Wewe Halal and smoke shop
Visited for the first time. First impressions are very important. The store was very clean and looked well kept. My only issue was observing one employee who was preparing food with gloves on take a five dollar bill put it in the register and then gave another employee several one dollar bills back. After he proceeded to gut the bread of a sub roll without changing his gloves. Money is very dirty and it has been reported that paper money can transport a live flu virus for up to 17 days. When I brought it to his attention he was receptive and changed his gloves. I just hope he cares enough to continue with practicing safer food handling procedures always. Hopefully they see this and take it serious so no one that patronizes them gets sick. Lamb/chicken over rice was very good better then any I’ve had in the past
I had lamb over rice and lemon pepper wings from them today. It was so fresh and delicious. The wings were surprisingly amazing. I’ll be ordering both again soon.
Empire
The food was good! Wish there was more sauce, though. Some things were dryer than we wanted, but the flavor was definitely there.
My order was rang up incorrectly due to an honest mistake. However, when I asked if I could still keep the additional meal they made -- the cashier implied that I would not get my $3 refund that was the difference for the wrong order. I chose the refund but I felt that gesture was very stingy and rubbed me the wrong way. Additionally, the quality of the food was not as good as I expected and some of the items on the menu did not have descriptions.
Joy Luck
The spicy sesame chicken had more breading than chicken. The chicken lo mein (up charged) was spaghetti and bland, very flavorless. I wouldn’t recommend this eatery.
Order my family dinner here tonight, chicken broccoli, garlic chicken,lo mein Carb rangoon , spring roll . Yummy. Will be back .
Ichiban Hibachi & Sushi
Great place to host a party. A dining gem in Newark. Very reasonably priced I usually order a few rolls each visit and then I'll order a few more to go so I can enjoy their sushi at home. I try to come here as often as possible. So worth the 3o minute drive.
I recently dined at Ichiban Hibachi & Sushi and had an incredible experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The restaurant was impeccably clean, which added to the overall enjoyment of my meal. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the cook's performance. They brought not only their culinary skills but also a sense of fun and entertainment to the experience. Watching them skillfully prepare the food was truly captivating, and they engaged with guests in a delightful way that made the dining experience memorable. Overall, Ichiban Hibachi & Sushi is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy delicious food in a vibrant setting with outstanding service. I highly recommend it and can't wait to visit again!
Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet
Drove 30min to this restaurant, upon leaving we used the bathroom. Since we had a 30min ride home. 5 out of 8 of us were very ill within an hour of leaving here. Food Poisoning for sure. The sign in the bathroom we saw at the end of our visit should have been a red flag! Unreal!!!!
The food is always fresh, the staff is always extremely friendly. The restrooms could use some cleaning but other than that, it seems very clean and well maintained. By far the best Chinese Buffett I’ve ever had. Keep it up!!!
Sun Island Plate
Okay i will start by saying the food was good very flavorful and cooked well. The woman behind the counter was very pleasant and the establishment seem clean. Now what i did have a problem with, I ordered a Small oxtail with plantain and no veggies and it came with rice & pea for $21.00. Now there is no reason i paid $21 for a meal and only got 4 pieces of oxtail, 3 plantains even though i opted out of the veggies they could had give 2 or 3 more plantains and of cours a ton of rice which was more so hard even though it was flavorful.. I can until the price of things have went up but a lot of these carribean restaurants need to do better they are raising prices and giving smaller potions at least if you raise the price keep the same potion and it is absolutely ridiculous to charge someone for and oxtail meal and they only get 4 pieces of oxtail especially when you see 4 is being counted out.. Now i will say they arent cheap with the gravy and thats probably because they think it will cover up the fact that you only got 4 pieces.. The food is good but there portion need to improve
Walking into Sun Island Plate reminded me so much of the islands I forgot I’m in New Jersey. The food was cooked fresh to perfection and the drinks were delicious with no additives. We dined in and even played on the little game table just to kill time while the food was being prepared. The food serving was big and great value for money. The fish, rice and pease, cabbage, plantain and Mac & cheese were all top standard and super tasty 🤤. To top it off the atmosphere was off the charts. The music playing was a mix of lovers reggae and beautiful R&B. For a Sunday service it was the perfect selection as if chosen for me and my partner. The service was excellent and to top it off it’s my birthday and the owner generously gave me cakes as a gift. It’s now truly a special place and I’ll definitely visit again when I come back to New Jersey or New York.
