂

Food was decent. I think it’s beyond strange that no one is allowed in AND you can’t see into the kitchen…. What’s there to hide?

Ordered my food on the phone and went to grab it 20 minutes later only to have the lady tell me that they don't take cards. You would think they would tell you on the phone

The rice had way too many vegetables. The sirloin steak lacked greens. The workers aren't very inviting or welcoming.

I've been waiting 50 minutes for my food, I went up and asked how long it would take beacuse the app said it would only be 5 minutes and there was only 2 people in line. they told me they hadn't even started making it but to give them 5 minutes, it's been 20 and they still haven't started making it.

I’ve been a loyal customer for years, frequenting both this spot and their location at the Mall of St. Matthews. In my experience, this restaurant never misses. The portions are generous, contrary to some of the complaints I’ve seen. For around $10, you get a meal that fills you up, which is a great value, especially compared to other mall food options. The cleanliness of the restaurant has always impressed me as well. I’ve never walked in and found it dirty, which is a major plus for a fast-paced mall food court establishment. I was confused by some of these reviews and I realized they were not for the Chinese Gourmet Express at St. Matthews mall. The one at St. Matthews is the best Chinese in Louisville. By far. Great menu, awesome, friendly staff, and good portions. I've been coming here for over 15 years and it's the only place I eat at the mall. My favorites are the Bourbon Chicken, Hawaiian chicken, Pepper Chicken and my daughter LOVES their Orange Chicken. Trust me, it's delicious.

First & Last time ordering from this place for me. The other reviewer on here is right, Cheer King is much better. Cheer Kings portions are larger, the food is always fresh, and the taste is just better. The protein in the Fried Rice from this place just does not taste fresh. $15 minimum for Delivery, then $5 delivery charge, and then you're expected to tip the driver. Think about it, the math only works if you're placing a large delivery order, otherwise, order the minimum $15, $5 Delivery Charge, and $2 or $3 tip. That's a 50% upcharge on the total cost of the food just for them to deliver a few blocks down. Last time for me. God, I hope the protein in their rice doesn't make me sick. Seriously. Check my other Chinese restaurant reviews on Google. I know the difference between good & bad Chinese food. This ISN'T good Chinese food. Diner Beware.

Worst beef lo mein I've ever tried. All of it was garbage. You want good Chinese food call cheer king on 5th st. They deliver too. And you'll see what good Chinese food is..

Wish they still had the frog legs poor service seem like they only want you to leave as quickly as possible

Haven't been here in a very long time, and I was very dissatisfied with how my family and I were treated. It was ridiculous that the prices were jacked up to $20.99 per person instead of informing people. Why are kids being charged the same price as adults? They had a sign on the door regarding something about this but the price was marked out. We thought they had made a mistake but nope it wasn't. We didn't know who our waiter was, one of the ladies was very rude; I had asked for water and instead was brought tea. Had to tell them twice that it was water and finally was brought the correct drink. I was trying my best to stay calm and polite but they were very rude, half the food looked like it had been sitting there for a while. They also had little kids running around by themselves even though there were signs that stated kids 10 and younger needed an adult with them but of course, nobody was enforcing the rule. I know from my son and I's point of view we won't be returning.

The family was working so hard since they were super busy on the night I went. Still it was only a 20 min wait which I thought was reasonable being as they had a full lobby. Got my food at the quoted time. Let me tell you their honey chicken with pork fried rice is a little price of heaven on earth... Yum, yum, and yum! And chef's kiss to their crab rangoons... Delicious! 100% will be back. Everything is cooked fresh to order. Do your taste buds a favor and give this place a try. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up! Thank you to the two ladies working that night! This used to be a place that I would love to come and eat at. There ain't that many Chinese places left that I like, and unfortunately, this place isn't one of them anymore. I haven't been here in years and decided to get a small plate before leaving. I got here not long after they had open, and it definitely looked like the food was reheated from the day before. Nothing didn't taste fresh, and the wannabe sweet and sour sauce was horrible! I ended up getting food poisoning and couldn't stay out of the bathroom. I highly don't recommend them. Since then, I have been staying away from any Chinese food at this point.

It’s mall Chinese food. It’s okay and tastes just like any other Chinese food you would get from anywhere else. Smallest portion starts at $10 and goes up from there. Workers don’t try to get in your way as much but I noticed that their styrofoam plates and cups are kinda dirty though from god knows how long they’ve been sitting there collecting dust and whatnot. Just wished that they could be a lot cleaner though but other than that they’re great if you want to leave full and happy.

They definitely have the best deal on Chinese fast food. They're food is always hot and delicious. I get the 2 entree with rice ( lo mein is also a choose) for $10.29 and I eat twice from this meal!

It used to be great, loved it before , don’t know what happened…but I went two times the last two months and the rice and chow mein was uncooked, I end up throwing the food away. Not coming back. Is a shame, It used to be one of the only places you get good food for the price, but that has changed.

Specifically ordered two meals with 2 drinks. Paid with card plus tip. Order came up and one drink was provided. Clerk argued with me 2nd drink order was not placed. Rice was overcooked with zero flavor. Meal was overloaded with more mushrooms than vegetables or chicken. Witnessed staff arguing with one other customer directly after our order. Very unprofessional.

Ate here last night an ended up with food poisoning, it’s started with sweets and a up set stomach then I end up hugging a toilet all night. So if you’re thinking about ordering I would rethink it!!
