China V
We eat here once a week and have for 3 years, always consistent the egg rolls are bomb I love it here!
Ordered for lunch for the first time since Joyful house was closed. This may have been the worst General Tso chicken I've ever had. Chicken itself is dry and chewy and has a really weird flavor (definitely not general tso). Rice was average at best. If you are considering this place, don't. Go to Joyful House down the street at least their food tastes as advertised.
China Hut
We wanted to try something new and close to our area. Stumbled across this new Chinese spot and decided to try it. When arriving, the restaurant was clean and modern, very welcoming and clear. Surprisingly, it was more than we had expected. We had ordered a sesame chicken dinner combo with fried rice, a general sao’s dinner combo, chicken & broccoli dinner combo, and moo goo gai pan chicken with white rice which turned out amazing. The sesame chicken and general sao’s were breaded nicely and coated evenly with the sauce. We last minute decided to order bubble tea: a mango green tea with tapioca & mango milk tea with tapioca which turned out greatly tasted. Not too sweet and the right amount of tapioca! Highly was recommend if you’re looking for something close by and late night dinner.
Great food and great service. The owner is a fantastic entrepreneur with a bright future. The menu is varied with lots of options and the prices are fantastic. Wonderful local business worth supporting.
Hong Kong Restaurant
Great portions. Crispy sweet and sour chicken with very tangy sauce. Beef with Broccoli is also a stand-out. Tons of leftovers to enjoy for days after. Friendly staff and very quick. Highly recommend in Berks County.
Best Chinese food in Oley and surrounding areas! Chicken is always tender and not chewy, their egg rolls are just perfect and we love their lo mein. I always get frustrated when some restaurants just add in a bunch of broccoli stems in their food and Hong Kong has a good mix of all veggies in their meals. We go here frequently. Definitely recommend!
The Parlor Dim Sum
I’ve been here twice, and both times there were some things I liked and other things I didn’t like at all. Unfortunately there were more things I didn’t like. I really like the Ho Fun noodles. The steak is great in it. It’s a pretty simple dish, I think a less adventurous person would dig it. The prawns are fried with their head and shell attached. So all of the flavor is on the outside of the shell. I don’t want to eat shrimp shells. It’s not enjoyable to me. Thumbs down. The taro dumplings are warm, with a crispy exterior and soft interior. They were a favorite. The jade dumplings are too chewy. Not a lot of flavor. Not a fan. We got the dessert special. It was flan. It was pretty boring and the texture was too firm, like it was old. The lighting is very dark with weird lights on the wall that remind me of headlights and are kind of blinding in the same way. My friend and I ordered two drinks each and none of them were very good, especially for how expensive they are. This place is pretty expensive for the quality, I think they spend a lot more effort on appearance rather than quality of food. But there are still more things on the menu I want to try, so I’ll probably be back.
I have NO idea how I haven't left a review of my favorite restaurant in the city - and I apologize. I have lost count as to how many times I've been here. I take every person I know... they NEED to experience it. Celebrations, just because... it doesn't matter. The Parlor delivers EVERY TIME. The service is incredible, the atmosphere is so chill, and the food is absolutely the best. You know this place makes everything with love, skill and quality ingredients. Don't sleep on the daily specials and the juicy dumplings... and the cocktails are imaginative and delicious! and the Taro Dumplings are my absolute favorites! If you haven't made a reservation or dropped in late night, do not hesitate. This place is the real deal, and Roger Li and team should be SO proud.
China Garden Restaurant
TLDR: Lots of options, good music, place is clean, unfortunately the food just sucks Came here with my fiance. We were unsure if it would be with the $16.75 price for the adult buffet, which is not advertised online, only the child buffet price is advertised online. The receipt also does not show individual items, so I don't know how I ended up paying over $35 for two items that are less than $17 each. Maybe there was a card fee? The receipt doesn't show what the extra charge was for, it only shows the total. They do have a large buffet with lots of options, and that was the main reason I thought this place would be worth the money. However, once I was up at the buffet actually loading my plate, I realized that there wasn't really much that appealed to me. Items were very inconsistent, some were dry, some were overcooked, others just plain sucked or lacked flavor. The wonton soup lacks flavor and has almost no meat in it. My fiance got muscles and they were very overcooked to the point that they were hard. She also had a laugh at the bananas in the syrup... They were so dry that one of her banana pieces split in half when she tried to get a fork into it. The ice cream is prepackaged, which stopped me from grabbing a large soup bowl and filling it with ice cream. They do have good speakers and the music is pretty good, but the food sucks and the receipt hides a fee and doesn't tell me what the fee was for.
The food was good! They gave me the wrong rice but im not as picky as some Ill eat around it. I now want to try the sesame chicken or the orange!
Hunan Cafe
I recently visited this Chinese café-restaurant, and I was really impressed! Their wonton soup and hot and sour soup are absolutely delicious—rich in flavor and perfectly balanced. The dish in the photo is orange chicken, which was incredibly tasty, especially with brown rice. Every bite was full of flavor, and the texture was just right. Another great thing about this place is that they have an electric charging station, so for some people, it’s a great way to do two things at once—enjoy a delicious meal while charging their car. Overall, this place serves amazing food, and I highly recommend it.
