China Chef
I like the plain lo mein.. but I ordered shrimp and broccoli, shrimp smelled rotten, called them the guy over talked me saying it’s good ok thank you bye I’m busy! This is not the first time this has happened
Based on my experience I’ve always had really good experience as far as the food but my only complaint would be cashier person that takes my order; he seems rude. I get the crispy honey chicken and it’s really good when it’s super fresh. Lunch special can’t beat it.
New China Village
Got dinner here tonight right after work, it was our first time. Shrimp lomein was terrible, honestly the worst I’ve ever had, it had no flavor and the shrimp was mushy and the noodles were SPAGHETTI noodles🤦🏻♀️🤮 the Lemon pepper wings were ok but the shrimp fried rice that came with it was not good either and same with the shrimp it was mushy. Called them back once we got home and I asked if they use lomein noodles or spaghetti noodles and she said yes they use spaghetti noodles add sauce . I’ve been to hole in the wall restaurants and loved the food but this place is a no go!
I ordered Hibachi they sent me fried rice and wings when I called for a refund. They refused. Stated that they can remake the food after four hours. I just wanted to refund cause I’m no longer I want the hibachi . I’m really dissatisfied with my service and the food all together.
Blue Star
My bf showed me this place when i first moved out here and haven’t ate anywhere else (not like there’s many options anyway lol) was very shocked that such a small town had an amazing chinese restaurant . some days are better than others as far as food goes , but their service is what makes it really worth it ! I typically stick to Orange or Sesame chicken when it comes to chinese cuisine , so that’s what i get here . their orange chicken has actual orange peels which gives the sauce more natural orange flavor . haven’t been disappointed yet either ! if you come to Wrens and are looking for an actual nice meal in this town , go to Blue Star . It’s literally next to Jet on the right hand side 😂
Never had bad food here yet.
New China House
Food was not very good. One of the pot stickers I got was cold in the middle, the egg rolls weren't crunchy in the least bit, and the crab Rangoon was soggy. The steamed rice was very dry and there was no water to put the spoon in. The buffet is pretty small with limited options. Customer service was almost non existent. The furniture is literally falling apart and the dining room was a mess. Not sure that I could recommend this to anyone.
Pretty good food, staff was fair. They was nice but really didn't talk much.
Chinese Kitchen
This review is for Chinese kitchen from 20+ years ago when I was an Engineering student at VT. This place saved my life by offering the most delicious Hot Sour soup and Shrimp lomien with char shu pork fried rice for $4.35 including tax. Best shrimp broccoli ever. Now I live in an Asian community in SoCal but I never found a Chinese takeout as good as this place. Lots of good memories!
I graduated in 2011 and came back to visit. I was worried things had changed, but it's still the same Chinese Kitchen. It's every bit as good as I remembered. Their steamed dumplings are so good that they've ruined all other dumplings for me. I've never found a comparable one and I believe it's because they're made in house. Chinese Kitchen was winning Best in Blacksburg for Chinese food during my undergrad. They deserve so much better than their current rating.
Blacksburg No. 1
[SPECIAL FREE ICE CREAM EVENT ONGOING!!] The owner is very nice! The food is SOOO awesome. I personally love their pork belly the most, and their spicy dumpling soup is also fantastic. Recently, they have a special event! From what I remember, if your total cost is above $20, you can get a free waffle ice cream. I came from Hong Kong, and I can tell you the bubble waffle is very similar to what I ate when I was young. If you want to try some authentic Chinese food, this is the place to go! It is not too expensive, and the portions are generous—you will definitely get full.
2019-12-11 Update: Rating increased to four stars. The new cashier was friendly and attentive. Tried their spicy pot. Large portion and reasonable price. Unknown if other dishes remained the same as before. 2019-05-13 Update: Rating reduced to three stars. The noodle soup quality has decreased appreciably: Previous spicy soups full of flavors have been changed to clear broths mixed with spoonful chili sauce. Luncheon meat slices become much thinner than before. Free oranges are gone. Price increased by $2 averagely. 2018-09-20 Updated: rating reduced to four-star: the server at the front desk taking orders was indifferent. No greeting, no words and I could not feel any passion from her about their business. A newly opened Chinese noodle restaurant. Had the original beef noodle soup there. The noodle is quite tasty and full of flavor. Beef size and portion are huge. The portion size definitely exceeds the expectation of the inexpensive price (~$8). Overall, this place deserves five stars and I will surely recommend it to my friends. The regular beef rice noodle was okay. Very mild, not spicy. Roasted beef fried noodles are tasty as well but a little too salty. Stay hydrated.
Great Wall Chinese Restaurant
The food here is consistently fresh, flavorful, and served in generous portions. You can really taste the quality of the fresh ingredients in every dish. Their deep-fried items are cooked to perfection—crispy, never greasy, and full of flavor. Whether you're dining in or taking out, the food is always hot and delicious. This place has become my go-to spot for Chinese food, and I recommend it to anyone craving authentic, well-made dishes.
Lemon sauce for the lemon chicken tasted like water with food coloring. No flavor. Steamed dumplings were not good either. Rice tasted Smokey like it was fried in dirty oil. Also they had no fortune cookies. This place used to be Great. I guess now they’re just a wall.

Ichiban
Unfortunately food sucked. Sashimi deluxe meal was packed into a 6" bowl with fish different types of fished just packed on top of each other. Food tasted more like mexican, espcially rice, rather than japanese or chinese.
great food, great service, great prices :) would come again :)
Number One
USED TO BE The best Take Out Chinese in Spring Valley. You can call to order ahead but no delivery. They're also very flexible when it comes to dietary restrictions. Update 08/13/24: Stir fried foods have become extremely really oily lately. Please lay off the oil & go back to original recipes from a yr+ ago. Thanks Update 09/25/24: Food is still super oily, so much so that you can see the oil pooling around & on top of sauce. It's seriously unappetizing & nauseating...
Tasty, quick service, cleanly atmosphere. Always busy . Staff are friendly
Ghengis Kahn Express
In town recently to visit family. Food was great, and prices were very fair. Would definitely recommend them. Family run business. I can appreciate that as I own one too.
Very poor service and the food quality is worst I have ever eaten.
New China Express
Order Date: 09/22/2024 I visited this place, and first of all, they only accept cash, which was inconvenient. I ordered chicken wings, pork fried rice, and wings with fries. The food was terrible. The rice was overly dark, the onions were old and hard, and everything had a strange smell. The chicken seemed like it had been reheated from a previous day – it was soggy, looked unappetizing, and tasted stale. Even the fries were disappointing, tasting old and poorly made, while the wings were outright disgusting. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. They’re serving food that’s clearly past its prime. Stay away from this spot – the food is old, nasty, and not worth your money.
In and out fast. Shrimp 🍤 and Broccoli 🥦