The Cheesecake Factory
Me and a friend came on Thursday night, I forgot the servers name started with an M and I think ended with an O but, great service. It was our first time, so we let him surprise us with his pick of cheesecake. The food was good. The atmosphere was good. Server kept water filled, dirty dishes were taken away, not to hovering. Overall great experience and will be back (even though it’s a 2hr drive)
It was delicious! From the drinks to the dessert! Brussels are always a big winner here! I did think the 2 person tables were a bit close to each other- felt like you were sitting in a strangers lap, but otherwise, and great lunch date! Service was good, and the wait was minimal (3pmish).
Cousin Cafe
Cousin Cafe showed up in my research while looking for a Hong Kong-style restaurant in Newark. I decided to try them out. I'm not disappointed! The food is what I expected and the service is better than most of the Chinese restaurants. The dining room is a little too crowded, but I can still enjoy the yummy food. I'm sure I will be back next time when I'm in the area.
A neighborhood HK style cafe. Service is great and the AC is strong. The beef brisket wide rice noodles is the best amongst 3 dishes that we ordered. The Hainanese chicken rice dish was very plain, rice lacks flavor. Same as the other vermicelli we ordered, not many ingredients and flavors but very generous with the vermicelli. Their ice HK milk tea on the other hand is pretty good.
Hu Din Ji Shanghai Bistro
(May 2024) We got the Shanghai pan fried pork bun (recommended by a friend), pickled cucumber, cooked duck soup with glass noodle & duck blood, and shanghai potsticker. Of course the Shanghai pan fried pork bun was really good. Everything was good except for cooked duck soup with glass noodle & duck blood because ended up not liking the soup's flavor or the blood. The cucumber was refreshing to the other salty dishes.
I had an amazing experience at this dim sum restaurant! The flavors were incredible—each piece of dim sum was a little morsel of joy that truly highlights the skill of the chefs. The stir-fried dishes were top-notch, with vibrant vegetables and perfectly cooked ingredients that brought everything to life. What really stood out was how clean and well-maintained the restaurant was; it felt really inviting and comfortable. If you’re craving some fantastic dim sum in a pleasant setting, this place is definitely worth a visit!
Bob Evans
It’s been a while since I’ve been to this Bob Evans. My friend and I ordered the chicken tenders but these were the worst tenders I have ever tasted. They weren’t cut in the correct direction, so biting into them felt grainy and chewy. On top of that, they looked NOTHING like they usually look and NOTHING like the advertisements. I couldn’t even finish. The costumer service was okay, the waiters didn’t seem like they had much experience, which is alright. Even with us all having empty glasses though, we didn’t receive one refill which was kinda disappointing because the glasses are rather small. I won’t be going back to this location again, I’ll try my luck with Middletown instead.
A month ago I ordered from here which is when I originally left the review again today gave it a try and was equally or more dissatisfied than before 11.00 for this and when I tried speaking to a manager I simply got there’s nothing I can do. I can have corporate send you a refund. Erghhh this words make my soul boil its not about the money but would you eat something that looks like this!?! It’s my lunch time and it’s now wasted! This is the last time I will be buying from this place
西關明記腸粉 Mingkee Newark
Good taste of the rice noodle roll, unbelievably just a young and good- looking boy makes it, that is awesome. The young waiter servers in patience and pro as well. Highly recommended this store.
Nice brunch after rain at Ming Kee. With Zha Liang 炸两, porridge, fish ball and braised chicken wing. Yummy! 🥂will definitely be back. Btw they have another outlet at Cupertino as well for those in San Jose instead of Fremont. Their food is not oily or salty at all.
Tasty Chinese Restaurant
1 star and I feel that is even being generous. Top WORST Chinese food I've had..... I ordered 3 things from doordash, came out to $66, fried wontons with cream cheese, pineapple fried rice, sweet & sour pork. - Fried wontons were chewy like couldn't eat chewy - Pineapple fried rice had no pineapple but shrimp (I think they gave me wrong one) smelled like rotten seafood. - Sweet & sour pork, chewy, minimal sauce and lacked flavor. Threw it ALL away. Didn't even get a fortune cookie either.... I should have saved myself $66 bucks and ate the crackers I had in my cabinet. (Pics look better than it was).
OMG the people and family thar run this place are so nice and accomadating. THE FOOD IS AWESOME Try the Eggplant Prawns and an order if Combination Fried rice. It's the best Chinese food I've had in a long time full of meat Seafood whatever you order is really hearty