The most delicious combination fried rice I’ve ever had at a local Chinese takeout restaurant. Made with deliciously moist and tender beef, chicken and shrimp, shallots, onions, peas, and carrots. And it’s a hefty amount. Definitely set at a great price for the amount of food you get. Whenever I can I always order this. Must try. Unfortunately I won’t be able to get any even though I absolutely love it, since I’m having to pay for funeral expenses. But as soon as I can afford it I will be back for more!
P.F. Chang's
The food quality here has went from amazing years ago, to just okay a few years ago, to legitimately repulsive the most recent and final time I’ve chosen to eat at this establishment. The veggie spring rolls were assuredly microwaved because they are obviously too pale to have been fried. They were still FROZEN in the middle. After my mom and I took a few bites of each, we didn’t finish the rest because we were both bewildered at the awful quality. Next our veggie lettuce wraps arrived, surprising me just at their appearance alone. Pale, undercooked, ROMAINE STALKS of lettuce for…. wrapping filling in? Sure! The first bite of filling was the last. The tofu went from crispy and seasoned to puffy and bland. The other parts of the filling were not cooked thoroughly either. After asking our server some questions about the quality and why it’s not how their food always had been, she asked us if we wanted to choose something else off the menu. We said no thank you and asked for our bill, which still had both items totaling $27 that we had expressed discontent with. Safe to say this is another restaurant on my list.
All food was fishy even the salads, didn't have the wontons (reason for the visit). Lo mein wasn't stirfried in any sauces just water and noodles, the lettuce wraps however, amazing! Service was excellent and world class.. not likely to revisit, i guess it was the wrong time and place.
Chinatown Inn
Highly recommended! I was looking for a sit down Chinese restaurant similar to ones I had been to growing up, and tried Chinatown Inn for the first time. Atmosphere is comfortable and nicely decorated. We were sat quickly and greeted with waters and hot tea shortly after. Service was friendly, fast, and attentive. Even with the dining room filling up- the service was great. Food arrived at a nice pace allowing time between appetizers, entrees etc, waters were frequently refilled, old plates cleared promptly. I saw other reviews about the egg-rolls and decided to try them- very good and a must have, larger size and much fresher than what you’ve probably had at any other restaurant- available in various styles - including vegetarian. I would also recommend the pork fried rice / pork and mushrooms. Nice amount of great quality roast pork in both dishes. Our server helped us pack out leftovers and cashed out our payments promptly. I’d highly recommend giving this location a try!
Chinatown Inn last standing Chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh Chinatown. When you walk in it has an Asian feel I remember when I was young with the leather booths, the color red throughout the restaurant and fish tanks. Staff was very nice and outfit in old Asian attire. We first try the Chinatown Pu Pu Platter and dumpling to try out the different appetizers. Our entree were Beef with Broccoli, the Happy Gathering, the House Special Duck and the Salt and Pepper fish. The food was decent but I found it was made more for non Chinese than actual Chinese. Totally understandable since we were the only Chinese outside of the staff in the restaurant and they probably don’t get that many actual Chinese in the restaurant. But it was still a good experience.
Sesame Garden
This place is a 5-star in my book! The chicken egg roll was delicious—one of the best I’ve had—and a great size, too. I also enjoyed the orange chicken dinner with fried rice, which was amazing. The portion was generous, with just the right amount of spice. I only ate half and saved the rest for lunch the next day. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
I'm treated well every time I go to Sesame Garden. Nice servers, great food (the general tso's is really crispy - love it!), calm vibes in Mount Washington, you can't beat it! I will say that the pad thai is kind of "mid" - just go to Thai Gourmet in Bloomfield if you want that kind of food.
China Taste Restaurant
Delicious food and good prices. I think the large portions are worth it as its just a couple more dollars and it seems like twice the food. Ordered a variety of items and it was all very tasty.
Super good!!! I called to see if they did cash delivery because I only had cash one day but they only do DoorDash. Man definitely moneys worth! I did the DoorDash. I had shrimp fried rice with chicken wings it was HEAVEN!! however it wasn’t much shrimp. I counted 7 shrimp exactly. So the second time I ordered the chicken wings I got just the fried rice instead because I didn’t want to be disappointed with the amount of shrimp. Birh very good and fresh! The wings are 10000/10 this is now my new favorite go to Chinese spot in Pittsburgh. Chiefs kiss
Number One Kitchen
Family owned friendly staff, awesome food fast takeout place.
All of the phone reviews are accurate. When you're on the phone, she WILL rush you off of the phone. It doesn't matter if you're ordering or checking on your order because it's late, something is wrong, or whatever. You're cooked if you call
Dragon & Phoenix Express
My daughter and I go to this restaurant every Saturdays after her tutoring at church. The food is always excellent. Food portions are always big and tasty. The owners are always so nice to us. We always get their orange chicken, shrimp with garlic sauce and shrimp fried rice. We highly recommend this place.
I placed an order at 630, and my food (even with a special request) showed up hot and exactly as I requested within 20 minutes. Best place for takeout Chinese food in the area!!
